2025/26 Hufflepuff v Slytherin, Match 7

There were many things Evpraksiya was dissatisfied with in the world and the result of her spell was no different. Unfortunate, but no different. She'd honestly need to spend more time in the duelling room after this, if for no other reason than to dispel the cloud of misfortune hovering over her— just like the one now hovering over the Hufflepuff team, she thought with some small amusement.

Round 2

Perhaps it was just a matter of it simply being a slow start for the younger years. Yet, he thought he knew the younger years of the school tended to be more competitive simply by nature of being the "youngest" among the students in general. No, no. Most likely it was just a slow start. Things would ramp up very very soon.

Alina tried for another dancing-feet charm, but the magic fumbled after the cast and spun its way towards her partner Amelia. While Amelia did indeed succeed in avoiding that accidental spell, it also happened to line her up perfectly for a double-whammy from both Luca and Livia herself after she tried to send an Obscuro towards Evpraksiya and unfortunately missed: blindfolded by Luca and petrified by Livia, she would stiffen up and then fall face-first onto the piste. Piérre would grimace sympathetically at the sound as he picked Figaro up and let his feline wrap himself around his shoulders.

Meanwhile, Minnie and Evpraksiya were on their own side-quests: the former attempted to send a gout of flame towards Livia in retaliation, which fell short of joy, and the latter tried for another blindfolding spell, which was similarly far off the mark.

"My my, we have some happy feet on this piste, huh." Piérre jested lightly, watching the match with keenly narrowed green eyes. "Who's going to mis-step first, I wonder...?"

He didn't have much time to marvel, however, as an arc of white light cracked through the air with the smell of ozone on its heels, striking poor Amelia where she lay petrified and entirely unable to protect herself. He grimaced again. Whuff... talk about bad luck.

MODERATOR NOTICE

I made an error during rolls that has impacted the outcome of the round due to the recent change of how Petrificus Totalus' petrification interacts with Metelojinx and a failure of the two spells to verify the new interaction.

Per the Patch: Petrification no longer prevents Metelojinx lightning from striking a player. Note: Metelojinx's spell in the dueling list has NOT YET been edited to reflect this interaction, which was the cause for my initial judgement to treat petrification on rounds in which the person was NOT freed from the petrification as being non-targetable.

Because of this, Amelia was struck on a 10% chance proc and suffered 170 damage. I do not believe this should impact the current deadline since it was caught early enough, but I wanted to post this to make sure all duelists impacted are aware. The moderation post has been edited to reflect this.

The events happened so fast… a spell came, not from the opposition but her very own side, just as she sent a spell towards one of her opponents. With a quick movement she managed to pull an artful dodge, which they managed too. Another spell flew at her. And another. This time she didn’t manage to maneuver in time.

Amelia felt herself fall, unable to move as a blindfold covered her eyes, shielding her into a terrifying coat of darkness. She wanted to scream, to yell to get out, but she couldn’t. None of this could get worse, only better right? Reassurances should have been helpful too, but the terrified second year seemed to be out of luck.

The vulnerable girl, lying with no protection at all, was struck by the angry cloud above’s menace. The terror was thickening by the second. She wanted one thing. To get out.

Evpraksiya's smile grew strained at the spell flying toward her, in her hurry to avoid it she didn't bother to check where her spell went. If there was anything that she learnt from last time, it was that endurance, was as much the name of the name as accuracy— neither of which she'd have if she hesitated right now. The black blindfold flew past her and Evpraksiya looked over afterward to check if her spell landed only to be solely disappointed again.
