For a heartbeat, his first instinct is to argue. It hadn’t felt like that much. The second string beater (@Nicholas McCowan) had seen him coming, And he hadn't even pushed the older boy off his broom. And his target had moved right on, going on to prove that he was utterly unbothered by what had happened.“Penalty lap, Sato, for cobbing.”
He doesn’t look at the referee. Doesn't look at the stand. His eyes are fixed on the beater. His grip on the broom tightens. It had felt good being in the action, even if it was in the air, and not on the ground where he could make the most of his unnatural size. For a fraction of a moment, he considers what might happen if he were to ignore the referee and sieze upon his target without holding back. Maybe he could break him, just like--
He clamps down on that thought so fast it almost hurts.
“Understood,” he calls out back to the referee, voice steady. They would get no complaints from him. And no excuses.
But inside, all he could think about was replaying that interaction. Over and over again.
He would do it better next time.

What the hell was he doing? Silas really needed to snap out of whatever this was, because he was playing pretty damn horribly today. It wasn’t like he cared about “letting down his team” or whatever — “team player” was not the first label that would come to mind when people thought about him — but he prided himself on being reasonably good at sports. Particularly football, yes, but the other Quidditch game that Oonagh had dragged him to had gone quite well for him, and he was also normally competitive when it came to such things. Instead, today, he was floundering, having contributed absolutely nothing so far.
Honestly, Silas had still needed more time to clear his mind even after the penalty lap had ended. Had someone asked, he would have claimed that he was looking for teammates to save so that if any of them were knocked off their brooms, they wouldn’t meet the same fate as Oonagh. But anyone who had ever interacted with him would surely know that was bullshit — he didn’t care about anyone but himself. And, now that Oonagh was gone, there was no one that he had any reason to even consider saving. He would watch every one of these strangers crash brutally to the ground without so much as a flinch. He might even smile about it. So, yeah, while he might have thought about saving one of them if they had fallen just now when he was doing nothing, it was unlikely to happen again.

Perhaps it was due to her excitement of simply being included and offered a place, even on a little makeshift team for an unofficial game, that had overshadowed her typical nervous nature. Regardless, it was quite the feeling to be admired for her perceived confidence when she arguably had no business being so, "I don't think there's anything wrong with still being nervous, even if you've done it before. That just means you still care about doing well." she mused.
Taliesin held her breath when one of their teammates suddenly fell from their broom. Quidditch really was quite a dangerous sport, after all. Sure, Taliesin had plenty of experience falling off things or out of tall trees... but off a broom in the middle of a Quidditch game was quite nasty.
She swallowed hard, clumsily and carelessly smoothing back damp curls out of her face. Their odds were starting to feel about as miserable as the weather, but they still had a chance, she thought. After all, they had a team of kids who were playing like they didn't know the definition of the word 'quit', and that was enough for her to maintain her confidence in her team.
They weren't beat yet.

Though he hadn't managed to get caught almost knocking one girl off her broom, Ginyami was not about to give up attempting to blatch opposing team members. No sooner had he lost one target than another came immediately to mind: Morris. If he could hardly stay on his broom, then what right did he have to be on one, attempting to play seeker for the other team? If this was really the best seeker they had, Ginyami was certain that if he got Morris out of the game, victory was all but his. Even if they had a second string seeker ready, what were the chances they were any better than their first string one?
Unfortunately, as the Mahoutokoro student soon discovered, Morris was a Hufflepuff and, like Hufflepuffs were famous for, very rich in friends. Instead of managing to knock Morris off his broom, Ginyami ended up colliding with someone else instead. That person he finally managed to dislodge from his seat, effectively knocking them from the game, but it hadn't been his intended victim. Foiled again.
He was so frustrated that he wasn't careful about his cheating and Decipio managed to notice, condemning him to spend the next round taking a penalty lap. The Japanese seventh year glared murderously at his opposing counterpart before flying off to complete his necessary lap.
All around him, players were falling out of the sky, left and right. Most of them seemed to be from the other team, though, Ginyami noticed. At this rate, he thought, they would manage to strike out the whole other team sooner than they found the snitch to end the game, but at that point, Ginyami didn't mind. If anything, he might even have preferred it. Let them all share the same fate they had thrust upon his poor, fallen Sara.

Reducio- In the role of Seeker when you have found the snitch, if someone attempts to use Alley Oop to help you find the snitch, you will not have disadvantage. However, with this broom you do not gain the +1 chance to grab the snitch for rounds that the Alley Oop is used. To clarify, each round someone attempts to grab a snitch they get a +1 to the attempt and this stacks. There is no bonus (or stack from this round's attempt to grab) to grabbing the snitch.
- In the role of Seeker, if an opponent attempts to Bludger or Blatch you, there is a 20% chance that you veer out of the way the last second and another enemy player at RANDOM is targeted instead.
Note: The new target still gets their normal dodge attempt. This is not considered to be an auto-dodge, in fact this roll is done before any accuracy rolls are done.
- In the role of Seeker, when using the search action if you critically fail on your search you get a re-roll in an attempt to find the snitch. In an attempt to grab the snitch, if you critically fail on your attempt to grab the snitch you get to re-roll your attempt to grab the snitch.

Or perhaps they were just so young and tunnel-visioned that they couldn't yet quite see the inevitability. Nevertheless, each team's bench boomed with ululations, all of which seemed to be directed at one player in particular. From Team One's bench, hollers and cheers directed themselves to their maiden keeper in an attempt to boost Livia's morale and confidence. From bench of Team Two, jeers and sneers worked to throw off her attention. The latter's efforts seemed just a little bit louder, but she was sure to hear it all. |

Unless they were particularly crafty, there was no subtle cheating happening. Evelynn had even gone so far as to check the quaffle itself for pocking, not entirely convinced that Silas wouldn't try to do something so underhanded. Even there, she found no evidence. |

DEBUFF FOULINGReducion/a
| xx | 𝔑ot that Silas would really find himself in a position necessary to manipulate. It seemed, for the time being at least, that they had resorted to more traditional roles. The keepers had taken up defensive posts at each of their respective ends of the pitch. And as the playing field tilted ever further in his team's direction and with the absences of Landon to monitoring the skies from below in preparation to catch any who might fall and Kiyoshi to his penalty lap, the quaffle was his for the taking—quite literally. As much as had been the case for Livia for a good portion of the game, Evelynn found herself effectively passing the ball straight to Silas. Then would come the face-off of the year. It was not uncommon for Livia and Silas to contest one another. Every member of the Headliner could attest as much. As articulate and composed as she generally tended to be, however, Livia generally held the upper hand. Yet here, in the air, quidditch cared not for silvered tongues or rueful looks. Athleticism, technique, and confidence ruled the skies. And here, it seemed, Silas would out-perform her. Time and again, Livia would find her rival racing up to challenge her for a goal. And time and again, the fast and precise slice of his quaffle throw would prove too much for her maneuveuring to overcome. Team One had enjoyed a handy lead early in the game, one that had narrowed significantly as Livia attempted to maintain that advantage against a more experienced player. And now, again, she alone submitted her best efforts to prevent any further loss of points. Unfortunately, it just simply wouldn't be enough. Silas would prove that not only was he not a useless blob good for nothing but aimlessly flying below his teammates and making an arse of himself with failed attempts to blatch, but that he was actually quite a good shot when permitted to perform his actual role as chaser. Moreover, between himself and Livia, he had proven himself the better and earned no small amount of bragging rights. |

While theoretically possible to keep an eye out for the snitch while making the perimeter of the stadium, there would be no way for either Evelynn or onlooker to note such a thing. And there certainly weren't any individuals breaking out into hectic chases. In fact, it was looking increasingly likely that the game would conclude before either team had found or caught the snitch and that it might once again fall on her to retrieve the blasted thing. |

SNITCH HUNTINGReducion/a
| xx | 𝔚ith only one beater left to the sky and only a single opposing team member not currently relegated to the consequences of getting caught cheating, it really wasn't hard to guess where Nicholas would be aiming next. Granted, he could have directed a bludger at one of the two flying a lap around the pitch, but Evelynn was certainly pleased to see that he didn't. Of course, that meant that poor Livia was once again on the receiving end of a heavy iron ball. Two of them, in fact. As though her earlier maneuvering had spited the animated, semi-sentient ball, the rogue bludger that had previous attempted and failed to connect with her looped back around in its arc for a second attempt. Without the added speed of a good whack from a beater's bat, though, it was severely disadvantaged, and she was able to dodge it quite easily. She was not, however, so lucky with the follow-up bludger sent her way by Nicholas. Be it luck or just natural skill, the manner in which he connected another backhand to send that bludger cannoning in her direction would likely leave many doubtful of his claim to inexperience in the role. He was a natural. And surely even the most unempathetic of the bunch (looking at you, Silas) would cringe at the bone-crunching impact with Livia's delicate form. The lithe young girl didn't even have a chance. Rendered instantly unconscious, she slipped from her broom, plummeting to the ground below. Fortunately, Evelynn was prepared and swift with her own incantation to lower her safely to the ground, diving down alongside her to make sure she was still breathing and to administer a quick stabilizing heal once she was safely rested on the grass before turning her over to the care of those on the ground and returning to the game. |

| xx | 𝔑ow, as much as Evelynn would have liked to have said both teams had seen the error of their ways and sought the great forgiveness of repentance, they had not. Or perhaps Team Two simply felt badly about having such a significant action economy advantage and so was willing to throw their players into a cycle of penalty laps in order to keep it slightly more even. That or they were just cheating little cheaters through to the end. Regardless, Damion would be the perpetrator this time, attempting to take advantage of Kiyoshi's lap-racing vulnerability. In a clear attempt to try to knock the larger pupil from his broom, the Ravenclaw charged at him. And missed. Which was honestly probably for the best since one could only imagine that a collision with Kiyoshi would likely feel like running into a brick wall. "Dragonclaw! “Aww man what!” Damien sighed when he heard he has a penalty lap, this was his first ever penalty lap in a qudditch game ever, he could have sworn he wouldn’t have been caught but he was and it didn’t even matter much as Kyoshi was still in the game but he didn’t complain as it was to help his team as he noticed that Nicholas had manged to take out Livia which meant there was only four members left on the other team which meant they stood a better chance at winning now. He decided it was better to get the penalty lap over with so he could get back in the game and help his team do well. Right now the score was 90 to 60 so if they could push the momentum a bit and manage to get a few more points or even the snitch it be good for them. He hated having to do this penalty lap as he wanted to badly continue playing in the game to try and help his team but he knew that his team had everything under control plus even though he failed to take out Kyoshi eventually they would drop with the rest of there team he just needed to have hope and believe in his teammates which he so while they focused on the next course of action Damien would focus on his penalty lap. |

The dark hair girl watched and waited, eyes flitting across the field as she attempted to remember everything she could about how to help the team win. She had a decent vantage point where she was at, allowing her a view of a majority of the field. Still, as her eyes focused on one area, it would be pulled away by a sudden movement out of the corner of her eyes. The girl had managed to keep herself focused and not over-think so far. Doubts still ran through her head, but they were much quieter than they had been and easier to keep at bay.
As she watched, Aziza's hands gripped the handle of her broom tightly. Her fingers flexing against the wood causing her knuckles to turn pale against the pressure. The Ravenclaw girl used the motions to ground herself, ironic since she was currently floating quite a ways off the actual ground. She really had nothing to worry about, and she knew it. Her teammates were doing quite well, at least better than the other team who seemed to only have a few people left in the game. Maybe, if the dark haired girl did well enough, maybe she would actually be able to help her team move to victory.

Watching the sky, she noticed that the chaser from Team Two had scored 50 points. The figure of him was somewhat familiar. Though she had no time to think about it, she quickly invested in cheering for Livia. “You got this, Livia!” Rosaline exclaimed, hoping the girl in the sky could hear her. The reality was cruel. Livia successfully dodged a bludger hurtling toward her. Rosaline cheered loudly, “Go! Livia!” Then, another bludger got sent to Livia by the beater of Team Two. The poor girl couldn’t evade that heavy iron ball and fell to the ground. Rosaline winced at the scene. She really didn’t like this part of the Quidditch, but it was the thrilling part of the game, too. The audience must love it. Perhaps it was like gladiators fighting in the Colosseum. With two of the three remaining opposing players stuck running penalty laps, Mamori shifted his attention to the only soul still free to move on the field — some pathetic firstie keeper who looked about two strong winds away from collapsing. Cupping his hands around his mouth again, he yelled: "Yo twiggy! Maybe bulk up a bit before playing with the big kids? One sneak attack and you'll snap like a dried twig! Actually, scratch that, you look like a sneeze could take you out!" Not that Nick was executing a sneak attack; the team's grand tactical plan had assigned him backbeat work this round, though the threat of a more devastating move ought to get into her head. Psychological warfare and all that.
And would you look at that, here comes another odd link between Mamori's jeers and whoever he picks falling apart right after. The firstie keeper kept failing to block shot after shot, letting Silas breeze through with five clean goals that finally shifted the scoreboard their way, before Nicholas cracked off a backbeat bludger that knocked her out cold.
Maybe the pink-haired captain had stumbled onto his actual talent. Mamori gave half the credit for their current round of success to his superior booing technique and as he patted himself on the back (metaphorically, his arms weren't that flexible), a backup career plan began taking shape — if the job market proved difficult after graduation, this twelve-year-old second-year with delusions of grandeur could always send his CV to various clubs as a professional heckler specializing in demoralizing opposing aces.xx ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────

Louca was pleased to see that his efforts to jeer and downplay the opponent’s ability seemed to have some sort of effect on the other team. Though he did have to cringe when the target of his negativity ended up being hit with a bludger. It was the name of the game, but he knew how hard those could hit, and how sore she would likely wake up unless healed. So far though, it didn’t seem like that was something he would need to worry about. For the moment, their team’s seeker didn’t seem to be the target, and he hoped it would stay that way.
He was pleased that they were ahead, but now he wished they could capture the snitch quickly. Otherwise, he was concerned that their luck could turn. But that was for wiser minds then him to decide. He instead would relish the time on the sidelines and keep doing what he could to support his team. It would help to keep him warm, and he wasn’t sure if it increased his engagement even sitting on the sidelines, but better to believe that than think the opposite. Perhaps he could influence the game from down here as witnessed by the bludger hit, he was totally going to take minimal credit for. He chuckled quietly, knowing he hadn’t influenced things that much.
