OOC Potions Q&A

This might be a strange question, but I have been at a loss on how exactly students are supposed to measure out "measures". Light searching has led me nowhere, and I have been getting by with only mentioning them as vague actions. I know in reality it probably is measure with spoons, or teaspoons or tablespoons, but I just want to make sure...

Thank you!

Hi, Ellaine!

If I'm correct, I believe the main method of measurement is through the copper scales. Students would weigh the ingredients on the scale to determine whether it is the right amount. There may be other methods of measurement used, but this is the one I am the most sure about.

Staff correct me if I'm wrong!

@Ellaine Weatherby & @Skylar Blue

Skylar is right. "Measure" is treated as a potion-brewing unit here. We determine it with the Brass Scale. So when the recipe said to "put one measure of [ingredient] into the cauldron", we will measure this ingredient in a Brass Scale first before putting it into the cauldron.

Thank you for the explanations! I was wondering what the copper scales were to be used for... That makes sense.

Hello! For Y1, L5, does the question about whether one is able to cast spells silently while under the influence of the Muffling Draught include or exclude non-verbal spells?

Hey! If you go to your top right corner and click on your profile picture, your report card should appear. If you click on that, you can see the homeworks available to you. You can then select one and do it!
