WRITER AND EDITOR NEEDED

With our February issue in the works, we ended up saying goodbye to two beloved team members along the way: Max Avery and Amanda Sparrow. Amanda has been with us since the very beginning, and her departure is a sad one. Max simply found himself busy with real-life priorities and had to step down. That being said, we are looking for people to fill their spot. We will be taking one editor and one sub-article writer. Sub-articles range anywhere from 200-500 words, so if you are looking to write articles in smaller quantities, this position is for you!

Applications need turning into myself and Phaedra Stavrou by February 23rd, one week from today. If you have any questions, owl myself or Phaedra.

Prerequisite: You MUST have a Discord or be willing to get one, as we do all of our work on Discord.

Note: Yes, you can apply for both positions, but should you make the team, you will only receive one position.

Applications have now closed. Thank you to all who have applied. If you did not receive a receipt from either myself or Phaedra, please contact me as soon as possible. Also, many of you sent your application to just me and not Phaedra as well; if you happened to send your application to just Phaedra, I need you to contact me with proof of this. This is also a reminder to send the application to both myself and Phaedra Stavrou. I include this in every single application announcement because Phaedra and myself are both busy people and sometimes applications get lost in everything else. Please be sure you are complying with what we ask of you so that we can get things done how they need to, it really helps make our lives easier and provides clear paper trails.

Graphic Designers Needed!

It is with a heavy heart that I announce that today, Dinara Lucey stepped down. Dinara has been with us for many months now and has done a tremendous job for the Headliner, and we are very sad to see her go.

Additionally, Asteria Kurokawa stepped down a few weeks ago as well, and we were holding off on opening positions to see if we needed a fourth. Now, in the interest of our team, we are looking for two graphic designers.

Please note that a graphic designer is not the same as a visual artist. If you are interested in helping with the illustration side of the Headliner, shoot me an owl and I can get that figured out, but otherwise, we are looking for people who can use sites like Canva. It is free and easy-to-use. If you are not skilled in graphic design but are interested in learning, please include that in your application; we have no issue with showing you the basics.

Please turn your application into both myself and Phaedra Stavrou. If you turn it into just one of us, you are risking your application not being added to the pool of applicants and therefore you not being voted on. Turn it into both!

All applications need to be turned in by Friday, April 10th, 2020. I am aware of timezones so for those of you who are behind me (I am in EST), I do not finalize applications until I wake up the next morning, so you still have time.

If you are on the team already, yes, you can apply.

Prerequisites: You MUST have Discord and you MUST be willing to work nearly every month.

One Main-Article Writer and One Editor Needed!

Santario Martin has, unfortunately, had to leave the team, leaving a vacant writer and editor position behind. Santario was one of the hardest-working members that the Headliner has ever seen, and she truly formed the editor position into what it is today. She will be missed dearly on our team.

All of that being said, there is now a position available for both editor and writer. The same deal as above, in the graphics applications, applies: owl your application to both myself and Phaedra Stavrou. Have your application in by Friday, April 10th, 2020.

Okay, I'm making my second announcement on this and implementing a new rule.

If that application in question that is sent to us is not sent to both me, Alexx Severin, and the Secretary, Phaedra Stavrou, then we will no longer be accepting it.

We get in a lot of applications, especially when there are multiple spots open, and it's hard to keep up with sometimes. There are also times where I will add the application to the list but not send back receipts, which Phaedra usually takes up the job of doing if I don't send one. It is crucial that an application is sent to both of us so that you aren't missed.

From this point on, if you do not send an application to both of us, it will not be accepted. I have already made an announcement about this once, and when posting that there are applications open, I have always highlighted that fact that it needs to be sent to me and Phaedra. That was not a suggestion. It was not an option. It's there for a reason.

Backup Graphics Needed!
As the Headliner progresses, we have found ourselves needing more hands on deck more often than not. Graphics has had the highest turnover rate in our history, so a few months back, we created a role of "reserve graphics". In this role, people who take up the position do not necessarily work every month, and instead are there in the event that they need to fill in or take up a main graphics position. Now, we are looking for at least two graphic designers, but this number may be reduced to one depending on the number of applications.

Applications will be open from today, 6/4/20, until the 11th of June, 2020. That is one week from today.

Please owl applications to both myself and Phaedra Stavrou. Any application that is not sent to both of us will be rejected, per rules put in the last time we opened applications. Please ensure that you owled it to the both of us.

Per new leadership in the graphics department, we have replaced the previous question of showing us examples of your work to adding a mock-up graphic display that you will need to complete in order to be eligible. The link to the mock-up can be found below:

Backup Graphics Needed!
I am sad to announce that our beloved graphics team leader, Lark Flaer, very recently stepped down from her position on the Headliner. Lark did a lot of work with developing the new graphics system and making the application process more direct and reliable for those who are seeking a spot on the team, as well as overall shaping the way the team works today. Her outstanding work ethic and team presence will be miss by all of us.

However, with her departure means that there is an open spot in the team for a new backup graphics person. As a reminder, we implemented the backup graphics so that we aren't facing mass burnout or feeling that they can't take breaks due to no one being able to cover for them. Reserve graphic designers do not work every month unless called upon, and they are expected to eventually take a leading position if needed.

Applications will be open from today,7/2/20, until July 9th, 2020 That is one week from today.

Please owl applications to both myself and Phaedra Stavrou. Any application that is not sent to both of us will be rejected, per rules put in the last time we opened applications. Please ensure that you owled it to the both of us. Please do not send the owl to us individually, include both of us in one owl.

Writer Needed
I am sad to announce that upon the finalization of our first issue for the 2020 schoolyear, Meenauh Silmataurea has elected to resign. Meenauh has been with us for exactly one year now and brought to us the very first consistent article on the Headliner, the Science Corner and Muggle Item of the Month. These are two features that have amazed readers since the first publication, and we will miss having someone of Meenauh's intelligence here on the team.

That being said, the Headliner is now looking for one sub-article writer. Sub-article writers are tasked with writing articles no more than 600 words a month, and they can write up to three of those articles each month. Recently on the Headliner, we introduced columns. These columns are specific areas in which you will write in. The Headliner would look favorably upon people who specifically wish to write in sports, holidays/themes, and/or gossip/student interest. Though you do not have to write specifically in any of these columns, the interest in those would be looked favorably upon.

Please fill out the following application, if you are interested, and send it to both myself and Phaedra Stavrou by Sunday, September 6th.
