The nerves only hit her after she walked onto the pitch. A few weeks back, she had been asked if she would like to be captain of a quidditch team for an unofficial match. At the time, she had accepted, wonder why she might have been asked. For duelling, maybe it wouldn't be such a wonder, but she wasn't exactly known for her Quidditch. Nevertheless she went along with it. She spent the weeks coming up to the game, finding players willing to join, and even players from other schools. She didn't have much knowledge when it came to what qualities were needed in a player, but she tried. And then came the rules. That was when she started having second thoughts on her captaincy. The rules were more relaxed, and quite... experimental. There was no better word to describe them. But now that the time had come, she would go along with it, of course.

Julia walked onto the pitch, her Comet 180 in her hand. Her team had decided on the name 'Sapphire Storms' and they were up against team Ultraviolet. Damien Dragonclaw was the captain of the opposition, and, as she scanned the other faces, she got a feeling it would be a very close match. Julia herself was to be a benched player, and she hoped she wouldn't have to go up. Not just because of nerves, but also because if she did have to go up, it would mean someone in her team went down. She really preffered that not happening.

She took her place, and the game started

Playing Quidditch was something Elisa would never back off from, despite any hurdles in her way, including the upcoming holidays that brought her yet another chill up her spine, Orpheus's graduation soon, and would take over everything, closing the unfinished chapter of her father's role in the family. She shook her head as she returned her mind from the thoughts of it, as her fingers tightened against the hard wood of her broom, his last gift.

She made her way to the pitch, her platinum hair tied into a messy bun, as strands gently lay on her face. Her gaze remained with a lack of much emotion as she looked around. She barely knew anyone; while there was Draven, a guy she'd met before everything fell apart, from a time when she was nothing more than a cheerful preteen trying to scale her new life in the school, but right now she wished not to interact with anyone. Her eyes fell on some others, Julia, Zach, they were people she'd interacted with perhaps once? Never much

She slowly mounted on her broom as she listened to what the caretaker had to say, his words on a clean-fair game, almost naive, thinking a Quidditch match'd go without a single foul was like thinking the sky'd suddenly turn green.

Elisa cracked her neck in an attempt to ease her mind before the sport as she took off to face the game.

Samuel J. 'Fire' Davies . First Year . Hufflepuff ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

For the first time in Fire's life he actually found some relief, relief that he was assigned second string. A silent victory, a win that hadn't been received yet. Usually he would complain or battle back, why the HECK was he second-string? But on a day like this, he had stayed up nearly all yesterday with countless activities and then completing mountains of homework ! The boy had slept his normal schedule, yet it felt as if he was more tired than before he had even slept !!

The boy grumbled to himself, he was a sour grumpy mood, unfortunately for all his teammates that had to deal with the backend of his atrocious attitude, which consisted of something akin to a toddler. His arms crossed and his cheeks puffed every time someone even uttered a word to him. He would've called his whole part within the unofficial match if it weren't for not wanting to ruin his reputation. So with dragging feet he came anyways, walking over to his crewmates, his face in an ugly sneer as he spoke to them. Fire hadn't even bothered to introduce himself before he sat on the bench. Half-hearted cheers and chest rumbling boos drilled from the sidelines, his eyebrows scrunched during the whole while.

The match started normally enough, if with the daunting presence of one @Kotoka Sako. That the man would make the effort to show his face here, in the student's free time just before a ball.... Mahdi was not sure if the man was a pillar of support for his school, or a slave driver under whose tyrannical supervision children had no choice but to excel in all the traditional metrics of school.
The Bench
Luckily, it appeared that his momentary distraction had not cost him anything, as neither side attempted anything too problematic immediately. Or at the last, nothing that he had caught, anyway.

The bench was much larger than typical games, but not much different otherwise, as second-string members of both sides watch the match unfold and cheer and boo for the players in the field.

The Quaffle
He had stacked the deck differently this time, using a non-standard training snitch that was faster and more difficult to catch that the ones typically used in games. The Players knew this too, and it seemed that they had alternated their strategy to account for this, with more investment on the Quaffle, and less on the hoops. Aggression, it seemed, was the watchword for the day.

If nothing else, it did show that Landon, the reserve keeper for Hufflepuff who had been on the benches this year, was quite dangerous in the Quaffle game.

The Snitch
The Snitch was meant to be an evasive little bugger, meant to drag on the game and force both sides to play harder and look into other avenues of victory. But it seemed that the one side had actually managed to spot the snitch already. Would they immediately give chase?

The Bludgers
And then there were the bludgers, With the increasing aggression of the sport in recent times, bludgering had become its own bloodsport of late, and the players seemed to have been prepared accordingly.

Something different in this game though. Kanae's form seemed off, and she hit the bludger badly; only for her hit to be intercepted by Damien and shot right back at her. She dodged, only to be targeted by the bludger from Aplhonse. perhaps it was the angle, but Alphonse's bludger, inteded for Kanae swerved towards Damien who had to take ariel maneuvers to avoid it.

This cool banner was made by Novalie Moon
Zach flew his broom. It started with an unstable stance, and Zach quickly reminded himself how to fix it. He looked at Landon to look for his validation. After all, Landon was the one who taught him how to fly and the one who supported him to fight his fear of heights. Landon Matthews

Stable levitation in the sky, Zach looked at the moderator. He was Mahdi Hassan, the Caretaker in Hogwarts. Zach hadn't had any interaction with the man. He didn't know if he would interact with him because he looked scary. He wondered why Hogwarts employed a scary-looking person to be the students' caretaker. But his judgement could be wrong. Maybe he was a scary-looking man with a Hello Kitty heart.

He also saw another man in the spectator stadium that he believed was the Headmaster of Mahoutokoro. He brought... a blinding banner. Zach suddenly felt embarrassment. He was pretty lucky that his Headmaster or Head of House didn't do what that man did. That man reminded him of the uncles in their nephews' games. If Zach could take his wand to burn that banner without making any problems, he would do it immediately.

But he must put his focus on something more important.

In front of him, the game started. He heard some boos and cheered. He also saw some who didn't really take any interest in the game, or perhaps they did; Zach didn't know.

He flew near Landon since he didn't really understand how to play Quidditch. He was that typical boy who screamed when the others screamed and booed when the others booed. What he understood was the goal and the snitch grab. So he kept flying behind Landon, tailing him.

Landon often grabbed the Quaffle and passed it to Zach so he could throw it to the goal post. His first attempt succeeded! He gave the boy the biggest grin he could make. The second attempt, Zach couldn't do it. "Sorry!" he said in a high-pitched voice since he didn't know if his normal voice could reach him in this situation.

The next one was weird. Landon grabbed the Quaffle from him, but then he turned it back. Zach was flustered, confused, and didn't know what to do. But he quickly regained his awareness once he saw the other Chaser and threw the Quaffle to the goalpost. The next one was successful; the next after it, Landon wasn't successful in his attempt to grab the Quaffle. Zach flew over him and said, "Hehe, good job! Thank you for letting me throw the Quaffle."

Damien was still not used to being a beater but he was starting to fed the hang of it or so he thought, just as he intercepted one bludger Alphonse sends another one towards him, sure it wasn’t on purpose as Kanae had managed to dodge greatly but he did not fancy getting hit and ending up with a concussion or something as he had yet to visit the hospital wing and did not plan too.

He flew back next to Alphonse before looking at him. “Hey! Watch where you hitting those things! I don’t want to explain to Tantie why I got a concussion!” He was mostly just teasing Alphonse but he seriously knew both of them did not want to explain to Sarai how Damien for a concussion. He just was getting used to having therapy so did not want more things to talk about.

He patted Alphonse on the back as he just smiled at him before sticking his tongue out and flying off. Damien always found himself in a goofier more playful side that he enjoyed to let out once in awhile. But he would tease Alphonse later as he had yet to mention the pink hair incident but for now he needed to focus on this match. Plus he was finding himself really enjoying the bat beaters used.

In the role of Chaser when you attempt to catch a passed Quaffle (such as when the Keeper has possession of the Quaffle and passes it to a teammate) you have advantage (meaning that it is rolled twice and you keep the better option) on attempts to catch if the opponent team attempts to intercept.
In the role of Keeper when you attempt to block your goal, if your opponent somehow has advantage on attempting to score a goal, that is negated (they only have their normal single roll against you).
In the role of Seeker when you have found the snitch, if someone attempts to use Alley Oop to help you find the snitch, you will not have disadvantage. However, with this broom you do not gain the +1 chance to grab the snitch for rounds that the Alley Oop is used. To clarify, each round someone attempts to grab a snitch they get a +1 to the attempt and this stacks. There is no bonus (or stack from this round's attempt to grab) to grabbing the snitch.
In the role of Beater, if you hit an opponent with a bludger the bludger will then ricochet off that user and target a second opponent of choice at disadvantage (must be declared, if not declared the target will be random and can be an ally but not yourself). Ricochet damage is 75% of the original hit.
The whistle blew, and the game was on. Forget the fact that he barely knew who his own teammates were. That wasn’t important, right? Right. He had been set to saving duty for the round. Thankfully no one of the Sapphire Storm fell off their broom. That was perhaps for the best. He had intended to keep his attention on the beaters, as in his experience they were the reason most people fell. But somehow they had mostly decided to play catch with each other instead.

Very little fouls were to be seen either. In his opinion a bit of cheating could only enhance a game. But such was life when those in charge decided to take the referees spiel about «a nice clean game» seriously. Not much he could do about it. Max found himself wrapped up in the play for the quaffle, and failed on more than one occasion to keep his attention where it should be. The Hufflepuff fourth year seemed to truly be in a groove. As far as Max knew the badger had mostly been keeping the bench warm during the official games. Turns out he could actually handle a quaffle. Good for him! Grabbing and handing it off to a ravenclaw that seemed to be at least a bit less full of himself than stupid Dragonclaw. Not only did he get the quaffle when passed, but he also scored for all but empty hoops. Max’s mind drifted further as he cast a glance at the seekers looking high and low for that glint of gold. Was it? Yes, it did indeed seem like a smart guy on his team had succeeded in locating it. Huzza for that!

Frankly, Mamori had no idea what he'd done to deserve being mentioned in the same breath as Maisie Gemma Gemmell, the reigning queen of full attendance in the jock division, who had probably played two to three times as many unofficial matches as him this season alone. But he'd almost let this short menace lead him astray from the actual issue, that alone was the real crime here. "The only reason you'd notice how many matches I've played is if you'd been in most of them yourself," he said, chewing on a crisp and sliding a sideways glance toward @Aodhan Shaw, "which honestly just means we've been catching the same condition this whole time."

That was when his attention drifted toward his snack cart and the marshmallow biscuit wrapper sitting on top of it, torn open and contents down by one biscuit. The pink-haired badger narrowed his eyes at the crime scene, slightly irritated but not about to let a good opportunity for some extra pocket money slip by, so he held up the carcass and gave it a little shake in front of Aodhan's face. "That'll be 3 knuts, plus 1 knut for me personally hauling this cart all the way over here, plus 1 knut in tax, so 5 knuts total. Would you like to settle now or should I just send the bill to your room." He'd tack on another 2 knuts later for paper and ink when the invoice actually got drafted.

Somewhere in the middle of enjoying his snacks the match had started, and this round landed him on cheer duty for a bro with chocolate colored skin, a job he treated with bare minimum required to count as participating. All he managed was three half hearted, voice-cracking-through-puberty shouts of encouragement before he went right back to munching. Whether that had anything to do with said bro's aim going sideways is anyone's guess, but the ball did end up close enough to clip a certain trust fund kid. A bit of a shame either way, he genuinely couldn't tell you which was more disappointing, the ball missing the enemy the team had been hoping to hit, or not catching the trust fund kid square on instead.

Also, forget visible blood, the broom casualty count was still sitting at zero, did they swap the pitch out for a petting zoo???

"What the actual hell, a whole round and not a single foul." Mamori slumped back into the bench, mood souring by the second. "Guys, where is the violence in this sport, if nobody delivers in the next 5 minutes I'm gone, I've seen livelier chess matches."

Barely paying attention to Elena’s frown, Camille glanced around the pitch. Except for Romélie, who was currently giving him the sort of impish grin that promised trouble, and Elena, of course, he didn’t know any of the other players. Hearing her question, absurdly wondering if he’d brought another broom, he scoffed, an amused smile stretching over his lips as he slowly tore his attention away from a fixed spot on the opposite end of the pitch, back to the honeyed blonde beside him.

“Another one?” The boy repeated, humoring the question, as much as it sounded ridiculous to him. “No, why? It’s a firebolt. There will be no need for another broom.” It was the best one on the market; nothing else could compare in terms of performance. For obvious reasons—his inexperience, for one—a person like him should not have needed to explain that to her, someone who appeared to possess genuine enthusiasm for the sport.

In a confusing series of events, Camille had somehow been robbed of his expensive firebolt and acquired a less flashy variant, in terms of reputation: a silver arrow. The boy looked at the new broom in his hand with a skeptical scowl, as if the sheer price tag of it was astounding to someone of his caliber. The color was admittedly an upgrade—silver, as the name suggested—and the overall design was sleeker and modern, if one was being charitable. However, being told he was too much of a novice, and not good enough to ride a firebolt was frankly insulting, a major strike to his ego and competence. As if the indignity of riding on a broom in the first place wasn’t enough, he thought, letting out a small scoff that disappeared with the wind. Displeased, the French boy threw a daggered glare to his companion. Elena would not know about this slight unless asked, since he was equally concerned with keeping up appearances, but his general attitude from that moment onward spoke for itself. Sulking, he leaned back on the bench, crossed his leg over his knee and his arms mimicked their movement across his chest.

“I didn’t know you were this passionate about this sport.” Interesting. Camille’s voice was doused by the previous warmth of seeing his dear Elena.

The observation was not meant as a compliment, especially coming from him, but if she was half as distracted as her alert gaze suggested, she would likely not pay enough attention to read between the lines. Breathing in deeply, he slowly exhaled to collect himself. After a brief glance around the pitch, the worst part, he realized, was that their whole goddamn team sported the same model of broomstick. Not only was he not entrusted with the broom he’d arrived with, but he was slummed with the masses. Unacceptable. Frankly, he didn’t care about the outcome of the game as much as looking his best. That included his gear—carefully handpicked to stand out, might he add. Lips pressed together tightly, he quietly fumed while the game kicked off.

Samuel J. 'Fire' Davies . First Year . Hufflepuff ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

Fire looked over at his teammates that sat on the bench with him, there were a few familiar faces as well as none. The boy would've spoken up, maybe even conversed with them, made a few acquaintances if it wasn't for his current sour mood that made him feel very asocial, unlike his usual self.

He mulled thoughts in his mind over and over, as his teammates had gotten set to showing some ultraviolet spirit, cheering, booing, and strategizing. Fire just sat, hands in his pocket as he slumped back, a some what defensive position, sticking a piece of gum in his mouth.

The boy's maroon eyes scanned his teammates once again, both on the field and the bench, when he saw @Aodhan Shaw. Man, this kid really was just everywhere, it was like that one immortal snail would you rather question. He was in the midst of talking to well... Everyone, the Gryffindor had a mouth on him, one that didn't know when or how to stop. It reminded him of his little brother Sun, having the lack of social cues and awareness. It was something he had learned with his time to get to know the older student.

So he had two options, sit and marinate in his own attitude or to talk to Aodhan. Neither preferable, but bothering Aodhan might at least have some amusement rather than fiddling with his thumbs. The only problem was, he didn't want to love his feet, feeling lazy and low-energy. He sat just sitting for a moment, maybe he should throw something to get his attention ? Only problem is he didn't have alot on his person, really just his wand. What a dilemma.

Epiphany, Fire stopped his chewing, that was it. The answer. The boy spit the gum out into the palm of his hand, giving it a quick roll before throwing it at the boy with as much accuracy as he could...
