Emma was bored, couldn't focus and had briefly thought of writing her parents or siblings or heck both. But she had used most of the excited energy she had had to climb up to the owlery, only to realize that she had forgotten quill and parchment. So instead, she decided she would just visit with Tiny and any other owls who wanted company. It hadn't been too hard to find her exuberant owl, a little tennis ball sized fluff who made it's excitement known that it's owner had come along. Emma was divebombed a few times by the overexcited fluff ball and she couldn't help the laughter that echoed out as she finally managed to catch Owlbert gently in her hands. "Well hello to you too. Never change!" She exclaimed. Transferring Owlbert to her shoulder, she stroked the feathers gently as Owlbert nuzzled and nipped at her ear.
Looking around, she tried to decide where to go, and decided she might as well head for one of the windows looking over the Scottish countryside. Moving towards the other side of the tower, she carefully maneuvered around some owls that were swooping in and out. Sighing as she got close to one of the windows, she calmly stroked Owlbert, her own little talisman of joy today.

Visiting Owls
Date : September 24th, 2025 Color code : Written|Thought|Said Sere went up to the Owlery to send a reply letter to her grandma. The contents ranged from trivial matters such as her overall-good feeling, the pressure and excitement of starting the school year with two additional electives that... hopefully she wouldn't regret, to more timely matters such as the upcoming Fall Ball: the pirate theme that made the Gryffindor hesitate to attend this year's Ball because she didn't have any outfit matched to the theme.
While writing down all the details needed before sending her letter, Sere heard an exclaim and laughter a few distance from her. After handing her letter to be delivered, Sere turned and looked around, searching for the source of the excitement.
There weren't many students in the Owlery on this Wednesday, and Sere immediately identified the owner of the voice: a familiar girl. Having been on the Gryffindor duelling team for more than a year now, Sere had naturally memorized the rosters from every house, especially her peers and seniors. Emma Wynn was one of the seniors. Hufflepuff duellist, fifth-year if Sere remembered correctly.
"Hi, I see you're having a good day," Sere held her breath while saying. "Oh my gosh, such a beautiful view." She wasn't just referring to the autumn landscape of Scotland visible from the window beside the badger; but how Emma, her red hair, and her pet owl looked so perfectly in harmony with the scenery. If only she could capture the view in a photo.
"Ah, right! Introducing myself... I'm Sere Nade, third-year of Gryffindor." Sere created a little smile. "Emma Wynn, right? And... what's your name, fluffball?" She kept that smile while bending a little bit towards the tiny owl.Interacting with : @Emma Wynn

Emma smiled calmly as she heard a voice calling out. She wasn’t entirely certain she was the target, but it also felt weird just ignoring it. Worse came to worse, she awkwardly smiled at a stranger who was really talking to someone else. But mention of a beautiful view, Emma had to admit made it clear that she was being spoken to.
Checking out the person more, she had a vague sense of recognition but couldn’t really place them. That usually was the way of things. She could recognize faces, but names meant she would have actually had to meet them a few times. She was glad when Sere introduced herself. “That’s a pretty name.” She said, smiling wider and turning more fully to Sere. “Right! How’d you know that? I mean, sorry, I do recognize you, admittedly can’t recall from where.” Emma asked curiously.
Now she was on more comfortable turf. Emma never really knew how to keep conversations going and not falling into an awkward pause, but her tiny owl friend was one of those topics she could talk about frequently. “This is Owlbert, say hi Owlbert!” She held her hand up to her shoulder and encouraged him to climb on to her outstretched finger, carefully moving him when he had settled himself. “He’s an eastern screech owl, and admittedly he can be a bit of a tennis ball, bouncing around.” Do you have an owl?

Date : September 24th, 2025 Color code : Written | Thought | Said Sere thought about it. How did she know Emma Wynn? Right, she obviously knew her because Emma was a duellist just like herself, but when did she know that Emma was a fifth-year and the fact that she was a Hufflepuff? Who knows. Maybe Sere had passed her on her way to Duelling Club or on the way to the the locker room. Maybe heard something about her during her excessive times over the piste, or even watched one of her duels. "I recognize you as a fellow duellist. Although I am still new and it's an honor that a senior recognize me."
"Hi, Owlbert!" Sere held back her hand from touching the super cute Owlbert. She didn't want to startle the owl. "Isn't he a little bit tiny compared to other species of owls?" She examined the eastern screech's size. "I love minis! I don't have an owl, but I do have a bunny named Buddy. He's a mist hopper. He's also considered tiny compared to his friends from other species."
Sere looked at that beautiful scenery once again,"Do you always play with Owlbert here? I mean, isn't it tiring to walk up to this high place to meet your pet? Especially since he's this cute. There's no way you don't miss him often. Or do you both have another usual place?" She folded her arms, "But the view is indeed amazing from up here." She felt that the tiredness could be paid off, at least half of it, only by gazing at the view and the other half was probably paid because of meeting the tennis ball Owlbert.

Emma nodded, that sounded right. Duelling meant she interacted with several of the different years in her own house, and it would not be surprising that she would recognize Sere given that they participated in the same sport.
“He is! He’s about 8ish inches, and as you might be able to tell he’s not very heavy at all. Honestly, I love that about him. It makes it easier to interact with him, and less intimating for sure. I couldn’t resist him at the Menangerie.” Emma couldn’t say that now she was used to the other owls, they were intimidating but the fact that they were so much larger, and had such larger talons made her question how other students interacted with them. She much preferred her ability to cuddle with, and carry around Owlbert. Especially on those days where she was having a rough time.
Emma exclaimed Oh! At Sere’s words. She still held Owlbert on her finger, and her first instinct had been to clap but that would have likely resulted in Owlbert sulking after his shocked reaction. Moving her finger up to her shoulder, she waited for him to shuffle there, before clapping her hands together. “Could I meet Buddy sometime? He sounds lovely and I must admit I’ve only seen bunnies from afar.”
Shrugging gently, she didn’t succeed in not annoying Owlbert. But he showed his displeasure by softly pecking at her ear. “Ouch, sorry Owlbert.” She said, rubbing her ear. “Sometimes he’ll come find me in an empty classroom he knows I like to study in or if I’m out on the grounds sometimes, he’s found me there as well but typically I walk up here. I like the walk honestly. It gives me time to think, and mull things over I guess.” Sure some people might think that was weird, but walking and thinking could be a boon. Though other times, her thoughts were much more difficult and tended to go off track, causing her mood to be worse. But that was where Owlbert came in. He was able to usually help with her more difficult moods.
