History

Nessa Cernătescu was born in the medieval town of Sighișoara, Transylvania, in her family’s ancestral manor, an austere building of stone and dark wood that had belonged to the Cernătescu family for generations. Her father, a centuries old vampire, is a man of few words but led their home with an iron fist. Her mother, a skilled Romanian pureblood witch, balanced this severity with warmth, guiding Nessa’s early education in language, history, and practical magic. From infancy, Nessa’s life was structured, learning the life of polite society in both her parent's contexts.

Even as a toddler, Nessa displayed unusual traits inherited from her father’s vampiric lineage. She slept lightly at night, much to her Mother's ire, gravitated toward dimly lit spaces, and exhibited an uncanny elegance to her movements. Her mother carefully nurtured her magical potential, recording small incidents of accidental magic while instilling the importance of discipline and control. Despite loving her husband deeply, she desired for her daughter to become as much of a Witch as she was. At age six, during a summer storm, Nessa unknowingly bent the flame of a candle away from herself, which unfortunately set ablaze her bangs. Which for many months, she was forced to sport the unruly hair stye.

When Nessa was seven, rising scrutiny of vampire wizard households in Wizarding Romania compelled her mother to relocate the family to Bansko, Bulgaria, seeking safety and anonymity for her family. Nessa's Father remained in the Carpathians, maintaining correspondence through sealed owls. In Bulgaria, Nessa adapted gradually to new routines, she had been swiftly entered into mainstream wizard society. Under her Mother's tutelage, she became well-educated in her magical and vampiric heritage, but also her magical studies.
First Magic: At age six, during a summer storm, Nessa unknowingly bent the flame of a candle away from herself, a subtle but unmistakable first manifestation of her magical affinity.

History: Valeriy was raised in the woodlands of rural Russia by two women alongside an older brother: Semyon. Living in a remote area meant that the pair of siblings grew up quite isolated from the outside world for the most part, finding solace in the other’s presence. They were virtually inseparable; their kinship went beyond that of most siblings, and they understood each other on a deep level that didn’t even require words. Neither of them spoke much anyway — Valeriy preferring Russian Sign Language, which they were both fluent in due to having a deaf family member — but years together and a fundamental likeness meant that words became unneeded.

Valeriy was homeschooled alongside their brother in their family’s little cottage in the forest. It was small, and there were only a few of them in the household, but it was full of love and it had everything that Valeriy needed. They grew up around all kinds of potions and strange trinkets due to their mothers’ jobs and passions, and they had a natural love for all manner of creatures and plants — from the tiniest insect that their mama had on display to the tallest of the trees in the forest that surrounded them. They spent much of their time in said forest, dancing in the clearings, feeling the moss under their feet, climbing through the tree branches, and so on — sometimes with Semyon, sometimes alone. It was the forest, as much as their loving but busy mothers, that raised them, and they have always felt a deep connection with the natural world.

Attending Durmstrang came with the need to adjust to many new challenges for Valeriy, but they were looking forward to learning, making friends, and being able to spend more time with Semyon again.

Note to help avoid confusion: Semyon and Valeriy are biological siblings, and they are not adopted — their mothers are their biological parents. This is possible because one of their mothers is transgender.

First Magic: While, as a metamorphmagus, Valeriy’s appearance often shifted ever since birth, the first time their magic displayed itself in a different way was an ordinary day when they were about six. They had climbed a tree and were contentedly examining the nature around them when they spotted a bug that they hadn’t seen before. In trying to get closer to it as it ran away, they shuffled along the tree branch and reached out, not realising that they had gone too far until it was too late and they slipped, falling out of the tree. They scrunched their eyes shut as they prepared to hit the hard ground, but no impact ever came. Their eyes slowly opened to find themself hovering not far above the ground, and their excitement ended the magic, causing them to finally drop the last centimetres and land softly.

Reducio
Both Reznikov siblings had always been strange children. However, from a young age, it quickly became apparent that there was something even more different about Valeriy. Frequently, the colour of their skin, hair, and eyes would shift with their emotions, sometimes drastically. It was a trait that hadn’t shown up in their family for generations, but was nonetheless known to be a part of their family line — a great-grandparent of Valeriy’s had been a metamorphmagus, and there had previously been others, too — so it hadn’t come as a complete surprise when little Lera had demonstrated these special abilities from a young age.

Unlike some, Valeriy’s parents did not try to teach them to hide that they were a metamorphmagus; rather, they encouraged them to embrace it. The two women were very peculiar themselves, and were proponents of living an authentic life and being true to oneself. As a result, Valeriy grew up without the pressure to hide these aspects of themself, and, instead, they were able to thrive and maintain various forms of self-expression, with facets of their appearance quite constantly shifting. Growing up both sheltered and supported, Valeriy is unabashedly themself — openly, without walls or limits, ignoring societal norms and constructs when they don’t fit them.

One such construct is gender — a concept that has never meant much to Valeriy. They are simply a being — why must certain roles be ascribed to them based largely on features that, as a metamorphmagus, aren’t even completely fixed? They are just who they are — not a girl, not a boy, just them. Their mother being transgender meant that, early on, they were introduced to the idea of gender being separated from one’s body, as well, which allowed them more freedom with their identity, and them being a metamorphmagus only furthered that. They frequently ended up with features typical of both sexes, blurring the lines of what people would perceive them as.

Another feature that grew common for them to have was their eye colours, which often became a mirror of their brother’s — a green left eye and a brown right eye, the opposite of Semyon’s natural heterochromia (with a brown left eye and green right eye). It reflects the siblings’ bond and Valeriy’s desire to be close to their brother, showing that they care and that they view themself as a kindred spirit to him. Their time spent together and their similarity meant that Valeriy saw some of themself reflected in him (or, rather, some of him reflected in themself), and, as with many of their feelings, their body made this externally known, too.

While Valeriy rarely spoke directly, they were expressive in other ways. Their body responded to their emotions and thoughts, as well as to the world around them. It wasn’t uncommon for them to be holding a bug and have their hair or eyes change colour to match it, for example, or for their hair to change texture to become more feathery as they watched a bird. Their love for nature was intimately woven into their own being, and they experienced it with every sense available to them, truly connected.

If special race/ability, how did they join the school? Accepted normally, as they would’ve joined the school for their foundation year beginning in September 2024.

History
Located in the medieval town of Sighișoara, Transylvania, was the generational home of the Cernătescu family. The Cernătescu’s were a well known dark wizarding family of Sighișoara. The ancestral manor located in the heart of the town, was an austere building of stone and ancient wards that had belonged to the family for over 800 years. The Lord of the estate, Constantin Cernătescu, was a gifted potioneer that had long been interested in the beautiful Elena Cernătescu nee' Botezatu. Elena was an Ancient Runes governess that was frequently employed by local wizarding families. The two had met when Lord Cernătescu required a governess for his niece Bella. Quickly did they fall into love, and were wedded January of 1997. Elena, who was also from a pure-blooded wizarding family, was quick to give their daughter's hand in marriage, especially to a young handsome wizard, such as Nessa's father. Alas, after the birth of their first child, who was registered as half-breed, the purity of Lord Cernătescu’s blood began to be put into question. Both Lord and Lady Cernătescu, were hesitant to reveal Lord Cernătescu's nature, especially now with Nessa and another child soon on the way, Lady Cernătescu, was far from willing to risk the wrath of the Botezatu House.
As the years passed and the birth of their now fourth child; Nessa's parents were beginning to discuss relocating their family. With the rising scrutiny of vampire wizard households in Romania, they were compelled to leave. Packing up their necessities, Lady Cernătescu took her children: Nessa Cernătescu, Andrei Cernătescu, David Cernătescu, and her newborn Nicloas Cernătescu, to Bulgaria. With all children in tow, the Lady sought safety and anonymity in Bansko for her family.. Nessa's Father remained in the Carpathians to maintain ties, while corresponding through sealed owls to his wife and children.
It wasn’t until the winter of 2018 that the Romanian Ministry, had confirmed what the Botezatu family had long suspected. A routine review of lineage records was initiated under the pretense of inheritance clarification. Which revealed inconsistencies in Lord Cernătescu’s blood classification that could no longer be overlooked. Subsequent inquiries were conducted discreetly and without the knowledge of Lady Cernătescu, and led to the undeniable conclusion that Constantin Cernătescu was not merely associated with vampiric households, but was himself a vampire. The news spread like wildfire, and had cast immediate scrutiny upon the legitimacy of the Cernătescu's marriage and, more importantly, upon the nature of the children born of it.
Within weeks, Nessa Cernătescu’s blood status was reclassified under sealed Ministry authority, her records amended and restricted to the Head of House Botezatu. The ruling was delivered without appeal. Citing concerns for the children’s safety amid increasing hostility toward vampire affiliated wizarding families, the Botezatus enacted custodial authority over Nessa and her youngest brother, Nicholas. The decision was framed as protective, procedural, and made final. Under House oversight, provisions were made for their education, guardianship, and continued monitoring. By her tenth birthday, Nessa was enrolled at Durmstrang, a decision that finally granted her the freedom to contact her parents and siblings. With reconnecting ties with her family, more than ever, Nessa is objective to return to the Botezatus household. Alas, she couldn't leave Nicholas behind, and it’s her love for her little brother that keeps her within the iron grasp of their grandparents.

Born from a human mother, Elena Cernătescu nee' Botezatu, who came from a pure-blooded wizarding family. Said family, the House of Botezatu, was quick to give their daughter's hand away in marriage, especially to a young handsome wizard, such as Constantin Cernătescu. Alas, after the birth of Nessa Cernătescu, who was registered as a half-breed, after a rather akward gobliun visit. The purity of Lord Cernătescu’s blood began to be put into question by the House of Botezatu. Both Lord and Lady Cernătescu, were hesitant to reveal Lord Cernătescu's nature, especially now with Nessa and another child soon on the way. Lady Cernătescu, was far from willing to risk the wrath of the Botezatu House and was willing to cut ties for a time.

Nessa's father, Constantin Cernătescu, had carried vampirism his whole life, and had always known his children would possess his vampiric traits as well. Marrying into Lord Cernătescu's family, Elena was also made aware of his disposition before marriage, but also how this would effect their future children.

It wasn't until 2018 that the Romanian Ministry had confirmed that Constantin Cernătescu was not merely associated with vampiric households, but was himself a vampire. The news spread like wildfire despite the family's best efforts, and had cast immediate scrutiny upon the legitimacy of the Cernătescu's marriage and, more importantly, upon the nature of the children born of it. Within weeks, Nessa Cernătescu and her sibling's blood status was reclassified under sealed Ministry authority, leaving their family at risk of legal seperation.

As they predicted, the Head of the Motezatu House, began to make public concerns for the children’s safety. With the help of the increasing hostility toward vampire affiliated wizarding families, the Botezatus's enacted custodial authority over Nessa and her siblings. With a swift and bias case, the children were quickly relocated to the House of Motezatu, where they would all attend Durmstrang.

Despite the Motezatu's best efforts to keep Nessa's nature a secret, her vampiric traits are shown through pretty evidently. Possessing the same pale skin as her father and a heavy dislike towards sunlight. Nessa does have her mother's eyes, but her pupils do tend to widen enough to appear black when not in the light. To truly add the topper to the cake of ill-hidden traits, Nessa possesses retractable fangs concealed behind otherwise normal gums. Although Nessa is very envious of her father's own fangs, whereas he does not possess a rather embarrassing gap in his pearly whites. Where she saddly does, due to being Dhampir and not Vampire.

Despite the stigma surrounding blood consumption, and the fact that Nessa is fully capable of surviving primarily on normal human food. Her Father raised her on nothing but blood, and was her preference as a young child, now older, she hesitates to do so. Aware of the social and ethical consequences of feeding on others (or even creatures), she strictly adheres to Ministry policy, and takes care to steer far from unappealing actions. She views these precautions as an inconvenience in most cases, but alas, her grandparents insist with the ritual-like seriousness she requires to attend school. And with good behavior comes a bag of bloodpops...yes, bloodpops. Rather a nasty candy, but its what distracts her from unsavery behavior, according to an 'expert'.

If special race/ability, how did they join the school: Nessa was accepted normally as a first year student in September of 2023. Her dhampir heritage was disclosed privately to the Durmstrang administration by her mother, ensuring her enrollment while keeping her abilities discreet. She integrated into school life like any other first year, with staff monitoring her "unique" traits.

History:
Reducio
Born and baptised just north of Kifissia, in Athens, Greece, Alexios Katsaros had never been offered things in halves, and he’d never been raised to accept anything but his best effort towards the whole, either. He is his parents’ first and only son; clear responsibilities and high expectations shaped his childhood, and yet, for all its restraint, one could never consider it anything but pampered.

Nikolaos Katsaros—pureblood, aspiring preacher, and distinguished judge— shepherded the family’s reputation just as easily as he demanded order in church and court. His wife, Kaethe Sotiriou, was much the same. Despite Kaethe’s dubious heritage, she had internalised the same high-born pride that characterised most respectable wizards and earned her reputation as a respected violin soloist long before marriage. Together, the two are a united front in the perpetual pursuit of success. They’d endured much controversy throughout their years together, but had always aimed to provide the best for Alexios and his younger sister, Ariadne.

Owing to overly traditional customs, which their mother often embraced with fervent insistence, Alexios and Ariadne were educated separately after a certain age. Even so, they spent most of their free time together and had always been extremely close. They often accompanied their parents to courts and concert halls alike, curiously imitating the cultured, serious affectations of the people around them. When neither of their parents had work, the family often took time to visit museums, beaches and cultural sites, which made art, music, and religion prominent pillars of their extracurricular education. What was worth a life of privilege if it lacked a critic’s discerning eye for taste? Carefully tutored in both spiritual and material matters, both children grew up under the wing of lush, moralised ambition, wanting for nothing but approval—the likes of which plentifully offered—and perhaps less time out of the day with their strictest tutors.

And yet, simmering beneath the surface lay tensions that existed well beyond such indulgences. Nikolaus and Kaethe did not often speak to their families, not out of shame on their part or deliberate caution on either lineage’s, but out of a sense of lingering exclusion that had failed to die away. In truth, Nikolaus had married below his rank, and, though she’d risen well above the limitations of illegitimacy, Kaethe herself had been the product of an affair. The two scandals had not been enough to relinquish their families’ lenient loyalties, but Kaethe had never recovered from the blow to her lineage’s pride, no matter how involuntary her role had been. Even in the minutest interactions held the opportunity to shame her—she’d never learned Russian, not in the same way her husband had at Durmstrang, and never in the same way she’d had her children educated in her stead. Slighted by her father’s mistakes, there was nothing but the harsh reality of wizarding discrimination that had raised Alexios’s mother. She would not allow her children the same struggles, no matter how different their paths were from her own.

Alexios had grown up intimately familiar with his parents’ great expectations. It had never been hidden from him—in fact, his parents had always been very forthright about his birthright responsibility, and often charged him to recapture all of which they’d envisioned for him. Ariadne was only two years younger, but even a single moment could mean the difference between needless sacrifice and true success. While his sweet, sensitive sister remained the protected white sheep of the family, Alexios had always, without protest, borne the beautiful golden fleece of favouritism. His very existence had been celebrated with all the lavish trappings of his family’s favour. Though many other children would have felt stifled by such expectation, the bright-eyed and ever-obedient Alexios truthfully flourished under the attention. He had been Kaethe’s golden boy from the beginning, a living ticket towards achieving respect from their once-pure lineage. A lofty task, perhaps, but nothing unrealisable for a boy well-versed in mythos’s most impossible feats. He’d always thought himself clever, his parents infinitely moreso, and such a position of privilege suited him well. Even Durmstrang itself held little ideological threat in the face of faith, though the day he’d been offered attendance remained only one of many future fulfillments he sought for his family to boast.

Reducio
Athens, late July 2021.

It had been abnormally warm that summer—swelteringly so, even with magic to keep a wizarding household’s inhabitants somewhat more comfortable than the rest of Greece’s poor Muggle population. For two weeks straight, the entire country seemed under a haze of extreme heat, and if Nikolaus Katsaros’ complaints were to be believed, it’d likely get no cooler in the days to come. Sick of the trouble and unwilling to spend their days trapped inside, the Katsaros had brought their two young children to the outlying coves of Thimari beach, where the clear waters and pebbled shoreline provided more privacy than other beaches surrounding Attica. They spent a handful of hours relaxing before turning back for dinnertime, one of many small pleasures that characterised their free days when neither parent had work.

7-year-old Alexios was too young to have truly remembered anything more of the occasion than the burning sand—his father indulgently picking him up to bypass all but the beautiful, glittering ocean shore— and the evening sun reflecting off the water. Even so, his parents had always looked back on the occasion with such fondness that it was impossible to question them, not that he’d ever been in the habit of doing so. While Nikolaos carefully corralled Alexios around the shallow waters, Kaethe stayed further back to attend to young Ariadne. More often than not, her son would come running back at every other shiny stone or shell Nikolaos had been unable to stop him from collecting, ecstatic at the opportunity to show off his findings to his curious younger sister and equally willing to pry her away from the commonest treasures washed ashore.

As the sun began to set on Athens, so came the burgeoning end of their beach outing. For most other children, Ariadne included, this normally meant a great deal of fussing and wishing to stay longer. Yet Alexios had always been—as his father was often proud to boast—strong-willed but never difficult, and so acquiesced easily to the promise of family dinnertime. As she handed off one child for another, Nikolaos methodically gathered their things.

And yet, when Kaethe turned back towards Alexios, her arm already outstretched to draw him into a hug and soothe his post-swim shivers, she suddenly felt a strange shift of wind in her hair. It was too hot even for the heat haze that’d threatened them all day, and when she looked up where Nikolaos stood less than a meter away, far too localised to be a true breeze. Her husband’s eyebrows were raised in surprise, his eyes glinting with the ambition she’d married him for as he looked upon their eldest.

Plans were already forming in her mind as she drew back and found Alexios’s linen shirt salt-stiff yet unwrinkled, his fair hair mysteriously ruffled, dry, and his face flushed warm even under the summer sun. He’d by then been splashing around for nearly two hours, yet seemed as if he’d been laid out in a towel for that same amount of time. Even as Kaethe smoothed down an errant lock, Alexios had looked up at her so guilelessly, with such child-like confusion at her surprise over his unconscious help, that she knew without doubt that her favouritism was not without cause. For years, she’d privately wondered what his first instance of magic would be. It hadn’t been to throw open the curtains like he wanted to every morning, or even to blow out the lit candles he often stared at before bed—no, to spare himself from needless discomfort, he’d somehow aided them amid life’s greater storm.

Oh, her sweet, spoilt son. Yes, he had been all they’d ever hoped for. Already, he’d proven himself as the start of everything she’d ever wanted and more.

If not for the sins of her father, Kaethe Sotiriou could have held the world in her hands. If not for the selfishness of one man, so much more could have been promised to her.

Known for their wide-reaching history of civic and political influence over wizarding Athens, the Sotiriou’s enjoyed a particularly privileged position in society independent of the region’s equally historic reputation for mysticism and rebirth. Even as the Muggle world fell to pieces and rebuilt itself around them—as it was wont to do—they’ve always defended their pureblood dignity, acting as politicians and performers alike to hold onto authority as tightly as their ideals. To be born into the Sotiriou family was to believe that everything had its place, and that your own was everywhere at once. With inheritance split lavishly, it seemed as if its various family members had every resource at their command—a privilege often well-exploited.

Alexios’s maternal grandfather, Leonidas, had graduated from Durmstrang with full honours and won a position as an apparition examiner within weeks. As with most Sotiriou members, the family’s careful machinations did exactly as they were meant to in easing the path ahead, even if he’d never been as politically important as others. Leonidas was the spare son of a branch family, never beholden to the same responsibilities as his elder brother. Even with the formidable Valeria Chiotis as his wife, he took that freedom to heart. Even after having children, Leonidas spent more time working, sporting, and socialising in private clubs than at home. No matter what minor wrongs he committed, he’d always been convinced that his family would take care of the matter as easily as they’d excuse the best and worst of him, and, despite everything, he was right—the Sotiriou sense of responsibility was too strong to abandon him. The truth was, Leonidas had always had weak self-control; A lifetime of indulgences ensured it, and his family’s disapproving tolerance only perpetuated it.

Life continued as it always had for him, a rollercoaster of professionalism by day and poor decisions by night. To be seen out with the prettiest woman on his arm—intoxicated by the scandal and the sheer danger of it all—was by far his favourite way to spend his years, and his wife held too much pride to shatter their branch’s coherence over his frequent womanising. It was not until much later that he realised the consequences of his actions, when one of his favourite flirtations—an opera singer, and a full-blooded veela, he’d later realise—delivered to his wife the most undeniable proof of his infidelity: a child and a half-breed at that.

Kaethe Sotiriou, named in cruel irony of her impure heritage, entered into wizarding Athens as a child condemned, promised to a life of discrimination and perpetual scrutiny. It was scandalous enough for her to be a product of an affair, but her unnaturally fair features and sudden appearance differentiated her from the rest of her half-siblings. And yet, despite her bastard birth, Valeria Chiotis could not bear to waste such readily offered potential. Leonidas’s inattentive disloyalty outshone their years of unhappy marriage, but it had not blinded Valeria enough to abandon pity. Kaethe would never be promised the fair fortune of her pureblooded siblings, but she’d been taken in by her father’s legal wife and raised amongst her betters regardless.

How she adored her stepmother’s drive: unswervingly, ruthlessly dignified even in the face of social embarrassment and ridicule. Kaethe would never settle for a man as irresponsible as her own father, of course, but Valeria’s support paved the path forward. She’d been too grateful to do anything but to take her stepmother’s admonishments at face value—in some sense, her peers were right. She was, truthfully, lesser than in blood and breed alike, but to treat herself thusly would be to admit the ingloriousness of bastardy. Though she was not a proper Sotiriou, she still had a duty to act otherwise while she still belonged to their bloodline.

As a half-veela, Kaethe was barred from Durmstrang, yet she was not left to rot. No, she’d been gifted a private education as good as any natural child. She’d been offered opportunities, not as grand as even her most sympathetic full-human relatives, but opportunities nonetheless. Even as her own family and potential friends looked down upon her tarnished bloodline, addressing her as more sin than sister, Kaethe held richer scraps than her heritage implied. She endured the ridicule with, well, not necessarily dignity, for she’d never developed a thick enough skin to tolerate the frequent slights often aimed at her reputation, but begrudging acceptance throughout her life and into her illustrious career as a violin soloist. Her half-breed status, the likes of which often disparaged by the wizarding community, had always stifled her ambition. Music, however, had the capacity to free her from such banal criticisms. Talent captured attention more genuinely than her Veela heritage’s coercion.

She met Nikolaos Katsaros, then concertmaster and notable member of a shrinking pureblood society, while performing in Thessaloniki. They’d hit it off immediately, almost too quickly considering their unequal statuses, and spent several years dancing around each other with increasing interest. Though contemporary to the Sotiriou family, the Katsaros were not quite as unquestioningly influential. They were, however, far more militant in character and therefore much higher on the pureblood hierarchy. The leniency that pardoned Leonidas Sotiriou’s behaviour would have never been tolerated in Nikalous’ family, even as a second son. Kaethe had never had someone who’d defend her so fervently, so morally and without blame, even while knowing her quick temper and ruinous prospects, and so Nikolaos had broken through her hard exterior rather handily.

When the topic of marriage arrived, Kaethe jumped at the opportunity with full confidence. Ever under-estimated, ever demeaned despite her stepmother’s tolerance, of course, she’d accept. She’d always desired something more than the life of a woman scorned, and this was her chance to further a legacy beyond her own talent. Nikalous, of course, loved Kaethe with his own ulterior motives, but such motivations had always twinned her ever-present wish for social mobility. Love had its place, yet so did the supposed supernatural ‘benefits’ of her despised Veela heritage. Where she saw a dilution of shame, he saw an enhancement of pride. The Katsaros valued prestige over all other virtues, and he’d been captivated by her since the first time he saw her on stage. She was the orchestra’s jewel, he her admirer, and together they’d outshine the world.

They’d married with great pomp and circumstance, much to both families’ outrage and only begrudging attendance. Had Kaethe’s ever-looming non-human heritage and bastard status not been so obvious, perhaps there would not have been nearly as many protests, but as it stood, marrying above her station and so publicly had sparked incredible controversy. She’d never met her mother, and never desired to, not after so much passive-aggressive cruelty in her youth, but the full-blooded veela’s influence seemed to follow her no matter what she became. For her own children, Kaethe would offer only the best, and Nikolaos had always worked to give her that opportunity.

Raised as a young prince among men, Alexios grew up experiencing little of the scorn that his mother had endured. If anything, the golden string of Kaethe’s natural allure stretched the least with her firstborn, whose sociable nature and love for the arts always drew more intrigue than contempt. There was no doubt in his Veela heritage, not with the varied attention so often offered to him, and certainly not with the added gleam of plausible deniability blinding the worst of his good intentions. He’d never spent a day lacking options, never found a way to visit a store with his parents without somehow being plied with compliments. Unlike Ariadne, who’d inherited far more of Nikalous’s features, Alexios took on much of Kaethe’s own colouring. The pretty blond hair and sweet, bell-like voice she’d always been mocked for looked far less dishonourable when surrounded by kin, and he boasted the palest blue eyes she’d ever seen. They were lighter than her own, likely reflecting his unknown grandmother’s features, and failed to darken as he grew older.

Alexios—her darling child, their light of lights—represented to the family not only the prospect of restored honour but also all of their hopes and dreams. When he’d been accepted into Durmstrang, the same wizarding establishment that’d taken one look at Kaethe’s ancestry and rejected her decades prior, it marked the start of a new era, a better one, with Alexios at its helm. And if Nikolaos and Kaethe had always been the ones legitimately steering, he’d know better than to be led astray.

Noel Clavero is the grandson of Jacquemine du Clermont and Regnault du Clermont, pure-blooded magical aristocrats from the borderlands between France and Italy. In a familial tragedy, Regnault du Clermont came to learn something that remains unspoken to this day. The French aristocrat and business owner of both Gemstone and Mineral mines, was shortly thereafter sent to Azkaban, where he lost his life.
Noel’s grandmother, Jacquemine du Clermont, had before her beloved departed for trial—at his urging—left France behind. Along with property, luxury, family and friends, the young lady fled to Italy with her daughter. Noel’s mother was still a toddler at the time. She was told by Jacquemine only that her father Regnault had died because he refused to act and stood tall for his morals. Further she explained, that it was vital to begin anew. Exiling herself deliberately, the surname Clavero emerged phonetically from the former “du Clermont”. It was chosen so as not to immediately draw attention in Italy. From Noel‘s Mother Marié du Clermont, became Marietta Clavero.
Marietta conceived Noel in a short affair with her friend Jean-Yves De Varenne, a Frenchman. The father, however, was more a donor than a parent. Jean-Yves assumed the role of godfather instead. The two had decided that she would raise Noel alone, and that they would communicate the matter as transparently and age-appropriately as possible.

Overall, a family structure emerged shaped by aristocratic modes of upbringing, a focus on eccentric education, and the knowledge of hard labour as a newly inherited aim—all pursued beneath the shadow of nameless demons. What precisely had happened to Noel’s grandfather was taken to the grave by his grandmother. Unfortunately, his grandmother died before Noel could meet her. The weight of departure and the horror of Jacquemine du Clermont’s paranoia found their echo in Noel’s upbringing nonetheless. Driven by a conflict of inherited distrust without its explanation, Marietta Clavero likewise raised her son Noel within the tension and aristocratic values of her mother.
Blended with the influence of his French, England-based godfather, Noel was encouraged into multilingualism from an early age. He was also initiated early into the scant knowledge of his family’s origins—and kept from speculating about Regnault through prohibitions. It rained «You are not to go to the du Clermont estate without permission» and «Have you practised piano today?»
Still, it did not stop him. Like a moth drawn to a withered light, the then five-year-old was pulled as often as possible to slip out and visit the ruins in secret. All aside, one could hardly call Marietta overly strict. She was authoritative and demanding, yet never cold or rigid. Noel grew up content. The secret of his visits remained carefully hidden and was recorded only in the practising script of his childhood diaries. It became his favourite place, a haven far from the structures of life. Thus it at first broke his heart, when they moved away in his seventh year of his life. Their relocation was driven by a career opportunity. His mother longed to return to the proximity of aristocratic walls—and wished to be far from the unease Jacquemine had left behind in her with regard to the du Clermont history and estate. Marietta began working for a high-society family more south in Italy. Suddenly, Noel spent five days a week in the midday care of a governess. He saw their former home and the estate only during holidays, when Marietta was exceptionally drawn back to the borderlands and her friends. Even so, he and his mother remained a well-attuned team. She enjoyed speaking with her son every time she returned home in the late evenings. They discussed her working days, norms and values, and new insights. Sometimes, Noel was even brought along to her working destination. Perhaps this was precisely what unsettled him about the second move.

After years of transparency, Marietta suddenly relocated with him to Austria following his first magical occurrence. It offered what Italy could not: a distance from her demons, the du Clermont legacy of rot and access to Durmstrang for her son. She did not want him anywhere near the french magical society that she believed, had destroyed her father.
«But I want to go to Beauxbatons—I have friends in Italy,» became the central refrain when the news reached him. Marietta only sighed, and the familiar tension settled into her eyes.
It was the kind he knew from whenever the du Clermont were mentioned. «Perhaps they will be send to Hogwarts instead? It hardly matters. You will enjoy Durmstrang just as much, and Austria has a very fine magical preparation programme. The rest will be handled by Floo powder.»
Marietta was proven right. Reliable as she had always been, Noel, French by lineage and Italian by birth, had no trouble forming new acquaintances. Distance was bridged by Floo powder. Weekends and holidays were still spent in the borderlands, and he was often allowed to accompany her on her work trips to Italy, passing the afternoons beneath the Mediterranean sun. Fluent in French, English, German, and Italian, a sense of independence and control over his surroundings soon took shape and has accompanied him ever since.

[Note: It remains unknown to the public exactly why Regnault du Clermont, once of impeccably aristocratic standing, was sent to Azkaban within the span of only a few days. His wife, Noel’s grandmother, however, learned ,after years of private investigation, that he had simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time. During one of his long visits to London, the Frenchman had come upon information about a group of high-ranking figures within the aristocracy. Urged to join their ranks and activities, he held fast to his values and refused the invitation. To eliminate the risk, that very group used their corrupt connections within the Ministry to force Regnault to Azkaban under false charges.]

His mother, Marietta, was occupied setting a pot of coffee to brew in the kitchen next door when Noel lingered in front of the keys. The ‚upright grand‘—an old wooden piano, that cuddled close against the wall—stood before him as though intent on vexing the eight-year-old. Noel struck a bored, deep A. The wide stretch refused to settle into his fingers, and the mood for it was missing just the same.
«You’re meant to practise,» his mother‘s strict voice suddenly called from the adjacent room, «not just lounge about and press random notes, or you’ll be sitting there until midnight!»
At the thought, the boy rolled his eyes. He knew his mother, and he could well imagine her keeping him on the stool until “Morning Prayer” from Tchaikovsky drowned the living room. With a theatrical sigh, Noel leaned back. His head tipped against the nape. The blond hair fell from his face, when suddenly her thunderous voice burst from the doorway. «Noel! Practice!»
It stripped his nerves bare. Startled, he pulled his hand from the keys and drew his shoulders in tight. Yet the piano began to dutifully play. Marietta’s delight at his first magic was considerably lessened by the sheer audacity of it. «Congratulations, but this won’t count…»

Status: Pureblood
Residence: Kaliningrad, Russian Federation
Nationality: Russian
History: Starkov had become a name you inherit, not one you were born into.

Liliya, like all her brothers and sisters, once bore a different last name. May it be Karenina or Vasiliev, all would be united under the collected patronymic Ivanovich or -novna. From the first day you step under the Starkov banners, or shoot your first arrow from a Starkov bow, there is no return to the families that once left you.

It was under the care of the Starkovs that for the first time, she was lovingly known as “Lilya”. But how did she come to be under the guardianship of one of Russia’s most influential shipping families, and who was she before she wore this silvery mask?

February 29th, 2012 — a rare birthdate for an even rarer girl — Liliya’s first home was St. Petersburg, Russia. Born into a family where love was conditional at best, lacking at worst, the only girl, youngest child, and black sheep was treated with disrespect and indifference. Without a father’s care or a mother’s concern, she grew up for the first eight years of her life in a household that raised brows and questions.

Eventually, questions grew to caution, and caution to action. Domestic use of Dark Magic broke out in a flurry of events, and after long, hard battles, the law could no longer turn a blind eye to their happenings. After legalities, lawyers, and court case after court case, her birth parents failed to keep Liliya’s custody, and she was liberated from their mistreatment.

But she was also plunged into the hells of the foster system. Bouncing from one family to another, each left a particularly sour taste in her mouth, and rarely did she feel the true warmth of a Sunday roast or a homemade dinner. Throughout it all, though, she never lost hope for a better world and a better life.

It was the spring of 2025 that was a life-changing era. Liliya was reluctant to go, all the way in the distant oblast of Kaliningrad and its port city, to a couple struggling with infertility. But soon, she learnt the Starkovs offered something none of the other families did: opportunity. Privilege, connections, and a wealth of possibilities at her disposal, Liliya soon fell in love with their way of life. She busied herself within their business and stepping up into positions of further power. Her efforts paid off. Summer of 2025, the adoption process worked in her favour, and the Starkov family welcomed yet another member into their ranks.

The patriarch and matriarch of the Starkov line, Ivan and Oliwia, delved themselves into the Dark Arts, yet they never failed to be kind. A paradox that shaped a juxtaposition of personalities, Liliya grew to be ruthless, yet with a deep caring for the world.

Her education having been disrupted with the constant moving of households, she mainly attended smaller schools scattered across her various foster homes in Russia. Becoming a member of the Starkov household, they insisted she be educated at the school where many Starkov alumni graduated: Durmstrang academy. And hence, in the autumn of 2025, her journey began.
First Magic: Winter of 2021. Liliya had just turned nine years old with no celebration, no birthday cake, no candles. She had come running from her room only to find nothing awaiting her. Feeling the tears well to her eyes, voices rose to chastise her for her disruption, and she raced back to her room. There, for the first time, she picked up a pair of scissors, and held them to her hair. The first few strands were impossible to cut, as if her own magic disagreed with her impulsive emotions, before relenting to her heart’s crooked desire.

History: The pure-blooded Falk Family of Sweden is represented by the character Magnus Falk. Magnus is the son of Elias and Astrid Falk, both of whom have been in high positions within the Ministry. As such, the young man spent most of his time with his grandmother, who to him is a constant presence in his life. She taught him the importance of tradition, discipline, and strength. As a young man growing up in the cold climate of the North, Magnus learned the importance of independence by observing all that was going on around him. It is through the teachings of his grandmother that he was able to acquire an old-world view, which is totally different from what his father would have taught him, as this view is imparted by his parents. Due to his shortness, he was underestimated, and this is something he took advantage of, as he was very strategic in his thinking, thinking ahead of time. He is conservative in nature when it comes to trusting people, but he was fiercely loyal to the few people he allowed into his life, as he struggled to come to terms with the pressure that was being mounted on him by his family, and tried to get to know who he really was as a person.
First Magic: The first time Magnus Falk exhibited magic was when he was 7, a rare occurrence in which his normal restraint slipped, and he became unleashed as a child, angry and frustrated by his parents' perpetual absences and high expectations placed upon him by his family, when he snapped after being reprimanded by his grandmother. However, he was not loud in his reaction but rather cold and controlled; nonetheless, his anger had a heat so great that it reacted with the room; the temperature dropped drastically; all of a sudden, the surfaces were covered with ice; the other objects shaking and snapping from their positions; the effect was that there was a blast of wind from his body, knocking them over as if air had forced them away from him. Suddenly, everything stopped; everything was quiet, and everything felt cold. His grandmother did not know what happened; however, immediately after the incident was his first experience with magic, and thus she was able to recognise what occurred; while Magnus felt shocked at the damage that had been done, but his real fear was losing control of his magic.

Apperance:

Anthamasia is quite tall for a gril her age, but not lacky like other children still growing in their bodies. At times she bemoans her height as it makes shopping difficult. She has light blue eyes, some say they are like crystals. But she’d rather have darker eyes, as the sun tends to hurt them.

She inherited her auburn hair from her mother, a staple in the Penka family. She tends to wear it down, deciding not to fuss with wrangling her waves into an updo. Though sometimes she’ll decided to tie it up half way just to keep it out of her face.

Personality:
Reducio
Anthamasia is a difficult but brillaint child, one who is cunning and hardworking, she is also honest and straightforward. However, because of that honesty, she can be also honest to a fault. Sometime insesitive when it comes to her peers. Not afraid to speak her mind she often seems rude to other. She twists peoples words and manipulate others to do as she pleases. Especially when she thinks that person is being inefficaent or “dumb”. A smart child with a difficult personality which makes friends hard to come by.

On the surface, Anthamasia seems to float through the world uncaring of most things, engading in debats with others when she feels like it. Looking for entertainment in the shape of others. If she doesn’t find it, she’ll make it herself.

History:
Reducio
Anthamasia was born to Svetlana and Vasily Penka on Febuary 14th , 2014 in Alexandrovsky, Aleysky District, Altai Krai, Russia. She was raised in a rather large and sprawling family, always under their watchful eyes. The family brought her up communally instead of just having her mother and father raise her. This allowed the couple to maintain their duites to the family rather than focusing all their attention on Anthmasia.

This suited the child quite well, allowing her the freedom to do mostly as she pleased. Her days were often filled with parties and lessons, learning how to interact with her fellow peers while representing the family. While also learning skills to help take over the family bussiness when she was older and prepping for her eventual tutelage at Durmstrang.

Her schooling was decided from the moment she was born, so long as her first instance of magic did not take place outside of Durmstrang’s area. She would attend the school instead of Koldovstoretz. In fact her family made the point to keep her in the country until her first instance of magic happend. After that they finally let her attend international vactions and gatherings. Some thing that both pleased and displeased Anthamasia; pleased that she was allowed more freedom to explore new places, and displeasure at the fact she had to attend more parties.

Anthamasia is the eldest of three. Artem, her only brother, is the second eldest and is 8 years old. Aleksandra, her only sister, is yougest an is 1 year old. While the family still communally raises the children, for Artems’ and Aleksandras’ births it was different. Svetlana took an more promidenat role in raising them compared to anthamasia, specifially after their births.

After which Svetlana directed Anthamasia to look after her siblings, stating that she wished for them to become closer. Many in the family believe this was a mistake. Rather than ‘close’ the children seem to have taken this request as a demand instead, and remained distant instead. Uniting in public but not showing much interest in each other behind closed doors. At least this is how it appears on the surface. Because of this it is common for Anthamasia to trail after her younger siblings like a watchful wraith. Often drawing peoples attention to her “dearest” siblings.

First Magic:
Reducio
Anthamasia’s first acidental magic occurred when she was 4 and was not the most happiest of moments for her at the time. Although now she looks back on it and laughs, for her back then it had been rather scary. You see when children are given mostly unlimited reign on a large house to run around as they please, you should make sure the house is child proof. Which the Penka’s did, however the tenacity of children should not be underestimated.

Anthamasia had acidently locked herself in a wardrobe, alarming but it was not being trapped that scared her. It was being trapped in a dark space that scared her. Causing her magic to react to the dark space by lighting it up. Luckily, the light shinning from under the door allowed her family members to eventually find her. Where they then celebrated her first instance of magic, to her chagrin.

Anthamasia, does not startle easily anymore. Although in the past it was much different. Her first instance of magic came from a place of fear after all. Though perhaps that is why some members of her family sought to ensure she would not have to use her magic in fear again. So many members began to "train" her fears out of her throiugh various methods, mostly involving exposure therapy. At first they limited it to things she was already afraid of; the dark, heights, loud noises. Evetually it evolved into exposing Anthamaisa in a safe enviroment to new things in hopes she would not fear them in the future. Overall it seemed to work, at least a little too well at times, you could say she is now Fearless.

Melissa, or as her family call her Mel, grew up in a household with a snotty, grotty thinking that bogies are a nice gift brother ( Or as most people call him Carlos), a papa who was the kindest person you could ever meet but he was a perfectionist. Her family were in possession of several fish ( Angelfishes, called Carrot, Melon and Mango if you really wanted to know) but they died after a year and a bit. Oh, yeah and a mother who died giving birth to Carlos. Yep, her mama was cruelly snatched away after only three years of knowing her. Mel knows it’s not true but sometimes she feels that it is Carlos’s fault her dear mama died but that’s just unfair to him. Her mama was a Veela and extremely beautiful, and that made Melissa a half-Veela.

As a child she had always loved food. Jokingly sometimes her papa and brother call her the living dustbin, because she eats everything she can. Melissa’s life is full of chaos, fun and laughter but she wouldn’t change a thing. ( except maybe her mama dying…). Her life was so fun, but she missed her old friends, who’d grew apart from her as she moved to Russia.
