2025/26 Hufflepuff v Slytherin, Match 7

Missing twice in a row was annoying, only aggravated by the knowledge that she'd been perfectly fine minutes beforehand. Luca however, seemed to be doing particularly well with his flipendo hitting Alina this time. Alina herself didn't look to be doing well, only a hit or two away from being out perhaps?

Well speak of the devil and he shall appear, as the old adage went.

Alina shifted her targets, intent upon taking out at least Livia before her time ran out, but Livia continued to keep her dancing shoes on and nimbly evaded the white knockback jinx with minimal issue. Evpraksiya once again found no joy with her own knockback jinx, and Luca proved that he was indeed a capable duelist that was able to overcome his flub with a second successful cast in a row--a knockback jinx that caused Alina to stagger, wobble, and then slowly crumple.

Not before, as Piérre watched with slight horror, a white crack of light from Livia's metelojinx flooded the piste and split the skies in an unstoppable bolt towards the failing Hufflepuff, smiting her down as if the Flipendo was not enough insult to her injury. Well so much for his suppositions of a well-behaved cloud.

Time was up, and Piérre leapt up on the stage. "Stop! Stop!" He waved his hands and telepathically willed the watching nurse assistants to hasten ever-faster towards the currently smoldering Hufflepuff. "The duel is over! Time is up and there are no more viable targets able to contest the Viridian Vipers!"

He gesticulated towards the team. "Please, join me in giving your winners a hand: the Viridian Vipers!" And he politely clapped along with the whoops and hollers of Slytherin pride from the crowd, smiling in a way that made the ripples of a red-purple scaly blotch on the left side of his face crinkle. "Go get something nice for yourselves. You've earned it!"

And then, as an aside to the nurse assistants: "And, uh... get them all something nice too. I don't think we can go wrong with a... ehm..." Piérre snapped his fingers, the word that he was trying to think of temporarily eluding him for the time being. "...ghiacciolo it: Popsicle, right?"

When the hubbub died down a bit, the young man sighed and then scratched Figaro under his chin in the way that the feline loved before gracefully stepping down from the piste.

That had been it. His last moderation. He wasn't sure if he would miss it... and yet... there was a thing inside of him that said that he absolutely would.

The Gryffindor dueling captain would vanish soundlessly, effortlessly, into the crowd; entirely unremarkable to the very last.
