Tracing their origins back to the 15th century, the House of Petrovskikh started with Peter Petrovsky, son of Peter, a simple blacksmith located in the suburbs, continuing the tradition by taking his father’s forge. His craft was remarkable, and he was soon drafted to work in the royal forges, mass producing weapons for the Grand Duchy of Moscow for its wars against the Tatars. His son illustrating himself in won battles, the family gained a knighthood. Over the centuries and through various achievements, they rose themselves to higher positions, until finally a land and the title of count and countess was granted to what had become House Petrovskikh. Knowing their favour from the royalty relied heavily on the quality weaponry they produced, but knowing as well nobility cannot run forges themselves, they delegated the task to serfs, who grew more and more independent until the modern days forced the Petrovskikh to consider them not servants but equals, and thus they gained the name Kovalyov. The Patriarchs over the years ensured a tight control over this newborn family remained. Additionally, their tight links to vampires became more and more apparent to the wizarding society, until finally they claimed their legacy proudly. In a more gruesome part of their common history, their vampire lineage was always held as a threat over the Kovalyov’s head, and tournaments displaying their strength and penchant for violence were held regularly as a reminder of who truly owns who. Though the historical wound mended itself over time with the development of a more civilised way of ruling, the tradition of the tournament subsisted, and it remains a sore point in both of the families’ history.

Nowadays, the House of Petrovskikh is ruled by Pyotr V. Petrovsky, and his wife Sofiya V. Petrovskaya. They are the one who carried the family through Russian Revolutions and muggle changes of regimes, ensuring their legacies were not lost in the veritable torrent of anti-aristocracy that rose during the past centuries. Their status as a weaponry house certainly aided in this matter, furnishing the best offering camp and continuously renewing their arsenal, making new alliances and appeasing chaos. Sofiya was born into the wealthy Du Clermont family, bathed in precious metals and gemstones from mines Vladimir, Pyotr’s father, coveted. Sofiya was uprooted from her family at a young age, marrying into this hearth of cold blades and bones. Despite Pyotr’s desire to maintain traditions and customs of his house, he found himself lost in the wake of the great upheavals of the XXth century, and it was Sofiya who solidified herself into the true backbone of the family. Pyotr softened before his fierce wife, becoming with age this distant figure faintly visible in the morning light. His heart grew weak, and soon he was unable to leave his bed, leaving Sofiya as the true Head of the House. She loathed wars and shedding blood, torturing herself to try and find pacifist solutions to every problem, which was something hard to manage when one rules over an empire built on
the blood of others. Though Sofiya was a skilled politician and leader, one thing in which she lacked any ability was motherhood. She was harsh, uncaring and prone to such angers even her husband fled the room. Her children, Mstislav P. Petrovsky and Ekaterina P. Petrovskaya, grew dark for one, bitter for the other. Pyotr adored Ekaterina, and attempted marrying her into a wealthy pureblood house so that she would be able to form her own family. Instead, she went behind their respective backs and declared herself financed to Ivan S. Kovalyov, the heir of Image posted by the member
the Kovalyov Family. They were wed within the year. When Mstislav reached his adulthood and married, Sofiya began growing weaker and weaker, the food slowly losing its flavour, lips becoming dryer as the year passed. To this day both the Patriarch and the Matriarch are still standing, but they are both too weak to take any concrete decision, the role falling upon the shoulders of Mstislav.

The Petrovskikh live in the main estate in St Petersburgh, a grand mansion surrounded by hectares of land. They possess in total a good 75% of the House of Petrovskikh possession, including several other estates, mines, as well as a port for trading, though these resources would not suffice on their own and without the aid of their allies. The Kovalyov have taken over one of the largest forges of the wizarding world, located around the city of Zlatoust, in the South of the country. Their possession englobe an additional estate, the main forge, as well as several other forges scattered throughout the country. The Petrovskikh are experts in social and political domains. They are the ones

forging deals within the territory and abroad, as well as the one who export the weapons and armorwear. They have intricate ties with the Russian Ministry as they furnish magical clothing resistant to combat and spells, as well as with the globality of the other aristocratic families. They are also overseeing the coordination between the various steps of blacksmithing, from the materials to the final product, as well as ensuring no scandal or rebellion fosters within the family. The Kovalyov are the literal backbone of the family. Blacksmiths, poorer than the Petrovskikh though richer than most, they are the ones working the forges. They possess ancestral knowledge only communicated from heir to heir, and hold peculiar methods that make their products stand out from the rest of the market. Their greatest strength resides in their necessity. Their forges are essential for the prosperity of the family, and they cannot function without them.
To maintain their loyalty and foster a sense of equality within the House, a council is held each week, often more in times of need. At the table, the current Patriarch, the head of each family, the heirs if the subject of the meeting is not of a too-great importance, as well as the families’ respective counselor, advisor, etc. A delegate from the workers of the forges, as well as strategy generals and others non-members of the family often have a seat as well, though theirs is not guaranteed. Though the system resembles something akin to a democracy, it is always the voice of the Patriarch that is final, and none can oppose.

ALLIES - THE PETROVSKISKH FAMILY
THE DU CLERMONT // CLAVERO . family owners of mines all over the south west of europe, married their daughter to Pyotr in exchange for a deal over the price of gems and stones. They are at some point reinvited to the estate after the disappearance to rediscuss their alliance, offering Viktoriya as bait, though they were not interested in such.
THE VINOGRADOVAS . one of their most trusted allies, it was them who mstislav called upon learning of Aleksandra’s infidelity. Evpraksiya, their youngest, seem oddly infatuated with Viktoriya, and Mstislav encourages such an endeavor, not knowing he signed his demise.
THE BASKAKOVA . members of their close circle. They were called upon by Mstislav to assist Viktoriya's proclamation as an heir and strengthen their respective bond.
THE BARROWS . the family through which they managed to obtain the goblin silver.
THE BIANCHI . At first simply allies to the Petrovskikh family, Viktoriya managed to turn them against her father and side with her in the upcoming coup.
THE XIANG . tba, Viktoriya is sent by Evpraksiya to guard Meiyu from eventual dangers.

If hell is real then it unleashed its worst demons in the wake of this blood-drenched family. Ruthless, without mercy and thirsty for a pyrrhic victory, the Petrovskikh family has over time grown more and more into this vibrant image of a mighty warrior, wielding blades like limbs of their very own body. They command attention when stepping into a room, an uncanny aura likely due to their dhampir lineage, proudly proclaimed before the rest of society. Skilled fighters, feared killers, their path is unlikely to be crossed twice, as a dead man can do very little. Ancient and noble house, they are nowadays a landmark of Russian wizarding aristocracy, and though disapproving whispers hover about their dhampir lineage or their feminine égérie, cut tongues are unlikely to be heard twice. Preceded by their reputation as an elite weapon forger, they hold a tight influence over the Russian market, as well as a web of political lies and alliances over the Russian society. They are painfully aware of the delicate situation the Kovalyov have been pushing them into, and are intent on maintaining a firm grip over this vassal. To the eyes of society, they are but another imposing house, though with its sharp and polished thorns, trickling blood down wherever they step. House of Death, and Blood, and Fear.

A wolf was too kind of a word to describe the emotionless snake molded into the shape of a man. Blade strapped to his hip as though losing it would mean losing his identity, Mstislav could very well be the incarnation of evil itself. Ink black eyes rake over you and a shiver runs down your spine, Death has just anointed you its next target. Growing up in a chaotic environment, between a ruthless mother who cared little for her children, and a weak father completely infatuated with his devil of a wife, Mstislav quickly took a dark turn, learning quite early how impossibly thrilling triumphing over his enemy felt. Rotten to the core, he had never learned the true meaning of the word ‘no’, simply taking what he wanted or destroying what he couldn’t. He grew up harboring a deep resentment towards his father for being such a weakened man because of his sentiments, and swore to himself to be unmerciful, and to burn his heart
right where it stood. Mstislav never regarded women as weaker, on the contrary, but given his mother free reign of terror, he firmly believed they ought to be controlled and commanded, which is the reason why he was delighted by his delicate, lovely and obedient wife, who immediately gave him a male heir. In regard to his family, this cold, pale imitation of a male feels little. He held a profound affection for his wife, in the way one would have of a particularly beautiful item who procured oneself’ joy simply by knowing it was theirs. He trusted her too, at least trusted her to be a good wife, which is why
her betrayal hurt him this severely, sending him into a fit of rage only the sight of her death managed to appease. Towards Dmitry, he feels nothing but contempt. In a way, he was almost relieved to hear this idiotic, moronic joke of an heir didn’t have his blood, the blood of a conqueror, coursing through his veins dampened by alcohol and whatever else this rake ingested. Viktoriya was his true masterpiece. Forged, crafted by his own hands, it was the one person towards whom he felt what could be, if one was severely brain

A delicate thing, thrust into a world so ruthless her colour faded until she was nothing but wilted. What she desired above all else was to find a love as pure as those books she devoured as a child, so when she was fianced to the heir of one of Russia’s most ancient and renowned families, her heart was filled with nothing but the certainty she would do perfectly. And she did. Raised in a cage, the bird she was had never even thought of spreading her wings, and obedience came naturally. But feathers were lost in the mighty frost surrounding her new husband.

Sadness settled over each of her bones, and for a long period she remained childless, life slowly wilting away. She found neither, instead an awkward, tall farmer with a thick accent and the prettiest eyes she had ever seen. It was love at first sight. something was off. She cherished him with all of her might, trying to make up for Mstislav’ cold attitude towards his heir, as though he sensed something was off. His human traits were blamed on the hazards of genetics, but one couldn't deny he looked every bit like his mother, and little like his father. Nevertheless, he was raised as any heir, until one day Viktoriya was brought to life. Her birth was monstrous, Aleksandra almost dying in bed while she finally had something to live for, something to love and cherish and nurture, a product of the man she loved. Viktoriya was neither desired nor loved. While upon looking at Dmitry she would see the eyes she fell in love with, whenever her daughter met her gaze she was rooted into place, the familiar uneasy fear she felt whenever Mstislav was in the room tugging at the edges of her mind. She tried so very hard to love her daughter, but could only manage a flinch whenever the sharp girl moved near her. It saddened her, and yet her entire energy was poured

Drinks clanking to the ground, red liquid spilled over his opened shirt, and his limbs mindlessly sprawled over a nearby sofa, groaning over every bead of sunlight reaching his skin — this is a common way of finding the eldest Petrovskikh. At the great disarray of the many tutors which tried to drill some responsibilities into his too-thick skull, Dmitry is the exact opposite of what a perfect heir would be. Drunk, escaping and dodging duties as a sport, he spends a large part of his time having fun, disregarding everything that might come in the way of it. Lavish, luxury, gluttony — there isn’t yet a sin he has not committed.

From the second he was born he felt the sharp sting of disappointment piercing his newborn skin, coming from a man he rarely saw. His mother was, on the contrary, omnipresent. He was cherished, bathed in gold and draped in silk, giving his mind no time to dwell on the distance separating his father and he. Instead of striving to earn his approval, he instead turned to debauchery, convincing himself the pleasure his mother had wrapped around him in his early life was his by birth, and he would do nothing but enjoy it,
uncaring of the consequences. He had little regard for his father, and considered his mother’s love as granted, and thus abused it. When Viktoriya was born, something changed. The small girl almost took his mother in the process of coming to life, and was a miniature version of Mstislav, following him everywhere. Expecting her to be cast away with disdain, he was surprised when he let it occur, allowing her to step foot in his armory, attempt to carry blades and begin imitating his posture. For the very first time, he saw something unrecognisable glimmer in his father’s eyes. Pride. Jealousy was a rotten apple of eden, and he had little care in earning the approval of such a snake. No, what Dmitry felt upon looking down at Viktoriya, at this soldier his father was slowly crafting, was fear. Despite their differences, despite the obvious hatred she felt towards him, he had seen the corrupted ways of this family and wanted nothing but to shield her from it. If for that he had to be despised by both she and he, then so be it. He would plunge into debauchery, attract attention, make a fool of himself if it meant his father’s attention would be
aimed at him, not at this crystal-eyed child staring at his golden locks from afar. Dmitry didn’t know Mstislav had his strings wrapped around them both. The reveal of his origins was a blow. He did not believe at first, then was sent into a raging fit until finally the fear of death struck him down. Leaving his bitter sister behind was harder than anything he had imagined. He made a promise to return and save her from the iron claws of their, of her father. An unfulfilled promise, for he had left this life a few days later.

Hellhound, wolfe, lamb, sword, blade — many words are used to describe this terrible force of nature, though little belongs to the world of humanity. Viktoriya is moulded into the steps of her father. Pale, desaturated, she is steel come alive, forged into flames and blood, crystallised under the harsh bite of the snow. Her entire life has been resumed to a singular moment — her mother’s frantic escape. From there, everything she had been seeking to obtain, the throne and crown of thorn resting above her silver hair, everything has been finally hers. But victory came with a price, and this one was pyrrhic. Ever since, the event left such a bitter aftertaste on her tongue it tainted everything she seized, as though her mouth had been rotting from within since the moment ancient gods chose her to rise. To say Viktoriya did not possess feelings would be incorrect. It lingered more on the

thin border between having little time to process them, and not understanding what they are. From the second she was born, she was exposed but to a limited range of emotions — her father was either in terrible fits of rage, or in such a cold-blooded control the air around him appeared to thin. She discovered a few on her own, such as the thrill coursing through her veins whenever she struck something down, or the chill running down her spine when she saw others flinch before her, as well as the iron-hot sensation poured into her heart whenever her brother was revered for lifting his finger. One she did not like was the glimmer of. of something she would rather not name in her mother’s eyes whenever they crossed paths. Because of this emotional range of a teaspoon,

the young heiress had little option to choose from regarding her impressions of her own family, and even less towards other acquaintances. Towards her father, whatever shade of anger, frustration or desire to be appreciated was always tinted by a shade of faithful respect. If her shrunken heart could ever feel love, it would be aimed at this man who certainly did little to deserve it. Her brother had always infuriated her, the ‘not fair’ ringing into her ears whenever he stepped into a room shading every ounce of appreciation she might have ever felt towards him. As to Aleskandra, she did not want to even think about this disgraceful imitation of a mother. Perhaps the pain of never receiving a tender kiss caused her heart to rot faster, or perhaps she simply despised her weakness and the disrespect she had caused Mstislav. Guilt was also lodged into her heart, for she had been the one evoking seeing her mother with another man to her grandmother, trying to earn her approval. She had given it little thought, and when a week later Aleksei was dragged into their estate, when she saw her mother flee without looking twice at her, nothing could have stopped the tears from crumbling down her cheeks. In any case, what would embody Viktoriya entirely

was duty. She was dutiful, a blade sharpened by the assured hands of her father, ready to serve and swing down the neck of unfaithful followers. The devotion of a Knight was something entirely different, and she felt it like a blow the first time she truly saw Evpraksiya. If she had to kneel every day of her life and swear her oath once more towards the delicate maestro, she would. The youngest Vinogradova had won her eternal service, and she would gladly take it to her tomb. Some may say it is a form of love, others a twisted reflection of how her father raised her — it mattered little. Viktoriya had a purpose, a duty, and she lived and breathed to accomplish it.

Crafted into labour and pain, the Kovalyov family nurtures a wound overflowing with resentment since the day it was born. Literally ‘Blacksmith’, their name was granted upon the upheaval of a more civilised century, a desire from the Petrovskikh to maintain their loyalty while ensuring they remain bonded to their house. Though they merely own the forges and oversee their unfolding, still each child learns how to properly craft and forge their own blades. Ancestral knowledge about techniques is given from heir to heir upon the date of their majority, a secret excessively well preserved, and which makes the worldwide renown of their forges. Combining goblin silver with special techniques, temperature and timing, their weaponry is known for being fitted to the one wielding it, much like a wand chooses its companion. Though they are richer than most, in comparison to other aristocratic families their level of wealth is being maintained at a lower level, making them this odd entre-deux between a respectable family of high russian society, and a rich blacksmithing house. Never forget it.

The Kovalyov have taken over one of the largest forges of the wizarding world, located around the city of Zlatoust, in the South of the country. Their estate reflects accurately this line between nobles and bourgeois they appear to be constantly lingering on — hectares of domain, a large mansion and yet cracks run along the walls, broken windows are left unfixed and an overall sense of abandonment lingers at each corner of the house.

Ivan was a strange character. A cruel mix between kind and ruthless, caring and unfeeling. A walking paradox, who perhaps himself didn't know the true nature of his sentiment. He trusted old gods to guide him, those who rise from the turmoil of the earth and feast on the heart of unlawful creatures. His faith never wavered, and the time spent on his knees, hands joint, was one of the only moments he truly felt at peace. Since his birth his parents have been drilling into the thick layers of his skull Destiny had a path written in the dust and blood left behind the Petrovskikh’s wake. He bore the weight of centuries of oppression, one threatening to break loose and unravel decades of contained anger. His wife and son (*or children, depending) are but what matters to him, more than the duty his parents laid on his shoulders. He is a man of kindness and love thrown in the midst of an unwinnable war, one he knows will end drenched in blood on either side of the camp. Leaving his tearing niece that day, leaving the tiny child with silver hair behind him as he retreated to his estate, knowing it would be the last time they saw each other as friends, broke something in him.

Concluding a deal without her mother’s accord, she fianced herself to Ivan, and they were soon wed, giving birth to (number) child(ren). CAUSES AND REASON . A long-standing resentment has always harboured within the closed walls of the Kovalyov family, especially given the bright success of the Petrovskikh in the wizarding world. They feel robbed of what is rightfully theirs, as the forges are what the Petrovskikh rely on to shine in Russian aristocracy, while maintaining them in a permanent state of “mediocrity” (relatively). Until the scandal, Mstislav’s grip over the throne was undeniable, and even the thought of a revolt seemed unattainable. However that damned night of January, though Mstislav tried its best to prevent words of the scandal from reaching Kovalyov, knowing what it would unfold, Ivan was there that day and betrayed the trust his niece had for him by fleeting the estate, carrying word of the news. Mstislav was bound to fall. The ties were cut between the two families, though the back and forth of goods and weapons continued, for a solution to their codependency that wouldn’t end in blood and mutual destruction had yet to be established. Additionally, the Kovalyov carry an ancestral resentment towards the violent and bloody repression of their eventual protests over the centuries. The Petrovskikh being a notorious vampire family brought a horrific aspect to it. Overall, internal tensions have been brewing since the very day the houses split, one side aching for a freedom the other denies.

RESPECTIVE STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES . The Petrovskikh are experts in social and political domains. They are the ones forging deals within the territory and abroad, as well as the one who export the weapons and armorwear. Though they proudly affirm it, strongly

believing it gives them more strength and power, their status of a vampire/dhampir house make them stand out from the lot, and can harbor some purist’s disagreement, though none has dared yet make a move against them. The recent scandal, though it has been muffled to ensure the family’s integrity, also threatens their credibility on the national scene. The fact a woman is to be Heiress of such an ancient tragedy also fuels eventual rumors about their relevance in the Russian aristocracy. Overall, their main weakness is their reliance on their public appearance and status. Reputation is something quickly fallen, and they must ensure theirs remain pristine.

They are also incredibly reliant on the Kovalyov, as they are the one producing what they base their reputation upon, the incredible quality of their war items. The Kovalyov are the literal backbone of the family. Blacksmiths, poorer than the Petrovskikh though richer than most, they are the ones working the forges. They possess ancestral
knowledge only communicated from heir to heir, and hold peculiar methods that make their products stand out from the rest of the market. Their greatest strength resides in their necessity. Their forges are essential for the prosperity of the family, and they cannot function without them.

On the other hand, they are incredibly reliant on Petrovskikh's strength to function. They possess neither the material to run the forges or the means to make them function, both residing in the grasp of the Petrovskikh. Their name is also unknown to the aristocratic society,

and they are globally seen as lesser than the rest, as they are “working” in the forges (they are not, simply overseeing the process and dictating the way to follow). Thus, they cannot make the necessary deals to become indépendant. The Petrovskikh hold an iron grip over the Kovalyov, as they are their face, connection to the world as well as their means of living. The Petrovskikh
purposely maintain the Kovalyov in a certain state of living, with a set level of money, to ensure their dependance towards them. In return, the Kovalyov are well aware of the reliance of the Petrovskikh on their forges and the quality of their weapons. Should the Kovalyov simply cut all ties and emancipate themselves, both houses would fall. As of now, the Kovalyov do not possess the influence or means to thrive, or even survive
“WRATH AS THE DESIRE TO REPAY WHAT YOU HAVE SUFFERED. WRATH AS HOLY, WRATH AS GOD. WRATH AS ME.”

on their own. The Petrovskikh are the ones holding the deals for the silver, fire, charcoal, and other primary matters needed to run the forges. Should they free themselves from their thickening grasp, the Kovalyov would simply crumble from the small pedestal they were standing on, without income or means of earning one, and without any place in the aristocratic society. On the same line of thought, though they would certainly maintain a better façade, at least for a while, the Petrovskikh would be in a difficult position, losing what made their reputation in the first place. Deals would be called off, and they would slowly lose allies and reputation, thus being shunned from society as well.

Beneath the thick and blurry glass surrounding his heart, lies insecurity.

Leaving his bitter sister behind was harder than anything he had imagined. He made a promise to return and save her from the iron claws of their, of her father.

She discovered a few on her own, such as the thrill coursing through her veins whenever she struck something down, or the chill running down her spine when she saw others flinch before her, as well as the iron-hot sensation poured into her heart whenever her brother was revered for lifting his finger. If she had to kneel every day of her life and swear her oath once more towards the delicate maestro, she would. The youngest Vinogradova had won her eternal service, and she would gladly take it to her tomb. His faith never wavered, and the time spent on his knees, hands joint, was one of the only moments he truly felt at peace.

In return, the Kovalyov are well aware of the reliance of the Petrovskikh on their forges and the quality of their weapons. Should the Kovalyov simply cut all ties and emancipate themselves, both houses would fall. on their own.

Cranberry tangles spill over sallow skin. Wide-set ashen eyes peer out from hollowed sockets. Long, spindly limbs protrude delicately from layers of swamp-stained lace. Ondine is a gaunt girl, with a death-touched aura. Ondine's closet consists primarily of hand-sewn pieces made by her mother. Lace, dresses, and dull hues define the girl's wardrobe. Many of Ondine's clothes are reminiscent of pieces that one would find adorning Victorian dolls; frills, layers, and plenty of bows.

A decade of impossible expectations and harsh realities will grind a person down, leaving the hollowed version of what could have been in the wake. Ondine is an unhappy, anxiety prone girl. Her life is often dark. While her family seems to be fulfilled in their bleak destiny, Ondine feels torn, spending her life feeling foolish for wanting anything else but what she has been given- wishing she could just be content with her grim reality. The young girl is paranoid - always second-guessing, always investigating. With an intuition like Dee, anyone would be. She is not one to trust easily, but if you can manage to break her shell, she is loyal beyond the grave. In the right environment, she could thrive. But as it stands she is smothered- by the sickening swamp fog, the grief of strangers, and the weight of not belonging.

The Broken Mirror - Ondine does her best to reflect what others expect of her, but internally cracks under pressure.
The Haunted Heiress - The girl lives a life trapped by blood, duty, and whispers in the dark. While Ondine wishes for change, her name holds her down.
The Swamp Witch - Waterlogged bones, lost folk magic, and plenty of southern-gothic mysticism.
The Leroux family resides deep within a cypress shaded swamp, where they proudly maintain one of the south's most prestigious wizard cemeteries. For centuries, the Leroux families backyard has served as a final resting place for thousands of American wizards, a place shrouded in fog and steeped in history. Generation after generation, the Leroux family has tended graves and kept records- planted lilies and polished cold crypt stone. The Leroux family holds their duties above all else, living a life submerged in death. "Tell the boys to start another one." an all too common phrase in their household. Ondine's great grandfather, Berenger, was a seer- the perfect breed of wizard to keep the cemetery, and a shining example of exactly what a Leroux should be. A man of uncanny intuition, a knack for seeing the end, a pride for his name, and a head of flaming red hair.
On his command, Ondine's brothers would pause whatever they were doing, and begin constructing the next crypt. It was a rarity that the plot would not meet it's owner within a weeks time. This ability has aided the Leroux family cemetery for centuries, a seer emerging within the family tree every 100 or so years.

Now that Berenger has passed, Ondine's budding intuition grows more and more significant. As a young girl, Ondine spent her days in quiet rebellion, skipping atop crypts and stepping on memorial offerings, catching fireflies in preserve jars, shaking them until their

flames began to falter. Her father, Armand was emotionally unavailable, and Melisende was far from the warm mother figure that Ondine craved. Melisende was simply the dictator of the house, the decision maker, the final say. Unfortunately for Ondine, her mother favored her other children much more than the cranberry haired misfit. This longing for acceptance from her parents paired with her constant need to rebel from them and everything their name means has created a severe rift in Ondine, leaving her
without the kind of stability girls her age need to thrive, and with deep-seated resentment for the family that has never held her. As a young girl, Ondine would often search for wild iris near the swamp's edge. One day, while carefully picking blooms, a pair of black, beady eyes met hers from between the reeds, sending fear down her spine. It was a young alligator. With no thought, the girl let out a scream, one so loud apparently, that it could completely incapacitate those who fell victim to it. The creature rolled right over, belly up in the mud, limbs twitching, rendered helpless from the scream of an 8 year old girl.
She never told a soul.
Ondine comes from a long line of gifted Seers, a trait that has defined the family since its inception. Though many Leroux Seers have preceded Ondine, she is the first female seer to emerge in the family line. This has caused some rifts amongst her and her siblings, and most notably her mother, who does not believe that Dee is capable of wielding the gift properly. As a child, the girl seemed ordinary, if not slightly melancholy. If berenger had not seen the gift in her, perhaps she could have appreciated a few more years out of her mothers hateful gaze, and her fathers quiet resentment. As Ondine grows older, her intuition only strengthens. While not fully formed yet, visions are just around the corner.

Armand is a quiet man. Being a business owner of any kind is challenging, but Armand's occupation comes with an extra layer of responsibility. The Leroux man was not always so tired, though. The never ending turmoil of the cemetery, and years of living under the weight of not inheriting the gift have slowly chipped away at him, leaving him feeling as if he has inherently failed. Despite his emotional distance, Armand remains kind, especially for a Leroux man- never failing to offer his signature grin, regardless of the situation.

While Melisende's public appearance is perfectly poised, her private life is significantly less polished. Born to the Darbonne family, another pureblood family from Louisiana, Melisende has always known status. Marrying into the Leroux family meant that she would keep a prestigious name, but lose out on many of her day to day luxuries. Life in the swamp is fast paced, and Melisende has trouble keeping up with more than what is required, forcing Ondine and Theophile to pick up the pieces. This lifestyle has made the woman cold, closed-off, and constantly on edge.

Lucien is the black sheep; the family spectacle. From a young age, Lucien has displayed an uncanny level of ease surrounding death, making him the perfect person to preform the traditional death rites, including individualized preparations to each burial site. Each wizard buried in the Leroux Family Cemetery receives a hand made crypt, complete with custom engraved script, wand etched with care by Lucien. Often times, when rare moments of calm wash over the grounds, Lucien wanders the cemetery, and whispers to those unseen.

The golden child, and rightfully so. Theophile, unlike the rest of his family, seems to float through life without issue. It's not that he has it easier, but that he has grace, patience, and genuine strength that runs to the bone. Theo can sometimes come off as cold, but that couldn't be further from the case- he is simply level headed. Theo takes care of the heavy lifting associated with constructing the crypts, using his advanced wand work to navigate each task with relative ease. When Melisende's care falters, it is often Theo who steps up for his siblings.

Bastien is currently the youngest Leroux boy. While untrue, the boy would label himself as ordinary, simple, or boring. In actuality, Bastien is a clever young boy, who just has not found his stride yet. Bastien is expected to keep the Leroux home tidy and suited for guests, a task he finds unfit for a boy. Day to day the boy can be seen moping about, kicking stones and rolling his eyes at his mother's orders. Those who know him well, however, know you can coax a toothy grin out of the boy with simple jokes, trinkets, or a well timed snack break.

- House Keeping, Gardening

As the youngest member of the Leroux family, Isabeau enjoys a few perks. While still expected to help maintain the house, and aid Ondine in the gardens, Isabeau can primarily be found pestering her siblings, and wandering just a bit too close to the swamps edge. The girl is adventurous, and deceptive, often skirting around punishment with ease. Without a doubt, as Isa matures she will grow into a strong witch, and a force to be reckoned with. Many would describe Isa as a "girly girl", a term that she carries with pride, often using it as a weapon against Ondine and her nontraditional ways.

Many would describe Isa as a "girly girl", a term that she carries with pride, often using it as a weapon against Ondine and her nontraditional ways.

ears and big glassy eyes. If you asked Dee, she would tell you he is the cutest animal to ever exist. Morty helps keep Ondine grounded, feeling safe, and in a positive mood by snuggling deep into her pocket, and offering her cheek kisses from his shoulder perch. As embarrassed as she would be to admit it, he is her closest friend.

Willow is an uncommon wand wood known for it's aesthetics and inclination towards healing. Many say the ideal owner for a willow wand generally carries some level of insecurity, warranted or not. Willow wands have consistently selected those of greatest potential- those who have the most room to grow. It has been said - "He who has furthest to travel will go fastest with willow."
A core made from a magical fish native to the White River in Arkansas. White River Monsters are large, frightening fish, with long sharp spines decorating their exterior. Known to be elusive, the creature is rarely seen. Wands made with this core often prefer purebloods or wizards that come from wealthy homes. It is said that these wands produce spells of great force and elegance.

Ondine's wand was passed down to her in the summer of 2025 after her grandfather, Berenger, passed on. The wand has belonged to many Leroux seers before the girl. Ondine's wand is an extension of the great witches and wizards before her, linking her to her ancestors in ways nothing else can.

The wand is slender, carved from pale willow wood, with a slightly uneven, organic structure, as if grown rather than shaped. The grain spirals faintly along the wands surface, resembling gentle fingerprints. The instrument is a pale, ghostly taupe, seemingly bleached by years of use. Shaved bramble vines coil around
the wands base, providing something to grip in contrast to the smooth willow wood. It's aura is cold, and quietly unsettling. When engaged, the tip glows faintly with a sickly, scarlet luminescence- like a fading fever, or a bloom rotting from the inside out. Due to its core, the wand produces distinctly unusual side effects - the most notable pertaining to its temperature. When held, the first thing one would notice is the subtle chill radiating from the wand, as if the wand itself was just pulled from a cool river. Not frigid, but persistently cold.
