Anaconda vs. Caiman

| ... | It was wild, really, to be that close to graduation. It was even wilder to find herself in an exotic land at such a time, the environmental conditions of a rainforest being completely foreign to her. Despite finding herself in quite an amazed state, Lindsey embraced this opportunity - she had at least caught up with the final trip to other magical schools, having missed the previous ones. Like a round and nice period. She appreciated it. Curiously examining the jungle around, she followed the troop into the depths of it. Lindsey was busy observing the sky when someone bumped into her, completely lost in her own thoughts of how they should strategise for the game later on. "Oh -" She gasped, reflexively stepping back. The first thing greeting her eyes was a ball of purple colour, then strawberry blonde locks - wait, that actually felt way too familiar. The individual, though, seemed to have figured out the situation more quickly than she did. And of course, it was no other than the one and only @Haven Bohannon. "Haven!!!" She exclaimed joyously and willingly let the girl pull her into a hug. "Gosh, you are here - and with Marcus! Awwwww." Oh, she just loved that little creature. "We are doing that Capture the Flag game! Wait - are we on the same team?" Seeing her duelling partner was exciting, but being against each other was pure evil. It took her some time before she realised that they actually showed up in the same zone. "Looks like it." She happily announced. "I wish Lea's here." They would make a fabulous team together like they were on the duelling stage for sure. Giggling, Lindsey watched Haven settle Marcus on a nice rock, and pulled a thumbs up when Haven proposed him to be the team mascot. "Oooooooh he must!!" He was already at literally all of their duelling matches and boosting them; there was no way he shouldn't be cheering for this one. "Marcus the Mascot, our cheerleader." With a wide smile, Lindsey greeted her team. Most of them were unfamiliar faces looking younger than Haven and her, except for her Headliner buddy @Archer Duncan. "Duncan. Good to see you here!" She would greet the Slytherin with a nod and a smile. Clapping her hands a few times after a nice-looking boy [@Tone Bakugo]'s pep talk, she added a cheerful "Let's win this!" - as said, she wanted a perfect period for her school days.

| xxxx | Kanae had not signed up because she wanted to win. That was what she told herself, anyway. But that was barely an excuse to join a fun little game. How charming. Well now maybe not now that she's seen the arena, zones, and figured out the rules. The arena was huge and... interesting to say the least, the entire game was a well! Her own teammates and opponents were all unique people from different schools and different ages. Curious how this'll play out. A part of her shuddered when she found out one of her seniors was on the other team, (@Tone Bakugo). They've seen eachother in events around Mahoutokoro and even chatted a bit in the library that one time. Not that they were close enough for her to feel that bad. She did smile, bow, and wave though as usual greeting. Another familiar face was @Manu Macedo. Kanae'd recalled their presence when they were together during their stay at Teñusa. She returned the nod and smile but also added a wave, they were teammates now. At least there was one person she knew in the group. To her other comrades, she bowed slightly in greeting (out of habit) before speaking up "I'm Suzuki Kanae, lovely meeting you all!". Brazil. It was nice to be back, a small part deep within her having longed for the rainforest despite the way she had mocked her mother’s affinity for its vegetation. Brazil was a place Ebony had once called home, having lived with her mother in the country for more than a year. The flora and fauna was thus familiar in a sense, in a blurred, reminiscent way. Nostalgic.
The reason for her return to the tropical country however — and the reason for her visit to the South American school — was far from nostalgic. She was to engage in a game of Capture the Flag, one that she herself had not had much experience with. Especially not in the sinister rainforest, where all sorts of beasts dwelled. Though she was no magizoologist, she was quite certain that many of the creatures shrouded in shadow were lethal (unpleasantly acromantulaic? pretty sure that’s not a word memories from the recent disastrous detention resurfaced).
As the brunette surveyed her teammates and opponents — the Anacondas and the Caimans respectively — she realised that she recognised quite a few familiar faces, having encountered many before. Perhaps she knew more people than she gave herself credit for, though she could not say for sure whether she had imparted a positive impression upon them. Impression was irrelevant, anyways. There was Ronnie, a rather flirtatious boy whom Ebony had encountered multiple times now; she had yet to decipher the golden retriever-esque Castelobruxo boy’s intentions, but she was rather certain they could not be anything altruistic. Manipulative, most likely. Then there was Ronnie’s schoolmate, a curly-haired seventh-year whom the brunette had played against once before in a rather catastrophic ice hockey game in Koldovstoretz, who she again faced on the opposing side. Ari was opposing her too, a fellow fifth year who had also taken part in the ice hockey game. On her team stood Guinevere and Lily as well. She had met both of them in the Hogwarts Library in her second year, though her interaction with the former had been rather unpleasant. She and the fifth year Slytherin would have to put old grudges aside, however, for they were to work together now — to win — and perhaps reconcile the nastiness that had surfaced all those years ago.
And who could forget about the handsome Castelobruxo headmaster? me apparently The man had graced the doorstep of her family’s home eight years ago, and he made himself present again now as their guide through the rainforest. The Ravenclaw never would have thought that she would be glad to see Santiago Peralta again, for she rarely held reminiscent thoughts for individuals that had come and gone over the years. It did not serve her well to dwell on such things, for rarely did she trust someone to the extent that she would long for their accompaniment. She did enjoy solitude, after all. The now headmaster, however, was one of few adults who had managed to entertain her very much stubborn and stoic younger self, a source of joy during her time in Brazil. Though he boasted a demeanour of professionalism — fitting, as a headmaster — the man clearly held talent for amusement, as evidenced by the slightly obscure smirks flitting across his features here and there. Still as entertaining as ever.

Kanthil did it again. She wasn't satisfied. The last time she went abroad, she caught a cold and couldn't attend the Ball at Hogwarts. She has her own mission to look for an answer, the thing that she didn't have.
So here she was, standing in the middle of the lush forest of Brazil. She left the comfort of Tenūsa with a goal in mind. Though what she was looking for should be near Hogwarts, Kanthil had her hypothesis that it wasn't only Hogwarts. What she wanted to know might be more than that Scottish magical school environment. The key might be all over the world and could do the same thing anywhere and anytime.
Kanthil looked around. She didn't know anyone in her team or anyone on the other team. Everyone was very unfamiliar to her. But this wasn't a problem at all. Smiling, she decided that this time she would broaden her connection first, which wasn't hard for her. Broader connections mean more information.
She was thinking which person she should go talk to first. Her gaze fell on a girl whose age might be the same as hers. Kanthil nodded as she introduced herself as Suzuki. She also looked at her team, who introduced themselves one by one. She was the last person to open her mouth in the group.
"I'm Kanthil from Tenūsa, nice to meet you all," she said.

Anaconda vs. Caiman
This event is part of the Castelobruxo International Capture the Flag event
26TH OF JUNE, 2026 IN THE JUNGLE ARENA
ROUND ONE
Once the team were settled in their bases, Naiane quietly scanned the zones from the observation tower. Her eyes lit up when she saw Castelobruxo’s Manu charging ahead, leading the Caimans as they all traversed the dense forest. It looked as though she knew where to step to avoid rousing any of the wildlife or crumpling any overgrown flora; the mark of a seasoned student. Manu was clearly set on making good on that promise to beat her opponents and Phylicia seemed just as eager to pummel them. This could likely be the making of a deadly duo.
Those who followed closely behind Manu often had to duck suddenly under stray branches. Most did so with ease, but any delayed reaction would result in one promptly smacking their forehead against the obstructing wood.
Phylicia would still benefit from watching her feet once in a while, for one could easily trip over a low branch or have their shoes entangled in the dense flora. It was always better to be safe than sorry in these parts.
Despite her initial nerves, Logan did well to keep up. Perhaps her fear of getting lost kept her alert. She wasn’t wrong about the bugs though, they often came flying out of nowhere, but most were easy to dismiss with a few waves.
Kanae seemed slightly rattled to be facing off against her senior, but perhaps her competitive spirit (that she allegedly did not possess) would push her to achieve greatness during the game. Following the only familiar face was a clever choice that paid off this time.
It was unsettling to realise how sound travelled here; a twig snapping behind them sounded a lot further than it actually was. The abundance of vibrant flora was hard to miss. Some of them even swayed from side to side, as though they were trying to wave the passersby over. They also came in various colours, from lush greens to vivid pinks. If anyone walked closer, they could admire their unique markings; some had irregular spots and others stripes. However, it would be best to avoid getting distracted. After all, the game had only just begun.
Those left behind were far less fortunate. In a matter of seconds, the trench was swarmed by frantic Capuchin Monkeys running at them. Although they were far from the most malicious creatures lurking within the area, they were certainly menaces. One grasped Kaitlyn’s wand, beginning a tug of war that she quickly lost. Soon, the monkey was running off while waving her wand as though it could cast spells. Being terrorised by random creatures was likely familiar to the seasoned broom racer, so it was time to see some of that quick thinking! Mahlioz on the other hand, had a monkey snatch her wand before it began climbing one of the trees along the base boundary. Fortunately, it abandoned the wand once it became stuck in the foliage of an overhead branch. They had little choice but to scale the tree, more innovative solutions were plausible. Kanthil stubbornly held onto her wand for dear life, protecting it from grabbing hands. Whatever she did soon paid off, for the monkey soon left with a huff. After fending off her attacker, she passed a remark that seemingly amused Mahlioz despite their current predicament. Then there was Ari, who unfortunately fell behind and stood around idly until his wand was promptly yanked.
While that chaos unfolded, most of the anacondas were brave enough to venture outside of their base. The sound of roaring falls growing louder warned them about what was ahead long before they neared it. Soon, they found themselves at the edge of a sudden drop. There was no way around it; they would certainly need to jump or be pushed in to press on further. Yet once in the river, they could wade through the water to reach the river bank, though the fog made it somewhat difficult to see. Or perhaps they could enjoy a quick swim since they were already there.
Tone would find that there were no deadly monsters or vines here, at least for now. One could never get too comfortable in these parts of the jungle. Perhaps they were warded off by the chilling presence of Ebony. Whilst her beauty was undeniable, something about her seemed rather… unsettling. Even glancing at her from a distance made Naiane shudder slightly. Fortunately, she was not the one facing off against her!
Or perhaps it was the contagious enthusiasm of Haven. Nature often responded in kind to the energy that people brought. Who wouldn’t be that happy with a little bundle of cuteness right by their side? Speaking of the pygmy puff mascot, Marcus would have the finest view of the action no matter where he sat. If he were to join the rest of the adventure, he would be shielded from any harm. The jungle worked in mysterious ways like that.
Lindsey exuded a radiance that complemented Haven’s; something would be valuable during any trials awaiting them. One would be foolish to let the warm exterior of this social butterfly fool them, for she seemed rather keen to claim the win for her team.
Poor Guinevere seemingly dreaded her decision long before the drop, but alas it was too late to back out now. Her only way out was to win or collapse trying. There was always the option of playing dead, but to be dragged off by something that emerged from the depths of the jungle was a worse fate than being knocked out. Only time would tell if her newfound resolve would pay off.
Then there was Archer, a quiet boy who appeared scrawnier than most. That was not to say he was useless, oftentimes those who lacked brawn often made up for it by being awfully clever. Perhaps the boy would be essential to their strategy – if he survived the horrors the jungle could unleash.
Last, but certainly not least was Lily who eagerly pressed forward when the game commenced. It was always useful to have someone who seemed no-nonsense. Although jeans were not ideal for the humid conditions, she seemed to have no trouble moving around.
There was only one soul lingering back at the Anaconda base – Verona. He seemed far too flustered by Manu’s remark to do anything and was frozen in place. That is, until barreling rain poured from the sky. While he was sturdy enough to withstand the heavy downpour, he somehow continued doing… well, nothing.
It was safe to say that the older students were certainly built different. While a few were unlucky enough to be terrorised by Capuchin monkeys, it had been smooth sailing for the rest. Well, if the jungle failed to take anyone out, one of their opponents would gladly step up to the challenge.

HOW TO PLAY
The game ends when either team successfully retrieved the other teams flag to their base. Team Anaconda will be starting the game in Zone 1 and Team Caiman will be in Zone 4 at the opposite end of the arena. There will be at most 10 rounds, each requiring a post of 200+ words. Please make sure you include your character's stats in your post.
During the first round only, each team must state which zone their flag is hidden in to the thread moderator. You may chose to hide the flag in any of the 4 zones. The flag remains in that zone unless successfully discovered or moved through gameplay mechanics. Do not reveal in game where the flag is located.
Each round, everyone in the team must make at least one action from the Capture the Flag actions list, unless they are unable to act due to a status effect or restriction. These actions are zone dependent. The team scores points by making successful flag actions or interceptive actions towards a flag carrier. Please note that players may only move between adjacent zones and cannot skip zones while travelling.
At the conclusion of each round, the zone state map will be updated to reflect all player locations. Players may only target characters who are in the same zone as them at the end of the previous round. If a target moves out of the zone during the following movement phase, the action automatically fails, with the exception of Flag Intercept and non-magical support actions that include a chase mechanic. When performing these actions, the player automatically follows the target into the destination zone as part of the interaction.
If the action fails while chasing, the pursuing player is left behind in the original zone while the target successfully gains distance.
Rules regarding roll resolution, action priority, and other game mechanics can be found HERE.
At least one member of the team must owl the entire teams' action list to @Cecilia Merrick before the posting deadline.

One day is of the prey, another of the predator.

In the span of a few moments, Manu learned several names: Phyllis for the redheaded girl, Kanae for her former roommate at Tenūsa, Kanthil for the long-haired brunette, Mahlioz for the one from Hogwarts, and more. She nodded to each of them in turn. The Castelobruxo student had never been the friendliest particularly, but she wasn't mean either, at least not until somebody deserved it. "Nice to meet you," she said, over and over, to each one, until they felt less like words in her mouth and more like mush.
Luckily, the start of the match came quickly enough to put her out of the introductions, and Manu immediately assumed a fast pace through the jungle in front of her. She had spent her last seven years picking through this thick underbrush and matted, tangled tree branches, and she knew each rock, each leaf, each trunk as well as she knew the back of her own hand. "Follow me," she called quietly over her shoulder, picking a path through the rainforest quickly and decisively. "I know where is good."
Of course, there would be dangers in the jungle as there usually were, but especially more so now that her new Headmaster, @Santiago Peralta, had probably set out some extra things. He was a sadistic man when it came to sports, and though he hadn't been her director for long, Manu liked him already. What exactly he'd put out here, though, remained to be seen...

Phyllis smiled warmly at each new teammate's introduction, and repeated her own as necessary. If she was being honest, the names were sliding in one ear, maybe doing a loop-de-loop, and falling right out the other. It wasn't on purpose, and she was throwing pretty much all her mental energy at the name-face matching task before the game started, but it was a lot of names at once. At least their faces were sticking.
She did know Manu, curly-haired and ready to go, who definitely knew what she was doing way more than the rest of them. The jungle was a tripping hazard for Phyllis, and she considered herself pretty steady on her feet. She had to keep looking down, then up, then down again, but Manu, resident Castelobruxo student, quickly took the lead in her own quiet, action-focused way. Phyllis stayed on her heels as well as she could; keeping up was tricky but not impossible, especially if she copied the way Manu moved. Two more teammates followed, the rest hanging back: Logan, who looked about her age and a bit nervous, and a younger girl. She might not know either of them, but they had a good energy to them (calming presence) so she was glad to have them beside her as they plunged into an even thicker part of the jungle. They hadn't run into anyone or anything... yet. But that was the fun part, wasn't it?

"We're playing Capture the Flag?" Haven asked. "Hm, I think I heard something about that going on. I don't think I signed up, but that sounds like fun! I'll join! I'm going to CRUSH the other team!" All too energetic, she took up one of her fighting-dueling stances that was really not all that intimidating. Marcus gave a scary face and a hiss of support from his rock, further emphasizing their formidableness (or lack thereof).
Haven generally did not know what was going on, but at least she made up for it in confidence and sheer determination.
"Okay, Marcus, be safe!" she wished her pygmy puff, before skipping over to join the rest of the team. "Ooh, we're going to have so much fuuuun, and we're gonna wiiiiin, and it'll be so cool," she nodded, reassuring her teammates. She recognized a couple of them, including @Verona Andréas, who had been her first crush way back when. Her eyes widened in embarrassment, even though there was a good chance the boy had never known about her former feelings- she couldn't recall seeing him since the Triathlon, anyhow. Plus, there was a different certain boy that made her heart flutter now- and had much more to offer than a just nice set of abs- Cyrus was much better looking (sorry, Ronnie). Haven was counting down the days until she saw her boyfriend again- it was hard to believe it was so soon... and graduation looming just before that. They should probably win this, so Haven had an achievement to tell her family about, not just not falling into the toilets that week.

| ... | One, two, three, and she was so ready to start this. Lindsey sprinted through the massive trees, gripping her wand tight - no, she did not want to lose it amidst the huge plants and interweaved roots. The majority of her teammates were moving forward, and it looked like they had the exact same thought. "Of course!" She echoed Haven's pep talk as they scrambled forward. Surely they could do this. Lindsey's mouth dropped into a small "o" when the scene in front of her changed. Density was cleared by the roaring sounds of the waterfall, and the riverbank where she had to carefully place her foot became slippery. She let out a huff and stepped on it, balancing herself so as not to fall into the water. That would be embarrassing, indeed - plus, her clothes would have gotten wet! - and Lindsey made sure that she kept that in mind, quieting to focus on the route. Would the enemy flag be in this zone...? Honestly, she had no idea. Chocolate brown gaze fixed on the scenery yonder, contemplating where this river would lead. Lindsey hummed to herself, deciding that she should serious up now. They'd be likely to encounter the opponent team soon, and now that the real battle had just started.
