Saturday, 18 September 2026.
Simon checked the hand-wound watch upon his wrist and decided to wait a few extra minutes before beginning PULSE's first meeting of the year, giving any last-minute students time to find their way to the abandoned classroom on the second floor.
The room had been transformed into a sort of small magical healing ward and today, seven stations were arranged around the classroom. Books, potion bottles, plants, diagrams, creature supplies, journals, and medical notes covered the tables. A golden plaque hung on the wall displaying PULSE's motto:
Ama, Cura, Sana
Love, Tend, Heal
Once everyone had arrived, Simon stepped to the front.
"Welcome to PULSE. I'm Simon Kincaid, a Seventh-Year Hufflepuff and founder of the club. This year, we're going to explore all the different ways magic can be used to help others," and he gestured towards the stations.
"For those of you who might go into healing, Hogwarts is where your journey begins. It's where you really begin to think about the profession and what it might look like for you. Today we will be thinking about what kind of healer you might be. There might not be one right answer and you don't have to choose just one. I ask you to wander around, look at the stations, try things out, and talk to one another. Maybe you'll discover something you didn't know interested you."
And then he also stepped forward to a small table nearby. "And for anyone interested, I also brought information about applying for the internship with Hogwarts' Hospital Wing. This school certainly gives us plenty of opportunities to practice our healing skills."
With a welcoming smile, Simon stepped aside to allow those in attendance to explore the stations.

PULSE: Welcome to the Ward
Paul came to the meeting several minutes before it started. The abandoned classroom looked like... well, an infirmary. There was a plaque on the wall that had Latin words written on it. Fortunately, they were all short, so they weren't that difficult to read, even with the boy's dyslexia. The same went for the English translation. Though, instead of heal, Paul managed to read hail. This wasn't a royalist club though, so Paul didn't expect much of "All hail the king" to be uttered there that day. That's why he looked away from the plaque for a few seconds, then looked back at the word and read it correctly. Yes, heal made more sense.
As the man introduced himself (yes, Paul considered him a man, for there was nothing boy-like about him). He was way taller, muscular and looked somehow... wiser and more mature than all those of their gender present). Hm, that Simon guy has likely been through a lot. Of course he has, he's a seventh-year. When you're a seventh-year, Paul, you'll have been through a lot too. The boy assured himself in his thoughts.
Simon said that they shall focus on kinds of healing today, and that there are stands with each one of them. Paul turned his head to take a peek at them. Dam', that's interesting! Can't wait to try them out! Ran through the boy's mind, as he impatiently shifted the weight of his body to his other foot.
The truth was, that the reason why he joined this club, was to learn the methods of first aid here. However, workshops with cards with emergency scenarios and some counter-charms to injuring hexes, curses and jinxes sounded good too!
Simon spoke about an Infirmary internship, which, however, Paul didn't feel like taking part it. It wasn't a tough decision to make. The boy knew well that lots of people got injured in the castle, be it Quidditch, Broom racing, or Duelling behind it. He wasn't afraid of blood or anything. He just... didn't think it would be fulfilling and enjoyable, like other activities he was up to in the castle. Providing first-aid was a one-time thing, and likely wouldn't take place as often as an internship. Helping at the infirmary, on the other hand, sounded more like a routine, which was something the boy wasn't in favour of (unless it was training, jogging and sport in general), for he tended to become bored easily.
When Simon finished up his speech, Paul stood up and went to stand number one, which had a sign 'Emergency Healer' on it. Paul looked at the bandages and the cards with emergency situations, taking a stack and flipping the first one.
"Hehe, this is good." Said the boy, reading the inscription on the card to those who might have appeared at the same stand. "The person of interest is clutching their throat. They're turning blue and they are unable to speak or cough. What causes it? How would you treat them?"
