Although the librarian wasn't typically keen on "arts and crafts" meetings, Professor Lian had managed to bribe the bookkeeper with a donation of choice literature. In exchange, a gaggle of students were given an hour to decorate as they pleased, and Pericles had just the idea for making the most of that time. The box of supplies he'd requested were set on the side of a wide table. All books, inkwells, and study materials had been moved to make way. These were replaced with pouches of multicolored beads, a box of translucent strings, and dull threading needles. The piece of resistance were prisms of many shapes. Some were circular, others looked like elongated diamonds, and there were a few rectangles, stars, and shimmering teardrops. Holes were punched through the top of each, just large enough to lace a string through.

Of course, an errand hosted for Cypresse had to have a little science behind it. As faces began gathering around the table, picking out colors and prisms, Pericles was describing how these would work. "You see, a rainbow appears when light is 'split', bent by something which fractures it into its seven colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Rainbows in the sky are bent by raindrops, through which sunlight (or on rare occasion, moonlight) passes through. But we don't need rain to bend light. The shapes of this hard plastic work as a prism." Pericles held up a gleaming circle, letting the light pass through, turning it slow so that a fractal of colors danced over the table. "We're going to create suncatchers. The beads you attach to them can be any sort of color combination. When we're done, you can hang them with these." Pericles pulled a jar of metal twine, alongside two pairs of wire cutters, from the box. He placed these at the center of the table and took a seat, quietly threading a strand of twine through a handful of clear beads.

Fyriel had waited for this day ever since she heard the school was planning it. It was Pride Month and today was decorating day. The young Hufflepuff planned on walking through school and seeing what everyone had made but she decided to start in the Library. She had no idea what the professors had set up in the library so she let her curiosity guide her.

Fyriel entered the room and found Ravenclaw’s prefect Pericles Dralt sitting at a table doing something crafty. She nodded at him and said hello as she walked closer to the table to see what he was making. Pericles seemed to be making a sun catcher with coloured beads and prisms. Fyriel’s eyes glistened when she saw the crafts material displayed on the table. What a nice idea. After taking a seat at the table and putting down her own bag of supplies she glanced at Pericles with a soft smile and noted,” It’s quiet here compared to some of the other places to decorate. I like it.” Inside the Hufflepuff’s bag was an assortment of coloured paper, tiny flasks filled with glitter, pastel and bright coloured beads, a pair of scissors, glue, string, and many other supplies she might need to get through the day. The girl unpacked some of them but only what she needed. The beads, string and pair of scissors. Fyriel was not familiar with all different combinations of colours that had a meaning in the LGBTQ community but she knew the most common ones. Starting off by picking up some pink, purple and blue beads and a long piece of string, she threaded the wire through the small holes of the beads and made a Bisexuality colour combination on her first sun catcher. After these, she added a clear, translucent bead, a black one then another clear bead and she would add a second colour mix. This one had black, grey, white and purple beads to symbolize Asexuality. To end this colour mix she repeated her clear, black, clear combo and started threading through the last coloured beads. These last beads had the colours of Genderfluidity; they were pink, white, purple, black and blue in that order hanging down on the piece of string.

While threading the string through the beads and trying to remember the right order of the colours, Fyriel’s face had a focussed appearance. Anyone who did not see the beads but only her face and the needle with thread would think she was performing a complicated surgery. Satisfied she looked at her string of beads and picked out one of the prisms of the table to hang at the end. She picked out a perfect circle to symbolize the unity she saw in the LGBTQ community. Her first string was finished but she wasn’t done yet, the students still had twenty minutes left to make another sun catcher before she would move on to another part of the Castle. For this one she chose to make a rainbow pattern that repeated itself three times before the end of the string. There were many nice prisms left on the table but she wanted find a charming one. After looking at all of them, she chose a prism on the shape of a heart. ‘Perfect!’ Fyriel uttered as she rummaged through a selection of the plastic spectrums. In a hurry she tied the string through the hole at the top of the heart and made sure it was secured. Fyriel stood up, thanked Pericles for getting to use his materials and took her sun catchers with her. Inspecting the library to find a nice place to hang them, her eyes spotted a window in golden sunlight. That would work great. Fyriel pranced over to the window and by tying a knot at the top of the string, she figured out a way to hang the sun catcher. She held on to the one with the rainbow combination for a little longer as she wanted to hang it in her dorm or possibly give it to a friend. The young badger left the library and found her way to another part of the Castle, ready for more fun!

Tallis was shy and quiet but when she heard that the school was going to be decorating for pride month she was more than eager to help. Having two gay dads and being a young pansexual herself she was ready to show her pride. She decided to go to the library first, thinking one it would be quiet, and two there probably wouldn't be many people. As she arrived she saw Pericles who she had heard was Ravenclaw's Prefect and then Fyriel who she had seen around the common room. She gave a slight nod to the two and went to the back of the library to get started. She had brought a bag of colored paper, string, and a needle. Tallis had always loved creating things and as she sat down she realized she didn't know what she wanted to make.
She looked around the library and started to think about what she could make when suddenly she remembered something. Her and her parents used to make little paper butterflies and string them up around the house during the spring. Tallis smiled to herself and got to work on making the rainbow colored butterflies. On e after another she made them carefully and slowly so she wouldn't tear the delicate paper. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, and pink, if she had the colored paper she used it. She was extremely happy at how they were turning out and decided that since she had so much paper, why not make little flowers as well.
One after another, she put the flowers together stringing them along as she went sewing the flowers so they wouldn't fall apart and then back to the butterflies to make sure everything stayed together. She kept thinking about her dads and how she wish she could be making them with her but she cleared her mind and focused back on her work. Eventually she finished and she was more than happy with the results. She got up to string them through out the library and realized that she wouldn't be able to reach up high enough. She sighed and went around the library to find a step stool. She luckily did eventually find one and dragged it over to where she needed it. She got ready to hang up the first strand but as she looked at them she couldn't help but think they looked a bit boring, She looked around and then remembered that they would be cool if she put glitter on them. That way when the sun hit them they would sparkle and shine. She brought the decorations back to the table and dug through her bag looking for a bottle of glitter.
Art supply after art supply she went through until finally she found a bottle full of silver sparkles. She smiled happily and quickly got back to work. She sprinkled a bit on to each of the flowers and butterflies. Once again she was done with them, she put them up to the light and watched as they sparkled in the light, she smiled happily and went to hang everything up. She carefully strung them up one after another until finally she finished. She stood back and smiled happily at her work, hands on her hips. She decided that that was enough for the day and went to put all of her stuff back in her bag making sure not to spill the glitter. She then took the step stool and dragged it back to the place she found it. She lift her bag back up on to her shoulder and headed towards the door. She nodded once again to the other two in the room, and walked out. She was happy with the work she had done today, she had a good feeling about this pride month even if it was the first one she was spending away from her parents she couldn't wait to see what the castle looked like after all the decorating was done.

Pride month was something Ivy had never heard of before coming to Hogwarts. Although she determined that her parents, being sheltered purebloods living out in the middle of nowhere, would not have heard of it either, she also doubted that they would have really celebrated it anyway, seeing as they were so old-fashioned in their ways of thinking. Ivy honestly thought it was a great thing, a celebration of love and acceptance, and now that she could get involved with a school activity, it was even better, wasn't it? To fit the theme of pride, she had woven rainbow ribbons into her braids expertedly, and she was wearing a bracelet made out of glass rainbow beads. As Ivy stepped out of the common room, she briefly wondered if she had overdone it. Then a fourth year wearing a rainbow boa feather strung around her neck and a pair of colour-changing boots walked past, and Ivy continued on her way, relieved.

She slipped into the library, footsteps light as she approached the table where a vaguely familiar Ravenclaw was explaining the science behind suncatchers. Wasn't he with Breana at the Mandrakes errand a few months ago? Ivy wasn't sure if they had spoken before, but she smiled at him anyway and listened intently to his words. She had to hide an amused smile as she listened - of course there was science involved with this; only Professor Lian could find a way to make pride sciencey. The Transfiguration professor never missed an opportunity to make something educational.

Moving onto the wide table, Ivy surveyed the items carefully before taking a handful of coloured beads and a colourless thread for stringing. The Gryffindor had decided she would take the suncatchers she made up to Professor Karr's office. The Astronomy Tower got a fair bit of sunshine, but to be completely honest, Ivy had chosen Professor Karr as her victim target randomly. She would get in and out quickly in order to avoid detention or any punishment, as she wasn't quite sure how Professor Karr would react to her office being ambushed. Ivy had also crocheted a small rainbow bag the previous night and made a whole bouquet tissue paper roses - she had decorated her dormitory with most of them, but there were a few left over and she intended to use them to her full advantage.

Threading the last of the beads onto the string, she held up the first suncatcher in the sunlight from the window and watched the rainbows bounce off the walls and shelves, pleased with her work. Ivy made three in total before stuffing them into the pocket of her coat, moving towards the exit. She waved goodbye to the Ravenclaw in charge, whispering a quick "Thank you!" in his direction before slipping out of the library. Time to go and ambush a classroom...
Ivy has left for the Astronomy classroom.

In all reality, the library was the last place Chad would ever be, especially during his free time. He’d literally rather be anywhere else than here, especially on a lovely day like this. Something about the atmosphere in the library just gave him the chills, no matter the temperature outside. On most days, he avoided the sanctuary of books like it was the plague, especially after a particularly nasty incident during his first year. Actually, there were several rather unpleasant incidents, so the library was never held in high regard by the king. However, like always, there were exceptions, and today was the biggest exception of them all. It was Pride Month, goddammit, and Chad was willing to bend any and all of his personal rules to have the maximum amount of fun today.

As he entered the library, he spotted a familiar face by the tables, and quickly made his way over. It was probably bad taste to put up a flag in the library, so Chad decided to forgo his routine of putting up his drag pride flag in a very eye-catching place. Watching @Pericles Dralt explain just what they were going to do in the library, Chad nodded as he listened, trying to wrap his brain around all of the explanation and instruction being thrown at him. The way Dralt explained the science behind it all made him sound just like Cy, Chad decided, which made it all the more unnerving. He didn’t realize that he would have to learn today! Today was supposed to be fun, and yet here he was, learning things. Gross. Plus, he had never been one to handle directions well, as his brain tended to get more than a little confused and distracted by other things. Finally, the slew of instructions and explanations was done, and Chad raced to find an empty table to get started at. Sitting down, he started to thread the beads onto the string, although with his impatience and easily distracted nature, his fantastic hand-eye coordination was pretty much being used for nothing.

There didn’t seem to be much rhyme nor reason to which color beads Chad was picking, which could also pretty accurately describe pretty much anything the king did. Random and completely arbitrary, “go with the flow” should’ve been tattooed across his forehead. With a sigh, he held up his string of beads to the sunlight, before dropping it onto the table, several of the beads bouncing off the string and scattering across the surface of the table. “Who the hell could possibly have the patience to put up with this?” he grumbled slightly, pushing the chair back and getting to his feet.

“Dull, Dralt!” Chad called across the library, his American accent sounding odd as the double-D alliteration slipped from his tongue. Since when did he start saying words like dull? Even if the words were a bit harsh, it was with a good-natured grin towards the Headliner writer. There was (hopefully) no ill will between the two of them, so Chad could only surmise that Dralt wouldn’t hex him right then and there. The mini-Cy Ravenclaw was a bit intimidating to Chad, though, so he figured it wouldn’t hurt to stay on his good side. Geniuses had always scared the crap out of him, although Cy was one of the rare exceptions. Brilliant and scatterbrained, the Transfiguration professor had always been held in the highest regard by the drag king. Continuing with a melodramatic sigh, he explained, “It’s freaking boring. I’m getting gray hairs trying to get this damned thing done, man.”

Scanning the library and the students in the nearby vicinity, Chad singled out a single girl. “Hey!” he called out in @May Moonstar’s general direction. “You there! Shrimp! Firstie!” Eesh. Who let this guy in? Of course, his loud and extroverted nature could be a lot for people who weren’t used to it, and he grimaced slightly as he realized that he… probably should’ve toned it down a litlte bit, especially considering that they were in a library. The words were said with a wide smile, though, so hopefully, the poor first year didn’t throw something at him. “Yeah, you, kid. Come over here.” Assuming she did, Chad sat back down at his table, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly.

“Sorry for calling you out like that, gorgeous,” he said with an apologetic smile. “But this king needs a little bit of help with this project.” Touching the brim of his fedora as he nodded at the girl, he stuck his hand out for her to shake. “I’m Chad Preoccupied- er, King Chad Preoccupied, but just Chad is fine. The title is self-given and probably offensive to Queen Lizzy.” Oh, jeez… first, insulting a first year by calling her a shrimp, and then offending the Queen of freaking England by calling her Lizzy? He must’ve had a death wish today, or some insatiable need to have a target painted on his back.

Gesturing to the beads scattered across the table in front of him, Chad frowned in frustration. “I’m just too impatient to do this all myself,” he explained with a rueful grin. “But I figure, if we work together, we can get this done a lot faster… and if you’re even the tiniest bit artistic, it’ll look way better than me doing it all by myself. So, what do you say?” Pausing, he glanced at the girl with a hopeful smile. The drawn-on mustache on his upper lip stretched with his lips, altogether looking rather comical. “You team up with a king, and you and me get this done?”

May had comed from the Great Hall with loads of colored paper, to do colored paper lanterns for pride month. She had always loved that day, full of celebration and fun, waving banners all around, and decorating things everywhere, as thought it was a decor contest. She smiled at her thoughts as she entered the library and gave a court nod to Pericles Dralt, the prefect that had once caught her and her two other friends using a arrow, and probably given them a big detention, just because of damaging a tree. Well, one thing was sure, the prefect had earned her respect, and she didn't despite him anyways. She just felt the way everyone felt. It's called Prefect Awkwardness. And that was something that everyone knew.

May was a straight herself, and hadn't considered the possibility of being a bi, or anything else. But straight people were part of the LGTBQP community, and well, that was a good sign.

May began picking up scissors and colored papers, and cut them out into a beautiful pattern. She smiled at her work, and she had done at least four of them when she heard someone calling her. Or a first year called 'Shrimp' anyways. How disrespectful. That man should've had known better than calling Pericles Dralt Shrimp. May wouldn't have done it herself. She couldn't imagine someone calling him Shrimp.

She, May, was still cutting papers, and thinking, until she just caught up that the person that was supposed to be calling Pericles 'Shrimp' was calling it out to her. She rolled her eyes, and was about to shout out that shouting in the library was disrespectful and was over the rules, when she saw that the person calling out for her had a mustache and was much bigger than her. Was he a seventh year? May went to him awkwardly, and put her hands inside her pocket.

May didn't say anything when he apologized, and was a little frightened and embarrassed when he called her gorgeous. Nobody had called her that in her life, but maybe it was just a way Americans talked to girls her age. Not appropriate, she thought. Children my age should be seen, not heard. But that didn't made any sense anyways.

"Well-Chad, you seem to have insulted the queen of Britain. But it's ok. She hasn't overheard us." she finally said, an innocent smile on her face as she looked at Chad and balanced on her toes. "By the way, you've got a good taste for...uh...shoes." she murmured under her breath.

"Well, I will help you, if you help me afterwards, deal?" she said, letting out her right hand to reveal her pinky and stocked it up for him. It was a childish act, really, but she wanted him to tell the truth. And , of course, help her out with her lanterns.

The little shrimp of a girl finally caught on to the fact that Chad was trying to get her attention, and he could only smirk as she waddled over to him, like a little penguin. Seriously, the first years were all just so pathetic, and teensy tiny. With most of them, even a mild breeze could probably knock them over, or lift them up and carry them far, far away. He still had to hold his tongue, though, because two years ago... Well, two years ago, he was just another first year, wandering around the castle, trying to find his way in the world. He'd never been... this short, though.
"Well- Chad, you seem to have insulted the queen of Britain. But it's ok. She hasn't overheard us."
Chad cracked a grin at @May Moonstar's comment, and his opinion on the girl immediately changed. Alright, so she could banter! He could work with this, for sure... She was no Adam or Scott, and certainly didn't have the wit of Celynne, but she was only a first year. Maybe she'd grow into it- after all, Chad's entire year of classmates had grown up a little. Whether it was through literal trials by fire, heartbreak, or family developments, everyone seemed a little more... somber this year. Of course, Chad had attempted to retain his upbeat and outgoing personality, but this year had thrown a lot of curveballs at all the third years.

But today was not a day for moping, and he wouldn't just sit and be sad. Besides, he had a first year to entertain and confuse! Shaking his head slightly, as if shaking the thoughts loose from his head, he grinned at May as the girl continued.
"By the way, you've got a good taste for...uh...shoes."
"Damn straight I do," Chad shot back immediately, with a cursory glance towards his shiny golden booties. In fact, if he had to tell the truth, he thought that his fashion sense was pretty amazing, overall. He frowned a little at her muttering, though- he had never had much patience with people who didn't speak up. If she hadn't wanted him to hear, then she wouldn't have said it at all... right? But whatever. It didn't really matter, so there was no use in mulling over it. His brainpower had far more noble pursuits to, er, pursue.
"Well, I will help you, if you help me afterwards, deal?"
Chad nodded curtly, relieved that the two had been able to reach a solution. "It's a deal," he said firmly, before gesturing for her to sit down. Once she sat, Chad would sit as well, before glancing at the beads scattered across the table. "This is... so tedious," he sighed, continuing to add beads onto the existing strand. "I don't know how anyone could possibly deal with this... Although I guess it's just because I have no patience."

Pausing for a second, he paused and added, "I don't think I caught your name, though. And I like to know who I'm talking to, so I don't have to keep referring to you as "gorgeous" or "honey" or "beautiful"... unless you like that kind of thing." He shot May a slightly worried glance, mildly concerned that a tiny little first year could possibly be into that sort of thing. "I really hope you don't like that sort of thing," he added quickly, "Since you're like, 8. That would be weird. Very weird."

- Mentioning: Pericles Dralt-
-Closed to interactions -
The library was one of Lydia's favourite places in Hogwarts; it reminded her of her father's shop, just way bigger and falloff books about magic. So when she walked in, she was particularly curious to see how the spirit of Pride could be shared and transmitted in a place like that.

She waved at Pericles as she made her way towards where the boy and other students were, and her eyes widened in curiosity; there were a lot of prisms and rainbow coloured beads in front of them, together with metal wire and translucent strings. The red headed girl listened to Pericles' words and nodded, understanding them; she felt excited all over again, unable to fight the big smile that had taken a permanent residency over her features that day.

It was a nice change, feeling happy and light hearted for the first time in so long.

Lydia sat down at the table, the candle safely placed on the table next to her, and started thinking about how she could have done her sun catcher. There were so many different colour combinations she could have done, like the classic rainbow one, or she could have gone for one of the flags of the community. Maybe she could have done one for each? She put aside that thought though, there were a lot of different flags, and she definitely didn't have the time to create a sun-catcher for all of them.

Instead, she decided to make three of them: a rainbow one, one with the colours of the bisexual flag, and the last one with the colours of the Transgender flag; at the end, the chose three different prisms. The first one was quite long and looked like a slightly long tear; the second one was a round sphere, and the last one a pyramid.

Lydia started working on the first sun-catcher, securing the sphere at the bottom and the adding the coloured beads to form the colours of the rainbow; she repeated the beads' sequence a couple of times, and then secured everything before putting the hook at the end, this way it would have been easier to hang them.

Then she proceeded on creating the other two, the Bisexual colours were paired with the prism in the shape of an elongated tear, while the Transgender one with the pyramid prism.

Once she was finally done, Lydia observed her creations and smiled again. Only in that moment she realised that other students had joined the table, and she felt a little bit bad; she had been so concentrated on the task at hand, that she had cut out everyone else and isolated herself. She sighed and slightly shook her head, before she started tidying up the rest of the beans and string she did not use.

When she was finished with that, she placed the bisexual and the transgender sun-catchers in the middle of the table, so that whoever wanted them could have taken them and hung them where they preferred, as she kept the rainbow one for herself. Standing up, she thanked Pericles for the errand, giving him a warm smile, before she walked out of the Library.
Lydia has left the thread.

Pericles was pleased with the turnout. He returned @Fyriel Starlingword's greeting with a low "hullo" and a shared dip of his head, the warm glow of contentment lighting his eye when she complimented the location. "That's precisely why I picked it," the boy confided quietly, a quirked smile serving as a stand-in wink. "That, and I had a feeling that the library was in need of a little... color." This was not to say that Pericles, of all people, found the sanctuary of knowledge to be boring in any way. It may have been that it was sorely lacking in decor so that students would not be distracted. To him however, that made it all the more ideal, and a few shinies here and there might add a shade of cheer for students struggling under the weight of Final studies.

@Tallis Oblidge, too, was given a nod hello. @Ivy Bellamy's smile was given a grin back, a friendly nod accompanying it. @May Moonstar's brief bow of the head was answered in turn (as she was not running away at the sight of him this time), and when @Lydia Cooper entered, a welcoming wave greeted her. Understanding the average individual's need for quiet time, Peri was not the sort to forcibly loop participants into conversation. He would let them be to soak up the tranquil atmosphere, though the boy breathed an airy offer their way once he spied them eyeing the errand: "Hello! Let me know if you need anything." As it were, Tallis and May had come completely prepared with their own supplies, something surprising yet resourceful. The event orchestrator's own project remained on the plain side: perfectly clear beads, their transparency an implication of his indecision. He was too young to put much thought into orientations, or the depths of his own identity, yet he had great admiration for the holiday's prospect. What wouldn't one like about a month dedicated to having pride for who you are, against all odds? There was a comfort in it: that whatever he chose to be in the coming years, he wouldn't be alone.

Having strung a pair of clear-beaded catchers, Pericles took a moment to admire Tallis' flowers and butterflies, May's paper lanterns, and the suncatchers others had begun to piece. Most seemed satisfied with the simple errand... save King Chad ( @Ami Procoppio ). The first-year's eyebrows arched mildly, silvery stare flicking for the very vocal American. It took a moment for him to register the playful snark, but once he had, a gleam lit his eye. "I'm sorry to hear you aren't enjoying yourself," Peri rehearsed with an empty politeness, bantering back in his airy way: "I wouldn't want to disappoint, considering you, personally, were invited." His smile stretched, bordering on a playful smirk, though the expression never came to full fruition on his utterly innocent face. The Ravenclaw had begun deftly composing his third suncatcher, though an ear perked when Chad seemed to heckle one of his other participants, and Peri's focus lingered on the two until certain they were playing nicely.

Those who left with a word of gratitude were given one back, appreciative glances following each departure. "Not much time left now," he warned those still crafting. "Professor Lian bribed the librarian for a little time. She'll shoo us out soon."

Well, those shoes were hot. But May couldn't help but wondering if she had seen that guy somewhere. Somewhere every day...
Leaving that thought behind, May began picking up the beads faster, until they were all done. Inspecting so that no bead would be left behind, May have a satisfactory smile to Chad Preoccupied and signaled him to join her to the table further into the library, where she was doing LGTBQ+ lanterns. "Well Chad, I hope that you remember our deal. Now, do you know how to make these lanterns?" she showed him one of the completed lanterns, and smirked at him (friendly smirk) and began cutting the papers, fast but neatly until she made a lantern, again. "I think I've met you somewhere. Well, maybe not met, but seen. You are- strangely familiar. But maybe it's my cousin...he has a American accent too."

What she had told Chad was not satisfactory for her. She had seen him somewhere, but she couldn't remember exacly, but let the matter drop. If he was going to help her, better not get into a stupid argument about that. "You know, my sister went to Ilvermorny. She works at St. Mungo's now." she told him. If he was American, he would probably know the prestigious Moonstar that had worked as a Auror and now Healer. But no, she wasn't that prestigious either.

She had done a little mess of paper cuttings. Not as much as the fully and beautifully decorated Charms classroom, but messy enough. But she cleaned it up before telling Chad- again- to help her out finish with their work. "Now, we will need to stick candles. But since it's broad daylight, we won't lit them up. Just stick them to the lanterns. Do you know a sticking charm?" if he was a third year, he should know everything about that.
