Insults? What a mild way to put Ara's insistent allergy towards saying anything remotely nice about Hanako. Had he ever heard her call him by name? Man, probably not huh.
When the duel started he let out a mumble of protest again in Parseltongue when realising what he was hit with, in which only Mylo and Jack might've understood as "aw shit here we go again". God he hated this spell, the last time he was hit with it- he was faced in a summer duel that was totally unwinnable and wearing feather boas as a silent protest of the ridiculousness. His shoulders hunched and let out an agitated groan.
He hadn't even mustered the mood to celebrate his own practiced aim and Mahls great shot that he could frankly- not think or see very well. And coupled with the ventus? " I think I'm going to be sick…" he mumbles out in Parseltongue.
Frankly he didn't even have the mood to tease jack for just standing there looking pretty.

Not great. Not terrible.
Cassius was perhaps sugarcoating it a bit as he felt the full-body binding spell take effect. It was quite bad, although he was proud of himself for managing to disperse the limbo mist over two-thirds of the opposing team. For the next round at the very least, his teammates would have to do without him.
Cassius was not worried. His teammates were highly competent and it would not be long before he was back in the action.

• On a critical success with a "dark" spell, a second target (only if defined by the caster before this has been rolled) can be targeted, if no secondary target is declared then nothing happens.

Ravenclaw vs Slytherin: Match 1
Only one round in, and this was already turning out to be one of Mahlioz's most interesting duels. The spell Cassius cast was not one she had ever seen before, and after this time, was almost sure she did not want to ever see again (at least cast at her teammates). Hanako and Jack were very much looking worse for wear.
Not all was lost, however, because Hanako had gotten Cassius body binded, and Mahlioz themselves' spell had worked perfectly, hitting both Mylo and Edward (gods, learning that skill had been such a blessing). Speaking of which, the latter had barely moved the whole round, seeming slightly distracted - oof, Mahlioz knew how that felt. It was never a good feeling. He seemed to have his head back in the game now; hopefully not enough for the ravens to win, but only time would tell.

Despite having decided to spend the round concentrating on dodging, Jack somehow still managed to get hit. The Welsh seventh year Slytherin felt pretty useless just about then for having managed to accomplish approximately nothing except for getting hit by the opposing seventh year with a spell that made him sick to his stomach. Cassius' Limbo Mist hit both himself and Hanako thanks to spell spread, making it difficult for them to keep their balance on their feet and even making it difficult to think.
Jack grit his teeth as he tried to assess the situation nevertheless. He still felt he was pretty terrible with strategizing regarding dueling and understanding how it all worked even when his head wasn't reeling. But his teammates Mahlioz and Hanako seemed to know what they were doing given how their attacks had managed to hit their targets and give their team advantages of sorts. The pair didn't seem too bothered and Jack figured the first round was far too early to start fretting for either side, anyway.
Hanako's comment in Parseltongue caused the taller Slytherin to look over briefly, wondering if his dormmate had experienced the spell they'd been hit with before. If he was acting that way rather than being his usual cocky, flirtatious, and overall obnoxious self towards their opponents (or even towards him), the effects were probably something to be reckoned with. Still, Jack wished he could speak Parseltongue back to give Hanako words of encouragement. Since he couldn't, though, he spoke another word instead.
"Bangarang," he uttered under his breath, triggering the telepathic aspect of their shared binding mark.
<Just...hang on a bit. You did a great job with that Full Body-Bind Curse,> he said, feeling sorry he hadn't contributed anything for his own part. Still, to have mentioned that at all would have felt like he was being self-pitying, so he decided not to comment on it except to say, <I'll try to do better myself next time.>
Since Mahlioz couldn't hear his telepathic thoughts like Hanako could, Jack tried to give her a small, quick grateful smile. He knew he must have been feeling a bit off, but whatever he was feeling, he knew Hanako must have been dealing with ten times worse due to having been experiencing Ventus simultaneously with the Limbo Mist.

Day 1 - Morning slot
Another batch of spells and more chaos atop the piste.
While Cassius struggled to break free (unsuccessfully), the others shot spells to and fro. Edward worked up an expeliarmus that would hit Hanako with ease. Hanako in turn would get an obscuro off, blinding Edward. An even trade. Jack and Mahlioz would work on damaging a wounded bird, further clipping Mylo's wings with a confringo/ventus combo. Sadly for Mylo, his own cracker jinx would sparkle wildly atop the piste, acting only as a nice light show for the audience.
Deliberate debilitation delivered - damage done! The Snakes held the lead, but the bird were pecking back. Would it be enough?

Quite smart of Jack to use telepathy cause otherwise, Hanako knew he'd feel too sick to hear him. Between the discomfort of being pushed around by wind, and the placebo that blood was rushing to his head, he still managed to give his roomate a glance.
Sticking out this tongue at him.
Perhaps because he was too sick, or embarrassed to be seen this way, or flustered by the clarity of Jack's guilt and sincere encouragement - lightly hinted by the dust of pink on Hana's cheeks that he was gonna blame on the limbo mist.
…Unsurprisingly, Jack ended up keeping his word. And it pissed him off. The 3rd years aim sucked so bad that even he himself could saw the spell coming. Not only that the fact that all their spells managed to be casted, especially mahl was .. something. " …You kept your word" he admitted gently- a mixture of surprise during a moment of weakness as the winds started to disperse around him. Of course when recognized the tinge of fondness in his tone that left his tongue, he immediately laughed. Loudly. " Alright…. been a while since anyone did that to me.." he flexed his hand gently, his wand a few spaces away. " You two can handle yourself while your best player is defenseless right?" he teases, waving them off ungratefully without shame.

The good news was that Cassius was still down for a round, and that Jack and Hanako's spells had worked very very well. The bad news was that Mahlioz's spell had missed and that Hanako was now without a wand. Still, at the moment things were in their favour. Mahlioz sent an encouraging smile back at Jack, though slightly confused as to what on earth was going on between him and Hanako. But when the latter's characteristic teasing came back, Mahlioz laughed and gave him a thumbs up. "Good luck on finding your wand, dude." They could imagine Ara adding something like "because your eyesight must be basically nonexistant, old man" but they would honestly spontaneously combust of embarrassment if they themselves said it. Leave the teasing to the experts, they guessed.

Mylo had seen Confringo in action before, however each time they had found themselves safely on the side of the piste. Not the target of the spell, they had seen the damage it could do but hadn't experienced the effects themselves. Being hit with the equivalent of a grenade wasn't exactly pleasant they'd found out.
The force of the blast had been enough to knock Mylo's aim, making it frustratingly easy for his opponents to avoid their cracker jinx. At least they'd managed to cast the spell in the first place, it was an improvement from last match.
Luckily the pain hadn't been bad enough to impair their reflexes, Mylo noting Mahlioz's wandmovement and reacting before they could even form a coherent thought. Sometimes muscle memory was a godsend.
It still seemed like Cassius was out of the game for a little bit, their ally still unmoving on the ground, and Edward also wasn't looking too good. The 4th year not having managed to avoid Hanako's Obscuro, a piece of cloth fixing itself over his eyes.
Well. This wasn't going too great.

Still not great. Still not terrible.
The former Ravenclaw duelling captain was still petrified despite his best efforts to escape the bindings that kept him immobile. He could barely keep an eye on the duel's proceedings from his vantage point but he could at least hope everything was going well.
It was times like these that a person could really stop and reflect upon their life choices. Should he have studied a bit more for that exam? Maybe better not to have eaten a third blueberry scone? In a duel there was rarely time for such thoughts but Cassius had all the time in the world.

With confringo's fire and ventus' wind, Jack was quite surprised and pleased by how much damage they were able to inflict on Mylo even if the Windy Spell missed. He felt bad for the Ravenclaw when Mylo's cracker jinx mixed all three of the snakes, but as this was his last duel as a Hogwarts student, he wanted to make it count. Especially when his previous two had ended in failure. Edward had managed to disarm Hanako, but not before Hanako had managed to blind him and Cassius was still bound, so the Viridian Vipers still appeared to have the advantage. They just had to hold onto it as long as they could.
When Hanako managed to stick out his tongue at him, Jack looked taken aback. His peer must have been feeling extremely nauseous, but he still had the gall to stick his tongue out at him? And what for? Because of what he'd said? His compliment?
Oh, right. Hanako got uncomfortable with positive things like compliments. Well, that explained the hint of pink in his complexion. Jack smirked in response.
" …You kept your word" he heard Hanako say aloud. It was spoken with a rare hint of affection that Jack was so unused to from his dormmate that it took the redhead a second to understand what he meant.
"'My word'? About what, trying to do better this round?" he asked with a soft chuckle. "Well, of course. You know how much my word means to me. Besides, what else was I going to do? Try to do worse?"
Then Hanako went back to acting haughtily, causing Jack to sneer as he shook his head. " You two can handle yourself while your best player is defenseless right?"
"We'll do our best," the Welsh teen assured him, casting Mahlioz a grin and a wink. He was pretty sure they both knew Hanako well enough to know what a front he was putting up for the sake of their team and keeping them in good spirits.
