Gryffindor v Slytherin Spring '26 Quidditch

Oonagh spotted Silas on one of the benches and found it quite unfortunate that he would get a chance to join the air before him. Which earned him a rude gesture, not dissimilar to the one he has sent her way earlier, before she went back to her snacks. Of course not without having sufficiently thrown insults at the beater who once made her have week-long check ups in the hospital wing.

Between boredom and exhaustion, the Toussaint boy quickly grew irritable at the lack of participation on his part. Sure, it was in the name of strategy frkm the captains, but Alphonse couldn’t have felt more useless in the moment. He wanted to be the one scoring points, wanted to taste glory as he once had in former games, yet here the Haitian was using his autumn cruiser as a bed.

Fuck it. A least he could catch some zzz’s.

As the round progress. A lot going on. The Keepers were husy blocking attempts at their respective goals. Chasers busy making scored. Beaters, as usual, busy killing each other.

Cash grabbed the shaft of their broom tight in their hand. At this point Cash missed being Beaters. Missed the feeling of whacking that little manace of a Canonball called Bludger.

Miss the crack of their bat against the ball. But the green eyes believe both the Snakes Beater could do it. Or perhaps they spoke to soon as the Sixth-year watched both Aathanos and Blake plummeted to the ground.

Two rounds in and the Cloud Cobra had lost two of their players. The young Ironwoods prayed this game wasn't as brutal as the match against Hufflepuff.

Only time will tell.

Yes! Chaewon felt proud of her team. Slytherins won't let others feel the winning happiness. They had more points than the Gryffindor team - isn't that amazing? Maybe this was the best moment of her life. They still needed to keep their team at the top but right now it looked like they are going to win. And hopefully this was true.

Well, while Silas couldn’t do much from down here, he could at least use his voice and send bad vibes to the other team, attempting to distract or discourage them. He yelled at the top of his lungs — which was considerably louder than those around him — but, despite that, he didn’t quite seem able to deter the main student he was booing, who still hit one of the Slytherins. One of the Slytherin Beaters did finally go down, though, which meant that it was Silas’s turn to play. He jumped up and, without hesitation, mounted his broom. It was like he had a sixth sense, because he glanced over at Oonagh right as she sent a gesture his way. He grinned, which evolved into a taunting smirk and then him sticking his tongue out at her as he shot into the sky.

Yes, Rafal Devereux is the greatest one of all! So this is why he is the Slytherin chaser, scoring repeatedly against those bumbling fools otherwise known as Gryffindors. Laughable, really, that they ever even thought they had the slightest inkling of a chance. Honestly, the lad doesn’t know why he’s so keen for fouls at times. He’s great at this!

Second-String Actions

Strategising was so last round. Everyone still on the bench decided to try their hand at shouting, even as some others left the bench to take the air. Every second-string in Gryffindor and both of the remaining ones for Slytherin screamed their hearts out, some targeting negatively and some positively. Of these six yellers, only one (Chaewon) wouldn't manage to shout loudly enough; the rest (Oonagh, Hana, Cassandra, Laasya, and Avery) would easily be heard not only on the pitch but also from around the rest of the stands.

"And as Norwood and Nevara take to the skies, the rest of the benches erupt in boos and cheers! Goodness, these younger folks are bound to have excellent lungs after this match."

The Quaffle

As if they had heard the commentator's whispers, most of the Chasers decided to not Chase this round. Rafal seemed to pause in midair, as if unsure what to do, while fresh-off-the-bench Isabeau and her captain Charlotte both dove for the Quaffle instead. Luckily, no one on Gryffindor's side was guarding the scarlet and gold hoops, and the announcer hollered as the pair of young women sunk one, two, three, four, five goals. "Oh! Oh! And that's forty points from the young Nevara in her very first game, while Winfield sinks another ten before going back to fruitlessly guard her own hoops. Slytherin is now up by ninety points!"

The Snitch

The commentator cocked her head to the side. "Looks like Shaw's given up on the Snitch, and Roux is just... flying after it? Nothing important to note about the most important ball in the game, I suppose!"

The Bludgers

Gryffindor's Beaters were certainly a sight to behold, taking down four of their opponents with just a single swing each. The announcer was essentially hopping out of her seat and screaming, her voice echoing throughout the stadium. "Oh my Merlin!!! Zhang's hit on Vranekova ricochets off and smacks Norwood straight in the face - even he didn't deserve that! And Smith isn't one to be shown up easily, taking out Nevara! I think Deveraux might've been flying too close to her without paying attention, because they're both out for the count. That is four snakes down with only two Bludgers. Can someone see if we have any professional scouts in the audience? I think this might be a performance of a lifetime!"

Was it the loss of four teammates that caused Percival to freeze in midair? Or was he distracted, thinking about something else (like his impending graduation)? Either way, he wouldn't lift a bat in revenge. "Lear's translucent grandbabies, Rainwood! What are you doing?" But since he wasn't around to hit the Bludger, it instead would randomly target Charlotte, the snakes' Keeper. "Oh! And Winfield dodges that rogue Bludger, probably much to her relief. Not sure the Slytherin team could handle another loss today."

Little did they know what was yet to come...

KOB Fouls

Fresh off his penalty lap from being a dirty cheater in the first round (when will he learn), Harlan recruited Frederick and Rosaline to his evil plan of perfectly Parkin's Pincer-ing Percival (try to say that five times fast). Almost as if Percival was zoned out and didn't have any chance to evade, he was instantly pinned in by two younger lion players and smacked directly off his broom by taking a Harlan to the chest. This missed the announcer's view, and by the time she looked, all she saw was three Gryffindors watching a Slytherin seventh-year fall to the ground for the final time. "Not sure what happened there, but Rainwood's off his broom, with no one to save him..." And thus would end the reign of one of Hogwarts' most terrifying Beaters.

On the other hand, she would spot some Seeker-on-Seeker violence as Aodhan blatched Violeta clean off her broom. "Hey! Shaw, when I suggested you two spend some time together, that is not what I meant. Penalty lap! And with Roux out, we'll have our third Slytherin second-string take the field in the form of Lee. It's really raining Slytherins today, innit? No one warned me about that in the forecast..."

Outcome

• Oonagh and Hana boo Percival, giving him -2 for the round.
• Cassandra boos Harlan, but Laasya and Avery cheer him, giving him +1 for the round.
• Chaewon fails to cheer Violeta.
• Charlotte grabs the Quaffle once and scores on empty hoops.
• Isabeau grabs the Quaffle 4x and scores on empty hoops.
• Pax bludgers Milica and ricochets to Silas. Ethan bludgers Isabeau and ricochets to Rafal. All four Slytherins are KOB and since Milica was on save no one can be saved.
• Charlotte dodges a rogue Bludger.
• Harlan, with help from Rosaline and Frederick, successfully auto-hits a Pincer against Percival, who is KOB and cannot be saved.
• Aodhan successfully blatches Violeta, who is KOB and cannot be saved, but he is seen and must take a penalty lap.

Taking a quick breath in to steady themselves, Pax would catch Ethan's gaze and nod: the plan of action being to attack. And attack with full force they would do. A nicely lined up shot would take out Milica on save duty, and then ping to the defending Silas and also knock him out. Ethan would mirror their shot, taking out the other Slytherin chasers as the others would knock both Percival and Violeta from their brooms. They were lucky it had gone pretty much according to plan with no complications, and Pax was reminded why they loved this game so much. All their hard work over the years was finally becoming worth it.

Avery cheered as loud as her lungs would allow her. Harlan had to hear her. She had to give him that extra boost needed to finish off the competition. Her eyes widened in surprise as their well crafted strategy fell into place. It was bizarre watching the Slytherins falling from the sky like drops of rain falling from clouds. She had never seen so many players from an opposing team fall in one round. Well, there was always a first time for everything.
