Damion was able to avoid being hit. However his spells hit their targets and a smile approached on his face. He was happy to have been able to hit his target and not become a target himself. He kept his wand ready for the next round. He was wanting to win this and was hoping his team survived it and they could win this match to say the least.

The spell was well cast and Cassius was pleased with the results. He was similarly pleased with the performance of his teammates. Anastasia cast a particularly good knockback jinx that was just slightly misaimed. Still, it appeared to have a disorienting effect on at least one of the badgers. Damion also did well and Cassius passed an appreciative nod in his direction.

• 10% of the damage done by a "dark" spell is done to a target that was successfully hit by a dark spell every round for the duration of the thread. This is considered to be "bleeding" and can be countered with the bandaging charm.
• In Duelling: This bleeding effect is limited to 4 rounds. If hit by another dark spell in the meantime, the bleeding effect is replaced with the new one.
• On a critical success with a "dark" spell, a second target (only if defined by the caster before this has been rolled) can be targeted, if no secondary target is declared then nothing happens.
• -10% damage done with non-dark spells.

Anastasia casted her jinx beautifully but her aim was off. Her Cracker barely managed to destabilise her youngest opponent who still was a year older that herself. The girl was trying to get her full focus back in the duel.
The three Hufflepuffs managed to cast spells her way – her way – before the two girls got disarmed by Damion White. Anastasia dodged one of the jinxes thrown her way, but couldn't avoid the crackers that exploded at her feet.

"Uh...oh..." Jake looked around - was he the only one who still had his wand? It was hard to see with everything going on (And still feeling like he was upside donw) but he was PRETTY sure he was the only one still casting.

That was a lot of pressure for Jake, who had been casting awfully today. That was it...He was going to need to practice for hours under the effects of that mist until he could actually aim. He was sure he could find somebody willing to cast it on him. George would probably relish it.

Haven looked at her wand as it fell out of her hand.

"What... the heck," she said, staring at it. "How could you do this to me? Betrayal." She shook her head in disappointment at it. The other team probably found it weird that Haven was talking to her wand, but Haven had quite the habit of talking to inanimate objects. Or to Marcus. Or to herself. Really, she talked a lot. She just would not shut up, which was often the complaint of her professors in class. However, for some reason, despite all the talking she did, she couldn't get spells right. Make it make sense. Surely by now Haven would be a bit better, but she couldn't even cast a simple cracker jinx. Or anything else, it seemed, for that matter. She huffed and puffed and hufflepuffed. They had to win. If they could lock in now, they could take the lead.

"Focus, focus, focus," she repeated to herself, over and over again. They could do this.

It was not going well, Lea already frustrated despite the little time spent on the piste. She knew it was stopping her from getting that upper hand again yet it was so easy to fall into that annoyance. Anastasia and her exchanged hits, a sudden explosion of crackers on each side as the Hufflepuff felt her balance suddenly swatted. Thankfully the teen didn't fully fall but her wand was sacrificed in the recentering, an echoed clatter letting her know that her roommate had done somewhat the same. Lovely.

Two Hufflepuffs without their wands meant that the eagles had only one spellcaster to worry about. Instead of seizing their chance to attack however, the Ravenclaw team once again went without casting or moving much at all. Lea and Haven’s quick movements to pick up their wands afforded them some cover from being hit, but there was no need for that extra caution in the end. Only one person aimed their wand, pointing at the very person whose uncanny aura caused them to fail. Pyxis didn’t know how Anastasia’s vibe could affect Jake when the badger probably couldn’t tell where the piste was, but the seventh year found that the goosebumps on his arms and the lack of water from his wand were connected.

She wasn't entirely sure if the Ravenclaws knew the rules of duels since while one might stop during practice if someone dropped a wand, the game still very much continued when in an official match. Still keeping a watchful eye out, Lea quickly scampered over where the wand rested and snatched it up. It seemed almost silent without spells flying as the teen walked backwards into position, glancing over to see that Haven had also managed to swiftly grab her own wand from the ground. They were ready then, all they needed was a bit more luck on their side and a strategy. Surely this gap was manageable, right?

Jake knew that they were lucky - the Ravenclaws ahd some mercy on them - they stopped casting just when the Hufflepuffs were at their weakest, needing to pick back up their wands. Was it sportsmanship? Even Jake knew you couldn't do that in a competition...still, he was grateful. Things were settling back to normal, and it was giving the Hufflepuffs time to regroup - they all had their wands...and most importantly, up was up and down was down again.
