Welcome back. There are many things going on when you weren't here. In short, the updates are:

Spells and potions are itemized. So they aren't recorded in your Encyclopedia trunk anymore.

Spells and potions aren't automatically given when you're graduated. You can get them through homework system or buy them.

iNPC has separated account now. Check this if you want to register your iNPC back.

No, there's no thread for absent students to rp homeschooling or stuff to get charms and potions. But there's a thread if you want to catch the school year so you can be in the same year as your peers. Advancement Program opens in Summer holiday only (June–August).

Thanks so much! Can you expand a little on the charms and potions stuff? Like how can I buy them and other requirements?

edit: I found where to buy the charms! I still have two questions though:
1. what about the charms I earned before the system changed?
2. and the potions? I didn't find an instruction in the rules area

You will get them from Index team once you are re-registered to Official Index. They can see your Report Card to see which homework you have done and give the spells/potions that are taught in each lessons you have finished. You will also get some money from Welcome-Back Package from the staff in your re-registration.

There's no brewing system anymore. You will get them like you get the spells.

just to make sure: both potions and charms can be bought at fifth floor of hogwarts now. right?

There are two ways to get the spells and potions: doing homework or buy them. For spells, you're right. You can buy them in Fifth Floor. For Potions, you can buy them in Potions forum.
