XXXThe night Eonaria returned to Hogwarts, she slept very poorly. She didn't understand why, she had just laid on her bed for hours, staring into the darkness with a very clear mind that didn't seem to be dozing off anytime soon. She eventually woke up in the crisp morning, later than usual and in a very grumpy mood. Her eyes felt awful, still laden with poor sleep. By the time Eonaria forced herself to get out of bed and head down the many, many stairs, she had become convinced that the only thing that would fix this dreadful morning was some extremely cold milk.

XXXHowever, just as she turned to sit down at the emptiest part of the table-- as she did not want to socialise on very little sleep-- Eonaria caught sight of familiar brown hair at the Ravenclaw table. All grogginess immediately forgotten, she rescinded her plan to mope by herself and became determined to mope beside her best friend, though not before a proper greeting.

XXXEonaria dashed around the table, completely ignoring a few looks that some firsties may-or-may-not have shot at her to wrap her arms around Brie's shoulders from behind. "Goooood morning!!" She cheered happily. At this point, who cared? It wasn't like the firsties would remember her. Hopefully. "Guess who??" She had gone a very long summer basically seeing no one, being limited to the sight of her very fluffy and cute cat and her brother's lectures. Eonaria grumbled internally at her parents for the abominable crime of forbidding her from attending summer camp.

XXXShe plopped down beside Brie, making sure her hair was not in immediate danger of getting dunked in a beverage or Brie's very elaborately decorated oatmeal before burying her face in her arms on the table, releasing a long suffering sigh as the weariness crashed back down. After all, it would be very unfortunate if her newly-dyed strands of hair got ruined by food of all things. And Eonaria quite liked her shiny new shade of blue.

XXX"I haven't seen you in forever!" Eonaria declared, sitting back up and sweeping her hair back over her shoulders just in case some food managed to attack her in the form of a spill. "I demand you... uh... wait..." she tried to think of a good way to end the sentence. "...never mind! How have you been?? There." She nodded smugly. Perfect, hehe.

XXXEonaria grabbed a nearby milk pitcher and poured it calmly into a glass until it reached the very top, setting it back down without spilling a drop. She was basically a professional pourer of excessive amounts of milk. It was her go-to drink. Sometimes. Most of the time? She solemnly sipped at it very carefully like this was the most normal thing in the world, closing her eyes and nodding.

A Treasured Reunion PV Sabrina
It was a rather resstless night for the young raven. There was just so much on her mind — too much to let her body rest, making her all tense and uncomfortable. No amount of dramatic tossing and turning or groaning into a pillow managed to help and so, with dawn mere minutes away, she finally gave up, fishing out a book and a candle out of her shoulder bag.

She had zero recollection of falling asleep, but she must have at some point, since after one particularly longer blink she noticed that the sun was suddenly up. She decided to have a very slow morning, partially because of her long night and partially because the thought of a large group of people made her weirdly anxious. By the time she finally made her way into the Great Hall, most of them were already gone, which was just fine and dandy with her.

Dragging a bowl to herself as she sat down, she began loading it with all sorts of things — oatmeal, nuts, an apple she half-cut half-crushed with one of the dining knifes, honey... Just as she was about to dig into her masterpiece, a foreign pair of arms wrapped around her own, squeezing out a choked shreak out of her. The now trapped raven instinctinctively leaned back into the figure, looking up at it, her hands clasping over the attacker's elbows when — a spark of recognition vaporized all of the confusion from her wide eyes. The one standing behind her was no stranger at all, but rather her best friend: "Nari!"

Relaxing into the entanglement, Brie beamed up at the Griffindor until she sat down next to her. Chuckling at her dramatic sigh, Sabrina pat her friend's back in silent companionship. She let her hand rest on Nari's back, affectionate as always.

"Eternity", she agreed just as dramatically. Reaching for her spoon again, she managed to almost choke on the first bite of her food, too amused with her friend's struggle to speak to hold back laughter. Everything seemed so much lighter and brighter with Nari by her side.

"Just awful, with you not around," she complained dramatically, wiping off an invisible tear, " really, what kind of pen pals are we - not sending one owl all summer long."

XXXEonaria huffed in mock-disappointment when Brie almost choked on her oatmeal. "Ah! How dare you make light of my struggles!" She turned her nose up with an exaggerated hmph, though it didn't prevent the giggles spilling from her lips.

"I see you are arranging a 5-star breakfast of, well, everything," she commented, blinking at Brie's food. "What on earth happened to that--? Apple? Is this apple? Some other poor fruit massacred at a time of day much too early?" Eonaria fluttered her eyelashes. "I do pity you, Sir Apple. Alas, you have been sacrificed at the whims of our lovely Lady Sabrina. Perhaps your comrades would do well to steer clear of her vengeful hunger."

XXXEonaria nodded along at Brie's lamentation. It seemed that the perfect cure to exhaustion was some good, old-fashioned speak. Ahh, how I've missed this. It was so nostalgic, the perfect Hogwarts refresh. Of course, it was no doubt that she would likely crash later on in the day, but it was fine. That was what naps were for, of course. Now, which class did she want to pay the least amount attention in today...? "I was under the impression that the-- Wait a minute. What's a pen?" She blinked at Brie. The word was vaguely familiar, tugging at the edges of her mind. Eonaria had definitely heard it at least once... or twice... somewhere. The thought was just barely in reach, and yet she couldn't grasp it fully! Ugh! Maybe it's something Muggle.

XXX"Eh... anyways! You're right, we didn't send even a single owl! I mean, I sent a lot of owls... uh... not to you..." Hmm, that probably wasn't a very good thing to say. "...no offense..." She blinked at Brie hopefully. "I promise I'll definitely remember to send you owls the next time we have a break! Christmas break?" Eonaria paused to ponder it for a moment. Would her parents let her stay at Hogwarts this time? Maybe if she convinced them she was responsible enough? Would Raiame put in a good word for me? Her brain immediately responded. No, absolutely not. She deflated a little. We'll see.

"And I see you stay true to your wild belief that food in a morning is optional" Sabrina returned playfully, "seriously, how do you function during the day?" she added, her mouth already stuffed with her, as her friend put it, 5-star breakfast and man, did she mean every muffled syllable she spoke because it was delicious. Or at least until Nari continued, then it turned a bit bitter in her mouth.

"First of all, ew. No need to personify my food, Nari. Second-" she cleared her throat, transitioning into the mockingly aristocratic accent associated with their familiar bit "if we cannot but explore thy mindset, then we shall do just that, with the at most presission. Moving past the obvious defect in thy worries, being the fact that these fine men- "she said, pointing at a plate with untouched apples-" would have been dead upon being separated from that what provides them with life, a tree, my admittedly hunger driven ending of this Sir Apple "- she continued, now lifting a piece of the aforementioned cut-up apple with her spoon-" can be seen as an act of mercy. Why? Well, not only does he die a martyr, a hero with legacy far outliving his lifespan, but my actions save him from a fate far worse, the fate of all his uneaten fellows - being thrown out, left to rot alive. Fading away in agony until death claims them," she concluded her speech whilst remaining eye-contact, shoving the spoon in her mouth once more. Smile wide again, the ravenclaw shot her friend a confused look.

"What do you- oh. Oh! Yeah. Sorry, yeah," she laughed, shaking her head, the sudden realisation amusing her, "a summer spent amongst mostly muggles does things to you, I didn't even consider you might not know. I mean, I though you- nevermind. Pen is something muggles use instead of a quill. It kinda looks like a pencil - do you know what that is?? - but with a cap and made out of plastic. It has ink inside, and doesn't smudge as much as the one we use. I am sure I have some in my room, I'll show you one next time we hang out," she promised, hoping Nari now had at least a vague idea what she meant or that it jogged her memory. Surely she must've seen it at least once in her life, right?

"Eh... anyways! You're right, we didn't send even a single owl! I mean, I sent a lot of owls... uh... not to you..."

"Okay, ow" Sabrina chuckled, the sound a bit strangled. Sure, the comment was funny but it still stung. As if summoned by it, her anxiety did a little twirl in the pit of her stomach, making itself known once more. And although unpleasent, it did steer Sabrina's trail of thoughts in a different direction, towards certain goals and hopes she set on..

"Yeah, most definitely," she agreed, moving on to an idea already forming in her mind, "Hey, would you want to hang out? Like, as soon as possible? Not right now unfortunately, I am pretty sure that classes start in a few minutes, but as soon as we are both free. I think we really ought to talk plus, I might need your help with something. We coul go to Hogsmead?" she raised her brows, bringing up an old promise made by the girl sitting next to her.

Edit: I mixed up pen and pencil- oh well, it's fixed now

XXXEonaria made a noise of protest when Brie commented on her lack of breakfast. "Heyyy, it's just too early to eat, okay? I eat dinner and then, what, do my homework and go to sleep? That's just not strenuous enough to make me hungry in the morning!"

XXXEonaria listened in bewilderment to Brie's response, as she had absolutely zero clue was she was talking about in the first part. Explore my mindset? My mindset about what? Breakfast? She quickly became relieved when the sentences transitioned into something she could understand. "Well," Eonaria said sulkily, trying to hold back laughter at her best friend's dramatic description of Sir Apple's alternate fate. "I suppose your most eloquent words have stumped me, my lady. However, I would like to point out a contradiction within your proclamation. Upon Sir Apple's separation with the tree, which as you pointed out, means death, he surely can no longer feel the agony of rotting away." She grinned cheekily.

XXXEonaria tried to visualise what a pen was, but didn't quite get it. "Oh, okay," she mused. Although she was very sure that learning about Muggle things would do her little good, at least it might be interesting to learn about their technology. But the mention of a pencil definitely stirred something in her memory. Pens and pencils were both writing utensils, evident by Brie's comparison of them to a quill, and... didn't the caretaker have her use some sort of odd writing instrument during her detention? "Is a pencil like a... wooden stick with a coloured coating on top?" The stuff that had scraped onto the paper definitely hadn't seemed like ink.

XXX"No, no!" Eonaria squeaked. "That's not what I meant! I didn't send any owls to anyone from school, so please don't get the wrong idea!" She covered her face with her hands, cheeks turning pink out of embarrassment and panic. Her tendency to ramble on about anything and everything had led her to send quite a few to her cousin, and honestly, she thought he might be a little annoyed by her now. "Sorry about that though," she mumbled, finally raising her head.

XXXThat aside, she perked up immediately when Brie started discussing another time to hang out. "Oh, sure! What do you need help with? I think I'm always free after classes end, and..." she tugged out her schedule, almost crushing the parchment. "Oops." Eonaria flattened it out again, lamenting that it wasn't pristine anymore. "Em... we might want a little time to get used to all this homework again, so maybe Thursday evening? But if you want to go to Hogsmeade, my weekends are definitely open too!" The Hogsmeade offer was placed rather tentatively, as she was still a little paranoid about getting caught after last time and she definitely didn't want to start off her second year by landing herself another detention.

Sabrina was more than ready to further argue her point that 'breakfast was essential to having a succesfully lived day' but alas, given her lack of means to do so with her mouth almost always full, had missed her chance, the conversation moving on to other topics. Usually, she wouldn't allow such a thing, jumping back into the verbal fight right after swallowing however the confusion painted on her friend's face captivated the witch's mind long enough to drop it. At least for this morning. Besides, something told Sabrina that the argument may have been one of those frequently revisited and rarely won.

Thinking back to her own jumbled-mess-of-a-word-vomit her head tilted to a side, brows drawn, "My sincerest apologies, my lady, for i believe what thee graciously labeled to be my most eloquent words was nothing but a mere bable of a fool, greatly out of practice in conversing. You see, I've tried to point out the fact that there had been a certain shortcoming to thy previous belief when thee had claimed that my endevors have resulted in Mr. Apples agony. An argument you yourself have now also raised. For if Mr. Apple was dead all along, my teeth would cause him but a little harm to his appeal," she attempted to explain herself, her struggle evident from how focused she'd sound. It was true that she had gotten out of practise, her conversations focused on vastly different topics all summer long, all media she had consumed made in recent years and mostly in a none-written form. She really ought to find an ancient dictionary or something.

"Yes!" the raven's smile widened when Nari's memory jogged, presumably thanks to her rather confusing yet apparently afficient explanation. Spoon laxly stirring through her dwindling breakfast, Sabrina eased at Nari's next words, relief softening her features as she took another bite. She had, in fact, taken her friend's poorly chosen words to heart, internalising them as if the negative interpretation was the only one there was. But it wasn't, and judging by how genuinely sorry she looked, her bright eyed companion didn't even consider what horrible impression said words could've given. Although she might've not realised at this point, wouldn't find the words to express it, Sabrina was truly grateful and so, so lucky to have such a friend. One who was honest with her, who openly cared, who would overexplain and repeat enough times for the raven to have no doubt that what they had was real. That they were best friends. "It's okay, I know you didn't mean it like that," was all she would say, her smile betraying all that she didn't.

As if to prove the point of being just the most wonderful person under the sun, Nari answered Sabrina's eagerness to meet-up with immediate proposals of possible times to do so. Snickering at her schedule antics, Sabrina took the few seconds to ponder her next words, something she rarely had the time or awarness for. The truth was that she needed help with dealing with her social anxiety. Not even a week before, the gray-eyed girl had made a promise to her slightly older cousin that she'd work on it, seek out school events and talk to new people. Back then, hiding under an oversized table with their pinkies interlinked, it felt like the easiest thing to do, especially if she had a friend who'd be by her side while she did it. Now, with the bitter coating of confession around her tongue, even admitting it felt impossible. So, when it was her time to speak, she made the split-second decision to fabulate. "Why not do both? We could hang out Thursday evening and go to Hogsmead on the weekend, eh? And I need help with planning a tea party, actually. For my birthday?" it wasn't really a lie, persay, but that didn't stop her from momentarily wincing, her expression giving away exactly how unsure with her own words she was.

Searching the gryff's face for any sign suspicion, her eyes caught on the hair framing Nari's face and - oh. "Merlin's beard!" a piece of nut almost fell out of her mouth as her jaw went slack, eyes widening. How has she not noticed sooner? "Your hair!" she exclaimed, free hand reaching out to lift the strand that caught her attention, "it's blue!"

XXXBrie did not seem like the type of person to babble like a fool, persona or otherwise. It was likely Eonaria's overemphasis on output rather than input over the summer that caused her failure to interpret her words properly. She did tend to work out her own frustrations by describing the situation in this manner, but no one at home entertained her antics.

XXX"On the contrary," Eonaria said solemnly after the misunderstanding was cleared up, "this breakfast arrangement could be considered a dishonourable desecration of Sir Apple's body, a rather dreadful alternative to what would have been a natural decomposition alongside his loving family." She picked her words carefully, hoping to avoid any tongue-tying incidents, though it was proving very difficult to keep the smile off of her face. She absolutely loved these silly conversations with Brie, taking up personas and discussing lighthearted topics as if they tipped the scales of morality. Eonaria had also heard that this was a very good way to settle arguments peacefully. "Truly, this dilemma is one to be pondered, perhaps by those far older and wiser than us," she mused.

XXXAs Brie turned back to her breakfast for a moment, Eonaria took the moment to drink the rest of her glass of milk. She could drink water any other time of day, but milk seemed to be only available during breakfast, which was a bit sad. She considered milk to be a 24/7 drink. She beamed back at Brie when she placated her in turn.

XXX"That sounds great!!" She wasn't very used to having so many things planned out in one week, even after a full year at Hogwarts. Boarding school was an odd experience, both freeing and restrictive, and Eonaria wondered if it was finally time to take full advantage of the absence of her parents. No doubt she'd manage to do something disappointing, and here she was, planning to have fun with her best friend without even attending her first class of the year yet. Her expression fell slightly, but she cleared her throat and fixed her posture. "Oh! It's your birthday this month? That's right, I didn't meet you in time for your birthday last year!" Eonaria huffed slightly. "I'm glad we can celebrate it together this year, of course I'll attend!" Her mind was already racing to what she could gift Brie for her birthday. She absolutely loved picking out gifts for her friends and family, and a tea party sounded like an excellent way to celebrate. She loved tea, too.

XXXEonaria jumped slightly when Brie exclaimed, "Merlin's beard!", jolting her out of her thoughts. Her friend reached out, pointing out the thin yet distinct section of blue framing her face, and she blushed slightly. "Oh yeah, it's blue," she echoed lamely, a grin forming. "Does it look good? I was wondering if the green had suited my eyes better." Perhaps she should change the colour every year. "I had it dyed last month, for my birthday." On the topic of birthdays...

Once again, Sabrina lifted her spoon, now a little higher so she was eye to eye with the object, or rather the little that still remained, of their interest: Sir Apple, the fruit given soul by two sleep deprived students. For a second, Sabrina pondered if they could actually lend him life. With magic, most of the figurative could become literal, right? Adding that to her growing list of 'things to look up in the library' Sabrina turned to her alive companion.

"May be so," she nodded in careful agreement, "perhaps he could be both a victim and a martyr. After all, what is a legacy if not a twisted truth turned into a tale of heroism?"

Even though it was rather enjoyable, it seemed that their conversation was arriving at it's end. As if thinking the same, her friend attempted a conclusion to it, but, provoked by the slight distrust in authority that came with being a teenager, Sabrina began to speak almost before Nari could be done with it,

"Oh no, hush, you shall not think nor speak that way, m'lady! With all due respect to the elders, it's the voices of the yough that pave the way to our fate. Therefore, we shall not be ashamed of or refrain from speaking our minds and pondering dilemmas," done with her improvised speech, and with her breakfast, the small raven took a swig out of her claimed cup of tea before adding, "although you are right in that the ponderig of the dilemma regarding Mr. Apple can be left for another time."

Preoccupied with her own thoughts, Sabrina failed to notice her friend's change of mood, only looking up from her cup at the mention of her birthday, "Yeah, on the 19th, so we still have enough time to -" agree that a party was a stupid idea and cancel the whole thing, " - to plan." She looked back down at her cup, taking a quick sip. Merlin, she struggled at the mere thought of the event. How ever will she survive it? At least Nari agreed to go. That was a little relieving. Just as was their change of topic.

"Yeah, it is," Sabrina agreed with a chuckle, before gasping "you kidding? It looks awesome! And I wouldn't worry about it not going with your eyes, I think it doesn't make that big of a differance " in all honesty, she wasn't sure she knew her friend's eye color until today, "although now.." she trailed off, suddenly reminded of another friend of hers with blue streaks in her hair. Another friend she didn't initiate contact with all summer (@Avis Marlong). Maybe she could invite her to the party, too? Her head spun for a moment, a strange fear awoken within her at the thought. Maybe not.

"Anyhow, I think blue is the coolest hair color there is," she mused, twirling a strand of her own hair around her finger.

"Oh, happy belated birthday! When was it exactly? I'll shoot you and owl next year!" she said, smiling at the though of her small owl carrying a heavy box with whatever gift she'd come up with until then. Finishing her tea, Sabrina reached for her satchel, "The classes will start soon - we should probably go" she announce, almost apologatically. Despite it, standing up, she didn't make a a step towards the exit. A part of her didn't want to leave this moment, her friend, with whom everything seemed easier, lighter. Her arms wrapped around Nari's shoulders, embracing her for a few seconds before pushing away again. "See ya on Thursday," and with that she was off.
