Yeah… It saved me a lot of time for the Charms h.w but I still have to do the flying

This all actually reminded me to apply, so I'm applying for Charms! I have all Os except 1 class in Charms and it's making me frustrated so I want to prevent that from happening again.

I personally really like the rp hw. Bug I get that it isn’t everyones cup of tea. Perhaps a good solution could be to make it an «either or» thing? Either you answer questions (like most classes is set up) or you write an rp of a certain length? But I understand that rewriting assignments can be a much bigger task than I am able to see!

I would do the homework but I'm almost always busy with irl homework lol

Something similar is actually being considered by some professors I definitely can't make any promises that it will happen or what the timeline on that might be, but I know there are some people who are thinking about it, or at least in the form of having RP questions as bonuses.

You mean like in the first HOM there’s a bonus question so you could get like 12/10 or 22/20

Yep, that's what I mean by bonuses! Bonuses also help if you get other questions wrong.

I know there are people that like the RP homeworks, I personally hate them and will procrastinate on those homeworks if I even decide to do them at all and do the other homeworks before those ones even if it's a spell I need.

I definitely do not mean for my message to come across in a rude tone because that's not the intention! But I am trying to say it's not necessarily uh.. favored (to me in this case, but I'm sure there are others) when one is trying to get spells across accounts without having to put in too much effort. If that comes across any better?

I like the RP homeworks and usually do pretty well with them, they're just relatively time-consuming(in my opinion)!

Taros is right that this is being considered! Just for all of you who are quite new, homework used to be the only way to earn spells, and the long answer format was common. A lot of players did their HW for maybe a year and a half before giving up. This was offset by the practice of granting all the spells for a given year upon graduation.

The system was cumbersome and essentially made every character identical in their spell inventory. It was decided to change the system so that people would actually consider what spells their character would favour and make that a part of their character's development. In order to make the transition easier, HW was made almost trivially easy by most professors. The alternative of buying spells in the shops was also introduced as a way of making it simpler for players who aren't interested in doing OOC HW.

Current thinking is that it might be a good time to rebalance. A lot of people have expressed the wish for more writing in HWs. This is a good thing! Hio is a creative writing site after all, and we love to motivate people's creativity! As time goes on, I think you'll see a return of longer form HW. My own thoughts are to offer an either / or. You can either answer these 10 standard questions or you can write this long RP.

There are also other possibilities under discussion, which may or may not come to be.
