Gryffindor VS Slytherin: Match 3

It had been too long since the beginning of a duel had gone this well. All three Gryffindors made the decision to dodge, instead of cast (which, you know, fair, though it was an interesting strategy Mahlioz hadn't exactly seen before. and it did mean that she didn't need a meat shield this time!). Unfortunately for them, somehow, luck was on the Vipers' side, for once. Mahlioz's Nebulus worked out very well - it looked quite opaque and durable - and both their teammates' spells were refreshingly accurate and efficient. Alrighttt. Now, to keep this good luck going.

Gryffindor VS Slytherin: Match 3
Oh thank Merlin.
Draven's casting had left a lot to be desired in his last duel. Starting with a successful spell was a good sign. Across the room, the Gryffindors were looking a little worse for wear.
Rolling his shoulders back- a nervous tic he'd been noticing more and more, Draven refocused his attention. He'd yet to be set on fire, slammed into a wall, or made to throw up bats. All was right in the world, at least for now. Though why Vlad was shouting at them was a mystery.
Beside him, Mahl and Pyxis were a blur of motion, perfectly executed spells having flown across the room and found their targets. "A couple more of those and we'll be done in time for lunch," Draven snickered, quirking an eyebrow at the other team.

He'd never tried that spell before, but it looked darn cool when he watched the upper years do it. Sending a torrential gust of wind at one of the lions would’ve made his day, but after a moment of consideration, Pyxis’ focus allowed the storm to split into two. It seemed that too much focus was not advantageous for this newfound ability of his, however. One of his intended targets looked unharmed by his cast, but he was lucky that Draven was there to fill in the gap created by his weaknesses. The fog from Mahlioz made it harder to see across the piste, and he wondered if the Gryffindors would continue to stand still amidst the smokescreen.

Date : February 15th, 2026 Color code : Written | Thought | Said Sere didn't remember whether they were actually discussing about actively dodging in the first round, but they did dodge at the same time. This might have come naturally because they didn't know what would the Viridian Vipers do as their opening actions and play it safe in the first round could be really useful.
Well, it could be.
Only if there weren't two exquisite spells flashing smoothly on her teammates. What in the world is the point of dodging against those double perfect spells? Sere looked right in their eyes and saw a hint of satisfaction in it, as they should be.
The Gryffindor focused her vision after the winds blurred everything around her team. The lioness tried to anticipate what would come next while locking another action for the second round.WC : 132/50

Day 2 morning slot
Gryffindor seemed to have decided to do a complete 180 in regard to their opening strategy, as they sent several highly aggressive spells towards the Slytherins. Their decision seemed to pay off as well as all three of their spells hit, although Mylo thought to have seen that Sere's spell originally had a different target, luckily it still worked out for them though.
The Slytherins seemed to have partially been able to see the spells coming however, as although they weren't able to fully avoid all of the onslaught both Draven and Pyxis managed to reduce their impact, Draven's wand landing right by his feet for easy access and the flames surrounding Pyxis not seeming as vicious as normal. The crackers that landed at his feet however were as painful as always, he'd likely be feeling those for a little bit longer.
Slytherins own spells didn't even seem to have been able to go wrong, as although Draven had decided to make sure Siobhan couldn't properly try and evade the spells coming in her direction by creating a slippery surface beneath her feet she didn't seem to have decided to dodge. However maybe dodging even a little bit would've helped, as both Mahlioz's and Pyxis's Flipendo's hit the Gryffindor.
She was probably on the verge of unconsciousness, but as Mylo had seen no indication that she was actually unable to continue on they watched as the battle raged on, very curious to see how this would end.

Date : February 15th, 2026 Color code : Written | Thought | Said Sere decided to play with fire in this round, even though the debuffs was quite annoying. She tried to spot her target behind all the blurring winds. "Incendio Duo!"
The spell penetrated out of the barrier, but Sere had no way of knowing if it had hit its intended target. Let alone confirming the spell, she was even having a hard time seeing the condition of her own teammates. As she found out that the light of spells rained towards Siobhan, Sere realized the situation was worse than she had anticipated. "Oh, no..."WC : 93/50

────────────────────────────────Siobhan was on the ground and the ground felt good. Maybe she could just close her eyes for a few seconds and then she would feel better. That usually helped when the pain in her eyes was so great she knew she was going to pass out.
Then reality reminded her that she was not down and out for the count and she still had a duel to win. If she wanted to be anything but miserable, she could do that later when this game was over. Her teammates where depending on her and she needed to help them until she couldn't anymore. Both of those spells stung her sternum and she winced with every muscle reaction as she pushed herself off the ground and steadied her legs.
"It's alright, I'm fine." Siobhan vocalized towards the sound of a worried Sere. The poor thing had been with her on the same dueling team for years and they had a good sense of when too much was too much. However neither of them where going to do very well if she up and abandoned her team to pass out on the piste.

Well, wasn't this lovely. All eyes weren't on him this time around. Now, he did have to feel bad for the lovely lady that combated on his team. He smiled softly to hide his inner joy, but prepared himself for his next set of actions. Of course, though, he needed to be at his tip top best, otherwise he could cost Gryffindor the win that they so gallantly needed.

Draven watched morbidly as his spell proceeded to do nothing at all. Brilliant. And to top it off, a few moments later, his wand flicked out of his hand. Draven's eyes narrowed. A couple more months and he'd fix this. A couple more months. He was sure the pathetic training attempts he'd been doing in his dorm would pay off eventually, and this was just further proof he needed to speed them up. The helplessness blooming in his chest was not a pleasant feeling.

A fantastic opening morphed into a bit of torment for Pyxis. Crackers turned out to be his worst enemy and he yelped at the searing pops of the spell, managing to step into a fire spell gone rogue. At the very least, he wasn’t in the nightmare that his target was as his and Mahlioz’s Knockback Jinxes landed perfectly.
