Stepping into the Hogwarts Express was like stepping into a whole new world. Most of Rain’s travel was by Floo or side-along Apparition with his parents so being on a train was a new thing to him. Plus, it was bustling with people.

I’ve got to find a cabin for myself. Good thing I got here so early because even being here early there’s a lot of people. After looking at the immediate cabins and seeing that the ones closest to him were filled Rain decided to move further down the train.

Rain dragged his trunk behind him as he made his down the train. Looking into different cabins to see if any were empty. Most of the ones he saw had at least a person or two within them so he kept going until he eventually found one where there was little people hanging around and no one in the cabin he picked.

Thank goodness I found an empty cabin. Now I’ll have a chance to think and start my new book. With that thought Rain opened his trunk to take out his new creature book that was a gift from his parents. After pulling it out, he closed his trunk back up and went to lift it into the compartment above the seats. Rain’s mother had placed the Feather Light Charm on his trunk so that he’d be able to better carry it around with him so it was quite easy to do.

After putting his trunk away Rain took a seat by the window and opened his book to begin reading. Starting to read Rain could only hope the ride would go well.

Hauling his heavy trunk onto the Hogwarts Express, Morgan let out a slight sigh of relief as he was finally on the train. He had been somewhat concerned that he wasn't even going to make it to the train as he and his parents had had a rough time of trying to navigate their way to the train station, of course, luckily they had found their way and now Morgan was on a train heading to a magic school, which he had mixed feelings about at this moment. It's not like he wasn't excited, of course he was, after all a whole new world had opened it's doors to him and magic was actually real and yet... he couldn't help but already start to feel slightly homesick being on the train without his parents or siblings.

He had really never gone anywhere without at least someone from his family being nearby, or at the very least had never been away from them for more than a few hours. He looked down the train and, with a deep breath to calm himself, he did his best to fix his dark hair that had become somewhat askew in his rush to get on the train and slowly but surly began hauling his trunk behind him in search of a cabin. He just hoped he could find an empty one or at least one that was mostly empty as he wasn't sure that he could handle meeting a large number of new people all at once and then sit through a whole train ride with them.

Going from cabin to cabin, Morgan found that he wasn't having much luck in finding any cabins that weren't completely full and he was starting to wish he had gotten to the train sooner when, after some time, he managed to come upon a cabin that held just one person who appeared to be engrossed in a book at this exact moment. The person looked young, possibly about his age, so Morgan figured maybe they were a first year like him which meant that maybe they'd be willing to let him sit in the cabin. With another deep breath, Morgan gently knocked on the cabin's door and opened it slightly. "Um... sorry to bother you but I was wondering if it would be alright if I sat in here with you? All the other cabins are already pretty full," Morgan asked softly in his usual monotone tone, really hoping he would be able to stop hauling his trunk around the train and just be allowed to stay in this cabin.

It had been a couple hours since boarding the train and Rain was quite engrossed in his book. Since it had been so many hours since Rain had picked a cabin and no one had entered his cabin it was quite a shock when he heard a knock and the door slid open showing another dark haired student.

In his shock Rain lost his grip on his book and it fumbled to the ground before he could get his grip back. Clouded by his embarrassment Rain just barely heard the other wizard ask if he could join his cabin. Knowing how full the train was even as early as he came Rain knew that other cabins would be ridiculously full and seeing the posture of the other student he didn’t think that they would be in a full cabin any more than he would.

This could be a chance to make a friend before Hogwarts. Surely this long ride would be a good opportunity.

However, Rain was still a bit paralyzed by his surprise and couldn’t make hisself speak up. As such he could only nod his head and make an affirmative hum, “Mhm”. After his nod he adjusted his glasses back onto the bridge of his nose from where they slid down and reached down to pick his book back up from where it fell and tried to find his lost spot.

Hopefully the other student wouldn’t find him to be too weird. Sometimes he wished he had better socialization long before the summer before he started school. That’s all he could think after picking his book up and waiting for the other wix to come into the cabin.

After readjusting himself Rain finally found the courage to look back up at the other student without making eye contact and speak. “Are you looking forward to Hogwarts too? I’m not quite sure what I’m looking forward to the most but my mother says it should be a lot of fun”, Rain spoke. He could only hope that the other would want to talk about Hogwarts. The older students he’d met before seemed to find it a good topic of conversation.

After watching the person stumble with their book and eventually nod that Morgan could join him in the cabin, Morgan gave a slight nod of thanks and hauled his trunk into the cabin. He didn't pay too much mind to the other student as they definitely seemed to be possibly just as nervous as he was and he knew if he was in his shoes he wouldn't wish to have too much attention on him. After all, it wasn't exactly like he was exactly the best when it came to people either.

Bringing his trunk in, he began trying to figure out the best way to get his trunk into the overhead compartment when he heard the other boy finally speak up and ask if he was looking forward to going to Hogwarts. Morgan took a few moments to think on this, adjusting his jacket slightly as he pondered on how to respond. "Well... it's a magic school right so I suppose I'm looking forward to seeing that so yes I suppose I'm also looking forward to going to Hogwarts," he eventually responded, taking a deep breath before heaving his trunk up and into the compartment above.

Morgan finally sat down in the seats across from the boy who had already been in the cabin and finally took a proper look at him. Freckles, dark hair, and glasses that very slightly but not completely covered up the fact the his eyes weren't exactly meeting Morgan's. Of course, he didn't pay much mind to this as he had also never been great at looking people in the eyes either and so Morgan averted his gaze and instead turned it towards the window to maybe help ease both his nerves and his cabin companion's.

"I don't really know much about the school besides from what I've been able to read from the books I was able to get from school shopping. You... said your mother said it should be fun right? Did your mother go to Hogwarts or... was she just assuming it would be fun?," Morgan asked, continuing the conversation after a few moments had passed, glancing back over to the boy for a moment. He figured that if the two of them were going to be sitting with each other for the whole train ride then maybe he should probably attempt to be at least a little social. At the very least, maybe it was a good way to get more information on the school he was going to from someone who might know more than he did. Hopefully.

Watching the other student bring his trunk in Rain eventually heard his response. “Well... it's a magic school right so I suppose I'm looking forward to seeing that so yes I suppose I'm also looking forward to going to Hogwarts*”. As the other spoke Rain saw him struggling with putting his trunk into the upper compartment. His parents must not have put a feather light charm on it. How strange.

After the other student took a seat Rain watched them turn toward the window before speaking. Rain saw them glance over as they asked their question about Hogwarts and what his mother said about it.

Hearing their questions Rain took a moment before responding, “Yes, my mother went to Hogwarts. She was a Ravenclaw so maybe that’s where I’ll end up. Lots of wixen tend to go into the same House as other family members. I don’t have much more information other then my mother thinks I’ll really enjoy classes and she thinks there will be fun clubs to join. She said there’s lot of activities too. My mother didn’t say how we’re sorted, though, and my father went to Ilvermorny so he doesn’t know much about the inner workings of Hogwarts either”. Rain spoke all this quite quickly and hardly stopped to take a breath. He was typically pretty shy but once you got him started on a topic he wants to talk about it was hard to get him to stop rambling.

Rain continued, eyes wandering around the cabin as he spoke, “I’ve heard rumors that it’s some type of test you have to take but I also heard another student on the train say something about a hat. I’m not quite sure how that would work but maybe. My dad told me that at Ilvermorny there are enchanted carvings that you stand in front of and they’ll choose you. I can’t imagine how nerve wracking that would be. What if none of them want you? Though, my dad also said a few times multiple carvings chose a singular person and that person got to choose their own house. Maybe Hogwarts will be like that. There’s so many options”.

As he finished his sentence Rain realized he had been talking for a while causing him to stop speaking for a moment in embarrassment. Darn his fast mouth. Why does this keep happening?

“I’m sorry. I’ve just been rambling at you without seeing if you had anything to say. I didn’t even introduce myself. I’m Rain Lucien. It’s nice to meet you. What’s your name? Did your parents not talk to you about Hogwarts”, Rain questioned.

As the boy in front of him let out a tidal wave of information, Morgan nodded along slightly trying to keep up with the almost overload of information. Perhaps he hadn't been quite as nervous as Morgan had originally thought or, more likely, he was just a nervous talker who was possibly excited or, at the very least, knew a lot about the topic. He understood a bit, his sister Gwen would also talk incredibly quickly when she was very excited about a topic or was discussing something she knew a lot about so luckily Morgan had a lot of practice keeping up with fast talkers.

Morgan did note that apparently both of his cabin companion's parents were magic users, at least from what he had said, which did peak his interest. He wondered what it would have been like to have been raised around magic or to have known about magic for a lot of one's life. His attention snapped back though as the boy introduced himself, Rain Lucien, a name Morgan would do his best to remember even if he wasn't always the best at remembering names. That's when Rain also asked if his parents had not told him about Hogwarts, and Morgan realized he would then have to explain that his parents were not magic users at all.

"Oh um... I'm Morgan, Morgan Faughn, it's nice to meet you too. And no my parents didn't tell me anything about Hogwarts. To be fair, I think they would have had they'd known it existed but they are both... I think muggles? I think that's the word people use," Morgan said, tapping his fingers slightly on the seat as he did his best to remember the correct word. There were a lot of new descriptive words that he had had to recently learn since entering this new magical word, muggles being on of them. He supposed he would have to get used to calling his siblings and parents that when introducing himself or talking about his family to people at school.

"Everything I know really about the school is from the books we had to get that were on the school supply list, and from the person who came to my house to explain to my parents about Hogwarts and everything," he continued, voice still slightly dull as he remembered the slightly confused yet intrigued looks on his parents faces.
