Midnight Mayhem Part 1
Subconsciously, Lucia scowled slightly. It made her face look almost ugly for a moment, and Lucia quickly took a moment to re-arrange her face into an expression less... depressing.@Alina Rosier
"Yes," Lucia answered, "Yes, Ebony is my mother. I just always call her Ebony rather than 'mother' because..." Lucia paused for a second. She had never really thought before about why she and her sisters called Ebony by her name rather than 'mother', or 'mum', or whatever people called their female parents these days.
"I'm not really sure why," Lucia continued slowly. "That's just how it's always been."
After a second during which she simply sat in silence, as if in deep thought, she coughed and the sudden, unexpected sound brought a laugh to her lips.
It was the sort of laugh that is laughed for no reason other than you can't help it; and Lucia certainly couldn't help it now as she almost doubled over, giggling hysterically.
After a moment or two full or explosive snorts and hiccups, Lucia managed to pull herself together and sat up straight again, grinning.
"Well, that was unexpected," she joked and immediately started laughing again.
"Didn't - we - uh - have - something to plan?" she gasped between awkward, unstoppable giggles.

Alina didn't quite understand it. The girl went from looking downright disgusted to laughing - a lot. But who was she to try and question what was going on in someone else's mind? She already had asked a question that wasn't something the girl wanted to answer so she realized it was best to just stop asking questions and get back to planning, even if she did wish to learn more about the other.
That was one of Alina's main things, to get to know someone, to understand them. When they stayed hidden in their own world she couldn't do that and it really caused friction when trying to make friendships. But that was okay, this could be a party planning meeting.
"Okay, so ideas...." back to work. "Are we thinking things like food, snacks, possible dancing, a little bit of music. We probably could rule out decorating since that might spark interest and we don't want curiosity sparked in those that we don't want curiosity sparked in."
It seemed that Lucia was the one with the background knowledge for all this. Maybe she could deliver her thoughts and Alina could organize it all out. She also wrote another section out on her notepad with: Guests?
It felt wrong not to invite everyone but they couldn't. The prefects alone would have it shut down so fast.

Midnight Mayhem Part 1
Lucia was grateful that her new friend hadn't asked further questions - she was most definitely not in the mood to talk about her family right now. Although, admittedly, she wasn't often in the mood to talk about her family. She thought about her mother, Ebony, who had disowned her own mother for the 'crime' of being Veela, who had taught her daughters about the importance of the would-be purity of their blood, and yet did all this because she loved them and wanted to protect them.Interacting with @Alina Rosier
Lucia pulled over the edge of her sleeve to look at the embroidered crest which Ebony used as a name tag. There was one hidden on every one of her clothes. The crest was blood-red and outlined in creeping green vines, topped with a golden crown. Curled protectively around the point at the bottom was a pale scroll bearing the Latin words 'in aeturnum'. It meant 'forever', signifying the endlessness of the Fox clan and the blood that would forever be pure.
'Well, that worked,' Lucia thought sarcastically, then turned her sleeve back over, hiding the crest once more.
Suddenly, she realised that Alina was speaking.
"Yeah, I guess we probably shouldn't decorate. And people should probably come in pjamas too," Lucia said slightly glumly - she liked decorating places. Then her face brightened. "But I could always get some flowers and arrange them in vases, then put them round earlier like a good deed! That's what Hufflepuffs do, right?
And we can get food from the kitchens, I bet the house-elves wouldn't mind... Dancing and music - Well, I suppose I could sing a bit," she said doubtfully. "Do you know anyone with a record player or something like that?"

She thought of the cassette player that Clifton had given her but it began acting up one night when she used it on her dormitory. Upon inquiring about it she found that his had too. Strange. Maybe muggle contraptions just didn’t work at Hogwarts. Maybe that’s why there were no electric lights or other such objects.
“Sadly I don’t...but I know there’s a lot of musically inclined people here, maybe one of them can play an instrument low.” It was a bit silly but maybe could work.
And it only made sense to be in pajamas but she didn’t know if she wanted Clifton to see her in them! She’d have to get a really cute pair or something. She jotted that down on the list.
“I like you’re idea about the flowers ahead of time. You’re right, it would just be the Hufflepuff thing to do!” Actually this whole event really was.
“I wonder if the kitchen elves take special requests. Maybe some brownies or lemon squares.” Alina loved anything lemon. “And we’d need some refreshments too.” But that would be easy enough.
“It might get pretty packed in the common room depending on how many actually show up,” but it was probably the more the merrier.

Upon hearing that they were a bit short the musical side of things, Lucia sighed.Sorry for the late reply, @Alina Rosier
"At home Ebony didn't often let us use Muggle things, but I often -" Lucia's face lit up. "My radio! Those work just about anywhere you can get a signal - I can send an owl to Briar and ask her to send it to me!"
Alina said something about the food at the party and Lucia silently noted that she should also ask Briar to send along some biscuits or something similar.
"You like lemon squares?" Lucia asked her friend curiously. "I've always been more of a chocolate cookie person myself,"
Lucia wondered if you could be a 'chocolate cookie person' - but then again, she had always had a sweet tooth for chocolate. After all, surely everyone liked chocolate! Especially chocolate frogs - Lucia remembered that whenever her family ate them at home Willow would insist on unwrapping hers first and would giggle as she watched it hop around the room, before catching it and eating it up. Briar, on the other hand, was more into spice than sugar, which Lucia always teased her younger sister about.
"We probably shouldn't invite too many people," she said thoughtfully. "We don't want anyone to give anything away to the teachers or perfects."

"We have to invite Clifton Troublefield," she said quickly but then paused, wondering how she could play it off. "He's um...he's my good...." friend? No, she couldn't. He meant too much. "He's my boyfriend," she said softly. Most people thought it was insane for an eleven year old to have a boyfriend and she would have too before she met Clifton. But it wasn't as if the two were in corners snogging or anything like that.
No, he strengthened her with his words and his actions and downright fascinated him. He was everything she needed right now, to hold together those missing pieces of herself that she just didn't have right now.
"I can also order anything that needs ordered," Alina offered up. She had money, well...her family had money, and she had access to it. She might not have someone at home that could send her stuff but she could order out and have it delivered there by Owl. It was how she had gotten some of her painting supplies.
"Anything else you can think of?" It seemed like Lucia really had this all under control and it would be a fun night. She was looking forward to it and was glad to be included.

"That'd be great," replied Lucia to Alina's offer to order some things in. "But we have more important things to talk about now,"Interacting with @Alina Rosier
Her eyes sparkled. "Mostly being the question of a certain Clifton Troublefield,"
Lucia's face broke out into a grin as she teased, "Your boyfriend,"
Lucia Fox didn't think it was at all strange to be dating someone at the age of eleven years old. Although only that age herself, she was a hopeless romantic and - though she had never actually been in a romantic relationship with anyone - was constantly sizing up the male specimens around her and comparing them to the dashing Princes of Muggle fairy tales, of which the Hogwarts library boasted a large collection of. Indeed, on most of those, the girls were married by just age fifteen!
Lucia would never wish to be married that young, of course, but she always found it wonderfully romantic that their love was so deep they were married within the month. Unlike her practical sister Briar, she had never questioned how the couple would navigate married life having only known each other for a month.
"So, what does he look like?" Lucia asked, begining to mercilessly quiz her friend on her boyfriend. "How long have you known each other?" A flash of inspiration can to her and she added, "Will he know anyone trustworthy to come to the party?"
Lucia never thought for a moment they Clifton might not be in Hufflepuff - how could a pair have a relationship between houses? As Alina herself had said in regard to her sister, Bella, it was hard to even see people from other houses.

Where did she begin when it came to Clifton? "Umm, I've known him since the beginning of the term. We met in the Common Room and have since avoided detention together the entire year," she smiled. "There was an incident with some magical creatures, trips to the Astronomy Tower, picnics near the Lake, finding secret passages in the castle, pranks, our own system for delivering messages to one another, dances, being brave enough for my first kiss, him telling me about the muggle world. It's all been really great..." and she only hesitated because normally she didn't get that. Greatness. Normally others around her had that and she was the observer. She was lucky to have Clifton and she knew that.
"I'm sure he'd know some. I think his best friends are a Gryffindor and Slytherin though. We've got friends within the Hufflepuffs though, like Lindsey Springhall and Alexa Mackenzie." Those two girls had gone on the secret passage adventure with her and Clifton and were awesome.
"We definitely need dancing," she declared randomly as she thought back to their event. She knew Lucia was already planning it but it had been one of her favorite things to do with Clifton since she helped to teach him how. "So when should this happen?"

As Alina described the fun she'd had - was having - with her boyfriend, Lucia sighed inwardly. She loved hearing about happy couples and could tell from the way Alina spoke about Clifton that they were definitely a happy couple, but she couldn't help being a bit jealous. She had never been in a relationship like that. She probably never would be - Ebony wanted her to marry some rich pureblood she had never met before when she left Hogwarts. For the first time she began to wish that Ebony wasn't her mother - no. That is a horrible thing to think, Lucia reprimanded herself sharply. She just wished that her mother would back off a bit, that was all...Interacting with @Alina Rosier
Lucia hated the uneasy feeling begining to settle in her stomach and for a moment was glad that she was Hufflepuff and not Slytherin. The thought was a strange one, and though Lucia tried to embrace it there was a part of her that simply wouldn't let it in.
"Lindsey Springhall and Alexa Mackenzie," she said, "Right. Four of us should be good, I think, we'll have enough space then for the dancing and food. How about at the weekend, on Saturday night?" she proposed, explaining, "Then we won't be really tired in class the next day."

"Definitely the weekend!" Alina agreed. "Sadly my grades are bad enough as is without adding a weekday/class the next day into it all," she glanced down, not wishing she admitted that. Alina wasn't completely stupid but classes did come difficult to her and she already gave off a pretty bad first impression.
"I mean...it'd be better if it was on a weekend and then we wouldn't have to put our focus somewhere else too," she tried to cover. She knew it was no use now, at least to take back what she had said.
Alina finished her sketch she was doing on her notebook. "I'll create a sort of banner for it as well. Of course I won't put it up until after everyone's gone to bed. I'm trying out my hand at painting," but she didn't think she was the best at it. She had room to improve, that was for sure, but she also really was a natural at it. There was something about her style that seemed to grab people's attention and if she really wanted to take that somewhere and improve on it, she could go far.
"Your sisters..." it was something she had been thinking of when Lucia talked, "you must really miss them while you're here." Maybe that was truly the reason Lucia wanted to throw this even.
