Allo, not sure if this is even where I come to ask what's going on. I got an Owl from Solomon Lear about the end of the school year etc... I'm in need of registering with the Index, plus I wanted to be a special race or maybe some ability (not sure yet what I am going to choose on that). I need to do the Encyclopedia, plus something about a trunk and Stats etc... When I was on the Index Registration page, it was confusing and a bit overwhelming. At the bottom it states:

If you find all of this overwhelming, we offer a mentorship program for new (or returning new) members. This is a great way to get integrated into the community if you are feeling overwhelmed or just need a bit of help getting started. You can learn more about the Mentorship Program by following this link.

Of course it had given a link. Overwhelming because I have a deadline. That owl came to me on 27 Jun 2026, 19:05, saying I have until the first of July. I logged in the next day to find that Owl. I only just registered 7 days prior to this. Upon receiving this Owl I immediately went to that link to be register and get it all done, but become overwhelmed with it all, which led me to follow the link to the Mentor program. I immediately posted in there, in hopes someone would reply before the first.
My post was placed on 28 Jun 2026, 14:34. And I waited. Another posted after me, so all before me and the one after me are saying: Accepted. - Sage, yet my post was completely skipped over.
So, I guess my question is: What do I do now? Because that is all so confusing, and tomorrow is the first. I've tried searching around for the answers, too but couldn't find enough.

Your application for mentorship has been accepted, but mentors are busy, so there may be a short wait for one to respond. Feel free to bug me with any questions as you wait for your mentor.

As far as index, since tomorrow is the start of the new year, I don’t think staff will be able to get to your application in time to be yeared up. (Staff feel free to correct me). That would mean you can start your character as an incoming first year which I would recommend so you can have more time building lore.

Hiya Rikkali,

It does take some time for someone from the mentorship program to owl you, as there are many users completing the program.

With that being said, welcome to H.io! For your character to graduate to the next year, we will need you to complete the index application. The index application takes each individual part from the sections you wrote to pass validations, and expands upon them (such as 220+ words for your backstory). If you wish to have a special ability or race, you can apply for them at the same time as your index application (500+ words).

I do want to add- if you are continuously skipped over, please reach out to a Mentor Team Lead (Sage Willows and Orion Lécuyer). They handle the oversight of the team, approving and denying mentors and mentees, and any further actions or decisions within the mentor team.

Usually if it says "Accepted - name", it's usually one of the two mentor leads and possibly also Solomon Lear as he helps out sometimes, it means that they have been approved for Mentors to claim. Mentors will, once they have a free slot, swoop in and claim you. I cannot guarantee speed or anything, because I know people are busy and some take their time.

When mentors claim you, they'll quote your application and say something like 'hey, I'm [name], and I will be your mentor! Expect an owl!'

Hello, I am one of the mentor co-leads. I did see your post, it does take me a few days to review sign-ups because I am extremely busy outside of HiO and it can take up to 2 weeks at maximum. You just signed up two days ago so I have not had much time to go in and approve mentees. I would like to clarify: your post was not skipped, I'm so sorry that was how you felt. You were the most recent sign-up, so those posts you were seeing were just mentors claiming those who signed up before you. That being said, I am taking a look at your sign-up but please keep in mind for the future that staff members do have engagements outside of the site and we may take a few days to review things.

As far as I know, there is no prerequisite barring Seers from taking Sixth Sense! You should be able to take that ability in your second year if you like.
