Monkeys.
Pam's eyes narrowed as the animals seemingly appeared out of thin air, moving surprisingly fast as they attempted to steal their wands. Pam avoided them with not too much difficulty, although she had to wonder why the creatures enjoyed nicking stuff out of their hands and pockets.
She stepped back, hands clutching at her wand as one of them approached her with growing interest. "Not today," she muttered, shooing it away instead of trying to frighten it. Go while I'm being nice, I'm not a friend. The monkey chattered indignantly before bounding off to search for an easier target.
"How about picking someone from the other team, if they're here," Pam called after it, watching the animal scuttle away with mild disappointment.
I know we've encroached into your living space, but do you need to go out of your way to get on my nerves?
Pam wandered further through the terrain, pushing aside large leaves that seemed determined to stand right in her path. The monkeys had made her run around like a chicken for a while, she hoped she was going in the correct direction at least.
The girl glanced back, fully expecting another monkey to be creeping up on her.
Nothing.
Good.
Her attention lingered a second too long. The toe of her shoe caught on a thick tree root hidden beneath the fallen leaves. She lurched forward, only just managing to keep herself upright with a sharp intake of breath. "Great." she muttered, "As if the monekys weren't bad enough--"
Thunk.
"--oof!"
She hadn't noticed the low-hanging branch until it met with her forehead, color=#106a64]"Oh, come on!"[/color]

| xx | The waterfall was deafening, but a voice that sounded was not drowned out. Luuk could faintly hear Stelle asking him where he would hide the flag. The boy did not turn. He did not need to turn to recognise the polished accent that emanated from behind; he did not need to turn to know that the blonde was speaking to him. Droplets of water suspended and the rustling of the canopy seemed to pause. The question was a good one; an essential one. Where would one hide the flag? The initial psychology behind the concealment was the key to the game; to catch the flag, the flag must first be seen. And perhaps the Hogwarts girl was clever in asking for the perspective of others, to attempt to peer into the mind of the enemy. Perhaps it would do well to hide the flag in plain sight, for not hiding it at all made for the optimal deception. Or perhaps — “I would hide where I trust. Near home,” he replied. Wherever that was. Vague enough such that the girl would not find gaps in his thinking, yet specific enough such that it held some resonance to the truth. For, he could suppose it was true that hiding the flag nearer to one’s own base would be the cleverest move. Stelle did not need to know that there were not many places — or people — that he trusted. Stelle did not need to know that home was a location of skepticism rather than trust; and so by that logic, the flag would not be hidden anywhere if it were up to him. He would keep the flag on the self, where at least some feeble trust was placed. His back remained directed to the girl, unturned. As Luuk continued the trek, the terrain became increasingly convoluted and messy; the flora and fauna grew dense and thickety, the bright colours serving almost as hallucinogens. The overlapping branches created a maze of sorts that seemed to close in upon him. Sound was echoing, nonexistent. Were Stelle and the others still behind him? The brunet finally turned around to check on her, to check on his teammates — only to find that they were nowhere to be seen. He grew so engrossed in looking that he didn’t look enough. A split second. Attention was lost — the hallucinogenic environment shifted, disruptive — and something closed around his leg. Teeth sinking into flesh. Snake; an anaconda. Ironic, considering he had been warning his teammates of the very creature just moments ago. He had fallen prey to what he had been most conscious of, which only served as evidence that what you look for, aware, finds a way to present itself in the strangest of ways. Panic and a fear for the loss of life surged for a moment before the boy calmed himself, reminded that the bite was not venomous. As the coils tightened snugly against him to constrict any movement, he could see from the corner of his eye another victim being pulled into the snake’s grasp. |

Written as the NPC to replace Tatiana Contraire
In his defense, nature should not have been pretty enough to make him forget what he had been doing.
Sunlight filtered through the towering canopy in fractured ribbons, catching on dew-soaked leaves and turning them into tiny emeralds. Thick vines draped themselves between ancient trunks, moss crept over weathered stone, and somewhere overhead an unseen bird called into the rainforest with a melody he'd never heard before.
Whoever had designed jungles had clearly put far too much effort into the scenery.
Honestly, who put brightly colored birds, waterfalls and flowers that looked like they'd been painted by hand in the middle of a competition? It was practically sabotage.
The bird called again.
Luke glanced up.
"...Bit dramatic, aren't you?" he muttered.
The bird offered no reply. Probably because it was a bird.
Also, where, for the love of all things colorful, were the people? Whatever happened to 'teamwork'?
Admittedly, Luke had gotten distracted and had forgotten he had come there for a game, not to ogle at the greenery and wish he could live as a bird and not as a human needing to do homework.
Nevertheless, he was deeply touched by their complete lack of concern. Sure, he knew absolutely no one, but so what? They were still gonna win together weren't they?
Honestly.
How impressively insensitive.
After a while, the rainforest decided to escalate it's efforts to steal his attention. Mist rolled lazily between the trees, swallowing the distant undergrowth until the path ahead dissolved into white. It should have been unsettling.
"...Okay, that's actually kind of pretty."
Somewhere ahead came the unmistakable sound of rushing water.
Finally. A landmark.
Rivers had directions. Luke respected things with directions.
The bird chirped again.
"Yeah, alright," Luke muttered back. The bird offered no further clarification on whether he was being insulted or encouraged.
He walked on, occasionally tripping over absolutely nothing until the river finally emerged through the mist. "There you are!" Luke said, as though the river had been the one wandering around lost.
He stepped closer and cold water lapped at the toes of his trainers.
"...Oops."
He laughed softly to himself.
One more step wouldn't hurt.
Then another.
The water climbed from his ankles towards his shins, cool enough to make him shiver, yet somehow not unpleasant. Somewhere in the back of his mind, a voice politely reminded him he did not know how to swim. Luke acknowledged the thought with all the seriousness of someone reading the terms and conditions before clicking accept.
"It'll be fine," he assured himself.
It would, in fact, not be fine.
The riverbed vanished beneath his next step.
Luke had exactly enough time to think, ...Well that's unfortunate, before the current introduced itself to him super enthusiastically.
And then Luke was violently rediscovering how lungs worked while coughing up half the river onto the muddy bank, surrounded by staff members who looked as though they'd rather be literally anywhere else. Luke managed a watery grin, "So um... that wasn't intentional I swear."

She listened to Luuk's reply attentively, letting those few words settle before trying to fully comprehend them. She didn't respond immediately. There was something curious about him. Each sentence seemed to open a door and close it simultaneously. It wasn't a difficult conversation; it was a delicate one. As she pondered that response, her eyes continued to scan the jungle. She wasn't observing solely for strategic reasons, though strategy also had its place.
There was something profoundly hypnotic about Castelobruxo. The vegetation seemed to breathe. Enormous roots jutted from the earth like the backs of ancient, slumbering dragons, while vines descended from the treetops with the elegance of green curtains concealing centuries-old secrets. The humidity permeated the air with a sweet perfume of damp earth and new leaves, a scent so distinct from Scotland that she momentarily forgot she was in a competition. She gently rested her palm on the rough bark of one of the gigantic trees. The wood retained a warm glow, as if the entire forest had a pulse. She stood on tiptoe, trying to see beyond a tangle of intertwined branches. If she had to hide a flag there... where would she put it? It wasn't enough to think like her. She had to think like eight strangers, each with a different understanding of risk. Her gaze slowly scanned the roots, the bushes, the moss-covered stones, and the slight unevenness of the terrain. She searched for any detail that might disrupt the harmony of the landscape. A branch too neatly arranged, a recently moved bush, stirred earth, some tiny sign of human intervention, but she found nothing.
Then she heard Pam's voice. She barely turned her head, ready to answer, but she had barely opened her lips when something small, light, and surprisingly fast landed on her shoulders. Tiny hands began to tangle in her curls with absolute confidence. Then another hand arrived. Two capuchin monkeys: one tugged curiously at her headband while the other buried its fingers in her curls as if searching for hidden treasure.
"Hey!" Stelle let out a mixture of nervous laughter and a small gasp of surprise as she tried to gently push them away without hurting them. The little animals protested with indignant squeals every time she managed to pry one of their tiny hands free from her hair. For a few seconds, the scene was utter chaos: blond curls, tiny paws, leaves falling from above, and the distant sound of the waterfall mingling with the students' exclamations. Finally, with one last effort and a patience she didn't know she possessed, she managed to free her head.
The monkeys watched her for a moment with obvious disappointment, as if they had just lost the most entertaining toy in the entire jungle, before darting off into the treetops in search of another victim. Stelle let out a long exhaled breath as she tried to smooth her hair, though she suspected it was a completely lost battle. Her headband had survived, but her braid, on the other hand, not so much. She turned immediately to the rest of the group.
"Are you all right?" she asked with genuine concern as she scanned the area. She saw Pam first, still recovering from her own encounter with the capuchins. Then she spotted Robin, and a little further back, Adeline. They all seemed to have escaped the unexpected attack reasonably unscathed. She felt relief loosen her shoulders. Then she looked for another figure. Her smile faded slightly. She squinted as she studied the path they had walked along just moments before, though he wasn't there. The vegetation was so dense that the boy seemed to have been swallowed by the jungle itself. Only the enormous leaves rustling slowly remained, and the incessant roar of the waterfall drowned out any possibility of hearing footsteps.
"Luuk...?!" she called, raising her voice slightly. The water answered for him. For a few seconds she remained motionless, trying to discern any movement among the trees. It was then that something caught her attention. It wasn't the flag; she had carefully examined every visible corner of that area as they advanced, observing roots, stones, bushes, uneven terrain, and tree trunks with almost obsessive attention. After the monkey attack, she mentally reviewed the path they had taken, and the conclusion emerged with unexpected clarity. Area two was too obvious, too open for anyone to want to hide something so important. But now they had a certainty, and in a game like this, eliminating possibilities was also a way to get closer to victory. Stelle looked up at the thicket that stretched ahead. Relief had barely begun to settle in her chest when another commotion echoed amidst the roar of the waterfall. Stelle looked up into the thicket and could make out figures moving among the trees. The same capuchin monkeys that had attacked them seemed to have turned on the opposing team. Stelle stopped for a few seconds, as if his feet had become stuck to the floor so, just in case, she decided to move closer to her teammates.

The zone two terrain was more than difficult for Robin to safely traverse. Were there any spells she knew that could prevent her from being so damn clumsy? She was lucky she hadn't tripped face-first down the waterfall. Death by idiot who can't walk, Robin chided herself. The inner monologue that she didn't give a voice to knew that she would be significantly less clumsy if she simply chose to wear shoes her proper size - not likely, in less words. When the monkeys came, she really wasn't sure how she evaded their grasp, but she managed. Staying just a step ahead of them seemed to do a good enough job in the end.
After barely escaping with her wand, Robin finally spotted Adeline, who appeared to be setting something up with varying degrees of success. Robin's shoulders immediately loosened at the sight of the girl. "Addie!"
She sloshed through the murky river water to catch up to her friend, throwing her arms around the girl and squeezing tight. "Those monkeys... they nearly killed me dead." She moaned dramatically, hopefully to perhaps elicit at least some form of sympathy from Addie rather than the frustration that Robin was absolutely certain she was feeling at her sudden disappearance.
"Oh look. Enemies!" Robin perked up immediately at the sight of the other team in the zone. She clapped her hands twice. Things were about to start getting interesting!!

So one moment, Evangeline was standing alone, looking around for interesting plants, and the other moment she was surrounded by teammates, opponents, who would know, and in a fraction of a second, a huge snake appeared, and it attacked one of them. Evangeline couldn't move, she was stunned I mean, the thing was huge?! "Isn't there a Parseltongue around here, who can talk some sense into this nutcase?!" She said stressed out. "Wait is that a correct phrasing when the nutcase you are talking about is a snake?" She continued, clearly a bit blown away by the whole situation.
Now Evangeline had only one worry now, how on earth would she continue her journey, continue her plan if she would get attacked, or have people around her being attacked by snakes? She had no idea how to heal or take care of these wounds, she only knew what to feed a snake, or what plants could be venomous to them. But she didn't have her books so they couldn't help her here I mean. Probably regretting her decision after ways, she turns around and moves forward, continuing her plan as discussed. "Im sorry guys, I really gotta go!" She yells and she starts running, as if her life literally depends on it.

A scowl was firmly on Kikki’s face as she looked around for the opposing teams flag. It wasn’t as if there was a better thing to do, after all. While being in the middle of a new zone, the first thing one should do is ensure the very focus of the game was still reachable.
She scoured the location, searching up trees and underneath roots. Alas, nothing. Not a single thing did the Finnish girl uncover, except for a few puddles of mud that, rather annoyingly, splashed up and dirtied the backs of her legs. But her job had been done—there was no flag here. That meant that they had to keep moving. She glanced up, observing to see if the rest of her team had been quite as productive. It looked as though Aurelia had struggled against the Anaconda that had struck them in this location, while Kikki had been able to power through. The Durmstrang student was happy to see that Valeriy had also fought through. That put them in a good place. It was Kikki’s hope that the rest of their team was also surviving—despite the struggles being thrown at them, she was still very much determined to win.

| XXXXXX | Remaining in their home base with two utterly useless people had irritated Ivan, whilst the others moved through the jungle, Ivan remained to successfully set a trap, his hard work going unnoticed by the two teammates who remained with him — rarely communicating with them. Fortunately, he had gone unscathed as the Iara taunted his teammates, too fixated on his action at had which had been to complete the trap. He had conjured his first ever trap, surprised he had not failed in his endeavours — this instance serving as a key focal point in his entire mission to prove his father wrong. Unfortunately for Ivan, his father was nowhere near South America. Instead of lingering with the teammates he cared little to communicate with and clearly those who shared the same view as him, Ivan opted to move and follow his schoolmates who were likely further into the jungle than he had been. Unmotivated, he grumbled random words, namely insults, directed towards those he had been left with and contributed nothing thus far. Unaware of what his other teammates had done either, at the very least, Ivan had hoped the Durmstrang students had put their minds together and bared some fruit amidst the hurls that had been tossed their way. |

─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────The monke fauna of castelo had seemed to find a twisted liking to Arno, a liking one could distinctively recall as an annoyance. The residents began working less as a sweet reminder and more akin to obstructions in his path. Sigh, another attempt at finding a wand he'd just regained. Today was a funny day as any, but Arno hadn't felt such genuine dislike for a living being in quite a while. The only saving grace os this whole ordeal was the notion that it had to end one someday.
For the rest of round, the raven haired boy went on a little detour as he attempted to find his wand back. Taking a note of his surroundings, he found an unlikely face nearby, another wandering soul searching for their wand; much akin to him.
"You lost yours too? I'm beginning to hate this place. It's hot, it's rough, it's coarse and it's filled with monkeys and they keep taking my wand." Shaking his head, he ventured forth until he chanced upon the prized possession he'd been looking for. "Fucking finally" the boy exclaimed rushing towards the piece of wood that was much like an extension of his own body through their shared experience.

Were these no good monkeys so dead seat on terrorising her even serious at this point. Again?? The repetition of her misfortune was just old, repulsive, and depressing once she had forced herself to engage in the tag of war between herself and lowlier primates. Petty creatures.
Although Liliya did not have much exposure to animals during her childhood. But from the books she read, they were supposed to be cute. These kleptomanic sadists were really cute, actually, if you had masochistic tendencies.
Instead of being annoyed about the monkeys stealing her wand however, she had to focus on trying to locate the flag, rather than allow herself to be distracted.
It seemed that, however, her friend Arno was suffering from the same predicament, and it was not a situation isolated to her unfortunate circumstances.
“I’ve always hated this place since the beginning,” Liliya commented back in Arno’s direction, trying to locate him through the mess of the underbrush as they moved.
She would have much rather preferred a beach house on the shores of Tenusa, but last she heard of the event, peace was granted to no one, for even then something had gone wrong.
At least this was mildly in control.
