With Spring now upon the Scottish Highlands, it was time to put forward another meeting of LUMOS! Camera Club, Hogwarts's school club for wizarding photography. Simon decided that this meeting would be inspired by the coming Spring Ball and its Alice in Wonderland theme.
His flyers that were posted around school to attract hopeful participants told of a curious tea gathering and it was his hopes that he set up the space within the grounds just on the edge of the trees and Great Lake to feel as if guests stumbled upon something magical (more so than the normal around Hogwarts) rather than attending a structured event.
Set out where tables with cameras that were lent out to him for use if one wanted to borrow them or test out a new camera. He would be available to help in any way he could.
Other tables had stacked teacups with a teapot that poured endlessly and flowers that floated, glowed, and slowly turned and one couldn't forget splashes of toadstood elements - not when you're doing this theme! Ribbons hung from the nearby trees and swated in the breeze.
There were refreshments, as every good outdoor picnicy sort of club meeting should have. There was herbal, black, and floral teas as well as various fruit juices and lemonades. For snacks, one could enjoy some small easy-to-grab desserts like mini cakes and fresh fruit.
The activity for this particular meeting, for those that wished to join in, would be to go over to glass jar located on one of the tables and participate in the "Random Prompt Draw" where they would take a slip of paper and take a photo determined by what was said upon their slip. This kept even the activity quite playful and whimsical due to its unpredictable nature.
Written on each slip were words such as: "warm, something is off, too small, too big, from below, from above, portrait without a face, through something, in motion, too pretty to eat, calm, anticipation, one color only, constrasting colors, something is watching, a frame within a frame," and so on.
As his fellow classmates found their way to the Grounds that late Saturday afternoon, Simon decided to deliver an opening statement. "Hi everyone!" he began with a warm smile, "I'm really glad you came. I'm Simon Kincaid and this is the LUMOS! Camera Club! This is meant to be a relaxed space, no experience needed, no pressure at all. Grab some tea, grab a snack, and grab a camera to explore a bit. If you feel like taking photos, go for it. It's really about noticing the small, interesting moments and enjoying life. I'm here if you should have any questions or want assistance, and there's a little photo challenge if you want to participate over on the table to my right."
Simon smiled and the meeting began. Some mingled. Some had snacks and refreshments. Some went right for the cameras or pulled out there own.
When the meeting would wrap up, after any interactions occured, he would give closing remarks. "Thank you all for coming and spending time here this afternoon. I hope you found a few things worth noticing, a few moments worth capturing, and maybe something that made you look at things a little differently. I'd love to see you all again soon and check the bilboards for the next meeting."

It was a bright and beautiful Saturday. The birds chirped outside as the sun shone in its warmth and loveliness. Denise walked around the castle, just enjoying being by herself and the castle's silence. Breathing in, she noticed a flyer in the corner and peeked in, curious.
At this point, Denise is in a ridiculous number of clubs, a bit too many, but maybe another one doesn't hurt. She stared at the flyer, looking at the bold title, "LUMOS! Camera Club" and, of course, a tea gathering. Denise had to wonder what was up with most club meetings offering tea, but in Great Britain, of course, there is no such thing as too much tea.
Denise walked in, in the space within the grounds just on the edge of the trees and the dark and beautiful Great Lake, shining in mystery and wonder. She looked around, seeing cameras, pouring teapots in teacups, and floating flowers, feeling overwhelmed and a bit nervous, naturally so.
Denise never liked tea. Controversial, and her grandmother didn't allow her to drink tea since she is only twelve years old and considered it too much caffeine for her age. For refreshments, she usually stuck to orange or apple juice; well, pumpkin juice is the correct wizarding drink, but she detested the taste.
Denise watched as students poured in and sat down. A boy, much older than she was, clearly delivered an opening speech, whose name she later learned was Simon Kincaid. Her ears perked up when she heard of a little photo challenge, and she was interested.
Denise got up slowly after the opening speech and looked at the assortment of refreshments, ultimately grabbing a mini cake and a lemonade. She sipped the lemonade slowly, which was very delicious, and the sweet and moist cake.
She then walked towards the camera tables, with many cameras available. Denise knew how to use a traditional camera, of course, but she was still nervous, picking up the heavy and bulky camera slowly. Placing the camera's straps around her neck carefully, she then went over to the main activity, a glass jar where they would take a photo based on what was in that slip.
Denise walked for her turn and then dug through, slowly and carefully, and picked up a slip. Squinting in the bright sun, she read, "too pretty to eat..."
She walked over slowly to the refreshments, wondering what to photograph. In deep thought, she looked at the tea table, seeing the beautiful teacup glistening in the sunlight. For the first time, Denise slipped tea.
Eugh, it tasted bitter, not horrible, but bitter in a way she didn't like it. Setting it down slowly, she added a brown sugar cube and stirred it in, watching the brown crystals dissolve slowly in union, disappearing like the twinkling stars at midnight.
Stylistically, she added two brown sugar cubes on the tea plate and, with one hand, held a spoon upwards, and then, with the other hand, positioned it carefully. Careful... careful... She positioned the camera so her hand, holding the spoon in place, would be out of sight and clicked a picture.
But it was on her camera, and Denise wanted it to be printed out for her own reference. She walked to Simon slowly and nervously, asking, "Hello, my name is Denise Yarbrough, and I'm new to wizarding photography... Here's my photograph for the challenge..." She showed.
Click! Curious, she looked at her picture, nervous and somewhat excited. She looked in amazement as the spoon moved by itself, watching the photograph have a life of its own, like hers and everyone else's.
Denise knew that wizarding photos were different, with moving photographs, and smiled. She did it, and it looked beautiful.
"By the way, how do you print out or develop the photograph? I like to keep it for reference..." she inquired.

Hi Simon! First time interacting with you so feel free to interact with me. I also tagged everyone else in the club so if you are interested in making a new friend, you can interact with me as well.I was unsure on who's in the club since there was just a "@" and some repeats so if this annoys you, I'm sorry for the false pings (for the people in ?, I don't really know if you are in the club because you signed up but wasn't in the official roster except Kim Sato).

"We can set up something in the Room of Requirement for development if you'd like," Simon offered kindly. "It involves needing to control light just the same as with muggle photography."
He had noticed the other Hufflepuff amongst the others at the meeting and appreciated how she seemed to be taking it all in. She obviously had an interest in wizarding photography or a natural talent - perhaps both. Her photography she had captured only demonstrated the later for him. "It's quite a nice photography," he complimented, "great lighting."
"Some of the best lighting is in the Hufflepuff Common Room in the early morning hours," he shared a tip. "The way the sun is rising, the beams filter through the windows just perfectly for a nice golden glow." He had seen her around enough at mealtimes sitting at the Hufflepuff table and in the Common Room to know she was of his house but it was now nice to put a name with the face. Back when he was a prefect, he tried to know all the Hufflepuffs by name but that sort of fell when he began studying for his OWLs and now NEWTs.
"We're in our last few months - almost made it to summer holiday," he smiled. "What are your thoughts of Hufflepuff?" He didn't meant to move it away from photography and certainly wouldn't mind if she brought the conversation back to it, but Simon enjoyed meeting new people at Hogwarts - especially his fellow housemates.
All houses certainly had their good attributes but Simon fully believed that Hufflepuff had to be the best house to be sorted into at Hogwarts.
