Spring Royalty — The Pageant
The flowers were blooming; it was spring, the season of love. Posters about the event had been sent out and stuck on every billboard on the campus. On the afternoon of April 17, the Pageant of Spring Royalty was about to begin.
When people entered the Courtyard, they’d be amazed by the scene of a grand stage taking the center of the place with countless white and red rose bushes in full bloom on the side. The grand stage stood on the ground; the space was enough for ten people to play on it. It was framed by heavy crimson velvet curtains, which were gold-trimmed, shimmering under the sunlight. The backstage contained all the things the performers would need. There were instruments that candidates could borrow. The instruments were enchanted to self-play if anyone needed accompaniment. Everything was prepared in advance.
In the other part of the Courtyard, wood tables and chairs were across the area. Refined tablecloths with rabbit and heart embroidery were on every table; the chairs with comfortable cushions were to be company of the audiences. Each table featured a different bouquet with various main flowers: tulip, peony, daffodil, cherry blossom, and of course, white and red roses.
The sun was shining bright; butterflies were flying and stalling for the beautiful roses. The scent of all the bouquets intertwined and became a uniquely pleasant scent in the venue. It was a perfect day to enjoy the spring.

Spring Royalty — The Pageant
What a Long Roleplay! Want to save time and know immediately what to do in the spectator thread? You can... 1. turn to the bottom of this post for a brief introduction. 2. check this booklet to see a graphics version, which is also a booklet your character can get to read! ICly the performance would be approximately 20 minutes (I understand it might be a bit long but trust me, it'll be fun if you interact with Cassie and enjoy the grace of Ballet~)
Update Announcement: click the icons below to see the videos of the variations, send me an owl if it does not work properly for you.
Thank you for spending time to see Cassie perform, hope my posts have shown part of the beauty of Ballet to you.
This is the day for Cassie to perform. For weeks, she has been practising at any free time she has, dancing in the ballroom, at her party, drawing the details of her performance, asking her friends for suggestions... And for countless mornings, she has been running laps by the Great Lake, for half an hour, without resting to catch her breath. The reason behind such exercise is that Cassie will be doing wandless magic throughout her Ballet performance, which requires extra strength and endurance.
As for the dance itself, Cassie carefully chooses six Ballet variations, from many of the most popular Ballets in the history, and arranges them in a wise order so the audience will always feel refreshed and not bored as Cassie performs. The performance starts with an easy little variation, goes through some tragic tales and into stories of love and the lively Spanish dance, its enthusiasm hot as fire. It finally ends with a variation of sugar plum fairy, calling on everyone to enjoy this delightful and sweet moment.
aaa
Probably most of the students have heard of her performance. She met quite a few students while dancing in the ballroom, ran some campaigns, and, most importantly, she made a lovely booklet introducing her dance, and has been giving them out to many students. She tries hard to stand out from the countless competitors of the junior court, for the title of Spring Queen, which many hopes to get.
Finally, it is time for her to get on stage. What she wants to do, is to give out a performance, so fantastic, that it will grab the audiences' eye, and let them leave a deep impression on her graceful dance. She decides to perform first. She walks towards the stage, her heart pounding, yet her footsteps elegant. She is confident-- it will be HER MOMENT.
aaa
'Fumos' she says, as she creates smoke while walking to the center of the stage with her bag. It is a big one, as she has prepared many props as well. She doesn't want the audience to see while she is planning all the things. 'Colorvaria' she says again, as she changes the smoke from white to pink, red, orange... She has brought a small radio with her, recording the words she has said-- she is still learning spells that can make her sound louder. Her voice from the radio now echoes in the courtyard. Hello my friend, this is Cassie Jiang, third year Ravenclaw. I am pleased to dance for you in this season of blossoms. Hold your breath, the curtain is about to rise... WELCOME TO CASSIE'S ENCHATED BALLET! her voice, which sounds like singing gets some applause, after all, this is the first performance, and most students are still excited.
aaa says, as blue butterflies flies from her dress to the audience. She suppose some will reach out their hands to wait for the butterflies to land on their robes. Meanwhile, the radio continues its introduction-- 'Act 1 The Blue Bird. Taken from the beloved ballet The Sleeping Beauty, Blue Bird features a fairy dancing cheerfully like a blue bird in flight. Mimicking wings in motion, the moves are simple in form, but radiant in grace, offering you a glimpse of Ballet's beauty.' then the interactions, 'Feel free to wave your wand gently and let a soft glow unfold. A bird or butterfly might just pause and rest lightly on your shoulder.' it introduces the dance and what the audience can do. The moment the sound from the radio stops, the music of the Blue Bird Variation begins. Those who have met Cassie or walked by the ballroom might find the music familiar. Slightly adjusting her position, Cassie starts dancing.
The smoke has disappeared, revealing Cassie, in a blue ballet dress, standing at the centre of the stage. She waves to the audience and bows in a Ballet way. Lepidterio, she
aaa
With beautiful à la seconde and arabesques, her movements are lighter and more graceful than ever. Within a few moves, Cassie even finds time to generate a few more butterflies. Her practise does seem to be useful. She dances on pointe, whose difficulty can be understood even by those who have seen Ballet for the first time. The very last seconds of the dance are pirouettes. She spins on stage, with her right leg straight towards the ground and her hands close to her chest. One pirouettes, two, three... she cannot count how many times she had spun. She spins faster and faster, occasionally doing double pirouttes. Butterflies keeps flying from her dress to the crowd. The music comes to an end, and Cassie stops spinning at the very same moment. She opens a small basket on her right side, and lets go two blue birds. They flap their wings in the air, gracefully, just like her dance.
Cassie isn't feeling tired, after all, this is just the first of the six acts. She bows in an elegant way and smiles warmly to the audience. 'Fumos' she says softly, as mist in different shades of blue covers her from the audience. With a click, the radio starts talking again, in a cheerful voice. 'now coming the second act, the first is just a warm-up' she chuckles a bit.
'Ever heard of the white swan variation, or Odette?' From the mist, she can see some students nod. 'Enjoy this classic variation from Tchaikovsky’s timeless masterpiece Swan Lake, featuring the beloved Odette. From a haze of soft bubbles, a beautiful white swan rises, gliding elegantly on the surface of the moonlit lake. Every movement flows like water,Cassie takes a few deep breaths to calm herself down. She is just so excited to perform in front of all the students. She can smell the scent of roses by the stage, making her feel refreshed. She closes her eyes, concentrates and performs a spell. The mist changes its colour from blue to white, and slowly softens, revealing Cassie, now in a white tutu dress and a decoration in the shape of a feather on her head. Her arms stretch like the wings of a swan. Her facial expressions seem sorrowful, as if she is telling a tragic tale. 'Nix Facitur' she says, as small snowflakes fall from the sky, onto her white dress, hazel hair and pale skin. The music begins.
telling a sorrowful story of the swan maiden. Raise your wand and summon snowflakes—let the snowfall grow wilder!' aa
111
To the slow and lyrical music, Cassie does some battement fondu jété à la secondes. She stretches her long legs to its most on her side, which makes this move harder than usual. Yet she stands firmly on pointe, showing the strength she has in her legs. The snow keeps falling, probably a bit heavier if some of the audience are summoning snowflakes, which adds to the sorrowful feeling of the white swan.
At the second part of the variation, Cassie performs the part that is always known as 'when the dancer really turns into a swan' she adjusts her arms, as if a swan is clapping its wings.
The elegant curves of her arms move gently like waves as her feet moves fast in pointe shoes. Cassie immerses herself in dancing, imagining herself as the white swan who cannot meet her beloved prince, heartbroken.
By the end of the variation, Cassie adds a move herself-- she looks up, tears in her eyes and reaches out to catch a snowflake with both hands, holds it to her chest, closes her eyes and lowers her head, as if a swan hiding itself in its feathers, digesting sorrow alone. In the radio, the audience can hear the harsh wind blowing. She notices that their are fewer talking voices among the audience, they seem to be moved by the sadness of this variation.
'Fumos' she says again. As white mist covers her, the snow stops as well. This marks the end of the second act.
'Welcome to Cassie third act!' the radio continues to play Cassie's voice. 'In contrast to Act 2, this variation brings forth Odile, featuring the mysterious Black Swan. Every step filled with passion and tragic grace, her dance is sharp yet undoubtedly beautiful. Hold your wand, levitate the black feathers , and let them whirl into a storm.' she pauses. 'Which one will you like better? the white or the black swan? Let's wait and see...' the mist turns from light purple into dark purple, and then to black with a little gold whirling inside. Cassie quickly changing her clothes as she has practised for countless times, her hands a bit shaking due to excitement. When the mist fades, the audience will see Cassie in a black tutu dress with patterns woven with gold thread. To match the mysterious and evil feeling of this variation, Cassie wears a silver mask, with a black feather on the top and some gold marks. She smiles, thinking about how she would look like if she has a mirror in front of her right now. On the ground lays a pile of black feathers, for those interested, they can levitate the feathers and let them whirl.
With a clean and crisp triple piroutte, she ends in the arabesque posture. She does a few quick Sautés, a few light and graceful grand jetés and bows to the audience. Half of her performance is over. She smiles to the audience, as dark purple mist covers her.
111
The radio starts to play the music. With her face masked, Cassie feels even more free when she is dancing, as if no one watching knows who she is and no one will give comments on her dance. She is just dancing because of her passion. This variation is known for its thirty two continous Fouetté turns, which is called one of the most difficult Ballet moves. The moment arrives. Matching the fast beat of the music, Cassie starts spinning on pointe. One spin, two spins, a double piroutte, a triple piroutte... Even one who knows nothing about Ballet can see how difficult the fouettes are. The crowd might be cheering and applausing, or they might not, Cassie doesn't know. All she can hear now is the sound of the wind by her ears and the loud beat of the music.
111
As Cassie is busy with the props for the next act, the audience will see the mist turning from dark purple to pink and then back and forth between pink and red. Some may be able to guess the theme of next act by now-- love. The radio plays Cassie's cheerful voice. Yay, we are half way through. Coming up is a lively and cheerful variation-- Cupid's Bow. This lively variation comes from the classic ballet Don Quixote, which is known as one of the fastest variation of all. With love and joy, Cupid dances with playful jumps, and sparkling energy. Every step is fast, vibrant and full of spirit. Wave your wand and let colourful sparkles dance in the air—may Cupid bless you with love from those who hold you dear.
The audience may hear more noise than they did watching the other acts, soon they will find out. When the pink and red mist fades, they can see that the whole stage is rearranged. On one corner lays a bow, which represents the bow of cupid, the god of love. On both sides of the stage stood a bunch of hydrogen balloons in the shape of hearts, swaying to the gentle wind. Cassie thought of using magic to do this, but it's just too difficult for her to control so many balloons at once. 'Bullarum Imortalem' she says, as small pink bubbles surrounds her.
In some applause, Cassie begins to dance to the cheerful music. Known as one of the fastest variations, the variation begins with some Attitude derrière. Cassie lifts her leg as high as possible that the tip of her toes go higher than her head, which requires great flexibility. With each dance move, she lets out some more pink bubbles from the tip of her fingers. That is when she decides to take a detailed look at the audience.
on the moves again. But though her dance is still elegant, she cannot wipe the boy's smiling face from her mind. She blushes a little as she peeks at the boy several times, trying her best not to let him notice her crush on him.
As she continues to dance to the music, she looks at the faces of the students below. She can spot @Mira Hawkins, her bestie from Ilvermorny, and... @Zephyr Deakin, her friend whom she met at her club. Just then, a few pink bubbles float by the boy and disappear behind him. The sun rays makes his blond hair shine and his face more defined. The Hufflepuff boy is smiling at her, warmly. His eyes seem just so bright. Cassie gets lost for a second, her heart skips a beat. Nearly immediately she recognizes it is the sign that she has gotten a crush on him. She keeps dancing, hoping to concentrate
Meanwhile, her feet in pointe shoes jumps and spins, continuing to perform elegant Ballet. With a few passés, she ends this act with a quick yet clean ending pose. She looks at the boy one final time before she covers herself with pink mist.
Before playing the radio recording, Cassie murmurs to herself. Calm down. You've gotta calm down. Concentrate on your dance and don't let the crush feeling disturb you. She takes a few deep breaths, feeling that her heart is no longer pounding that fast, she plays the next recording.
'Come on and feel the vibe!' Cassie's voice sounds more enthusiastic than ever. In fact, her heart is pounding faster than usual, perhaps because the enthusiasm the next variation contains. 'Now presenting, the Kitri Variation! Dressed in bright red and holding a folded fan, the appearance of the main character of Don Quixote, marks the climax of Cassie's Ballet drama. In this bold Spanish dance, every gesture brings warmth to the stage. Use your wand to accio red flags from the stage and wave it as the dancer leaps and spins, feel the energy throughout the performance. Feel free to clap and dance to the beat!'
When the mist, which is now bright red fades, Cassie is seen dressed in a bright red dress and wearing a bright red rose on her hair, which is tied as a bun. A stack of flags lay by the edge of the stage, in red and dark purple. Audience can levitate them and wave as Cassie dances.
Cassie is smiling warmly. With a clap of her hands, the music begins. The vibrant and energetic music makes her feel energized. Cassie leaps and spins, her feet moving so fast that it leaves afterimages. The beat is fast, some may even find it difficult to wave the flag to the beat, yet Cassie's dance moves are always in time with it. The difficulty of this variation can easily be seen. Indeed, Cassie has spent weeks practising this 1 minute or so variation. She can hear the crowd clapping and cheering.
In fact, the reason why she puts this variation in the fifth act is to make sure that they won't get bored after such long performances. Those getting bored or sleepy are sure to get excited to the vibrant music. The variation ends with Cassie doing a fancy leap and a clap of her hands. 'Periculum' she says as she lets out some red sparks. She smiles and waves to the audience as red mist with glitters of gold covers her.
Great. Cassie thinks. I managed to dance without thinking of other things... and other people. Just one last variation left to go! She plays the recording as she changes her clothes using magic. 'One last variation! Enjoy Sugar Crown. As the final act of the Ballet drama, the sugar plum fairy steps forth, bringing joy to the scene. Filled with sweet ease and cheerful grace, the dance brings the whole performance to a lovely end, blessing you with the happiness of spring. As Cassie dances, sweets will be thrown to the audience, will you be fortunate enough to catch hold of any sweets?' The mist changes its color from red to pink, green, gold, yellow and other colours that can make one think of sweet candies. When the mist fades, Cassie can be seen in a pink and green tutu dress, holding a small basket on her right hand.
She has adjusted the moves of this variation for two reasons. One, she has to admit that she is tired after all those dancing, her dance moves may not be as elegant as it was in the previous variations. Two, she wants to interact with the audience more in the last act, instead of just dancing herself.Meanwhile, she waves and smiles to the audience, mainly faces she is not familiar with. But Cassie is such an extrovert that she will not get nervous about performing in front of people she does not know. She waves excitedly at Mira, who is now enjoying a piece of white chocolate. She tosses a few more candies at her. And, she sees Zephyr, the boy who just became her crush a few minutes ago. She can't stop smiling as she tosses some more candies and she realizes there is a heart-shaped chocolate hidden inside. He won't be aware of that, she thinks, I am just giving out candies randomly.
111
After a few arabesques and pirouttes, she does some pas de bourrées, which are tiny quick steps on pointe to one corner of the stage. Then, she starts the pattern of one quick double piroutte followed with a petit jeté(a small forward leap) and stands still with a petit battement derrière (backward leg lift) and that's when she opens the lid of her basket and tosses candies outward. She can see students raising their hands to catch them. She chose candies of different flavours and different colours. You might get caramel wrapped in light blue wrappers or milk chocolate wrapped in purple and gold wrappers... The variety of candies are beyond your imagination!
111
She quickly moves forward until she reaches the other side of the stage. Then she does pirouttes and double pirouttes back to the centre of the stage.
'Multicorfors' she says as she changes her dress into a gold, fancy evening dress. This time, she is not using a radio, instead, she is talking herself. 'Ladies and gentlemen,' her voice sounds beautiful, as usual. 'Cassie's Enchanted Ballet is about to end. In the past twenty minutes, we enjoyed six classic Ballet variations together.' The radio begins to play the song Golden from Demon Hunters. 'I had great fun preparing this show over the past two months, and I am proud to present this act after 12 years of practising Ballet, this royal kind of dance. I hope that I have shown you a glimpse of the grace of Ballet, together, let's enjoy the grace of Ballet and the beauty of arts. If you like my performance, please vote for me. '
The radio sings 'I was the queen I am meant to be.' 'I am Cassie Jiang, a third year Ravenclaw, a girl who loves Ballet and hopes to share its beauty with you. Thanks for your watching today!' The song reaches its climax as the lyrics 'I'm going up up up, it's our own moment, gonna be gonna be golden!' are sang in high notes. Cassie opens the gift boxes by her hand which are actually party streamers! Tinsel and sparkling streamers soar up into the sky, igniting everyone's passion. While students are excitedly catching the streamers, Cassie does 64 fouettés, does her ending pose, bows to the crowd elegantly and walks calmly downstage.
This marks an end to her long performance.
The details of her performance will be updated soon. For fellow students who'd like to rp in the spectator's thread, this is the plan of her performance and what you can do to interact with CassieCheck the graphics version at the shelves in the library~ the post will be coded once it is fully done.

♥Spring QueenThe courtyard was decorated beautifully today. There was a huge stage in the middle of the courtyard and there were white and red roses blooming on the side. I immediately thought to when in the book, Alice in Wonderland, they had to paint the roses red.
I looked at the program. I was the second to campaign for Spring Queen. Not that big of a deal, I was just really nervous. "Tina Carille" someone said. I fixed my hair and my pale blue dress. I slowly walked onto the stage, “You got this, don’t over think it.” I muttered to myself. I had prepared LOTS of things. A song, a dance, and a speech. But I still had no idea what was I going to do! Cassie did a dance en pointe. But I also had a dance en pointe to do! Suddenly I had a CRAZY thought. What if I did everything! I was up to the microphone already. It’s now or never! I thought. “Hello everyone. My name is Tina Carille, and I am so excited to be campaigning for Spring Queen today!” I said smiling out at the crowd. ” To me, spring is about new beginnings, and that’s how I felt when I came to Hogwarts. It was a new beginning. A place where I can grow. If you elect me as spring queen. I’ll make sure every one at Hogwarts feels at home. Whether I’m someone you talk to, or someone who’s your spontaneous best friend. Just know that I’m here for you no matter what. Because I know what it’s like to feel new in a big place. Thank you for listening.” I smiled again. “Now I’m so excited to share with you guys my performance part. I will firstly be singing Danceing Queen by a muggle band named Abba. I would like to thank Denise Yarbrough for giving me confidence to sing up here today!” I did a little clap for Denise. I hoped she wouldn’t get embarrassed. Maybe your doing too much… I thought. But it’s was too late to back out. The audience was expecting a show, I’ll give them a show. ”You can dance you can jive.” I started to sing. It was actually quite good. It was lively. I just hoped it was good enough. Then I moved onto my next act. It was pointe. I knew that Cassie, the girl before me, knew how hard it was because she did pointe too. I had prepared a dance to The Flame of Paris Variation. The dance was light and airy and I matched the music. But just before the dance I took out my wand and cast Wingardium Leviosa on a bunch of rose petals and made sure they gracefully floated down every so often. I started in the classic fourth position then started the routine. Grande jete, pique, Two jete, tombe… The pirouette, one, two, three, four… I soon lost count of how many turns I did. I put my foot down and did a pat de chat then finished with my arms in a graceful position. I After I finished my dance I did a little curtesy. With a little flick of my wand, I also made butterflies fly out from behind me in every pastel color. They caught the light of the setting sun and it looked like something out of a fairy tale. Then with another flick of my wand I changed into a contemporary costume and lyrical shoes. I did a more contemporary piece. More energetic. It was to the song Home by the good neighbors, a muggle band. ”For you more energetic folks, here’s a dance to a song called. Home. How I feel about Hogwarts. Because Hogwarts truly is my home. This dance is an arco/contemporary piece.” I launched into my routine. Calypso, front handspring, Ariel. Then a turn combo, fuate, float, then I rolled onto the floor. I ended the routine with some gold sparkles flying out of my wand. ”Thank you all for listening and watching! Vote Tina Carille as Spring Queen and everyone at Hogwarts will feel like they belong.” then I walked back to my seat and sat down to watch the other acts. Knowing that everything was up to my friends and my peers. I did my best.Spring Queen

Usually, Harlan wasn't the type of guy to sign up for a stupid competition where the contestants had to beg, borrow, or plead for votes with some type of talent component. To him? This was stupid and a waste of his time. Now, what felt like a stronger urge was to smash Aly Salinger into the ground and steal this crown from her grubby snitch-grabbing hands and tarnishing a perfect seventh year of Ravenclaw winning the Quidditch Cup. It helped when he heard that Ebony Vetra was joining too, two birds with one stone. It's why he joined the Unofficial Quidditch Match last month and had been actively acting chummy to anyone who seemed like it could've been a vote his way. When he saw the list of the senior court, Harlan hadn't heard of Verona Andréas. He had played against Quentin and Ebony in that Hockey thing and Linda was a fellow Gryffindor. And obviously, he knew Aly and Dealla for various reasons, okay! He stood in the suit that Camille's father gave him, it wasn't nearly on theme for what the Spring Ball had requested but most people simply dressed however and Harlan thought he looked rich (probably because it was very expensive) in a way that the Gryffindor could only dream about one day. The first person took to the stage and after ten minutes, the teenager had to ask how long this was going to take which a student helper said twenty five minutes. " Merlin, who has that kind of attention span. " Harlan certainly didn't, but to each their own. The teenager wasn't here to plead for people to vote for him or ostentatiously gesture as to why they should, instead he's simply go out there and show what he knew how to do and if that was enough, so be it. Another person came and went until it was Harlan's turn and with his Cherry wand in his hand, the dapper teenager took to the stage. " For those who don't know me, i'm Harlan Montgomery. Fourth Year Gryffindor and you see, i'm here to do what some of these others can't. Spell cast and entertain. " He wouldn't mention his diabolical plot, Harlan couldn't be certain if people would rally for his cause or if there were too many Pure-Bloods who would find it distasteful. Without skipping a beat, the wand lifted into the air and murmured the words, " Flagrate. " A fiery script appeared above his head as Harlan began to use his wand tip to draw these long lines of flames above him in the air as the Gryffindor's flourishes were that of a maestro conducting the fire like an orchestra until he replicated a rather simple reimagining of the Hogwarts Logo with the words Harlan Montgomery signed in cursive directly underneath. Whether to applause or not, Harlan finished with a bow and a wave taking barely five minutes to introduce himself and show his talent off. He could only hope it'd be enough to knock Aly down a peg or two. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

I walked onto the stage. My heart was pounding as I stepped near the microphone. My violin in one hand.
Hello everybody!” I said in a cheerful tone. “After all those marvelous performances I’m quite worried. I’m Natasha Blackwood and I will be playing the violin. These songs were recommended by students so hope you enjoy. Oh and thank you for all the great song recommendations!” I gave a slight pause.
“The first song I will be playing is quite a popular one. Viva la Vida by Coldplay. I, myself am not a big Coldplay fan, but this song is definitely incredible! Little history lesson for you all, if you didn’t know, viva la vida means ‘long life live’ in Spanish. It refers to the French Revolution and how King Louis XVI was executed. So while I play this great song, I thought I would let you all have some fun.”
I brought out a pole and a fake head from backstage.
“Let’s play put King Louis XVI’s head on a pole! All it requires is a simple Wingardium Leviosa, and the winner gets 5 sickles! So have fun, enjoy the song and long live life!”
I put my bow and violin up to my shoulder.
“Come on now, line up! Don’t be afraid to play a game!”
I started playing the notes. Slowly the room was filled with melody and the song breathed. People started singing along to the song. When it finally ended some people looked sad.
Time for the next song, I thought. The head on a pole game was still going on as I played "Enemies to Lovers". A beautiful violin piece. The strong notes filled the room. A sudden change from the previous.
After the song ended. Now it was time for something to warm up the night. The game was done by now and a few lucky people would be getting the reward for a job well done.
"A lot of you are coming with partners. My partner here Tim Clearly! Let's bring some romance into the night with the song "perfect"!
Ed Sheeran's popular song played through my violin. People started dancing and I made hearts and roses fall from above. The room was filled by people either softly singing the lyrics or people dancing.
As the song ended, I transitioned to a different song, hym to the weekend. "Time for a little party song, hymn to the weekend by Coldplay. It also has vocals from Beyonce! It was originally a song for parties but later became a song about the celebration of an angelic person in your life. If you know someone like that, cheers to them!"
I played the song and more people started to dance. Everybody was having a great time. Little angels floated around the room.
I played the next song, phantom of the opera. The strong, dark music filled the room. The room held its breath for this song and as the song went on people started tapping their shoes to the rhythm.
"The last song now guys. 7 years. A marvellous song and I hope you all have fun tonight!" I started to play the next song, 7 years. The vibes of the room continued and loads of people were having fun and busting some pretty crazy dance moves. The strong music filled the room. It really was quite a good song.
"Have a terrific evening! I have to leave now. And if you liked my performance, please vote for me!"
I exited the stage. My heart started thumping a little less. Was I good enough? I didn't really need to win, but I hoped they'd enjoyed the performance.

“English.” interacting/mentioning- @
ooc notes- Eden is singing Starman by David Bowie
“Spanish.”Eden had spent days trying to plan the perfect campaign for Hogwarts’ Spring Royalty. She knew she wanted to sing, that was guaranteed, but the nature of singing something to convince a crowd of strangers to vote for you was different. After all, this was her first time at Hogwarts; she was foreign to their customs and interests.
Her anxiety only swelled as the other candidates stepped up and performed. So far, one had danced, another sang. The girl who sang, a Hogwarts girl named Tina, happened to sing an ABBA song, one of Eden’s favorite bands. An older boy performed some spells, another sang. As Eden watched, she smiled and clapped enthusiastically. Even if they were her competition, it still took much strength to step up and perform.
When she had first moved to Ecuador, her abuela¹ would take her by the hand and whisper, “Nietita, hay que hacer de tripas corazón.”² It was that lesson she had brought with her to every aspect of her life. Bravery would win over hiding any day.
And suddenly it was her turn. She wiped her hands off on her skirt, adjusting the colorful bandana she wore over her sun-streaked hair. As Eden hopped up onto the stage, she smiled and waved cheerfully to the crowd, clearing her throat to speak the practiced lines of English she’d learned for the occasion.
“Hello, everyone!” she called, taking hold of the microphone. “It is so wonderful to be out here with you all today, Scotland weather is nicer compared to the heat we have in South America!” she laughed gently, moving center stage.
She squinted out to the crowd, trying briefly to catch the eye of any familiar faces. No such luck.
“My name is Eden, I am a 3rd year student from Castelobruxo. Please forgive any mistakes I make in my English, I am still learning!” Eden grinned, taking a deep breath to calm any remaining nerves. “Today, I am going to sing one of my favorite songs for you. It is an older one, but I have been practicing it and I hope you all enjoy it!”
Eden waited for the enchanted instruments to fill the intro phase of the song as she lifted the microphone to her lips and whispered out the beginning lyrics, Goodbye, love. Goodbye, love. She left the first words to still like the whispers of waves crashing against the beach back home as the guitar built in the background.
After her music cue, Eden jumped from the frozen position she’d been in to move slowly across the stage, using her hand as a form of metronome to keep the beat. As her voice grew louder, slowly building strength as the lyrics continued, she didn’t focus on any of the English words that tripped her up, she just felt.
When the song’s most iconic notes rang out, Eden jumped back to center stage, one arm lifted above her hand with the other holding the microphone in front of her face. “There’s a starman waiting in the sky,” she sang out to the crowd. “He’d like to come and meet us, but he thinks he’d blow our minds.”
During a musical break, Eden took the opportunity to skip around the stage and lose herself in Bowie’s song. She’d grown up listening to his music, and even if she couldn’t understand every word, she still loved it. She loved the way it bridged both her magical and muggle homes, her place in Portugal and her family in Ecuador. Even when she couldn’t count on doing everything perfectly or always being the best, she could count on music.
As the song came to a close, she held out the last note and dropped her arms back to her sides. “Thank you so much for listening to me, I hope you all enjoyed the music! Bowie is one of my favorite singers, and Starman is one of my favorite songs, even if I struggle to understand the English. This was my first time being here at Hogwarts, you’ve all been very welcoming. Thank you for having me!”
She waved once more, grinning and finally saying, “My name is Eden, and don’t forget to vote for Spring Royalty!” She finished in Spanish, “Chao chao!”³¹= grandma
²= Little granddaughter, we have to make a virtue of necessity.
³ = Bye!

Roland didn't know exactly why he was trying to be the Spring Ball King. His father had always assured him that monarchs were inherently evil, excusable only when suffering the tragedies of the Bard, and his mom, a woman whose zeal would've brought a tear to good ol' Robespierre's eyes, had further claimed that they remained corrupt even covered in stage dust. Roland, though, had no actual desire to bind the students of Hogwarts into solemn vassalage or bend them into his unquestionable rule. By Merlin's bead-bedecked and henna-dyed beard, no. When that wise, old Hat -which smelled pretty bad, no offence, Sir Godric- was dropped on his head, the only thing the boy yearned for was his time to shine. If Roland was stuck wearing the crimson mantle of Gryffindor, therefore, it was certainly not due to his nonexistent desire to execute Herculean deeds of gallantry, nor did he possess the restless spirit of a mischief-maker. Like a solitary atom only recently severed from the Absolute, the 12-year-old simply craved applause. He couldn't endure the thought of passing through this mortal, very mortal realm without making someone's eyes light up at least once. That magnificent vanity, in essence, was the exact reason he wished to wear a hollow crown tonight. |
![]() |
![]() | Summoned at last, Roland arrived clutching his newly acquired Comet 180, a humble vessel for the vast skies. "Roland Domagoj Marin," he introduced himself, "First year Gryffindor." People who knew him were probably confused; he was not the most athletic guy out there. "Don't assume that I intend to mount this," he drawled, holding the broom out. "I'm looking at a crowd that's way too refined to be impressed by cheap acrobatics." A knowing smile played upon his lips. "Those who know me probably thought I'd just perform yet another monologue. But, well, I'm feeling a little unpredictable this evening." He discarded the Comet, the sharp crack of wood upon stone fractured the silence. "Friends, don't trust anybody who tells you there's only one way to do things," he said. And then, having pulled out his wand and pointed it right at himself, "Levioso," he said the magic word. Instantly, the earth released him, and Roland started to rise, hovering between the stones and the sky. It was a fifth-grade charm, something he should not have possessed the sheer audacity to attempt. But the crown of the Spring King, he concluded, demanded a certain flamboyance. With a subtle dip of his wand, he began to drift back to earth slowly and landed on his feet again with the solemnity of a descending messiah. He offered a measured reverence to the audience. "Adieu." |

Spring Royalty — The Pageant
Riley Bluescar ✩ Ravenclaw
|
|
Moderators please note- I have edited the main performance section of my RP, thought you ought to know @Rosaline Everheart
♡♡♡♡♡♡Riley was quite nervous. To take her mind off of her impending doom, she focused on her surroundings. It was a lovely day. The birds were singing, and the courtyard was all jazzed up with roses and gazebos and such. It was so beautiful Riley almost enjoyed it. But no, she was too focused on manifesting perfectness in her performances. She was going to preform a song and a dance. She’d seen Cassie and Tina both perform. And they were lovely. Cassie had performed a long ballet performance that was sure to wow the audience. Tina had performed a pretty dance and sang a pretty song. And on top of it, she looked like a pageant queen while doing it. Riley looked like anything but a pageant queen. She was wearing a black camisole top with a fuzzy, light blue cardigan. She also wore a black skirt and light blue leg warmers. She wore black ballet flats that she would change to pointe shoes after her songs and monologue. She didn’t dress up much, since she was wearing a black leotard and tights underneath. Although, she was wearing a pretty silver tiara with sapphire crystals that brought out her deep blue eyes.
Riley tucked her hair behind her ear. It was wavy today. That wasn’t her decision, but she seemed to have woken up like it. She gave it a brush or two, then left. It seemed that she didn’t know how pretty she really was. Riley went through the choreo, lyrics, notes, and monologue. She had prepared a short choreography for her dance. The dance was sort of unlike what the previous ballerinas had done. Riley’s was darker. More emotional. I mean, she was wearing mostly black. The choreography was en pointe, yes, but it was a contemporary piece. The movements were full and dramatic. Riley liked that sort of thing. The song she was going to sing was titled ‘No one noticed’. It was sort of emotional as well. The best she could explain it was ethereal. Flowy. Enthralling. Maybe even ghostly. But Riley enjoyed it. And it was one of the only songs she could sing without her voice cracking. She was also going to play the background guitar. But that was nothing special. Just a few simple chords. Then she was going to really play. But this time, it was piano. The song was medieval, and it sounded pretty to her. That’s all she knew about it. And the monologue? That was heartfelt too. Emotional. Deep. It might be a good time to mention that Riley could cry on the spot. It was a sort of secret talent.
Riley’s train of thought was broken when she heard her name called. ”Riley Bluescar?” Riley took a deep breath and walked up to the stage. She smiled cheerily, and began to speak, projecting her voice across the courtyard. ”Good afternoon everyone! My name is Riley Bluescar, I’m a first year in Ravenclaw. I want to thank you all for coming. I’ll be performing four pieces, sorry if it’s a lot. The first two songs, the second a dance, and the last, a monologue. I’ll be singing ‘No one noticed’, by The Marias, and playing ‘Greensleeves’
Riley cleared her throat and plugged in her guitar to the amp before sitting down on the bench provided. She began playing her guitar, before eventually chiming in with her voice. ”Maybe I | Lost my mind | No one noticed | No one noticed | No one noticed.” She sang, in a melodic, drawling voice. The chord progression was easy. It had a three chord base including Am7, D7, and G. Some parts of the song were harder than others, especially the guitar solos, but Riley made it through okay. Her hands were shaking a bit, but the sound came out clear and lovely. She smiled softly in happiness as the song began to end.
The last verses were almost whispers, as the song faded out. “Come on, don't leave me it can't be that easy, babe | If you believe me I guess I'll get on a plane | Fly to your city excited to see your face | Hold me, console me and then I'll leave without a trace…” Riley sand out in a melodic whisper before ending with one last chord. Then she moved her guitar and someone helped her with the piano onstage. Then she smiled and began to play. It was a simple song, just very long. It had a sort of repeating tempo. Anyone who plays guitar could easily play piano. She began and hummed along to the soft medieval music. She was used to reading the notes in Guitar, so she learned it that way too. Once the song finished, Riley got up and curtsied, then she moved her guitar, and the bench.
That left just the microphone, for the monologue. She was doing a lot, but Riley was a jack of all trades. Riley out on a serious face. She cleared her throat yet again, and began speaking. “Don't you dare walk away from me! And don't tell me you're sorry! And don't tell me to forget it, and don't you dare tell me to "let it go." God knows, I'd like to. I wish I could, but I can't! I can't forget that we had something, and you're running away.
You're running away! Don't you see Mark? You're running from what I've searched for all my life! Why, because you're scared? Well, I'm scared too, but I - you and I - that night - you and I, Mark, we have something worth fighting for. We could make it work, I'm not saying it would be easy, but I care about you. And I know deep down, under this bravado, you care about me. And that's what it's all about, Mark, don't you get it? It's the human experience, Mark. You can pretend all you want, but you're only lying to yourself. You're running from what some people search for all their lives…From what I've searched for all my life, and…Mark, you're denying the simple and wonderful fact that you are emotional, and vulnerable, and alive. Can you honestly stand there and tell me that I mean nothing to you? That everything that happened that night was a lie? That you feel nothing?”
She was in tears now.”I feel sorry for you, Mark. I'll move on. I'll find someone else. I'll be all right, because I will know that I tried. That I did everything I could. But someday you will look back, and you will realize what you threw away. And you will regret it always.” After those last powerful words, Riley looked down at the floor for a moment and let it soak in. Then, she looked up, smiled, and held the microphone to her mouth. ”Thanks so much for listening! If you liked that so far, then just wait, because the grand finale is about to begin. If you felt the emotion, then vote Riley Bluescar!” Then she put the microphone away before getting up offstage and removing her warm-ups. Riley did a split on both sides and stretched her pointe a bit before heading back out onstage for her starting position.
It was exactly 2 minutes and 26 seconds long, and Riley was counting and listening to the music cues the whole time. She really filled all of her movements and poured her whole being into them. She smiled as she reached every position perfectly. The dance consisted of a lot of turns, acrobatics, and pointe, so it was naturally beautiful. When the music intensified near the end, was when Riley started to worry. But she didn’t forget to smile. And she smiled even brighter when she perfectly executed her final Grand Jeté. There were a few more jumps and turns, but the final turning point was when she dropped into middle splits. She could hear cheers emitting from the crowd. All of the movements were full and intricate, so Riley made sure to make her movements precise and lovely, and she was grinning brightly as she reached her ending pose, her head facing the ceiling. Then she got up, curtsied, and left the stage, proud of herself. Maybe she didn’t win, but she did the best she could, and Riley was happy.

Spring Royalty — The Pageant
OOC Note(VI): So all the chorography is made by me so if it is unclear, I am sorry. I don't have time to really make up a whole dance or find one, but here we are...
Ellie took a breath, this was it, her one shot. All the other performers had been great, would hers be enough? She didn't care about winning, although that would be absolutly great of course, she just wanted to perform. She was a showgirl after all.
She was wearing a simple black leotard with a knee length blue skirt, enough to look good, and comfortable to where she would be able to dance comfortably in it. Ellie walked to the stage, "Good afternoon! There have been some wonderful performances hasn't there? My name is Ellie Randensmith, I'm a second year Hufflepuff and um I will be dancing and singing for you! So yeah! Enjoy the show!"
With nothing else to say, Ellie got ready for her piece, starting on the floor, sitting with one leg in front, and one in back. Her wand is lit, Lumos spell cast. As soon as the music starts she rises from the floor slowly, whispering Nox so that her wand goes out. She starts to dance gracefully across the stage, wand in hand.
Ellie was dancing a contemporary dance to the muggle song, riptide. Well, since electronics didn't work here, she was singing it. In New York over the summer, Ellie had been introduced to it and instantly fell in love with the song. Matching the lyrics and the beet, she carefully navigated the stage, doing a pirouette in demi-pointe, preforming leaps, and other more simple moves inbetween.
Once the chorus started, she got to her favorite part of her dance. She glided across the stage, falling on the floor into a roll, then quickly standing up. She held her arms out and pulled them in, staring sadly into the space before her, or rather the audience. Then for her favorite move, simply because of how fun it was. So, a she was singing the lyrics I want to be your left hand man (she had decided not to change it to girl) she did two chaîné(shun-ay) turns, one high, one low, into a calypso, kicking one leg forward and one leg in a attitude.
She gracefully finished her piece gliding across the stage carefully, making her moves sharp and on point. The dance ended too soon and all of the sudden she was done, curtsying to the crowd. Ellie realized something while she was dancing. She did want to win. She had tried to hard on her piece and it felt wrong to just one care if she didn't. No, she might not want it as bad as some of the people here, but she did want it.Ellie is dancing too, and singing Riptide by Vance Joy
