Luca thought for a few fleeting moments about what piqued his interest in magical law enforcement. His first year at school was pivotal in shaping his individuality as a young man at the spry age of twelve. Still, his precision and strategic nature were the core of his blossoming personality. The young wizard thought about how Aurors work represented the highest application of dueling, strategy, and magical precision. Perhaps he wanted more? “You don’t have to bend the rules if you just write them in your favor, and Auror work is a practical way to learn the rules,” Luca explained. As he spoke, his eyes glazed over Harvey, making a mental note about the boy’s deeper probing into his thoughts.

The Corranado boy mentally bristled at Harvey for being so open about being masters of their houses in the future. While the half-Goblin boy was correct, there was a subtle power in those facts being unspoken. Luca thought back to words from his father, Lorenzo, The loudest man in the room has already lost, Luca. He is telling you he has nothing left but his voice. There was no doubt that as he grew older and so did his father, Luca would become master of the Corranado Family and Corranado Manor, but there was no need to say it. “Quietly, I’d hope,” the wizard responded to Harvey with a measured smile.
The Slytherin looked out of the window and noticed that in the distance, King’s Cross Station was slowly but surely coming into view. Looking back at Harvey, Luca nodded approvingly at what was likely his best friend at Hogwarts so far. He filed the Barrows boy in his mind as the more openly transactional and willing to bend the rules, but that was okay. Every dynamic needed to be multifaceted to succeed, and the one between Luca and Harvey was proving useful for the present and the future.
“I look forward to our time this summer! I think we’re almost home. Look,” the boy said, pointing out the window.

Harvey quirked a brow as Luca gave his thoughts on becoming an Auror. Not some high and mighty mentality where it's all law and order, black and white. Such hardline people were simply just hard to work with. Now, Harvey was pretty set in his ways. The boy loved his routine and certain standards just had to be upheld or they might as well be a bunch of muggle footballer goons, but other aspects of life needed a bit of fluidity. He had listened to his grandfather several times going on about how rules were more of a guideline. Knowing how to twist an turn them to your favor was essential to any successful person. It would seem that Luca knew this as well, but sought the advantage by learning the law first hand through practical experience. "More power to you then, my friend." Harvey wouldn't be caught dead putting himself out on the line of duty, but one day having an Auror amongst his circle did sound rather appealing.
"Yes, of course." Harvey waved away Luca's thought. He was not one to boast about his position or family business in public. There was no need when you wielded actual power, but he had no reason to be quiet about it when talking amongst friends. Harvey would be successful one day and with that would come wealth and influence. He wanted that for himself not just because it was expected of him. That sense of drive had been with him since he was just a young boy and those he counted friends ought to well know that. Harvey would not hide his ambition for the sake of others, but he conceded that there was sound logic to Luca's words. "But amongst friends, I will be open about what it is I am striving for."
Harvey's gaze would follow Luca's as the green fields of the countryside had slipped away to London's cityscape. The two shrewd minds were busy cataloguing each other away. Harvey was business forward, loose with the rules and settling into a moral gray area some might find off-putting. Luca was a bit more firm, but strategic and very logical in his ways of thinking. The two together could form a bedrock in which to build and gather others that may one day be a powerful alliance. "Goodness, home already." Harvey rose and began to gather his belongings. "An owl will arrive soon enough, Luca. Until we meet again." A proper handshake and then it was time to depart.

As the pair of boys spoke to each other in their private cabin on the Hogwarts Express, they shared a moment of enjoying watching the London cityscape grow as they got closer to it. Luca naturally took a reflective pause to catalog what little there was left to note about his first full and successful year at Hogwarts. The Slytherin had made measurable progress in his magical ability, made one or two acquaintances, and, more importantly, one strong friend. After the train started to slow down as it approached King’s Cross Station, Luca took stock of the half-Goblin sitting across from him.

He would surely mention this boy’s name to his mother and father once he got home, as it appeared their families may already be intertwined at higher levels than both boys realized. Burok had been the only name that Luca recalled, which appeared to be Harvey’s equivalent of his nanny. The Corranado boy suspected that the name Barrows would hold more weight with his parents. Luca recognized Harvey as a friend as well, noting that his mother’s influence appeared to be helping his social status and way with people.
“Yes, onward to home,” Luca said as the corner of his mouth curled up into a friendly smile. He thought about his father’s influence on how he carried himself, so he met Harvey’s handshake with a firm one for an 11-year-old boy. With that note, Luca followed Harvey off the train and went his separate ways, keen for what the summer held for him.
