QUIDDITCH - SAPPHIRE STORM vs ULTRAVIOLET - SPRING 2026
Date: 18th April, 2026
Time: 11:00 AM
Weather: Cool (around 8–11°C), cloudy and sightly windy.
Moderator: @Mahdi Hassan
It was a gift of a morning for Quidditch.

Late April in the Highlands usually means rain across the pitch. But not today. The sky above the pitch is a restless patchwork of grey, with clouds streaming past as if they have somewhere else to be. For once, it looks like the weather might actually agree to stay out of the match.

It’s about as close to ideal as possible. The wind is there, nothing to be done about that. But it is a steady, predictable crosswind. Ideal for Quaffle plays. And boy was he looking forward to the plays.

While this was an unofficial match, so the rules were much more relaxed than what one might expect from formal games, the lineup from both sides had representatives from school teams.

"Guys." Mahdi slowly enunciated, looking at players from both sides. "I want a clean, fair game. We're all here to have a good time; and I'd really love it if no one ended up in the hospital wing from this, okay?"

It was unlikely to gain him much. Hufflepuff under Anezaki had been brutal and bloodthirsty, and the caretaker fully expected those tactics to be replicated on the field. But then the other side was basically half the Mahoutokoro school Quidditch team.
A note to all players: As this is an unofficial match, the word count minimum is 200 words. The next deadline to post and submit strategy is 144 hours from the time this is posted. You must include in your first post (and preferably all posts) any active abilities, your character's stats (without broom, you can also include the stats with broom but they must be clearly separated), and your character's chosen broom and its effects.

Damien didn’t know how he managed to get himself in another unofficial Qudditch match yet here he was leading another team, he honestly was starting to think Qudditch couldn’t get enough of him and that’s why he was in so many matches. He let out a peaceful sigh as he noticed he was the only one currently at the pitch. That was a good sign for him as it meant he was early and he could take a short breather before the match started.

He wasn’t nervous like he was his first ever match he played but he still enjoyed taking breathers before matches to get himself in the right head space. He went ahead and took off getting into the air as he waited for the rest of his team to get here, he honestly still didn’t know how he made it here before everyone else but none the less he didn't have to rush himself so this gave him time to come up with something motivational to say to his team. That was one thing he truly sucked at, he didn’t know how to say something motivational or wise like Aly would for the Ravenclaw team.

Damien truly admired Aly as she was good at what she did so he knew he wanted to do good and attempt to make her proud with this match.

Draven’s new broom was held in an unsteady, sweaty grip. It felt a bit blasphemous to be touching something that- nice. It was elegance objectified, slick and fast, and a complete impulse buy.

Merlin only knew why he’d agreed to join quidditch. Familiar faces, perhaps? An aching need for connection after duelling had come to an unfortunate end? Regardless, he was unprepared. He hadn’t flown in ages. A couple of quick tours around the grounds were not nearly enough to wake up old muscles.

“UP,” he commanded, pushing down the familiar nervousness. It rose eagerly, perhaps a little too fast- Brooms hadn’t refused to listen since he was a wee kid, bobbing unsteadily around the cliffs near Mirador Manor. But in the same way muggles found themselves shaky climbing on a bike, Draven struggled with the broom- it was fully a mental block, he could recognize that much.

Throwing a knee over the polished handle made something in his chest give a weird flutter. The ground, a simple constant he’d taken for granted up till that point, gave way under his feet.

And up, up he went. Climbing steadily, meter by meter. The wind howled, nipping at his ears and biting across his cheeks.

Around him, teammates were doing the same. Blurry spots of black, gray, and the occasional purple and blue popped up against the quidditch field.

Draven swallowed down a mouthful of air, beginning to scan the field absentmindedly. At least he was the seeker. Any physical feats of strength were reserved for the students who didn’t pass out from a short walk.

No. All he had to do was watch. And considering his life thus far at Hogwarts, he had no doubts the job was right in his wheelhouse.

In the role of Chaser when you attempt to catch a passed Quaffle (such as when the Keeper has possession of the Quaffle and passes it to a teammate) you have advantage (meaning that it is rolled twice and you keep the better option) on attempts to catch if the opponent team attempts to intercept.
In the role of Keeper when you attempt to block your goal, if your opponent somehow has advantage on attempting to score a goal, that is negated (they only have their normal single roll against you).
In the role of Seeker when you have found the snitch, if someone attempts to use Alley Oop to help you find the snitch, you will not have disadvantage. However, with this broom you do not gain the +1 chance to grab the snitch for rounds that the Alley Oop is used. To clarify, each round someone attempts to grab a snitch they get a +1 to the attempt and this stacks. There is no bonus (or stack from this round's attempt to grab) to grabbing the snitch.
In the role of Beater, if you hit an opponent with a bludger the bludger will then ricochet off that user and target a second opponent of choice at disadvantage (must be declared, if not declared the target will be random and can be an ally but not yourself). Ricochet damage is 75% of the original hit.
Max was all ready to go. He had signed up as soon as he had heard of the unofficial game being held. It seemed there were a lot more upper years participating this time. In the other games he had partaken in, there had mostly been first years. It made him all the more proud that he was a part of the first-string lineup. If others had faith in him, he would not disappoint.

He arrived at the stadium with his trusted Nimbus slung over the shoulder in a way he himself was convinced looked cool. It looked far from it, but as long as Max got to continue with his fantasy, everything was alright. He halted at the very edge and narrowed his eyes, studying the players already there. To see the know-it-all Ravenclaw already on his broom soured his mood a bit. Of course the self-important idiot was playing this game too. But the opportunity to eventually knock him out soon turned his frown upside down once again.

Swinging a leg over his broom he kicked off. The wind was cold enough to give an ugly cold if one wasn’t properly dressed. Thankfully Max was never one to skimp over keeping warm. He circled the field before gathering with the rest. The caretaker, referee for the day, spoke of a clean and fair game. He had to hold himself back from snorting. Never, not even once, had he ever heard of a quidditch game completely void of cheating. Fouls made the sport better in his opinion. Upon the speech finishing, he turned his broom, getting ready for the whistle to be blown and the game to begin.

The day no one had anticipated, least of all Camille, had arrived. With rather short notice, he had been summoned to the Quidditch pitch to join an unofficial Quidditch match, his first ever involvement in anything of the sorts. He’d only agreed because Romélie had decided to spend her visit in Scotland pestering him about it. It was an awful idea, in retrospect. The boy usually took no part in any school official sports. In fact, no sports in general unless it was ballet or something that contributed to the advancement of his future career. He’d made an exception for figure skating, because of the similarities when it came to artistry and elegance, and the prestige granted to those who had mastered it. The rest, particularly those involving a broomstick, had little appeal to him; Quidditch and ballet were worlds apart.

At this point, Camille had barely mastered the basics of flying, all thanks to Harlan Montgomery, who had practically forced the skill into him at wand-point. Seeing that it seemed like he had no other choice, he was now grateful for the private lesson, in hindsight, as painful and humiliating as it had been back then. Hopefully that meant he wouldn’t make a complete fool out of himself. Naturally, Camille had purchased his own broom for the occasion. The splintered school brooms were a form of torture he had no intention of enduring again, and they were largely responsible for his refusal to participate in flying classes since the beginning of the year. This brand-new Firebolt would surely do the job. With his family’s disposable income, the cost was barely worth acknowledging, but he would be lying if he claimed it did not feel satisfying to arrive on the pitch with the most expensive broom available. It only made sense that Camille would own the best and most prestigious equipment possible. Money, after all, had never been an obstacle in his life.

How much of use it would be was a different matter. When he arrived at the pitch, walking with a casualness almost absurd given the famous broom model in his hand, Camille was promptly placed on the bench beneath the likes of Damien Dragonclaw, who had earned a position on the first string. A faint expression of disdain crossed his features, though he quickly redirected his thoughts toward the positives. Well, good. Being spared from playing was hardly a tragedy—he’d be bored at worst. Especially considering Romélie was not even on his team, which defeated the entire purpose of his presence there in the first place. At least he wasn’t alone. Elena was also on the bench, and he quickly found an appropriate seat next to her.

“Elena, chérie,” he greeted, leaning down to press two kisses against each cheek in the familiar manner of a practiced social courtesy, his hand resting lightly on her center back. "How wonderful to see you."

His usual foil of pleasantries slipped away the moment he settled back, lowering his voice. “I can’t believe I let myself be coerced into this.” Glancing past the locks of blonde hair, his gaze sought the fanged menace on the opposite team, glaring pointed daggers.

Rome's heart pounded against her chest as she made her way out of the changing rooms and onto the edge of the Quidditch pitch. She was nervous—an unusual feeling for her, one that she tried to dull with the metallic taste of a blood-flavoured lollipop resting against her tongue, while her cat-eye sunglasses perched on the bridge of her nose concealed the jitters behind her eyes. She had complete faith in her talent and abilities. Her teammates however…they were all unfamiliar faces, and whether they were brilliant or hopeless at the game was a complete mystery. Meaning, if push came to shove, she'd have to pull twice the weight if they did turn out to suck. Good thing they had her on the team, truly.

Still, she remained confident in her step the closer she approached the bench. The brunette sighed the moment her eyes landed on it. She was a goddamn Quidditch prodigy, for Merlin's sake! And yet, here she was, her time and talent being wasted by warming the bench for the opening round. Nevertheless, hiding her displeasure, she gave her fellow bench warmers a dazzling smile, lollipop still hanging out of her mouth.

"Salut," she greeted them casually, before squeezing herself in between two of them.

Her eyes darted across the pitch, settling her gaze on the opposing team's bench warmers. Faces were—yet again—unfamiliar. A random. Another random. And another NPC... no, wait.

She squinted her eyes, leaning in slightly as if that might help.

Camille??

She smirked, almost doubling over with laughter as flashes of memory rushed back—her annoying the little gremlin to join the Quidditch game. She couldn't believe he went through with it. Then another thought: of course he would—he looked up to her at the end of the day!

As if on cue, Camille's face snapped toward her, like the French fry just sniffed out her thoughts. He glared at her from across the pitch, and with that, her smirk only widened. Unbothered, she lifted her hand, pressed a kiss to her palm, and flicked it his way. For her, the game just got more interesting.

Scanning the rest of the benched team, her eyes landed on another familiar face. It was him—that obnoxiously loud and hyperactive kid who was on her hockey team back in February for the International Magical Olympic Games. Sucks to be him. He was definitely on the losing side this time around.

Catching his attention, she offered the guy a cheeky grin, pointed at him, then dragged her thumb across her neck in a slow, exaggerated gesture.

This was indeed going to be a very interesting game.

Clean fair game his arse. The caretaker-slash-referee's pre-match address had gone well, in the sense that the pink-haired badger eye-rolled hard enough to see the back of his own skull.

No quidditch team had ever played a clean game, professionally or otherwise, and not toughening these teenagers up now was just setting them loose unprepared onto a professional pitch that would eat them alive. Also that address was lip service and everyone on this pitch knew it — if the man actually wanted clean, he could have made the foul penalties worse, because a foul with no send-off was basically a green light.

"Do we think he means clean as in legal, or clean as in no visible blood?" having hauled a whole cart of snacks over and settled himself into his seat with a bag of crisps he was already crunching loudly, Mamori directed this at the bench in general and no one in particular. He had a thought and it deserved an audience.

Not that he had any strategic input to offer this match anyway — @Damien Dragonclaw's birthday voucher covered 10 Galleons of labour, and in Mamori's interpretation, it meant the physical act of getting on a broom and not whatever thinking typically preceded it. Until it was his turn, his entire job was the snack cart and occasionally trash-talking whichever opposing player looked like they were enjoying themselves too much.

And why were there so many Japanese players again, for Merlin's sake, apparently Mahoutokoro had a policy of exporting their entire student body to Britain at every available opportunity. His last unofficial had already been crawling with them, and at this rate he was collecting the whole Mahoutokoro lineup like chocolate frog cards.

Aodhan's leg bounced up and down incessantly as he sat on the bench, moving in sync with his hands patting his knees and his head tilting back and forth, back and forth, back and forth—

He might have been a little restless. Just a little. There wasn't any particular reason either; it was just... present. Existing matter-of-factly, like the sky being blue or grass being green. Aodhan felt restless, and knowing he'd be stuck on the bench watching a match instead of playing from the start did him no favors.

Fortunately, he was able to spot a familiar face also settling in, characterized by bright pink hair and heart-shaped glasses. Immediately, he pointed at the other boy. "You! Uh...." He snapped his fingers, trying to recall a name on the tip of his tongue. It was right there. Did it start with an 'N'? No. 'M'? Memo... Mamo... "Mamori!" Aodhan exclaimed, feeling pretty certain of the answer he came to. "Dude, how come you're in every sports match ever? You're like that one Ravenclaw girl. The one with the last name Gemma, or whatever. Is it a condition you guys have?" There was no real point to his chatter, not like there ever really was, but still. He was stuck trying to break up the dreadful feeling of monotony lingering overhead.

"Oh, and he definitely meant no blood. Why else mention the hospital wing?" Besides, Aodhan couldn't imagine what a "clean" Quidditch match could look like. Hell, even the most straight-laced faces on the pitch ended up committing some kind of foul.

His eyes then drifted to the snack cart, and before he knew it, he was getting up to snatch one for himself. There was no asking for permission, no inquiry as to who the cart was for. Just the sounds of crinkling as he fiddled with the packaging, excitedly fishing out a marshmallow biscuit before popping it into his mouth. He hummed in delight.

As he munched, Aodhan's gaze passed over to the other side of the pitch, noticing yet another soul he was vaguely familiar with. Memories of ice and skates flooded in as he noticed the girl signing to him, bearing her teeth and all. Oh! She was trying to be scary. That wouldn't work, but he could definitely play around too.

He contemplated mooning her like he saw in cartoons, but quickly decided that would 1) get him in way too much trouble and 2) get him kicked out of the match. So, he settled for making absolutely ugly expressions—he stuck out his tongue, squinted his eyes, and flared his nostrils the best he could. A masterpiece of repulsiveness.

She doesn't really know why she is here, to be frank. An unofficial Quidditch match on a Saturday morning? She is not even on the Mahoutokoro official school team. How did she even manage to end up in this place? She did play a bit of Quidditch, mostly by herself in the garden behind her house. And mostly she was just chasing some bugs that were flying around and pretending they were the golden snitch, but it is still counts, because her grandma always says she was gifted at it. She scoffs at the thought. So, of course, when she was just telling her grandma about joining an unofficial game of Quidditch, she got overly excited and sent her a super expensive broom that she doesn't even know they have. Apparently, gramps used to play quidditch almost religiously?

Yeah, right.

If they thought this game would turn her into a Quidditch fanatic, they are very, very wrong. But here she is. Holding her very shiny broom. It does look second-hand, but a silver arrow still must cost a fortune. Now she thinks about it, this broom certainly goes very nicely on top of her beautifully curated trinket drawer after this game, if it still came out in one piece, that is.

She steps onto the field, and a sudden cold spring air hits her face. With every steps she regrets her decision to get involved in this sport.

She does see some familiar faces, mostly her classmates from Mahoutokoro who is happen to be the same year as her. But a lot of them are younger students too.

Mio sighed and climbed onto her broom and floated depressingly into the sky.

I have a bad feeling about this.

It was quite a beautiful day to be outside and competitive. Thankfully, she didn't have to immediately jump into action. It was a small blessing to be able to sit down and watch the beginnings of this insane Quidditch match. Robin hadn't been too interested in playing Quidditch for the school team. The entire school showed up, and the pressure she would feel to perform would be overwhelming. She had confidence in her abilities, but she would also be going up against players with the best brooms on the market. Something she couldn't ever possibly compete with. She was grateful for her Comet 180, something Maisie and her had slaved away to make some money for. Now it was time to put that broom to good use…. eventually. A small part of Robin didn't mind if she never got a chance on the field. She was just grateful to be a part of a team so large and feel included. But if she did get a chance to go into the air… She vibrated in her seat, eyes moving across the pitch faster than she could make sense of what she was seeing.

Simultaneously bouncing both knees, Robin watched her teammates and rivals move through the sky on their brooms. She couldn't help but think of her friends, Adeline and Maisie, and wish they were here beside her. She always had a little more courage when they were around, her whims leading her into positions that gave her blood a rush of joy. It didn't matter that Robin was alone, though. That's how she worked best for the majority of her life. Still… the thought of Adeline's piercing blue eyes in the crowd would give her a small reason to perform. The girl always believed in Robin more than she believed in herself, giving her the strength to move forward with her head held high. Robin glanced around at the stands once more, searching for a familiar face just in case. When the search yielded no results, Robin grounded herself. That was okay. She'd just imagine her friend's voice in the back of her mind, egging her on. It was enough to make Robin grin to herself.
