Puzzled and Trapped
In the corridor, some sound, or smell beckons the students forward, inviting them on an adventure, one that they won't forget. In the room, there is a box right in the middle. The bold or the curious do their best to avoid the temptation, but who truly would be able to avoid a mysteriously colorful box in the middle of a rather normal looking room? That does not seem dangerous, and instead seems like it would be a rather nice gift for whoever opens it.
But once someone does, instead darkness will flow from the box, covering every facet of the room, and ensuring the students are effectively blinded. Sounds will beckon from the darkness, but those who are brave enough to wander from their position near the box will find themselves being hit by random objects moving on their own. What feels like hours later but is really minutes later, the darkness disappears, candles on the wall lighting simultaneously and flickering in a mysterious wind.
The transformed chamber is full of dust circling in the air, occasionally being stirred around by movement or a mysterious wind. The stone walls are old and imprecisely carved, pieces of the stone sticking out. The magic that formed the room did not worry about making it perfect. Dim candlelight flickers, casting shadows on the walls, but not providing enough light to truly be able to see everything with the room at a glance. Furniture covered with dust clothes is placed randomly throughout the room. Age and various creatures that found themselves stuck in the room for a time having partially destroyed the fabric. The structure of the furniture themselves remain untouched by anything except for dust.
In a corner, there are faint glimmers in the candlelight. A couple of metal pieces slotted together form a ship, its mast caught in the space between two stones. A child’s toy left abandoned, perhaps based on the boats that ferried the first years across the Great Lake on their arrival at Hogwarts. Several other seemingly random metal pieces are scattered around the room, perhaps having at one time forming a small group of boats, but carelessly discarded, and left wherever they were tossed.
There are several paintings hung in no particular order, their occupants sleeping or making grim faces at the students that arrived unexpectedly. They would offer no hints, instead jeering or mutely staring at occupants, making them feel watched and judged as clues are searched for. More are stacked against the wall, weary of only seeing the back of the portrait in front of them. There are no plaques to denote who the occupants once were, though obviously at one time, they must have been important or loved enough to have been hung somewhere in the school.

Escape Room? Hana's favourite thing to do in the holidays, to show off her 'intelligence' and finding another excuse to call her brother dumb. So when she heard that the Gryffindors are doing one of those things, she signed up immediately and wanting to prove that she's really good at it. Days after Days, she finally received an owl about it, she got assigned into a group of four, which she knew none of them but she knows that after this, they will be good friends... or foes.
Finally, the day of the escape room game has arrived. After Hana counted down every single second till the day. And so, she arrived to the corridor wearing a black velvet dress that made her look serious, cuz she once said and I quote, "To show that you are powerful or smart or whatever, you should first present yourself like that with appropriate clothes" , which is totally useless, just to let you all know.
She walked slowly through the corridor and saw different random things. "I'm not scared, you are, wait, oh screw it, there's no one here." She muttered to herself as if it will calm herself down. As she walked, something caught her eyes - The metal pieces that form a ship, but there's a mast caught in two stones. Why is it between two stones? What if I try to move the stones away? Or am I just being too observant and think too much? She glanced sideways, to check if anyone's looking, even though she knew she's the only one, then tiptoed, very useless and have no idea why the heck she did that, to the front of the pieces. And then, she crouched down, examining the pieces like she's an 'expert' on ships but she has not read a single book about ships or sailers or whatever in her whole life, but at least she tried, trying to base off from the first time she took a boat or a ship which happened on the first day of Hogwarts.

Biting her lip slightly she thinks of her decision. It was either incredibly stupid or will be fun. Bree has either unfortunately or fortunately signed up for an escape room. Something she has never done before but always heard of it. Her cousin said that she's been to plenty of escape rooms. She said that she was able to get out of most of them by trying. Only two of them she and her group was taken out over one of the members having a panic attack about being trapped.
Walking carefully to where its being held, her heels click clack against the floor announcing her presence. Walking in, she smooths out her dress. Knowing it may seem a bit ridiculous to others, Bree has kept up with her mothers way of dressing even after not being required to dress this way. Forever and always, she would dress up as if going somewhere fancy. For all occasions, except her morning runs. The dress she's wearing now was one her mother sent her, not one that was handmade this time. It was a green dress with long sleeved and had silver trimmings lining the hems. Then with matching silver thread, unique designs were decorated across her boding. Her dress ending slightly passes her knees, covering a tiny bit of her heeled boots.
Running a hand through her hair, she looks around. For a moment, she's convinced that she is alone. Until she spotted a small black figure crouching down in front of an object that distinctly looks like a ship. Although she couldn't exactly tell since the other girl was blocking most of it. Looking around once more, she spots a small box in the middle of the room. Her curiosity tugs her attention towards it. For a moment, she's tempted to go over to it and open it. Although some gut instinct went against. Instead, the Gryffindor headed over to the crouched figure.
Getting closer, she notes that it's a girl in a black velvet dress. Tapping the girl softly on the shoulder, she offers a shy smile. "Found anything helpful down there?" Bree sits down next to the girl, tucking her legs under her and smooths out her dress to avoid wrinkles. Studying the figure, Bree sees that it was indeed a ship. But the ship was shoved in between two stones. "Have you tried to move the ship out of the two stones?"
Without waiting for an answer, Bree reaches over and grabs the ship. Pulling it she attempts to take the ship out, praying for success.

Not regreting her desicion, Alex entered the Escape Room that she signed up few week's before. Snapped her fingers, which were hidden by her sweatshirt's sleeve. She was wearing a bordeaux tracksuit, paired with comfortable sport shoes. A small backpack could be spotted hanging on her arm. Just a Muggle notebook and a quill, as well as some water. In her young mind, a Escape Room could require anything, physical or intelectual. This thought had nothing to do with his mind being young, thought. It was perfectly decent and reasonable, althought she understood who defended that people might be a bit more presentable. Ignoring her clothing, she examined the place.
At least two girls stood curiously in the place. The place that rather had a old dusty vibe than a new one, which made Alex's excitement grow even highter. The first thing that caught her attention were some painting spread randomly alongside the room's walls. They kept the pretended atmosphere still, with their cold, but quite funny stare. Tried doing some basic noises, like clicking her tongue or snapping her fingers louder to somewhat annoy them, but nothing happened. Her "vast wisdom" coudn't think of some way to persuade the painting at that moment, so she left that for later.
What were the other girls doing at the moment? Why do they looked that intrigued? After Alex came closer to them, she noticed two rocks, blocking a couple of metal pieces. That instantly remembered her of a game that her father teached her when she was five. Rock, paper, scissors. There was rock, some metal might be a clue for scissors and there was no paper. Where was some paper? And if she found some, what would she do with it? After sharing her idea with the other girls, she waited for a reply. Three- or more- minds worked better than one. And about the paper, she remembered of the notebook in her backpack.

Escape Rooms and riddles were not her usual hobbies. Sure, the satisfactory adrenaline rush from doing one correctly was good enough, but not enough for the young trickster. Even so, she found herself in the middle of said occasion and contemplating how exactly she ended up there.
Going through an inspection on her arrival here would only cost her more time, which could be used effectively if she didn't want to gawk around here. She was faced with a puzzle, and only by solving it could she move on. There were currently pieces of scattered remains of ships littered around, with countless eyes from portraits which had no thought of helping.
The only thing that caught her eyes were the ships, and she realised her companions also thought the same. Walking cautiously, she approached it's remains. She noticed another girl, somewhat around her age, attempting to pull it from the clutches of some rocks. If they had to do something, they might as well take it out before a closer inspection. "Need some help over there?" With a united mind, they would eventually get through it much faster. She was accustomed to doing most tasks in solitude, but with the prospect of different opinions would help them with this puzzle significantly. And when it would be pulled out, they could pierce the last piece to the puzzle.

The first in the room, Hana Suzuki was the first to enter, dressed in black. She quickly found the ships that seemed to be pieced together from pieces of metal. But what could they mean? What could they do? More exploration or determining their purpose would be needed.
Bree entered the room next, her dress a pop of color, the silver creating unique designs, drawing the eye. It would take only moments to spot the second student and make her way over. Pulling carefully, Bree struggles to pull the ship out, the metal not giving her much to work with. It was well and truly lodged in the wall. But there were others joining her, and there would be strength in numbers.
Being prepared was important, and it seemed Alex was determined to be the one prepared to help her teammates, even if it was simply writing something down. She took a different approach at first, trying to draw the paintings to reveal their secrets. But that was the thing about being stuck to a wall. All you could do was observe, and the students in the room were giving them the first interesting thing they would see in many years. They would do a lot to draw the entertainment out further. Since her first idea didn’t work, she moved towards the other girls. Perhaps she would have an idea what the metal was for.
Finally, the fourth of their group arrived, Estella. She would see Bree needing assistance and offer her help. She moved to help Bree pull on the ship. Together they were able to successfully maneuver it free from where it was trapped. But there was no dramatic moment where the wall or floor moves, and nothing was made obvious about what the actual ship’s purpose was. There was no water nearby either. The only thing that freeing the ship does is show that there are cutouts in the ship, strange ones that didn’t seem to necessarily be for slotting the two pieces together.
The flickering candlelight would beckon them closer, offering them more than just light. They would provide limited light, but still it was something. For those who remembered their lessons well, they might even be able to shed more light on the situation.

Hana turned around as she heard footsteps approaching her, she's not scared, just checking, of course. And when she realises those are her teammates, she let out a sigh of relief. "Mm. Hi, I am Hana Suzuki and I believe you are my teammates?. Hana looked closer at the ship fragment, strange ones, and they seem like they don't fit together. Then, Hana looked around. Candles. Lights. Shadows. What if we put the ship fragments under the candle light, maybe the shadow casted on the ground or the wall will give us clues? However, an object at the corner of her eye also caught her sight. An abandoned child toy. Why is it here, will there be clues, like a secret note, or sounds that comes from it? She really wanted to go and check so she looked at the crowd that's surrounding the ship fragments.
"Fragments, maybe if you put it under the candle light, the shadows will give us clue? And also to make it easier for us, do you mind me going to another part of this room and to find more clues? Like that? She pointed towards the direction of the abandoned child toy. She waited for their response for a second then walked towards the toy, as if it's pulling her into it. Hana took the toy to her hand, and started checking every single detail carefully.

There was a girl in particular that Alex recognised above all. It seemed like a coincidence, but the girl who started to talk was exactly that one. She hoped that it was a reply of what she said, but it wasn't, they probably didn't heard it."Hi, I am Hana Suzuki and I believe you are my teammates?" She felt disapoinged with herself, she forgot to introduce her to them. But as they didn't heard what she suggested, it was as if it was her first comments. "Oh, ummm hello! I am Alex Adams." Alex was ready to share her idea, when Hana's voice could be heard again "Fragments, maybe if you put it under the candle light, the shadows will give us clue? And also to make it easier for us, do you mind me going to another part of this room and to find more clues? Like that?"
She didn't thought much about it, just replied "Good idea, I am also intrigued with that you, actually. I kind of have experience with boys, as I um... Don't judge me but I still kind of... Kind of use them!" She started nevous, but them got the 'rythm'. "Yeah, and I have another idea. What about we think about the meaning of the metal and the rock. Maybe its related to the game 'Rock, Paper, Scissors'. This can seem strange, but I have some paper!"
Waiting for a reply, again, she went on the toy's direction and examined its appearence, which wasn't clear where she stood.

Hana was on the right path, the shadows and flickering light making her think. But she'd be distracted by the child's toy, determined to figure out what it was. She would get closer and notice the same metal from the ships, this time in a different configuration but still with the weirdly shaped crevices that seemed to be randomly placed along the sides. Magic might have formed it, the edges so smooth as to be unbelievable that they were made by muggle means.
Alex was working to come up with ideas, the metal and rock making her think of the rock, paper, scissors game. But that would lead them astray. The paper however might come in handy to help decipher a clue. But first they would have to find what they would need to decipher. They were getting there certainly.
A fellow student had managed to sneak their way into the room, using the shadows to hide from sight. The flickering lights added a certain mystique and the student smirked as they looked around. There was plenty for them to work with, especially giving the almost nightmarish look of the room. Looking to the floor, they saw a few of the metal pieces to the right. Taking them apart, the student hefted the pieces in their grip, looking between the two as if trying to decide which was the better option. Making their choice, they sent it flying towards the wall nearest Alex and Hana. Unfortunately their aim was slightly off and instead of the metal bouncing harmlessly in front of the pair, it caught Hana in the arm, causing a cut in her robes, and a decent-sized cut in her arm. It's trajectory then caused it to knock into Alex's knee, causing the joint to buckle on her. The student slunk to the left, keeping away from the candles that would give away their location.

As Hana looked at the shadow near the abandoned toy, she found something familiar - fragments of the ship, also with the weird cut out. A thought strikes through her head, what if we need to find all the fragments in this room, put it all together, and put it under the shadow, maybe it will give us a complete clue. So Hana went and was about to grab the fragments when - SLASH.
A metal piece shot through the air from somewhere in the shadows, slicing her robes and her arm, the wound was gross, blood dripping down and flesh split open. The girl who introduced herself as Alex got her knee knocked by the pieces, causing the joint to buckle. 'ow, that's inconvenient, just got a new set of robes, and why is my arm like that, it's like malfunctioning. Oh, Alex, right? Are you alright, feel free to just hold onto my shoulder to stand still." Meanwhile, she was trying to find her embroidered handkerchief in her robe pocket. "Ha, here you are, at least you're now a bit useful." She mumbled and pressing the smooth fabric onto her cut trying to stop the bleeding.
"Alex, would you mind trying to find more of these fragments perhaps it's like a puzzle, needing us to put all the pieces together to form a clue. And I'll just look around to find that thing who just attacked us, " She winces slightly and told Alex, and Hana now regretted not bringing her wand just to brag how great her escape room skills are, which is a stupid thing for her to do.
"Who are you? Show yourself, don't be such a coward!"She said loudly, walking around the room, trying to locate the mysterious, occasionally wincing at the cut on her arm.
