Ivy was technically not breaking curfew. But was it really that smart to be wandering outside when the night was so near? ...No. If sighted by a patrolling staff member, Ivy would definitely get a stern telling-off and possibly even a detention.
Mind you, she hadn’t just come out here randomly at night. She had been here all afternoon, and couldn’t be bothered to go up for dinner. And then the hours ticked by and she just sort of lost track of time. It wasn’t that big of a deal, the hike back up to the castle was a reasonably short one, and it wasn’t even that dark yet. It would be really stupid to walk so close to the edge if it was really dark, especially since the water so icy from the winter, so Ivy was planning on making her way back up to the castle in a few moments.
She had come down here to enjoy the beauty of the lake a few hours ago, cold as it was. Ivy couldn’t tolerate cold weather for too long, but it was so peaceful, and the sights were worth it. Besides, the worst that could happen was a cold for a few days. Ivy could deal with that. As long as she bundled up (which she did), she would be completely fine.
However, as she later discovered, completely fine was not what destiny had in store for her that night. Perhaps she would have been completely fine if she had left five minutes earlier. She would not have heard the snap of a branch cracking underneath someone’s foot as she had now. She turned around, eyes widening. What - who else would be put here at this point in time? “Who is it?”

Percival had no real clue what drove him to go out so close to curfew. Things had been pretty hectic recently. He honestly wished his only problems was the amount of homework he still had to complete tonight. Though he really did not want to complete it.
Especially now as he walked through the grass towards the Great Lake. His feet crunched on the slightly frost-covered ground. The air would pick up at random moments, and remind him of the winter weather.
Percival pulled his scarf tighter around his neck in hopes of keeping out the winter chill. He chided himself for deciding to go down near the large lake. The air was always colder closer to large bodies of water. He knew it would be in his best interest to make his trip short. Not only did he have a curfew to make, but he also wanted to still feel his toes by the end of the night.
As the lake came into view his eyes made out the figure of someone else. From where he was standing he could not recognize who was standing at the bank. A small though wormed it's way into his head. To sneak up and prank this student.
He thought for a second before deciding he would try and sneak up on her and push her into the water. Percival made up his mind that he could push her so that she would only fall into the lake a little bit. Just a small dip into the water. In reality, the lake was a whole lot deeper than he realized.
Percival steeled his nerves before he made his way closer. Though as he got closer he stepped onto a stick. The loud crack rang through the almost empty clearing. He gulped as the other whirled around to look behind her.
'I can still work with this.' he thought with a small nod.
"Um hey? Sorry did I scare you?" he asked trying to appear of no threat. Percival made his way closer to the girl.

sorry for the wait!
The tension built up in Ivy's shoulders relaxed as a boy emerged from the shadows, his tone holding a friendly note as he approached. She felt almost silly for being so clearly startled by his presence, but brushed it off as she squinted at him, trying to make out his features in the dark. Ivy didn't think she recognized him, but there was a chance that they shared a class together or something. The Gryffindor did not pay a lot of attention to her classmates. She was here to learn, after all, not to dilly-dally with people she didn't even like.
At the sound of the sudden noise, her hand had instinctively slipped inside of the pocket of her coat and grabbed at the handle of her walnut wand, something she only noticed now. (It was funny how quickly she got used to having her wand with her. Ivy couldn't imagine going somewhere without it.) Her grip on it relaxed, although she didn't let go yet. She wasn't quite sure of what this boy intended to do yet, and without that knowledge, there was no way in hell that she was going to fully trust him yet. After all, why would anyone be out and about at this time?
Ivy didn't let her suspiciousness show on her face, instead choosing to smile cordially at him. "No, of course not," she responded politely. "I was just a little startled by your presence." Ivy made sure to keep some distance between them, wary of the boy who had suddenly popped up out of nowhere. He seemed to be trying to get closer to her, and she backed away slightly, eyeing him carefully. "I'm Ivy Bellamy." Perhaps the surname would be recognized, the girl thought vaguely. The Bellamy family was rather well-known throughout the southeast of England, after all.
"And you are...?" Ivy didn't recognize the boy by his face, but perhaps she would know him by name. This was the case for plenty of students in Hogwarts; their reputation would reach Ivy's ears long before the first 'hello'. Although the Gryffindor tended to stay away from gossip, she had to stay on top of things at least, right?

Percival was glad when the girl relaxed somewhat. It would have been bothersome if the girl had freaked out, and ran before he could pull his prank.
The boy put on his best pureblood manners. It was something that came fairly naturally. Especially, after it had been ingrained in his head basically from birth.
He did not recognize the girl immediately, so he deduced the girl was most likely from a different dorm.
This was a good fact since the girl would have less of a chance running to a perfect complaining about getting a little wet.
Percival just hoped the other wouldn't take his little prank too personally.
"Ah yes. That is mainly my fault." he started.
The boy needed to choose his words carefully, and he gave her an apologetic smile.
"I like to come down to the lake in the evening." he said glancing towards the moonlight that shimmered off the water. "It is very scenic." he added.
Percival could not help but visibly stiffen as the girl asked for his name. Telling the girl his name would not end well for him, and he gave her a polite smile.
"My name is. he started moving closer towards the girl.
In the next couple of seconds, Percival ran the last couple of feet towards the girl, and shoved her hard backward towards the icy lake.

Ivy relaxed a little more when the boy explained his actions. She couldn't find any fault in that, seeing as it was the same reason she had come down herself. "I can understand that," she said, glancing out at the Lake. "It's very pretty. I suppose I'm just not used to other people coming down here, especially now, since it's so cold." It was only the beginning of winter, but seeing as this was Scotland, it was already too chilly for most students' liking.
Her grey eyes would narrow at the boy again as he stiffened at her next question, and her grip on her wand tightened. What was with this boy? There was nothing bad about telling someone your name, unless you were up to something. This time, Ivy didn't relax when he smiled, and as he approached, she backed away carefully, laughing nervously. Her eyes widened as he approached, his arms outstretched. What is he doing? We're at the edge of the Lake! "What are you d-"
Too late. Ivy was falling backwards, way too quickly for her to regain her balance. She gasped and grabbed at empty air, only for her hand to make contact with the boy's arm. The Gryffindor grabbed onto it tightly, foolishly thinking that she could pull herself back up again using him, but the boy only fell into the water with her. She shut her eyes reflexively and let go of him as they went underwater. God, it was so cold...
Ivy kicked upwards and took a deep breath as she lifted her head, treading water furiously as she looked around for the boy. "You're mental!" she coughed, spitting out some of the water she'd ingested. "Why would you do that?" Ivy knew better than to waste any more time and energy yelling at him while she was still in the water, though, so she shut her mouth and swam towards land. She was lucky that it was a calm night, not a windy one, or they'd really be in trouble then.

Percival's eyes widened as he felt the girl make contact with his arm. The boy opened his mouth to tell the girl to let go, but nothing came out but a short yelp. The boy lost his balance, pulled down by the girl, and fell towards the dark black water. His mind went blank as he threw out his arms to try and catch himself. Though nothing was able to stop the pair from going under the water. It was as if the water swallowed the two children whole.
Pins and needles stabbed at his skin as the cold water soaked through his casual wear. The clothes obviously became heavy, and it felt like they were trying to pull him deeper underwater. Percival barely avoided the girl's legs as she kicked her way back to the surface. It only was a second after before he too made his journey back to the surface.
Percival coughed loudly as he tried to clear the water that had entered his mouth when he had fallen into the water with his mouth. Which on his part, was not the smartest move he had made tonight. Percival spit out the water trying to get the pond water taste off his tongue. When the boy finally felt like he wasn't about to drown, he began to make his way towards shore and a very angry looking Ivy.
"It was supposed to just be a joke." he snapped back at the girl. His teeth chattered together as the cold December night made the water unbearably cold. It was a surprise that the two hadn't gone into shock when they had fallen into the lake. If the weather had been any colder then things would have probably turned out less then ideal.
Percival pulled himself up onto the bank of the Great Lake. The boy coughed every once and a while, his throat agitated from getting water up his nose. Now that he wasn't in immediate harm the boy began to feel annoyed. There went his perfectly set up plan, ruined by this girl. A shiver racked up his spine as a rather cold wind chilled him to the bone. Percival sent a glare towards the girl annoyed at getting drawn into his own prank. "You just had to go and ruin it. Didn't you?" he said crossing his arms.

"A joke? A joke?!" Ivy couldn't believe her ears. Was this boy deranged? "I don't know what your idea of a joke is, but it sure as hell shouldn't be pushing someone into the lake in the middle of winter!" she snapped, still flailing in the water. She swam over to the bank of the Lake and pulled herself up, shivering. Although there was barely any wind, the night air was unbelievably cold on her skin. "I've half a mind to hex you!" the Gryffindor added angrily, wringing the fabric of her robes between her hands to squeeze the water out.
She felt like she could hex him, actually, and she clutched her walnut wand inside of her pocket tightly, grey eyes flashing. "Wait, what? You're actually blaming me?" Ivy said incredulously, advancing on him. What the hell was wrong with this boy? "You pushed me into the lake! Honestly!" She squeezed her walnut wand a little tighter, actually considering the option of hexing the boy right then and there, before deciding it wasn't worth it. First of all, she was absolutely freezing. Secondly, this situation was already hard enough to explain. Hexing him would only add to the complicatedness, and it would make her look bad when he was the one who had pushed her.
"Whatever," said Ivy, and released her grip on the wand. She looked up at the castle, with its warm, inviting lights glowing in the midst of a dark night, and shivered again. Her robes and hair were clinging to her skin, and the night air was unbearably cold. Suddenly she wanted nothing more than to be up in the very dormitory she had wished to escape a few hours ago. "This doesn't mean that I'm letting you off the hook or that I forgive you," she said snidely, glaring at the boy, "because I don't, and I'm going to get you back, but unless we want to get pneumonia, we should probably get back to the castle."

When Push Comes To Shove
Percival glared at the girl as she threatened to hex him. It did not go noticed the way the girl's hand had disappeared inside of her pocket. Most likely to clutch at her wand. The boy narrowed his eyes slightly at the girl he had only recently pushed into a lake.
Water dripped down from his soaked hair falling into his eyes. The boy's noses scrunched up in annoyance at the minor convenience. He brought up his left hand to wipe the water and his bangs aside. "Yes I am blaming you." he said with a glare. Percival's right hand stayed close to his back right pocket. Where his cherry wood wand sat only a few inches from his thumb. His plan hadn't consisted of attacking the girl with his wand, but he wasn't about to sit back and let her attack him.
Percival stood up as the girl walked towards him quickly. He grit his teeth to stop the constant chattering of his teeth clicking together from the cold. Yet, his jaw seemed to have a mind of its own. As it continued to shutter in an up and down motion. Times like these he wished he could do wandless magic. At this rate, it would be way to difficult to properly pronounce a spell. The boy held his hand behind him just in case the girl went through.
The boy could not help but relax when the girl looked away from him. It seemed like she wouldn't be attacking him. Percival was fairly drowsy after the dive into the water, and the thought of a fight was not pleasing. The boy's hand fell away from its hold on his wand. He took the moment to wring out his water-saturated shirt. Letting go of the fabric he shivered as it came back to cling to his form. Inwardly, he decided the next time he did this it would not be in the middle of winter.
Percival's gaze snapped back towards the girl as she addressed him once more. He glared at the girl's snide tone. "Good." he snapped with a glare. Percival didn't want Ivy to like him. If he had he wouldn't have pushed her into a lake. It would have been stupid for him to try and make friends this way.
His eyes narrowed as the girl tried to convince him to go back to the castle seemingly with her. Percival wasn't about to trust that the girl wouldn't run to a Perfect the second they stepped into the castle. Or that she wouldn't open her big mouth and scream. Despite the cold he was feeling the thought of detention didn't sit well with him. "Thanks but no thanks. I am not going anywhere with you." he said crossing his arms in an attempt to keep the cold out. Pneumonia and hypothermia be damned. Percival wouldn't stop the girl if she decided to leave him standing on the shore alone. He could sneak his way back to his dorm when she was out of sight.
