As one trudged onto the open field, they’d be met with a clean blue sky with little cloud in sight. The air was warm and still, carrying the fresh scent of cut grass and the slight tinge of flowers. It truly was a gorgeous day to be out, and truly the best day to begin the first race of the Summer.
Ruth’s excitement sent tremors down her skin and quickened the already rapid tapping of her wand against the palm of her hand as she watched the stands filling up gradually. It was a beautiful morning, early enough to feel as though there was all the time in the world, but late enough to have shaken off the lingering sleepiness. Nonetheless, Ruth’s job was to wake everyone to the thrills of broom racing, and she was going to do it right.
“Good day and good morning to everyone!” She beamed, raising her arms into the sky, fingertips outstretched as if they could reach the pale blue blanket. “I hope you’ve all been enjoying Hogwarts ’ summer camp. And what better way to end things off with one of wizarding’s greatest sports?
“Welcome to the first day of broom racing, where we welcome Durmstrang’s broom racers –the mighty Magnus Blackwood and Vasilius Nighthawk – and their opponents – Castelbruxo’s marvellous Jason Aguilar and Naiane Tomari – to kickstart the morning.” The Hufflepuff took a breath as she waited for the cheers to subside.
“Without further ado,” the Hufflepuff swung her hands. “On your marks, get set, GO!”
