Midnight Mayhem Part 1
Lucia stood awkwardly by the open door, watching the steady stream of Hogwarts students flow out into the courtyard in a sea of green, red, yellow, blue and black.@Alina Rosier
She glanced at her watch, then remembered that she and Alina Rosier had not agreed on a specific time to meet.
After supper, Alina had said in her last letter.
Lucia hoped that she would turn up.
Tapping her foot on the stone cobbles beneath her, Lucia began to him a little tune.
Maybe they could have a dance at the feast - yes, that would be fun. As long as everyone was quiet and took their shoes off it would probably work. Lucia resolved to mention it to Alina when she arrived. If she arrived.
Suddenly, while she was lost in her thoughts and music, she tumbled to the ground, hitting her head on the stone.
"Watch it!" a boy said as he stumbled past Lucia, "You nearly had me over!"
Lucia picked herself up. Her cheeks went red and she was about to start shouting about how he had had her over when she realised that the boy was gone. Sighing, she clutched her head and decided she would have to go to the hospital wing later, after she had met Alina.

Midnight Mayhem Part 1
She didn't like this sort of thing. Alina was the type that wanted everything planned out or to know what was going on. She loved an adventure but hated the anticipation of a surprise. If a surprise was unknown to her, it was lovely, but that build up in knowing yet not knowing was difficult for her.Interacting with @Lucia Fox
This felt like that. She had only conversed with Lucia via Owl and part of her wondered still if it weren't one of Bella's Slytherin friends playing a sick joke on her. Bella wouldn't do that, but she could see a first-year Slytherin finding it amusing in the boredom of their day.
But not, she was going to be trusting. She walked with her friends until she saw the girl and then paused, leaning in to give a Hufflepuff boy a quick kiss on the cheek and then waved goodbye before getting the courage to bound over to the girl who sat alone with her head in her hand. It appeared to Alina as she approached that the girl was bored waiting for her but as she drew closer she noticed that she might have been hurt.
"You okay?" she asked softly and there was concern in her voice. That was the most important part of this conversation with the girl. She came and sat next to her, ready to see if she could help no matter who she was but seeing the Hufflepuff uniform she felt she was in the right spot for her meeting as well. "Lucia Fox?"

"You okay?"
The soft voice seemed to spring out of nowhere, and Lucia jumped slightly, then raised her head to see who it was. It was a Hufflepuff girl - Lucia could Lett from the yellow badger adorning robes identical to her own - and she was certain she had seen her somewhere before.
"Lucia Fox?"
Yes - it was Alina! Lucia could see her features more clearly now - the honey-blond hair, the tanned skin.
Lucia jumped up, dusting herself down.
"Yes! Alina Rosier?" she asked, although she was certain of the answer.
"Uh, nice to meet you," Lucia said, holding out her hand, then joked, "Although to be honest it feels like we've already met,"
Lucia was slightly impatient to get on with talking about and planning for the feast... party... whatever they were calling it, she was certainly impatient. However, she held herself in.
'Formalities, Lucia,' she reminded herself. Strangely, the chiding voice in her head was almost identical to that of her mother Ebony - after all, the woman had often reminded her daughters of such things. They were Foxes, and must behave accordingly.
'Formalities,'
Her cheeks flushed slightly with the excitement of it all - boarding school was (hopefully) going to be just as fun as it had seemed in the books.

She shook her hand but then gave her customary greeting of a somewhat curtsy and sat down. "Now that I see you, I've noticed that I've seen you..." her voice trailed off because that was worded a little strangely. She needed to stop that kind of thing. This was probably why Rose Moon thought Alina had been a little stupid when she first met her and has since said she's 'smarter than she first thought she was.'
Not that Alina was smart. Her grades would prove that she wasn't - but stupid wasn't the right word either. She had different priorities than grades anyway.
"So, to be honest, I don't know where we start first. Talk more about our shared similar experiences, complain about the Hufflepuff house, try and defend the Hufflepuff house since we have to deal with it for the next seven years, get to know one another a little more, talk about the cutest boys in school, or party plan," she looked over to Lucia and smiled as she sat down beside her.
"I'm up for any of them, or all of them. Or three at once," she laughed and opened up her bag. She pulled out a notebook that she had and a quick-writing quill that she wouldn't have to reink, ready just in case she'd have to jot down any notes.
Let your confidence shine, pretty girl.

'Ebony would love this girl,' Lucia thought, mentally shaking her head and smiling - her mother was a great fan of people who kept up the traditional customs.
Then she realised that Alina had started talking.
"Now that I see you, I've noticed that I've seen you..." then the girl trailed off. Lucia was about to ask 'Seen me before? Where?' but Alina carried on talking as if attempting to smooth over her question.
"So, to be honest, I don't know where we start first. Talk more about our shared similar experiences, complain about the Hufflepuff house, try and defend the Hufflepuff house since we have to deal with it for the next seven years, get to know one another a little more, talk about the cutest boys in school, or party plan. I'm up for any of them, or all of them. Or three at once," she said, laughing, then took out a small notebook and quill. She had no ink, and Lucia was slightly confused by that for a moment before she noticed that it was a quick-writing quill, so she didn't need any. Another thing Ebony would have approved of. Lucia was glad that Alina had brought a notebook with her, because she herself had forgotten in the excitement. She laughed along with Alina, and then realised something; she liked this girl. It seemed quite astonishing to Lucia, as the two had, after all, only just met, but still, there it was. She was funny, although Lucia didn't know whether she meant to be or not, she seemed to like to talk about almost everything Lucia did, and she was organised - very good friend material thought a small voice in her head. Pure blooded, too. Again, the voice sounded like Ebony and Lucia slightly shook her head as if clearing it of such thoughts.
"All of those sound good to me," Lucia said laughing, "But I think we might be forced to leave out the cute boys - I haven't met any yet!
"How about we start with getting to know one another, then party plan? We don't have much time to waste!" she proposed.

That was heavy though! Trying to get to know someone seemed like such a difficult task to accomplish and yet it really wasn't. Not in reality, only in Alina's thoughts. All Alina had to do was blabber on as usual and she got to know people. She was easy to get to know too, you saw the good, the bad, the ugly, all right there. If someone didn't like her, then they didn't like her but she was never fake and always genuine.
"Okay, well...one question I had since you said you were from a pureblood familiy and such... Are you finding yourself with incredibly high expectations that are impossible to meet and constantly trying to give off the perception of perfection even though it's clearly not there? At least, it's not in my family. I sometimes wonder if people that work in circuses don't have more stability than my family has..."
She probably shouldn't have said that but it was true. And sadly, Alina didn't hold too much respect for her father or her grandmother these days. She had met others who talked to highly of their parents or noticed that parents actually spent TIME with some of their children - had conversations with them, took them on trips, missed them while they were gone. She didn't have that.
Let your confidence shine, pretty girl.

Midnight Mayhem Part 1
Lucia couldn't help a small snort when it came to the end of Alina's speech, but her mind quickly turned to the question she had been asked.Interacting with @Alina Rosier
Lucia shouldn't answer. She knew she shouldn't - she may like Alina Rosier, and she may be from a respectable pure blooded family, but Lucia definitely shouldn't be sharing her thoughts about her family to someone she had only just met.
Even if she had a sneaking suspicion that they would be friends soon enough - at any rate, she hoped that they would be. But Alina had something about her - maybe it was that she was so open herself, maybe it was that she had agreed to meet Lucia even though she had never seen her face-to-face before (or had she? Lucia remembered that she had almost said something of the sort), but - whatever it was - the girl had a kind of air around her that made Lucia feel that she could confide in her.
Even though she knew she shouldn't.
Lucia gasped slightly at the revelation that her and Alina were even more similar than they had thought.
"Yes, actually! Ebony wants us to be perfect and..." Here, Lucia paused for a second before continuing quieter, and slightly hesitantly. " Sometimes I'm afraid that one of us will just... crack, under the strain. By 'us' I mean me and my sisters - there's Briar, she's ten and really, I mean really smart - I reckon she'll be in Ravenclaw when she comes here, which Ebony isn't particularly happy about but, as she says, cunning and cleverness aren't that far apart. And there's Willow - she's just five and fascinated with creatures, specifically magical ones, although she hasn't seen any of the more impressive ones of course. She hasn't had her first magic yet and she's scared to death she'll be a Squib but I bet she won't.
Lucia paused to take a breath, then asked, "You have a twin, right?"

Alina was glad to hear that Lucia had sisters too. Even if not a twin, it was still something in common more so than if she didn't have any siblings at all. She did wonder who Ebony was and figured it was her mother, but she'd ask later. Right now she had her own question to answer. Lucia had asked about her having a twin sister.
"I do. Bella. She was sorted into Slytherin," Alina said and her voice lowered a bit in the end due to jealousy perhaps. Lucia should understand though. It was the house where both girls that sat there in the Courtyard thought they would have been placed into. Maybe it was out of sadness though because she didn't see Bella every day like she had all the prior days of their lives. It was certainly different now...an entire school full of students and various professors instead of just her and Bella at home with their governess.
"She seems to like it, too. I haven't gotten a chance to talk to her all that much with the house system." Different classes, different tables during meal times, different common rooms. "But yeah, she says its nice. The common room is rather elegant and she found it was pretty easy to make friends." Lots of like-minded people.
Let your confidence shine, pretty girl.

"Lucky her," Lucia muttered only half-sarcastically, then she sighed.Interacting with @Alina Rosier
"I guess we should just make the most of Hufflepuff, shouldn't we - after all, it's all we've got for the next few years, right? Unless we have to leave for some reason, and I know Ebony won't pull me out, even if she finds out I'm Hufflepuff."
She paused for a moment, contimplating Ebony's reaction when she did find out, but the thought was almost definitely not a good one, so she stopped and continued.
"I'm, uh, sorry you had to get separated from her," Lucia ventured awkwardly.
"If I had a twin I don't think we'd ever spend a second apart, although actually I bet that gets a bit annoying sometimes, always having to be a double act rather than your own person."
Lucia was by now impatient to talk about the midnight party. She wondered if it would be rude of her to change the subject, and shot a quick glance at Alina, then decided that it probably wouldn't be.
"I had a few ideas for the midnight party... feast... thing, whatever we're going to call it," she said, cursing herself for not having decided what to call it beforehand.

Midnight Mayhem Part 1
Interacting with @Lucia Fox
Alina began to write out Ideas for the Midnight Party/Feast/Soiree on the top of the parchment that rested on her lap. She was ready to hear what her new friend had to say. She did worry a little bit though that it wouldn't go over, but maybe that's something that they'd have to plan for. She had met at least one of the Hufflepuff prefects at the table at The Great Hall once and she was a big stickler for the rules...making her a big stick in the mud at the same time.
Still, it was probably just the position. One most likely wouldn't be prefect if they weren't enforcing the rules and she didn't need to hold the girl personally responsible for just trying to do her job.
This event sounded fun. Any chance to be out and about after curfew was good to her and food? Possible dancing? Seeing Clifton Troublefield a little longer? All good points to her and she was eager to get this going. Plus she could then introduce Lucia to the others.
"So, one quick question," she paused, unsure if she should overstep but no, they were becoming friends and knowing things about one another is part of what friends did, "...Well, you say Ebony. Is that your mum?"
Let your confidence shine, pretty girl.
