As Vincent attempted to make small talk with Wyatt and held out his hand to formally complete their introduction, he noticed a slight change in the other boy’s posture. The boy seemed to relax a little, as if the tension – or at least some of it anyway – started to fade. Perhaps Vincent’s initial assumptions were correct, perhaps the boy indeed wasn’t too comfortable moving around complete strangers, especially when one of those strangers tried to start a conversation with him. That would also explain the sudden exclamation Vincent overheard when he stood next to him near the dance floor, which was most likely not intended for anyone to hear. He still wondered what the reason was for the boy’s hesitance and restraint, but again he realized it was none of his business and certainly ill-advised to bring it up. “Enough with that.” Vincent corrected himself in his thoughts. “Just talk to him.”

The boy took Vincent’s outstretched hand and shook it, looking him straight in the eye. Though his facial expression remained neutral, so Vincent could only guess at how Wyatt exactly felt about this conversation, seeing that something in his posture seemed to have changed seemed a sure indication he at least wasn’t too opposed to it. Vincent felt relieved. The answer to his question concerning the house the boy was sorted into came fast and with a healthy dose of pride. Wyatt was a Slytherin and obviously proud of it. And why shouldn’t he? Although the knowledge of the different characteristics and particularities of the specific houses and their individual members Vincent had gathered up until now hardly exceeded the basic level, making it hardly a well-founded opinion, the boy being a Slytherin seemed somehow fitting. Vincent wasn’t sure what it was that made him see it as fitting, but for some reason it just felt right.

“Really? I’m a Ravenclaw.” Vincent said, replying to Wyatt’s question. As he took a second to think about how to follow up on this, he subconsciously perceived a lot of restless movement going on between one of the tables next to him and the dance floor. Apparently something was going on, something that clearly upset some people, but Vincent refused to check it out and instead decided to ignore it. As long as whatever it was didn’t bother him, he wasn’t really interested. He focused on his reply. “I have no idea how or why actually. I had never considered myself Ravenclaw material. But then again, I had never considered myself fit for any of the other houses either.” He burst out laughing as he continued. “Come to think of it, I in fact had never considered myself a wizard to begin with. Yet here I am. Did you always consider yourself a wizard?” Vincent put his now empty chalice on the table and glanced at the boy standing in front of him. “By the way, seeing as you deliberately walked to this table I assume you wanted to get something to drink.” He gestured at the wide variety of filled chalices and bottles on the table. “Any particular kind you prefer?”

“Really? I’m a Ravenclaw.”
I guessed it. The tall boy did seem wise beyond his years. He talked like an adult, not an 11-year old.

“I have no idea how or why actually. I had never considered myself Ravenclaw material. But then again, I had never considered myself fit for any of the other houses either.” Vincent burst out laughing, and it caught Wyatt off guard, but he didn’t show it. He managed a small smile to show he was actually present in the conversation.

“Come to think of it, I in fact had never considered myself a wizard to begin with. Yet here I am. Did you always consider yourself a wizard?”
The boy must be muggle-born or maybe a half-blood. Finally something Wyatt could relate to. He hadn’t known anything about wizards and witches besides stories in muggle books. He’d never tried to do any magic because it was simply ridiculous. Wyatt thought back on his first instance of magic. He didn’t like that memory much. It felt good at the time- really good- but looking back, he found it was almost embarrassing losing control of his emotions like that. He decided to share the story anyway, leaving out some details that would reveal too much of his personal history- you can’t trust anyone too soon.

“By the way, seeing as you deliberately walked to this table I assume you wanted to get something to drink.” Vincent gestured towards the table riddled with bottles. “Any particular kind you prefer?”
“Water is fine." At least he could stick to one part of the plan. If he had to look someone in the eye, at least he'll have a drink of water. "I never even thought I was anything close to a wizard. My mother is a witch, my father is a muggle.” Wyatt hesitated on the 'is' after father. He assumed his father was alive, though he didn’t care much for his well-being. He didn’t want to be associated with such a horrible man. He felt ashamed every day that he’d taken on his father’s name as his middle name. Vincent didn’t know about his father, though- and hopefully never would- so Wyatt decided 'is' was fine for now.
“I didn’t know I was a wizard until I accidentally gave my father a concussion. A year later and now I’m here.” Wyatt shrugged, underneath his emotionless expression hoping Vincent wouldn’t think he was a monster for hurting his father. “Do you remember the first time you used magic?”

Gem truly had no full idea how he'd made it around here, but he felt like it'd be a type of intrusion coming to an event about a day after he'd come back from Sheffield. So much family drama, it made his head hurt and his stomach flip flop - he'd missed so much, he knew that much, all he'd been looking forward to was seeing his friends again... had they even remembered him?

He'd heard about the ball though whispers in the boy's washroom, and since he felt it right to add himself into the equation to try and connect with his peers again, he'd give this a shot. He dressed as nicely as he could with what he had, though that ended up only being a turtleneck and a pair of black pants - seemed more like casual wear than anything, but his newly long hair just about covered that issue - he doubted very many people would be looking in his general direction anyhow.

When he made it, there were quite a few people, all already mingling. He'd silently wished he brought a friend along - did he even have any left? - but he didn't, so he'd have to live with that... maybe he shouldn't have come around, and for a moment, he considered just turning around and making an exit before anyone saw him standing around, staring them down like it was no one's business. For a second, he'd almost hoped that he knew none of these people, it'd make it all so much easier than to explain himself... but it was a boarding school, someone was bound to recognize him anyhow, so maybe... maybe it wouldn't be so difficult to just reach out a bit, maybe he'd make a new friend.

With a sharp exhale out his nose, he edged himself into the crowd, his fingers itching in his pockets, smiling at anyone who might've accidentally made eye contact with. He just couldn't quit the nervousness, it made his chest feel so heavy, he felt inadequate - and the drama with Rafael and Jack... he really had left at the worst possible time, didn't he? He didn't know where he stood with anyone, truthfully, and he wouldn't blame them if they turned a blind eye if they saw him - he felt pathetic, and probably looked as such, too.

Well, now would be the right time to get a drink, wouldn't it? Right, where was the table at, what was a ball without something to drink?

What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.

Ana heard Rafa getting yelled at about flowers. He really was going to need to explain what on earth was going on, but for the moment, she was keeping an eye on them. There was certainly a chance that they were harmless, but seeing as they had her blood on them now, she was going to be a bit protective of them. Call her crazy, but she wasn't actually a fan of getting herself cursed. Sure, she did dangerous things like jumping off the owlery or setting things on fire, but those were cool dangerous things. Blood curses were creepier and often less cool than other ways of dying. She cringed a bit since she would feel mildly guilty if she had just gotten involved in Rafa stealing some poor girl's flowers. His tone and eyes had said otherwise though, so she didn't make any move to return them yet.

She didn't have too much time to reflect on the matter though since, at that moment, she and Dale were again joined by a familiar face. Astrea, who Ana had noticed early. Hopefully, her joining them was a sign that the Slytherin bore no ill will for Ana's Flipendo. Despite the fact that she had been Aurelia's ally, Ana was quite intrigued by her. There was something just unsettling(her terrible presences about her that Ana had noticed at the SWAG game. A sane person would have likely steered clear of her, but who had ever called Ana a sane person?

"Astrea, lovely to see you. Please join us," Ana said politely. The other girl was very similar to the people that Ana had grown up around, so Ana was reasonably confident she knew how to speak to her. She noted a slit in the lovely pink dress of the other aristocrat and idly noted that it would be an excellent place to conceal a dagger or wand or even both like Ana herself had. She rather wondered if Astrea had a knife. Ana couldn't rule it out, since, she herself hardly seemed like the type to bring weapons to a party, and yet she had. That wasn't exactly a question she could ask though. She was about to speak when she caught sight of a boy. She'd never met him before and yet she knew exactly who he was. How could she not after everything Rafa had said about him?

If Astrea or Dale said anything, Ana completely missed it as she stared at the boy. She inhaled, trying to cool the rage she felt building. She still hadn't completely processed everything that had just happened with Scott and Chad. She also getting over the loss of a friend who she'd had feelings for. Despite the fact that their friendship ending was entirely her fault, it still stung. Now, she could take heartbreak and bad treatment. She didn't need anyone to stand up for her, despite what Rafa's actions toward Dale might suggest. But she would not stand for someone doing to Rafa what Gem had. Rafa hadn't told her all the details, but what she knew for a fact was that Gem had broken Rafa's heart. Her jaw tightened and she could hear her heartbeat.

Smiling at Dale and Astrea, she stood. "Would you two excuse me for a moment? Oh, and Dale, keep an eye on these, love," she said brightly. She felt bad for abandoning the table so shortly after Astrea had joined them, but she really was going to come right back once she was done.

She approached the Ravenclaw. "Excuse me, Gem Stuart?" she asked despite knowing in her gut that this was the one and only. She spoke brightly as though she was there to do anything other than yell at him for hurting her friend. Now, she intended to yell at him or something, but when their eyes met, she was suddenly even angrier. Who did what this git had done to Rafa? Who did that to someone?!?

Before she had time to process her thoughts, her arm began to move. Her right fist met the boy's face just as the girl realized that her hands weren't clasped together anymore. Now, Anastasia Beckett was not a physically strong person. She was only 5 feet tall and fairly slim. However, as she hit the boy, she knew it was a perfect punch. Every pound of her body weight was behind it, and she was rather proud of it. Even though she was wearing absurdly high heels, a pastry of a dress, and was running on no caffeine, she knew for a fact that punch was spectacularly painful.

She exhaled softly as though she hadn't just attacked someone and met the boy's eyes again. She seriously hoped that this was, in fact, the infamous Gem Stuart. Otherwise this was about to be very awkward.

Maybe he was just hearing it in his head, but he could've sworn he heard his name. It was bustling, he didn't figure that someone had been talking about him behind his back - was he a topic of discussion now? He hadn't quite found the drinks yet, but it wasn't like he had time to before -

Ah. A girl who looked angry, that was never a good sign from his experience at this school. He felt his head snap to the side where her fist had landed, and on the floor he was. He didn't feel it at first, but a hand came up to cover his cheek quickly - that was going to leave such an ugly mark. He didn't figure getting punched in the face within ten minutes of a party was a good sign, so maybe he shouldn't have come at all, it'd suit him well, he figured that much.

"Uh..." He was properly rendered speechless, which was often difficult due to the fact he never knew how to shut up. "Ow, fook..." He sniffed, slowly bringing himself up with his other arm, his nose scrunched up. Should he have been scared about getting kicked, next? Who even was this girl?

"Ehm... well, I can say you're e' first one ta bid me a warm welcome," He said, avoiding eye contact with her. "I guess it would make more sense if I knew who ya were." He wasn't even sure if that was in his place, asking for an introduction like she hadn't just clocked him right in the cheek.

First day back at school, he wondered how the rest of the year was bound to finish.

The Quidditch pitch looked even better up close. Ivy looked around in amazement at how elaborately decorated it was - a group of students did this? It must have taken a long time. She recognized a couple of people amongst the crowd, notably, Anastasia Beckett, her doppelganger. The two girls had a startling resemblance, bar the eye colour and height difference. Ivy sent a merry wave and a smile her way.

"That's Ana," she explained with a sideways glance to Zyk. More likely than not, he would be startled by the identicality. "It's a long, complicated story." She would explain it another time. Today, she just wanted to have some fun. "I'll tell you later."

The two passed someone else, someone whom Ivy would rather not see. Thomas Lestrange. A shiver ran down the Gryffindor's spine at the sight of him. Not only was the family feud between him and her family gloomy enough, but he had also been present the night she'd encountered the hag. It had been one of the most terrifying moments of her life, and ever since then, she'd avoided him like the plague. Bad luck seemed to follow him around, and her footsteps slowed for only a moment as she debated whether to say something or not. Better not, the girl decided, lest he makes any more trouble for me. Besides, he was probably already preoccupied...

"Let's go," Ivy mumbled to Zykeal, determinedly putting all thoughts of Thomas behind her as she walked away. You're here to have fun. She smiled brightly at Zyk. "You wanna dance?" She hoped he had brought his best game. Ballroom dancing was one of her stronger suits, and it would be hard to keep up with her.

Monsters, monsters, monsters. There would not be a monster hunter without the monsters. That was not all, the novice monster hunter had recently signed up for the martial arts club. She was tasked to police over the event. Not officially, but she would definitely be capable of doing with her skill. Chaos was about to start, Aurelia had been to too many balls not to doubt an impending disaster. She kept a watchful eye as she sipped on her drink.

Minutes passed, Aurelia had since long found a seat around the white-clothed table. The heels were a bad idea but still held its practicality as a weapon if she should need another in hand --- or rather, on foot. Nothing seemed to be escalating, except for the small skirmish at the back where punches -- fruit punches -- were thrown. Patience Aurelia had and it had paid of. A girl in an oversized pink dress was storming her way towards a dark haired boy. Anastasia Beckett was furious, for whatever reason, Aurelia would find out soon. Aurelia rose from her seat, watching intently. A real punch was thrown.

An intervention was required and so, Aurelia made her way through the crows and towards her angry club member and boy. "Anastasia Beckett, leave him alone. I am not allowing you to ruin someone else's time at the ball." Her tone was assertive and authoritative a reminiscence of her days as Gryffindor prefect. In fact, she could not believe that someone like Anastasia held the same title back in the day. "I do not care whatever personal issues you have with him, I advise that you scurry back to your darling Rafael. "

Anastasia had known that was a fantastic punch, however, she hadn't expected the Ravenclaw to be on the ground. Frankly, she felt that said more about him than it did her, seeing as one of them was an inch taller and not in heels and a ballgown. In any event, he was sprawled on the ground. Adrenaline coursed through the Gryffindor's body and she swallowed. As she inhaled and exhaled in an attempt to calm down and the adrenaline wore off, she realized that her punching hand was rather sore. She rubbed it with her other hand, noticing it was rather red, but seemed fine other than that.

She shook her head at him in disgust. "Shame on you, you're utterly pathetic. God, you do what you did to Rafa and then act like a victim. Utterly pathetic," she spat, her voice cold as she continued to try to calm herself down. As angry as she was about what he had done to Rafa, she knew that wasn't the only reason she had punched the boy, and that he wasn't the person who had caused the brunt of her anger, so she would like to avoid punching him again for the moment.

Anastasia inhaled and tried to convince herself to go when the most irritating person alive approached. Ana scoffed and rolled her eyes at Aurelia. Did she not remember what had happened last time she had tried to tell Ana was to do? "Oh, mind your own bloody business for once, Aurelia," Ana laughed, her tone disdainful. Aurelia had no authority over her, and Ana refused to let the little tart pretend otherwise. Scurry back to Rafael? What on Earth was that supposed to mean? "Love, just because you have no friends doesn't mean you need to be jealous of those of us who do. As for ruining someone else's time at the ball, both you and our friend on the ground are ruining mine. Also, just so you know, generally, when I'm pretending to be an uppity nosy bitch, I don't pull my chin in like that. It makes you look like a turtle."

With that, Ana turned on her heel and made yet another dramatic exit. She would have to actually speak to the Ravenclaw later when Aurelia wasn't being a jealous nosy whiner. She arrived back at her table and sat back down. "Ever so sorry about that," she said brightly as though she hadn't just punched someone to the ground and wasn't still trembling with rage.

Gem furrowed his brows, his hand staying on his jaw, rubbing it painfully. It was tempting, almost, to pull his wand out and threaten her or something of that ilk, but it wasn't in his nature to do so. As a result, he turned his head and pretended like he knew what she was saying - who even was this git? Seemed like a real wench to him, going up to random people and knocking their teeth in without much a reason. He almost flashed her the bird, but because of the scene they were causing, he thought that maybe that wasn't in his very best interest.

"Ehm... right," He mumbled, "what I did to Rafa..." Rafa, shite, saying his name out loud hurt a bit more than getting a knuckle sandwich, but he figured he deserved that, too. He almost stood to ask if he was here, though, he wouldn't blame much of anyone if the Gryffindor got a good punch or two in after everything that had happened between the two of them, too. "Ugh."

"Fhanks for steppin' in, I 'ppreciate it." He forced a tight-lipped smile, bringing himself up from the ground - the pants were his favorites, he'd be damned if he were getting grass stains all over them (not that they'd be seen, since they were black). "Sorreh, didn't think my presence would've caused a scene. Joost my luck, aye?" He raised his eyebrows, turning around to get himself something to drink, just like he'd originally intended. "Who... even is that, do you know?" He squinted a bit, sipping the water he had poured himself in a few quick gulps.

Amara debated back and forth all day on wheater or not she would attend the Blossom ball until right before she decided to go. She quickly threw on a dress and curled her hair before walking out to the Quidditch Pitch. She looked around, hoping to find a familiar face but when she could not, Amara just grabbed a cup of punch and went to a table to sit down. She chose the only empty table and fidgeted around to the beat of the music. She enjoyed looking at all of the multicolored dresses and different ways people choose to dress. She sipped on her punch while partially hoping and partially waiting for someone to come up and talk with her so she did not have to start a conversation. She hummed along with the music after she decided that even if no social interaction comes out of the dance, at least the music was good. Then, even though its a social faux pas, Amara took out her book and started to read. After some time, Amara slammed her book shut and rolled her eyes, it was just too loud. Amara stood up and started to walk out but something/someone stopped her.
