Not really knowing where she was going, Lizzie strolled along the books and shelves in the Library. It was the smell of fresh books that made her feel happy and safe even if she was pretty loud and obnoxious in the corridors or lessons. Life at Hogwarts was hard for Lizzie. She normally got a lot of attention at home due to her being the oldest. Now, she had to force the attention onto herself to become even a little noticeable.

She rubbed her left wrist and bit her lip. She always did this when something was uncomfortable. Lizzie looked left and right to see herself walking into the Restricted Section. She felt her heart start beating (even if she was annoying. Detention was not an option) and quickly walked out of the area. Lizzie decided it was best if her head did the walking instead of her feet. Except, her feet didn't give Lizzie the choice and just kept moving.

She huffed and crossed her arms and then looked down a shelf with books on 'muggle biographies'. It wasn't the first time her feet took her to this isle. She reluctantly moved along the stacks of books while quickly scanning all the titles. Many minutes passed, nothing looked interesting. So Lizzie grabbed the book closest to her and raced to a table.

She noticed another student across from her looking into a book. She couldn't tell what gender or year they were in but she noticed a rose was sticking out of their robe pocket. Not wanting to disturb them she looked down at the book in her hand and read the title. 'Mercury and Me'. Lizzie sighed and slammed it onto the table. 'What a waste of time this has been. I've read that book like 15 times!'

She looked back to the student and squinted her eyes trying to see what they were reading. Unfortunately, the text on the book cover was to small to notice. Lizzie sighed again then  looked around the tables and saw a vase with some roses.

'Maybe if I ask for a peace offering with those flowers then I can gain a real friend.' Lizzie grinned and stood up abruptly. Walking over to the vase and grabbed one of the roses. She looked and studied the flower noticing the delicate thorns have pricked her skin and the thin petals rested against her palm. She groaned and walked back to the table in front of the student.

"Hi. I'm sorry to bother you. Well, I'm not but..." Lizze started, "I saw you sitting here and thought maybe we could be friends. You see I don't have many friends. I got you this rose as a sign of peace. I'm just rambling now. Aren't I?"

She sighed, tucked a piece of hair away behind her ear and held out the rose towards the student while doing a nervous giggle.

Lucian looked up from the book she was reading, noticing the small Ravenclaw girl holding out her hand, a rose between her fingertips. Lucian looked down at her own rose she had sitting in her robe pocket and shook her head, snickering to herself slightly. Her sister, Ellowyn, had given her that rose over the summer, before she returned to Hogwarts for her second year. She had enchanted it to stay alive, and it meant the world to her. She had kept it in her trunk for the past few days since she had returned to Hogwarts, but after the scathing letter her mother had sent her, she felt she needed the reminder of her sisters love. Her sister had never been one to spend much time with Lucian, and especially after she had been sorted into Gryffindor, her whole family besides Oberron had near disowned her. She hadn't heard word from them throughout the entirety of her first ear, but when she had come home for the summer, Ellowyn had gifted her with her rose. She could still hear her voice inside her head:
"I'm not saying I'm not disappointed. You'll never be like us now; however, I've come to something Mum and Dad haven't. Although you're not like us anymore, and although we're saddened and disappointed, you are still my sister. You will always be my sister."
She had given Lucian the rose, and then shut herself in her room once more.
Shaking herself out of her daydreaming, Lucian looked back up from the rose and met the newcomer's eyes, raising a skeptical eyebrow.
"Oh?" She asked, resting her pointed chin in her neatly manicured hand. "And what makes you think we would be compatible friends? You know nothing about me." She smirked.
Lucian had had her fair share of people approach her in this same manner since she had first arrived at Hogwarts, and it never ended well. She was cold, and cynical, and difficult to know. People were drawn to her, but she was not an easy friend. She would never understand this approach.

Lizzie furrowed her eyebrows while the student seemed to have acknowledged the Ravenclaw but decided not to respond. She crossed her arms and waited for the girl to actually have any decency to reply to her.

"Oh?" She asked, resting her pointed chin in her neatly manicured hand "And what makes you think we would be compatible friends? You know nothing about me." She smirked.

Lizzie untied her arms and let them sing by her side. She did not expect that kind of response.   She also defiantly did not expect someone that she knew (not personally but from gossip) to be hiding behind the book. Maybe just a little 'Hello, sure we can be friends.' but this was going to be a challenge. Which is what made Lizzie more determined to get past the thick layer of skin.

"I do not have any friends. I know for a fact you don't have any either." Lizzie smirked at this and continued, "You don't seem to fit in. Neither do I. See perfect." She then sat of the edge of the table and faced the student. Then took the book out of the second-years hand and shut it while placing it on the table.

"I don't know anything about you? I know plenty enough. Your family is all Slytherin. Until you came along." By this time, Lizzie had jumped of the table and was circling it with her hands behind her back like a story teller. "You don't feel welcome anywhere. You associate with as many people as possible but don't let anyone in because you want a good reputation around this school. You sit in here and many places you feel safe just to get away from the judgmental people so you can be yourself. Is that enough for you?"

Lizzie then sat down at the table. "I'm Lizzie. First-year and a Ravenclaw. We notice small things. Like the rose sticking out of your pocket. That's why I offered you this. Obviously, it means something important to you." She placed the rose onto of the shut book and sat back in the chair while folding her arms, "Anything else you would like to add to us not being compatible?"

Ivy had seen many odd things at this school, but never had she seen someone suddenly decide that they would be great friends with another person just because they, too, was wearing a rose. Sure, roses weren’t a very common accessory, but come on, was this girl serious? With her shoulders tensing up at the audacious nature of the blonde Ravenclaw, she watched them carefully from where she was sitting nearby, doing her her homework. The girl who had unfortunately been addressed was recognised as one of Ivy’s housemates - what was her name again? Lucian, was it?

A grin appeared on Ivy’s face at cutting reply, which would surely put the overly curious Ravenclaw in her place. It quickly faded as the girl began to speak again - although not the awkward apology Ivy expected. She stated that neither of them had any friends before prattling off a long list of Lucian’s history. Ivy briefly pondered whether she should be impressed or creeped out.

She decided on the latter and interjected herself into the conversation as the girl introduced herself as Lizzie Dubroc with a blunt, “Have you been stalking her for the last few years or something?” Maybe not the best conversation starter, but it was better than a sudden statement that they were destined to be friends or something. Ivy sent Lucian a small nod - she was not the type of person to make friends on a whim, but they could be allies in this particular topic. “It’s more than just a little odd that you know so much about her.”

Lizzie looked at the girl that had spoken up and frowned. She thought Lizzie was a stalker? Really? She crossed her arms and held the frown. I am not a stalker! I just know a lot of things.

"As a matter of fact, no I am not a stalker. I was trying to start a civil conversation and then this Gryffindor student had to go and make a sarcastic question." She uncrossed her arms, "My house is known for it's knowledge. That doesn't mean it's just nerdy knowledge. Actually, when I'm trying to get my lovely dear sleep my room mates go and gossip."

She rolled her eyes at the mention of her room mates. They did really gossip and things she didn't want to know was stuck in the brain until death. Lizzie took a deep breath and continued "They so happened to be talking about a girl in Second-Year in Gryffindor that always hands out in the Library that always has a thick book in front of her face. I mean look around who else is here"

Lizzie took her own words and looked around. There was a Fifth-Year on their own table doing O.W.L revising. Another first-year probably doing potions homework. "Com'on you really think i would go and research someone for years and then offer them a rose? Even if it is special somehow."

She laughed, "I am very sorry if i  seemed weird (which I am anyway)and rude. I am normally the opposite of this." Lizzie sighed and looked down at her feet. She really did act like a stalker before but she was telling the truth. I am not sure after what I did do they could believe me.

Autumn frowned slightly, clutching at the book she had only just found, raising it to her chest. She knew that eavesdropping was rude, and that she should just leave the conversation alone. Yet, she could not bring herself to do it. It was strange. She never approached others, unless they were necessary to her agenda, or they were an essential part of yet another scheme. Now, she was dragging her feet and hiding her face behind her hood.

She was going to wilfully socialize. It was insane, and she did not like it. Her inner introvert was screaming at her, telling her to turn around, to leave these people alone. She would probably just get caught in a ramble anyway, and scare them off. She dropped her shoulders and turned around before any of them could see her. She opened her book and began reading. The words would not come. Her curiousity at how the conversation would turn out was too strong. She followed her instincts and finally trotted up to the girls.

"Internal conflict can go die in a hole," she muttered under her breath.

She put on a fake smile and did a slight courtsy.

"Salutations. I could not help but overhear your discussion."

This was how human beings socialised, right?

Ivy was becoming more and more confused by this girl's speech. She claimed that she was not a stalker (which she was, in Ivy's opinion) and stated that her house was known for knowledge. "Yes, Ravenclaw is known for knowledge, but I think you will find that not every Ravenclaw will know someone's full history," Ivy said coldly. The Ravenclaw then said something about her roommates and how they liked to gossip. Ivy had to stop herself from rolling her eyes. Who cared about her roommates? The topic here was her own nosiness, not theirs.

"Actually, yeah, I think you would," Ivy muttered in response to the girl's question as she returned to the whole stalking thing. Honestly, the nerve... The Ravenclaw apologized, informing the group that she usually was not so weird (something Ivy doubted), just as a girl dressed in Hufflepuff robes came up to the group and... what is she doing?!

"Salutations"? Curtseying? Ivy wondered if the world had gone mad that afternoon and shook her head slightly, staring at the girl with part-confusion, part-horror. "...Right." She shook her head again, barely hiding the disdain on her face. Honestly, had these people never been taught how to talk to other people? Ivy wasn't the best either, but honestly, were these people ok? She turned her attention back to the group. "You are...?"

Autumn bit her tongue slightly as she watched distaste enter the Gryffindor's face. She had known to stay away. Why had she not done so? Well, she was too far into it now to quit. She could not just leave. It would be embarrassing and cowardly. It would confuse them, scare them off. But, then again, did she care? These were simply 3 strangers she had found in the library.
...
Two of whom she was in the same year as.
Well, they weren't in the same house! She could try avoiding them!
She frowned and shook her head.
No.
She opened her mouth to speak.
"Do not mess up," a voice in her head warned her, "or act hostile or weird. No sarcasm, dark joke, casual self-deprecation, nothing. Act normal."
"My name is none of your business."
She face palmed internally, but did not shut up, because she knew that she had already hit rock bottom with first impressions. It was too late. She had dug herself into a hole, and she knew it was no use trying to dig herself out.
"And what isn't my business is this discussion. Yet, here I am, because I am an absolute idiot who still has not seemed to have figured out that nobody wants her to talk to them, especially if she is sharing her honest opinion. However, life is just a b***h sometimes. Well, now I'm rambling. Alright, basically, all I wanted to say was that, analyzation is natural to some, and overhearing gossip does not make you a stalker."
She gestured at the girl with the blonde hair and brown eyes.
"Still, I am slightly concerned about the fact that you took the rose straight from the library vase, with no form of permission. Before you think I was watching you, I was not. I was simply grabbing this book," she held up the book in her hands and flailed it around for the girls to see, "and the shelf happened to be near the rose vase. I was actually looking at the roses, from about a meter away, and that makes me slightly worried about your eyesight, but you probably just didn't realise I was there. It happens a lot. Also, is your finger adequate? The one you pricked, I mean."
She opened her bag and took out one of the two emergency band-aids, offering it to the girl.
Lastly, she turned to the girl holding "Mercury and Me".
"And, lastly, before I take my leave because I am being a disturbance, if you like that book, I recommend "Bohemian Rhapsody: The Definitive Biography of Freddie Mercury". Unless you have already read it. It would make sense if you had."
She finally inhaled and exhaled, the sighed, turning around to leave.
Before she did though, she slowly turned her head around to check the reactions of these poor strangers who she had completely failed at interacting with.

What the actual hell?!

Had everyone gone mental? Ivy had spoken exactly three words to the newcomer, and she responded with what seemed like an essay she had been preparing for a debate club or something. The Gryffindor watched the girl, her horror at the girl's lack of social skills evident on her face. Oh my God, please shut up.

She could not help but take offence to the girl's choice of language, and frowned as she realised that she was more concerned about a rose and bandaids than the fact that there seemed to be a stalker in their midst. Once the Hufflepuff was done, she spun on her heel and made to leave. Ivy looked at her, her lips parted slightly in shock. What had just happened?

"That was interesting," she muttered, to no one in particular. She called after the girl, regaining her senses. "What was that, may I ask?" If the Hufflepuff ignored her, Ivy would move forward quickly and take her by the wrist - her grip was firm, but not enough to hurt. "That really wasn't necessary. I was only asking your name." Ivy's grey eyes were stony and she arched a challenging eyebrow, matching her tone.

Lizzie stood there staring at the Hufflepuff girl with her arms swinging at her side. She defened her and also gave her another book to read about her idol. She grinned at the Gryffindors and crossed her arms again.

"I mean you could give your name but thanks for defending me." She grinned again and turned to the girl who called her a 'stalker', "You are pretty right to think I am a stalker but I'm not. That's your opinion but it's wrong..

She took one of the plasters and wrapped it around her finger, "I took the rose because look how many there are" There was about 20 in the vase, "I was also going to return it but it was just a nice gesture." Lizzie picked up the rose and placed it back in the vase where she got it from.

Lizzie then picked up her book and walked off the the shelves that held the Muggle Biographies. Why did I just make her think I WAS a stalker. She shook her head and looked around for where the book belonged. She scanned all the titles just like a few minutes ago and searched for the letter M.

I really messed up this time. Maybe Cassie will know what to do she thought and placed the book back in it's place. She smiled and walked away and out the Library.

Lizzie has left the library meaning I am no longer needed to be tagged. Please continue if you feel you need to.
