Sometime in the early hours of a monday, a piece of deep pink colored paper, no bigger than a half of a parchment, got taped to an unremarkable wall in a not so frequently populated corridor. If one was skilled and or determined enough to understand the rather difficult to read cursive it's message was conveyed in, they'd find that the makeshift poster announced and invited the reader to a tea party slash a spot to trade chocolate frog cards. Besides this and an additional information on the place and time of this small event, three doodles graced the radiant paper: a smiling frog, a tea pot and a flower.

Four days later, the small raven behind the drawings dragged her feet to the bank of the Great lake. Letting the strap of her satchel slide off her shoulder, she crouched down beside it, pulling out a green checkered blanket - one of the items new to her packing list this school year - she set it over her chosen spot, silently smoothing it out and securing with few stones. In an almost robotic manner, she then set out tea cups - borrowed from various places such as the Ravenclaw common room, the school's kitchen and few lost and found boxes - a tea pot - delivered by her owl, Tevis, yesterday along with a note from her dad wishing her happy birthday and assuring her said kettle won't be missed in their kitchen and should remain with her - and a batch of cookies - baked by her mother last night, delivered by the same, pretty exhausted owl this morning. Once she was done, the girl plopped down onto the soft fabric. Knees drawn to her heaving chest, arms locked around them and glazed eyes fixed on the water ahead, Sabrina finally let her feelings and thoughts catch up to her. A cold shiver ran down her spine alongside them.

The nerves were so unbearable she almost burst out laughing. Who dreaded an event they themselves organized? Or rather, who else. Why did she even go through with this dumb idea? Why did she put up an open invitation? She closed her eyes. Slowly exhale through her nose. Nari was coming, she agreed to come and that had to be enough good news because no matter how unsure Sabrina might be, this was already happening and she had to see it all through. Just as she was in the middle of silently regreting all her life choices, a shuffle of grass reached her ears. Head whipping around, she stumbled into a standing position, eyes focusing on whoever it was that approached her.

Earlier that week, Zephyr was just walking down one of the quiet corridors in Hogwarts because once again, he took a wrong turn while trying to get to the library. He's starting to think if it's because if idiocy or the staircases were just really a pain in the arse. It's happening to him more often. While walking, something bright on the wall caught his attention. It was a pink piece of paper that was taped to the stone wall. He stopped to check it out but the writing was difficult to understand. It was a messy cursive. He had to step closer and tilt his head as he tried to read it. Hmm...tea… party and chocolate frog cards? Now that immediately got his attention.

He loved collecting chocolate frog cards and trading them was even better to get the one you're still missing. Besides that, the doodles on the paper was cute too. A frog, a teapot, and a flower head. It looked charming. “Tea party and card trading…” It sounded like a small gathering, not a big crowded event. He preferred those, just a small group of people talking and sharing things they liked. Whoever organized it seemed to put effort into it. The poster alone already showed personality. Why not? I’ll go.

When the day came, Zephyr headed toward the lake with his chocolate frog card album. The weather was nice that day and the lake looked peaceful as always. He immediately saw the girl, the blanket and the tea cups. Once he arrived, he slowed down but it still caught the girl's attention. She looked nervous by the way she suddenly jumped up after hearing him approach. In his shock, he stopped completely so he wouldn’t startle her more. Didn't she expect people to come?

Awkwardly, he raised one hand and waved at her in greeting, smiling. “Hi there.” The girl looked very stiff he was not sure how to react properly. It's as if she didn’t know what to do now that someone showed up. It made him wonder whether she was worried no one would come. “I saw your poster in the corridor. The one with the frog doodle. I thought it looked cute by the way. I brought some cards too, if the trading part is still happening.” Having said that, he went closer to the blanket and put his bag down. "I'm Zephyr."

Kaitlyn skipped out of the front entrance of the castle. A few days ago, the young snake saw a rather interesting advertisement (at least, interesting in her personal opinion). The cursive wasn’t perfect, and there were doodles on it. Despite those facts, the far more interesting portion was the advertisement for a tea party!

Growing up, Kaitlyn’s muggle school frequently held tea parties, in addition to etiquette parties. St. Ann’s all-girls Catholic boarding school frequently advertised its commitment to educating well-rounded young women. This often meant a priority to academics, but also a robust extracurricular program … in addition to fancy etiquette classes. At the time, she had been plagued by stuttering and social anxiety. Despite these facts, she still learned all that she could about tea parties … even if many of them featured gossip (just … ew).

A quiet hum escaped her lips, as Kaitlyn skipped out to the grounds. Her sandals clicked against the ground in her happy movements. She carried her satchel with her … rather admittedly small … chocolate frog card collection. In her hands, she carried a small plate of biscuits from the Hogwarts Kitchen (ah, she loved how she could now visit it as a third year).

Gracefully, Kaitlyn approached the shore of the Great Lake, where a blanket lay on the ground. A younger girl and an even younger boy were already there. Which one advertised this … she hadn’t a clue. Although the girl appeared stiff. Maybe nerves over this tea party? Perhaps! Yet, she wasn’t one to judge …. especially now as a young prefect for Slytherin. Although, based on her current outfit … her prefect badge was currently safely tucked away in a pocket of her satchel.

“Hi!” She greeted them both when she was within earshot. “I brought biscuits. Admittedly, I’m excited for this tea party,” she giggled quietly, setting the biscuits on the blanket. While she was no longer actively stuttering, she still had plenty of social anxiety. Hopefully, it wouldn’t flare up during this social event.

XXXEonaria had nearly tripped down the stairs in her haste to get out of her dormitory, pulse running high and not even sure if she had everything she wanted to bring. She was late, wasn't she?!

XXXWas she?

XXXEonaria breathed a frustrated sigh, taking a moment to make sure that her shoes were on properly and that she was indeed holding the correct satchel, and of course, that there were no ink stains on her light blue sundress or navy leggings. She looked around the dormitory suspiciously one last time before tucking the gift box safely under her arm. Alright, now she could leave properly.

XXXShe hurried down to the grounds, spying in the distance a green-checkered blanket laid out near the lake, along with three people. "I'm not late, right?" she voiced gently, trying to siphon the frantic energy out of her body before she embarrassed herself.

XXXThe first was, of course, her best friend Sabrina, who was looking slightly peaky. Eonaria blinked in concern, but bowed slightly and held out the gift box, which was wrapped neatly in green fern-patterned paper and tied off with a bright yellow ribbon. "Happy birthday!" she cheered. "You look great!" Hopefully Brie likes it! It had taken a while for her to figure out what to give her. Eonaria was suddenly struck by the fact that Brie was nearly an entire year older than her. If she had just turned thirteen today, and she had her twelfth birthday last month... Eonaria shook her head slightly, her cheeks reddening faintly.

XXXThe other girl standing there was... Kaitlyn, right? She had seen her around at multiple events. The third person was a boy whom Eonaria had never seen before. She offered a friendly nod to both of them. "Hello! My name is Eonaria. And you are...?"

XXXAfter they all exchanged pleasantries, Eonaria sat down carefully on the blanket with her legs criss-crossed, putting her satchel on her lap. It, of course, held her not-very-impressive collection of chocolate frog cards, her wand, and a handkerchief. She did really like tea.

The gift is an enchanted collection of blooming teas (white tea leaves wrapped around a dried, edible flower. when hydrated in hot water, the flower blooms and the tea leaves do their tea thing. The magic revives the flower fully and also matches the taste of the tea to one that is favoured by the drinker.) and a derpy froggy plush. Imagine it any way you want, cause I scrolled Pinterest for way too long and yet could not find the perfect froggy :'(

Heart beat loud in her ears, shoulders tense and breath coming in fast, shallow doces she looked up to see - a boy. She blinked. Took a deep breath. Released it.

She could handle a boy.

He was taller than her - but really, at her abnormally short 4'4, who wasn't taller than her - blonde, around her age but with a face she didn't recognize, which could either mean that he was a first year or she'll have to akwardly explain why she lacked the knowaldge of his existance after a year of possible mutual studies. Thankfully, the latter seemed to be the case as his greetings included an introduction. Silently, in a timid, to the girl unusual, manner, her own hand rose, returning the small wave. Whether from her lasting nerves or absurdity of their meeting, Sabrina actually chuckled, smiling back at the soon to be not-stranger.

Smoothing out unexisting wrinkles from her lap, she took the few remaining steps to close the distance between them, just enough to offer the blonde a handshake, 'Sabrina, Sabrina Lyons, Brie for short,' she went with her usual introduction, glad for the small ritual as it lend her few more seconds to collect her normally rapid thoughts, 'thanks! My artistic skills aren't anything great, but one does try. The trading is still very much happening - cool case, by the way,' she was visibly relaxing with every spoken word, nodding to the album he was holding, 'I keep my cards in a stack. I should get something like that, too.'

Before she could add anything else, or offer the boy - who she forgot to remember the name of, although she was positive it started with a Z' - a seat, another student showed up, this time appearing at least mildly familiar to her. A wave of terror washed over the small raven as she noted the short span of time between these two arrivals, calculating just how many more could join them in mere minutes. Oh Merlin, she shouldn't have put up an open invitation. No matter, she forced the stiffness out of her spine, extanding a hand towards the girl as well.

'Sabrina, Sabrina Lyons, Brie for short,' she repeated, 'Welcome to the froggy tea party! Where we drink frogs and trade tea- drinkteaandtradefrogs-,' she rushed through her correction just as quickly as the blush rushed to her cheeks, 'chocolate. Chocolate frogs. And eat biscuits, hah, obviously. We have so many I should've included them in the name - not that I knew you, or for the matter I, would bring any, you see- ' her mouth continued to make a fool out of her, hands gesturing around helplessly as she desperately willed herself to combust. on. the. spot.

Just then, like an angel send from above, Nari, her best friend and current saviour, glided down from the castle, draped in a beutiful dress that complimented both her hair and rest of outfit, as graceful as ever. Or at least, as graceful as Sabrina always perceived her to be. The raven could just about burst into tears from relief.

'Nari!' she cut her own ramblings off, standing on her toes to drag her friend into a tight but brief hug 'Oh Rowena, thank Rowena - Nari! You came in the rightest of right moments. Oh, you have no idea how glad-', she began to whisper confess into her friend's hair, careful as to not be overheared by the nearby students, when all her air supply abruptly left her lungs, leaving her speechless, as her angelic saviour wished her happy birthday. Happy. Birthday. Smile fading, hands robotically lifting to accept the gift that brough it's new owner more despair than joy, her mind rushed through her memories, replaying the one where she clearly told Nari not to mention the fact that today was her birthday.

'Oh wow,' she heared herself say, as if from far away, her tone carrying the driness of her throat, 'thanks.'

She couldn't bring herself to feel true gratitude for the, surely, thoughtful gift, overfilled with the sense of unexpected betrayal. How could her beacon of hope lead her to crash against the rocky cliffs? She wanted to keep the overlap of her birtday and this tea party a secret for a reason. It invited awkward wishes, faux care and, worst of all, forced all the attention on her. She organized this, hopefully, small event to create a safe enviroment where she could ease into the idea of big groups and events, not beat the final boss fight of social anxiety.

Turning her back to the party members, she crouched down to lay, and hide, the present behind her satchal, giving the others privacy to get to know each other and herself time to reassamble her crumbling mind, and will her stomach from pushing her breakfast back up her throat. Clearing it, her eyes set on something within her open bag that could help her steer the conversation in the right diraction. Standing back up again, with a smile she wished would appear sincere, she passed five unopened chocolate frogs to each of the three attendees.

'Oh, I almost forgot, I brough this for you,' she kept her voice calm, dare she hope joyful, sitting down at the edge of her blanket, back turned to the lake - to see any potential new arrivals and have her back protected by something she trusted - and legs crisscrossed, she gestured to her quests to do the same, 'come on, open them! Maybe you'll find a golden card that I could then steal back from you,' she attempted a joke, reaching for five more unopened boxes she brought for herself, occupying her hands with opening them.
