Max was going to try to throw off the opposing center player, Devon. He skated at her with all the vigor of a Transylvanian Tackle-esque Roughing maneouvre, but unfortunately missed her by a wide margin. Luckily, it's not a foul unless it makes contact, so the referees didn't blow their whistles.Debuff Fouls
You could tell that there was no Snitch in this game, because four players - Wingers and Centers alike - went for the puck (Quaffle) with both goalies staying put in their nets, McCarty trying out a more difficult blocking maneouvre than Everdane. Westonfield-Rivera managed to snag the puck all five times, passing to her teammate Wallen, who scored once, then fumbled, and attempted three more score attempts, only one of which went in. Excellent multiple-time blocking from Everdane against a player two years her senior. Still, the Requested team was now up by two goals over their opponents. The Puck
Lee was the only one attempting any actual Beater-y/Defence-esque moves with a solid backwards high sticking attempt (Bludger Backbeat) at the opposing center player, Denise. Her backwards stick made contact with Yarbrough's shoulder, not a particularly strong move but causing a bit of damage nevertheless. The Defence
Outcome
Max failed to make contact with Roughing, so no foul
Ariana grabs the puck 5x and passes to Devon, who scores 2x
Chaewon backwards High Sticks Denise for 100 dmg

They had planned the first round so well, at least they had thought so. He started off with missing his move. He was supposed to do a Transylvanian tackle to throw off the third year from Ilvermorny. It was a good plan too! If she was distracted she would be less able to grab the puck and score.
As he skated close however, he was distracted. Perhaps it was the noise from the crowd watching. When he first picked it up it was quite distracting. Perhaps it was the opposing center herself. Max could not help but notice that she was very pretty. Her hair was just… He had no words to describe it. As he closed in the distance his attention drifted nonetheless. He forgot to correct his course and when he chose to swing in the hope that it might help after all, it went so wide it was embarrassing.
As both Rose and Denise failed to get a hold of the puck, he found himself helplessly watching as the opposing team tried time and time again to score. At least Harumi managed to wade off two attempts, and only two managed to sneak past her. He raised his hand for a high five as he skated by her. «Keep it up Harumi! We’ll get them sooner or later!»
It was while he was busy doing this that Denise was hit in the shoulder. His gaze zeroed in on Lee with a snarl. This would not stand! For a moment he considered throwing his stick to the ice and just storming the Slytherin girl. He thought better of it when observing that Denise was not truly hurt. Still, the snarl did not go away.
«Come on, we just gotta focus!» The comment was as much for himself to get it together as it was to encourage his own team. He himself found it difficult to believe. No doubts something had to change for this next round. Clutching his stick in a tighter grasp he braced to go again.

The first round just ended. It was such a failure. Rose was feeling disappointed with a mix of being useless and thwarted. She should be able to do something better next time.
Their opponents had indeed planed very well and were without any doubts stronger than them. Certainly not beginners at least most of them were not. Rose glanced at her teammates and saw Max who seemed to be as much frustrated as she was. They succeeded to score twice already. Thanks to Harumi it had not been more. Rose looked at her with an encouraging smile while Max gave her a high five. He was right soon or later they would succeed as well. They needed to keep calm and focused like Max stated. Even more now as they should be careful of their opponents' moves. To be honest they probably have been taken aback at least for Rose during the first round. However now they knew a bit better their opponents' strength and will be more on their guard.
Rose's eyes fell on Denise who had been hit on the shoulder by the defense's team. Thankfully it was not a big injury as it seemed but it could have been worst and next time too could be worst. Rose was feeling even more useless and helpless. She couldn't let her teammates being hurt or injured. Max too was angry as she could say he was refraining himself from any things that could be on his mind right now.
Rose breathed in and out to calm herself and focus for the next round while she went in her position ready to go again.

Maybe playing Ice Hockey was not so boring as Chaewon thought at first. How could she enjoy playing muggle sports? Playing on ice was a bit strange because the young girl didn't even know how to skate. However, she pretended to be the girl who knows everything, and she did her action, which was not very bad.
"Meh..." Chaewon expected to do more damage to a Hufflepuff girl, but she was only hit in the shoulder. How could Chaewon make a mistake?
The Vidler boy was a bit strange. Maybe Denise and Maximilianus were a couple? Maybe he didn't know the Ice Hockey rules? He seemed a bit surprised about Chaewon hitting Denise's shoulder. Maximilianus wanted to do a Transylvanian tackle, but he failed his move. Chaewon was not sure why he wanted to make contact with a third-year student.
"Yes!" Chaewon happily shouted. Devon scored twice! Their team was now winning and she was sure that they would win this game.
Their opponents were not giving up, and that was a bit worrying. Max even gave a high five to Harumi to cheer her up. But still, Chaewon was sure that their team would win. It's not very difficult to score, right?

────────────────────────────────The cheering from her teammates brought a smile to Siobhan's face as she realized they must have scored not once but twice! She was stuck in the goalie keep but she threw her hand up in the air excitedly as she cheered back towards her teammates. For knowing nothing abou each other, it built a warmth in her heart to know that they could function so well.
Siobhan only hoped that come an attempted score from the other team that she would be able to prove her own stance and place on this team. As a goalie- she was in the most vulnerable position and had very little freedom to move and send the puck back across the ice- If she left the trapezoid around her feet she would have a foul on herself and did not need to ruin this for her team. Though if anyone got too close to her- she knew that her best chance would be to knock them out of her goalie area and smack the puck back. She tapped her stick against the ice, back and forth to keep her arms open and alive with attention.
That toe loop she had done before had been a good defense but nothing had come her way. The sounds of blades cutting ice had been across the way but she could not lose her focus just because they weren't in her face. The moment those blades turned her way she needed to be on her guard. 2 points against 0 was not a large enough margin that she could afford to be any sort of distracted.

Harumi half expected that, not because she has a talent for divination, or because she thought her team was bad, but because the other team was probably more experienced, and certainly more grown, they have two from third year, one from second year, and only a single student from first year, her team was all from first year!
----This however didn't mean she was going to surrender, Harumi wasn't the kind to give up, if it didn't cost her anything to continue, then she will not give up, if she can't win she can at least learn something and have fun too.
----Besides, looking at the good side, she expected it to be far worse, she blocked two goals, and the opponents only scored two, this could have gone way worse.
----At least that's what her mind told her, but well, she couldn't help feeling a bit disappointed in herself, blocking only two goals? She should have blocked them all! She can't let her team down! But then again, she did well considering who she's up against, but no matter how much she told herself it's not her fault, the intrusive thoughts kept returning.
----Max skating by her made her return to reality, he raised his hand for a high five, she wonderd if she accidentally looked too gloomy, she wanted to look encouraging, she raised her hand and high-fived him, then smiled reassuringly at him, she felt better.
----Why was she worried anyway? Her team is great! And they're having fun, that's what matters!
----But that didn't last when she saw Denise get hit on the shoulder, she was worried about her, the injury didn't seem bad, thankfully, Harumi smiled encouragingly at Denise hoping she's alright.
----After she saw Denise get hit, the competitive spirit returned to her, she's gonna do her best for her team, she thought as she observed the opponents.

Oh, what great teamwork! Ariana was able to grab the puck for Devon. Not once. Not twice. But five times! Devon tried her best with the opportunities presented to her … and attempted five shots at the goal. Her first attempt was successful, and a smile formed on her lips. Her second attempt … yeah, no, it didn’t go so well. She fumbled. Rather, she decided it would be best to blame the other team … a boy, she believed to be a Hogwarts student … attempted to tackle her. But, thankfully, he veered off course from her. And yet, it was still distracting.
‘Focus … Focus,’ Devon thought, gritting her teeth. She then tried three more shots at the goal. At least these weren’t fumbles! That was … an improvement? Maybe? She hadn’t a clue. Still, two of them missed! One more was successful, thankfully! She grinned at scoring two goals. 2-0 was not bad for her first time actually trying ice hockey. She giggled at the sound of cheering from their defender, Chaewon. It was always great to hear! Maybe she should start practicing on her own at some point … maybe with her brothers … or sister? Or other students at Ilvermorny?
Regardless for now, Devon needed to keep her head in the game and her eyes focused on the puck. She wanted to help her team to win! Hopefully, this was to be the start of a successful match! At least … in her opinion!

Now, Denise wasn't used to losing. Probably, since she never played any sports, except for casual lacrosse in primary school. All the seekers and chasers, Denise included, went all out for the puck. At every time Denise and Rose tried to get the puck, the other team kept receiving it instead, and it scored once, failed three times, and scored again in the first round alone.
Denise was already nervous when starting, but now, her entire mood and confidence are destroyed. And well, Denise wasn't used to the "beaters" yet, essentially "attackers" in her opinion. The wizards sure love this "beaters" role, which isn't in Muggle ice hockey in the first place, and Denise felt like it was a useless and horrible role. While Max tried to hit Devon and failed miserably, Chaewon Lee, a first-year Slytherin, started to hit Denise, having her backwards stick make contact with Denise's shoulder, causing a bit of pain. Fortunately, Denise had very good stamina; she did grow up in the southern highlands in Scotland, but now, Denise had to deal with damage. And Denise hated this "beaters" role even more and decided to never join a Quidditch team or become a beater herself, so she doesn't have to worry about it.
On the bright side, Harumi did do a good job on blocking the puck, although they still lost, but impressive since the ice hockey player who scored was all alone. Denise was still very proud of Max, Harumi, and Rose for trying, though she saw the doubts and nervousness in their faces, and also that bit of anger when Denise was attacked by Chaewon.
Snap out of it, Denise! Denise thought to herself. She needs to be optimistic. Even though her shoulders hurt a bit, Denise positioned herself for the second round, ready to get revenge.

| xxxx | ───None of the others knew what it meant to play to win. No, the other team's winger and center were either too incompetent to put whatever skill they may have had to practice or merely careless about the final score. Ariana was different, though. She had drive, fire that would lead her to success each and every attempt of hers to grab the puck and pass it to her teammate, Devon. What happened next was out of her control, her teammate taking the lead and scoring two out of five goals. Apparently, Everdane was the only competent one of the lot, blocking what he could. The defender's name on their own team was Siobhan McCarty from Hogwarts, and seemed to be guarding the goals well despite the lack of opponents attempting to shoot a goal. No, there was only one other moment that piqued Ariana's interest, that being Chaewon, another Hogwarts student, high sticking Yarbrough. A successful move: the girl's shoulder was probably hurting quite a bit because of it. But no matter, for Ariana needed to pay attention to the match once more. They would win this match once and for all, whatever it took. And the moonchild would give everything she had. | xxxx |
