Breakfast Time Friendships
6th September 2019
Leanne had gone down for breakfast around 7 in the morning that day, expecting to find some familiar faces in the Great Hall. But somehow... she was still earlier than everyone she knew. Even Harper, her Hufflepuff friend that always was earlier than her, was missing, and she couldn't spot her familiar brown hair in any of the tables. Sighing, she walked down the aisle of the Great Hall, wondering where she would sit.
She spied a group of students, (firsties, she deduced from their fresh looks) not far from her, sitting at the Hufflepuff table, and casually listened to their conversations. There was two girls and a boy, all from different houses, eating quite peacefully in the table, discussing about food. Leanne beamed. They seemed like a friendly bunch, and wanting to make more friends, she excitedly hopped over to their table.
"Hi! Could I join you guys?" she asked. "I'm Leanne. Leanne Chua, by the way. Nice to meet you!" She stretched out her hand in response. Turning to the brown haired girl, she smiled, and replied that she too, enjoyed hot food over cold food.
I'll prob type longer responses, once the conversation really starts.

May smiles at the new arrival as she takes her hand and shakes it.
“Hi nice to meet you too Leanne! I’m May Kingsley by the way. Just in case you didn’t hear.” She sheepishly says while releasing her hand. Seeing that the girl is also short as herself and beamed. Maybe there is still hope for her to grow taller than the others. In a joking kind of manner. She sees that the girl looks slightly younger than they do and is surprisingly small for their age. Not that she can she much seeing how she’s a bit bi-curvier than most. Also seeing that they had similar brown hair and smiles more. Most girls she’s seen back at her hometown were flaunting their natural hair look. Having shaved their hair in styles that she never imagined to be done with her own hair.
May glances at the crest to see that she too is a Ravenclaw like Adriel. May scoots over enough for her and pats the seat.
“Kept it warm for you.” She jokes taking her plate and replacing the empty spot with a clean new plate.
“The food here is fantastic and surprisingly hot. Almost seems like magic is what’s keeping it hot but what type of spells would they use?” May exclaims looking at the food on her plate curiously as she pokes a piece bacon. Seeing that it’s still warm before she takes a bite of it.

Adriel smiled at may listening to her questions and comments. "You know I'm really not sure what's in the gobelets. Some of them are frothing which is pretty strange but I bet they taste great. I'm really hoping for something raspberry flavoured or maybe a nice lemonade. Right now I really just need some milk. My favorite breakfast item is usually blueberry muffins but I love bacon, sausage, waffles, cold pizza, cereal.." Adriel was gushing as she named off all of her favorite foods. It was really hard to decide on just one when there was so many different options. However, when it came to the debate of hot vs cold Adriel knew where she stood. "Breakfast is most certainly a time for hot foods. It's what gets me awake and ready in the morning so of course I'm going to go with hot foods" Adriel chuckled to herself it was then that she saw another student approaching out of the corner of her eye.
She looked like a Ravenclaw which was perfect. Adriel had been hoping to make some friends from her own house. The Ravenclaw made it up to their little group and said "Hi! Could I join you guys? I'm Leanne. Leanne Chua, by the way. Nice to meet you!" She outstretched her hand in greeting and gave may a smile. She had said that she too enjoyed hot foods. "3 out of 3 votes for hot food sorry cold food looks like your beat." Adriel thought to herself. May was the first to shake Leanne's hand and introduce herself. She scooted over to make room for their new arrival.
Adriel then stretched our her own hand to greet Leanne. "Hello fellow Ravenclaw, my name is Adriel Greynore but feel free to call me whatever you like." Adriel gave her a welcoming smile. Then turned her attention back to may.
“The food here is fantastic and surprisingly hot. Almost seems like magic is what’s keeping it hot but what type of spells would they use?” May asked the group as she poked at a piece of bacon.
"I think the whole feast was produced through magic. I don't know what spells were used but I would love to learn them."

Leanne smiled graciously as she accepted a hot plate of food from May. Taking a quick bite of the fried egg, she savored the delicious taste of the food. The food at Hogwarts was always so tasty, she tried (tried is the word) to refrain from gobbling all up at one go, but in the end her plate was empty again. Taking a wholegrain bun (the best bun ever!), she listened to girls' conversation.
After May, a housemate named Adriel was the next to welcome her to the table, and Leanne gave a cheerful wave back to the blond-haired girl. It seems that they were talking about charms used to enchant the food, a topic that she was so intrigued by. Having devoured her first-year textbooks and had read a bit further while she was at Flourish and Blots, she considered herself quite versed in Magical Theory. "I think there's a Warming Charm on it, a spell used to warm students' bodies in the cold winter. I've heard it is a third year spell, so I don't think we'll learn it so soon."
"But I don't think that the whole feast is made by Magic." she frowned, replying to Adriel's statement. "There's probably a kitchen somewhere in Hogwarts, and the food could have been sent up from there." Leanne had heard about the existence of the kitchens from an older student, and she longed to discover its location. After snooping around in the night for a few days, she had yet to find out where it was. One day, I'll finally discover where you are.
Drinking a sip of orange juice, she helped herself to another bowl of cereal. "But I wonder...what if the menu could be changed? What if we asked the chefs to make something special one day? Special food, like fluffy raspberry pancakes...and chicken porridge?" She expected the table to roll their eyes at her last comment, so she clarified.
"My mum used to make chicken porridge for breakfast when I was back home, and we would add the anchovies, the crushed peanuts, spring onions inside...she would always have this fabulous oily sauce that we added..." Leanne paused, wistfully thinking of the delicious food she once enjoyed. If only she could enjoy a variation of it at Hogwarts, that could ease away some of the homesickness she had... The thought of it brought a sudden idea to her, as her face lit up with joy.
"Hey guys, I wonder if one day we could have a picnic together, and share with each other all the homemade food we used to eat at home...maybe at the Great Lake, I suppose." Leanne asked.

Adriel looked at Leanne puzzled as she explained that a warming charm was placed on the food but the meal itself was made in a kitchen. "So what your saying is that there's lots of people in a big kitchen somewhere cooking all of this. That's...incredible! I have to see this kitchen and the skillful cooks behind these foods I have so many questions!" Adriel felt a new surge of energy course through her. There was a kitchen somewhere in Hogwarts. Maybe it was run by house elves she had heard about them from other students.
"But I wonder...what if the menu could be changed? What if we asked the chefs to make something special one day? Special food, like fluffy raspberry pancakes...and chicken porridge?" Adriels mouth watered at the mention of raspberry pancakes but she had never tried chicken porridge before.
"My mum used to make chicken porridge for breakfast when I was back home, and we would add the anchovies, the crushed peanuts, spring onions inside...she would always have this fabulous oily sauce that we added..." "Ohhhh." Adriel thought to herself. "I love raspberry pancakes. My dad used to make them everyday for me I haven't had them in a while though. Once you eat the same thing everyday it just doesn't taste to good." Adriel shook her head with a sad sigh. "I've just got to hold off for a while and then they'll go back to tasting great!" Adriel grinned at the group already imagining her first bite. It tastes like a little slice of heaven.
"I've never had chicken porridge before but it sure does sound good. I don't particularly like oily sauces but that's probably because I've never had one that was made properly. I bet if we found that fabled kitchen we could ask them to make some. I myself would love to try it." Adriel pulled out a small planner from inside her torn robe and began scribbling down times she could go out to search for the kitchen. "What times are you guys free? We could searching together." Adriel had suggested with a warm smile as she continued writing. She kept an ear trained on Leanne as she continued talking. There was a whistfulness to her voice that Adriel wondered about. "I wonder what she's thinking. Maybe about other dishes her mom made her...I really miss my dad i hope he's doing alright without me." Adriel stopped writing for a moment to look over at Leanne.
"Hey guys, I wonder if one day we could have a picnic together, and share with each other all the homemade food we used to eat at home...maybe at the Great Lake, I suppose." Leanne had what Adriel thought was a hopeful look on her face. She spoke so genuinely and with a kind smile. Adriel grinned this was it this was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
"My dad likes to make pumpernickel bread and cinnamon butter. It's nothing grand but it's one of my favorite snacks. Meal wise I really miss his Shepard pies... Those are the things I want to bring to the picnic. I have the recipes written in one of my notebooks. If we find that kitchen maybe the chefs will make our favorite homemade dishes and then we could have the picnic!" Adriel was beaming. Her hands lifted into the air in a little cheer.

Breakfast Time Friendships
May listens to each of the replies and conversation as she smiles warmly, hearing something a bit personal which meant that this is the start of a blossoming friendship. She can’t wait to write to her father telling him that she already is making a few friends. All which are nice and welcoming. Different houses but that’s okay because diversity makes it so much interesting to learn different things about each other.
“A fabled kitchen....” May rolls the words off her tongue as if sampling it before grinning.
“Why don’t we just find out ourselves about this supposed kitchen....” May suggests carefully as she can. Maybe even find some cookies or snacks for later or throughout the day..Maybe have to smuggle some if she has too. May thought to herself before hearing both what their parents used to make for them as she hums in delight and could tell they were starting to miss the homemade cooking. As an idea pops in her head as she stood up and plants her hands onto the table. Looking between Adriel and Leanne.
“Even though I can barely reach the top of shelves but I will find this kitchen that you speak of and make you two your favorite dishes just the way your parents made them!” May declares a grin beaming on her face. A bold statement but she wanted to do something for her newfound friends. She wants to make most of what this school can offer. Even if they ban her from the kitchen or she gets in trouble she will make up for it. Somehow. Someway. She wanted to cheer up her friends and make them happy for the beginning of this year. This will be her first gift to her friends.

Leanne grinned, listening to May's enthusiasm for finding the kitchens. "I've tried a few times, and I still haven't found it...but I wish you luck!" She gave a thumbs-up to her wavy-haired friend, thinking of all the suspicious things she had found while looking for a suspected doorway to the kitchen. Other than a few banners, some stone statues...the only thing worth mentioning was a picture of a pear, placed awkwardly between a sea of portraits. She frowned. A small picture like this couldn't lead to some secret entrance to the kitchens. It's way too small to even be a gateway, and besides, what's the chances of the entrance being there? In the end, she kept her thoughts to herself, not mentioning this secret.
"...I love raspberry pancakes. My dad used to make them everyday for me I haven't had them in a while though." She heard Adriel comment, and agreed wholeheartedly with her answer. Raspberry pancakes were the best! There were so fluffy, so soft that they could melt in your mouth...the thought of it caused her stomach to growl in anticipation, even though she had already eaten.
Leanne then heard that May had volunteered to make the dishes that they were talking about. "Thanks so much for offering to make our favourite dishes, May!" Leanne replied to the Hufflepuff, a broad smile displayed proudly on her face. "I'll probably owl my parents for the recipe and pass it to you once I get it." They wouldn't take long, she thought. Mum always likes to share her cooking recipes with everyone, and she wouldn't mind me sharing it with my friends.
"I'll be glad to help you make the dishes if you ever find the kitchens! However, my cooking skills are almost nonexistent and I can't really do much but the basic needs." Seeing the astonished looks from her new friends, she giggled. Chucking and throwing her hands up in the air, Leanne clarified. "Really! I almost burned down my friend's kitchen because I almost forgot to turn off the gas."
"What times are you guys free? We could searching together." she heard Adriel ask.
She looked at her scrunched-up schedule, its print too small to read. "I'm free after classes end for today, I guess. Maybe we could meet up somewhere and search for the kitchens together."
"What do you say, guys? Shall we, the three musketeers, snoop for the kitchens today?" Leanne asked, giggling all the way.

Ivy had awoken later than usual that morning, which was rather unusual for the girl, whose body ran like clockwork. This threw her entire morning off balance and put her in an exceptionally bad mood from the start. Her roommates had also been rather sullen and uncooperative, only angering her further. One quarrel and two ripped library books later, the Gryffindor found herself in the Great Hall, wondering where she would sit. A group down the end caught her eye and as she neared them, she realized she recognized one of the voices.Interacting with @Leanne Chua, @May Kingsley, @Adriel Greynore and @Wyatt Allaway
"I'm free after classes end for today, I guess. Maybe we could meet up somewhere and search for the kitchens together. What do you say, guys? Shall we, the three musketeers, snoop for the kitchens today?" the decidedly female voice said. Ivy looked closely at the back of her head and recognized her as Leanne, one of her classmates.
"The kitchens are really hard to find," Ivy cut in stiffly. "Sorry, but it's true. Only staff members and house elves know the exact position. Oh, and hey, Leanne." The aristocratic pureblood slipped into a spare spot next to Leanne, observing the others in the group as she did so.
Leanne was not the only Ravenclaw - a green-eyed girl with a pair of blonde, feathery plaits was also clad in the house's signature blue robes. There was a Hufflepuff in the mix as well, a cheerful, plump girl with brown hair. Ivy arched an eyebrow. What an... interesting group. She briefly wondered how they'd gotten together before deciding she didn't really care. "Ivy Bellamy. Pleasure," she said, nodding at the two strangers curtly.
It was most certainly not a pleasure - nothing was that morning - but they didn't need to know that.

Adriel perked up all the more "The three musketeers! She called us the three musketeers! She wants to be friends! This is great now I have someone in my own house to help me navigate this place!!" Internally Adriel was ecstatic with the new found friendship. It was clearly evident on her face as she grinned. She was about to eagerly agree to searching when a new girl arrived. She had long brown hair that fell to her waist in lovely waves. Her eyes were gray but there was nothing dull about them. They seemed the type to pierce through somebody and cut right to their soul. She didn't look to happy.

Adriel wasn't to sure how to feel about her but she wanted to be friendly none the less.
"Pleasure to meet you as well Ms. Bellamy." Adriel gave her a warm smile. "My name is Adriel Greynore and you seem to know quite a bit about the kitchen. Maybe you would be interested in helping us find it? If not that's alright I still want to search for it even if we won't have any luck. Leanne I'll happily join you as a musketeer!" Adriel declared excitedly. "I'll bring a notebook along so we can mark of areas where we've searched."

May nods as she squeals in delight feeling beyond happy hearing her response. As she sits back down and eats a slice of bacon.
“We shall but this bacon is so unreal though.” May comments as she glances up to see another girl approaching the table.
“the kitchens are really hard to find....sorry but it’s true. Only staff members and house elves know the exact position. Oh, and hey, Leanne.” The girl says as she sat by Leanne and May could definitely sense that this girl probably is the type to send people running but probably has a soft spot somewhere.
Then hearing what Adriel said as she nods in agreement.
“I will join you also Leanne! And we shall be the three musketeers unless Ivy wants to join then we could do four. Would you like to accompany us then Ivy? Since you seem to know a bit of knowledge of this kitchen...Also my name is May Kingsley pleasure to meet you as well Ivy.” May says as she reaches over, offering her a handshake and warmly smiles at Ivy. Despite Ivy’s appearance May thinks she isn’t all that bad even though she has a different personality but sometimes maybe we all need to be friends with one another. She just sure hopes she doesn’t get on her bad side. Her father always said even the ones who put up a front could always use a friend. She tries and live by her father’s words. Rather than being ugly and unfriendly when there is already enough of that in the world. Choosing to be kind and friendly is better alternative than to e like everybody else.
