Houses of wood, thatch, clay and stone line the mountain ridges all above Omah Geni. These places are more magically enhanced than other homes on the Isle, making them feel more accustomed to western ideals of comfort. Still they burst with life and nature and all have a unique sense of charm to them. Souring up above in the trees they feature similar designs to more advanced tree houses before burrowing into the mountain side for more space, making use of the natural caves.
Date: January 3rd 2026Sometimes serenity wasn't just a state of mind, nor was it something easily earned. Occasionally it had to be fought for, it had to brandish you into a weapon so that in becoming steel you may once again find softness. Nikolai Mikhailovich Volkov knew that better than most, it was ingrained in his DNA, from birth he was to follow the path predetermined and become a weapon like those before him. Irony was a clever spirit of mischief and it loved to meddle in affairs; so irony turned him into a weapon but not as he was intended, rather than a blade it made him a pen. It gave him a voice to oppose those who had failed to forge him and made him cut deeper than any blade.
Serenity was the feeling that now lived in each and every vein of the Russians body, mirroring the vibrance of the vines that draped over his balcony. The raw emotion of it making him stand taller, so filled with the valour of pride and accomplishment. The burdens of fighting no longer heavy upon his shoulders. Gone was the shell of a corpse that bloodily stained Durmstrang's soft velvet snow last year; bled away in only memory, the boy that now stood nestled in among the lush landscape of the Isle of Divination looked well. Truly well. His frame had filled healthily, his hair once stark platinum had taken the suns blessings and renewed itself with golden locks, and most importantly his smile was once again returned.
Staring down at the festivities below he leaned across his balcony eyeing the crowd for his friends, many he had not seen in months. The anticipation of it like an itching under his skim, ravenous and all consuming but never for a second negative. What felt like a lifetime ago Nikolai was a broken boy who after finding the strength to take on injustice, discovered that such impact had consequences. He had moved into protective custody with the Russian ministry for months ensuring his safety against the threat of his family. It was a necessity, but a torturous one. Of course they had letters, transported through third parties, but it was not the same. He yearned to be reunited, to be wrapped up in their arms once more and feel the rush of warmth surge within him.
Having arrived a few days earlier than most, Nikolai had made himself right at home, every nook and cranny had been explored from the ancient tomes to the thermal spring baths. Growing up where he did with the limitations he faced, the Isle was like something out of a novel. His smile grew as he wondered if Hans would have the same thoughts as himself. Comparing the mystical isle to that of Dagobah the fantasy planet Yoda had been a recluse on. Hans books served as his best friend when he couldn't be there himself, they reminded him of their bond when everything was at its most dire. It was the reunion he most looked forward to.
Though there was also another flutter of excitement that danced across Nikolai's healing mind. Having arrived so early he found the room assignments and was rather giddy about the presence of some unfamiliar names, Devon, Reyna and Linda. He had memorised them of course, positively brimming with ecstasy at the thought of making new friends and socialising with people of his own age, people unburdened by the tragedies of his past. Unsaddled in the knowledge of him. This weekend was about restoring bonds and discovering new ones and he couldn't ask for anything more. So as he watched down on the chaotic stream of arriving visitors he sat back in one of the many swinging hammocks and waited for fate to send him a blessing. To finally open his life back up to new beginnings and put behind what was broken, what no longer served him so that he may start again. Fresh, and free.

High within the overgrown tree canopy, a small little ball of black fur was tucked into a crook where two branches met. A long, plume-like tail slipped down, its end twitching once, twice in a lash of irritation and restlessness. His slumber had been interrupted by the unmistakable sound of footsteps belonging to the people who would be his room mates for the next few days.
The cat's ears flattened against his head. "Mrrr..." A low rumble rose from his throat, less of a hiss and more of a sound of annoyance. His cold blue eyes narrowed at the 'intruder'. The fur on the scruff of his neck stood at an end.
Felix Kolbeck, Hexwizard survivor, secret lover of all animals, and eternal grump, used his delicate feline limbs to hug the tree tighter. The Swede should have known better than to come on this trip, but it was hard to resist the opportunity to spend time together. He didn't realize he would be signing up to spend the entire duration of his trip fucking BABYSITTING.
To make matters worse, the humidity was doing a number on his hair. This was ridiculous. It was WINTER TIME, the sacred season. It was the time of year when everything was wonderful and frozen; he could bundle up in his lined jackets and had an excuse to keep Greta in his arms. Instead, he was out at Tenusa sweating his fucking balls off.
He just had to keep reminding himself how much he loved Greta, because why else would have dragged himself into his hellscape? But if he did that, he'd hyper fixate on how he hadn't technically told her he loved her yet, and that brought up an entirely new set of problems.

Not only was this trip supposed to be an open house of Tenūsa, but there was also the promise of the guests staying in homesteads! Devon was absolutely excited for such an opportunity! The Isle of Divination was already promising to give her good memories! Or, at least, hopefully good memories. She had assumed Hogwarts would give her good memories … but it was a mixed result thus far, unfortunately. Then again, she was simply a young third-year. There was plenty more time left to hopefully uplift her spirit.
Apparently, there were even multiple designs for homesteads! Apparently, there were plenty of opportunities to help the guests be comfortable in their stay. From the information she had received, this homestead was a High Houses style. Based on her limited knowledge that she could glean, these didn’t appear too different than some homes in America. Although, to be honest, her Muggle home in New York City was an apartment… crammed with her three older siblings. This homestead type gave her memories of skyscrapers and other large buildings in the city.
Of course, however, Devon was staying at a magical school. There would be, with no doubt, various enchantments and charms. However, it also appeared to be more like a … tree house? She never had one of those … but she had seen pictures! And a few students from her muggle school had mentioned them in passing. Naturally, the homestead was also teaming with nature and life! While she found herself enthralled with the idea of Divination, she equally liked plants, as well! Who wouldn’t, after seeing such lovely, magical specimens?
In addition to the information about the homestead … there was also limited information about the other students Devon was supposed to share the homestead with. Sadly, she didn’t recognize a single name, which was very understandable. While she tried her best to be a social butterfly, she was well aware that it was often difficult, especially when there was a language barrier. But, she wasn’t the type to write things off before at least going there and attempting to communicate. From the winter season she had left in America, she was very surprised by that 180-degree change in weather! Not that she minded. She adored wearing sandals and relished the opportunity to continue doing so.
The young Horned Serpent arrived at the indicated treehouse-styled homestead, within the tree canopy. It was definitely a welcome sight. With a smile, she skipped through the door and into its inner rooms. Her satchel bounced at her hip. She wanted to be friendly to the other students and hopefully grow more connections!Reducio

As a broom racer you accumulate a wide range of skills. Anything that ranged from the speed of sweeping through the sky to the faith in one’s own broom. It is not one called a learning but rather a honing of natural instincts made for the skies above. As much as it may come as a surprise to some, stealth was one of those skills. After all, the art of going unnoticed by both opponents and living obstacles took its own strength.
Hans had always been a person with the utmost confidence. He would extend a hand to a complete stranger, would relish in the sea of a crowd before him. It was a self-assuredness that hummed through his very bones as he walked, guiding his gait. Always with his head tilted upwards in pride, his arms casually at his side and his chest breathing a steady rhythm of ins and outs. It was the stride of a boy who had every belief in himself. He never slouched, never crept, was always the lion rather than the mouse. Therefore, you would never catch him sneaking.
Today, however, he was making an exception.
Before he could admire the magnificence of his lodgings he had spotted Mister Nikolai Vol’ka. Blonde hair a brilliant gold in the sunlight, he could imagine his blue eyes, icy only in colour and no longer in spirit. Despite parting for months, despite only seeing his back and his shadow, despite the distance between the door and where he stood at the balcony, Hans had recognised him in an instant. How he wished to surge towards the boy and wrap his arms around him, to give him all of the love that distance had failed them.
But, he thought pointedly, patience was of the essence.
He had been patient long enough. It had felt like an eternity since they parted, as if it was still years ago when he had ran upstairs with tears of not quite joy, not quite sadness in his gleaming eyes to fetch Nikolai’s camera for their record of evidence. Their separation had felt miserable, and words could not have described the cold, empty air that hung on Nikolai’s side of the room. Once he had thought his late night readings a disturbance—now without the flickering candlelight his heart felt especially dark.
The wood, to its wondrous credit, managed not to creak under him as he neared his best friend. As he entered the balcony he imagined Nikolai’s thoughts, looking over the milling of people. Perhaps he still believed Hans was down among the crowds, still searching for him. But he knew, in whatever universe, they would always find each other.
Running the last few steps as he utilised the element of surprise to his advantage, Hans let out the breath he had been holding as he put his hands over Nikolai’s eyes, a flutter rising in his stomach. Then he pressed his body close to the boy, uttering the drawn out, enthused words, “Приветтттт, Коля!1”

Date: January 3rd 2026A feint purring had the Russian swinging from his hammock retreat and eyeing suspiciously about the room While his heart was a great deal eased from the traumatic events of his past year his paranoia still lingered in the deepest of his wounds. It would be a long time until he would let go of mistrust and see the world only for its blessings, but he mustered through and was determined to try. Scanning the room his vision found the peculiar sight of a rather familiar feline. Though the cat had never been seen before by the boy he was quite sure there was recognition between them, his fur being so unique and the hiss riddled with the signature Durmstrang brooding. If it wasn't so outlandish he might've believed the creature to be Kolbeck, but given he didn't have a death wish he wouldn't be calling Felix a pussy anytime soon.
Light trickling through the canopies high above his eyes left the familiar feline as a hand rose to block the rays from blinding him. It had been so long since he had been able to really enjoy the outdoors that he couldn't quite imagine wanting to shade from it. Still with the lack of exposure his custody had allowed him, some things still required adjustment. Still their were far more interesting distractions to come. With an energetic push of the door a young girl burst into life with all the vibrance of the sun itself. Nikolai felt his heart began to rush with panic and anxiety but he quickly quelled it and a large smile broke over his face as he realised the company was not one he recognised. While his heart faltered slightly that it was not the rich hazel eyes that could put all the bark of this jungle to shame he still felt the excitement of a new chapter beginning.
Rushing over to her he smiled brightly at the girl who's outfit was of a fashion much like Hans own. Perhaps she too was a halfblood or even a muggleborn, both would be exciting, both would have him as a captivated audience, filled with questions. How long it had been since he got to ask someone else questions and not answer the barrage and onslaught of the Russian ministries, he thought sombrely to himself. Reaching out a hand with a bit more timidness than he had wished, he let out a small cough and spoke in English, though with a more Americanised twang to the accent, "Pleasure to meet you, my name is Nikolai. I know we have just met but I would like to say that I am very much looking forward to this weekend and I hope that we may become good friends." Then gesturing to her outfit and satchel he smirked and added, "you clearly have good taste, so hopefully that applies to friendships too!" There was something wholesome about his reconnection with humour, like a missing soldier returning.
Pointing over towards one of the large sleeping alcoves in the cave like interior he continued to smile and said, "Take whatever bed you want, you can leave your stuff their and then you should come check out the view. This place is unlike anything I've ever seen, and trust me I've seen a lot." With a slight blush he hoped that his excitement did not come off as condescending or too much, but he just couldn't resist the desire to be seen. In the girls eyes he wasn't some broken kid, or righteous fighter for justice, he was just a fellow student and wizard and maybe that was enough.
Leaving her to unpack he made his way back to the balcony and let the delicious aromas of the feast below sink into his nostrils and let out a sigh of relief. There was a serenity to the space, the quiet murmur or voices and performances below did not break the immersion of the atmosphere. Birds chirped above, leaves rustled with light bouts of wind and the gentle running of waterfalls all combined in a soundscape of peace. Such distraction and stillness gave Hans all the cover in the world to sneak up behind him and enact his surprise. There were few people in the world that would not have suffered a blowback from approaching him in this way, but his best friend was without a doubt one of them. For when those hands covered his vision and brought him to the dark, he did not feel anything but safe.
From the scent of his aftershave, to the calloused marks on his hands from years of broom racing training, and most importantly the soothing cadence of his voice, Nikolai did not need to look to see who had approached him. Did not need to feel worried or scared for he was in the arms of his knight and protector, someone who had fought for him day in, day out when he didn't deserve it and when he did. A figure so instrumental in the young Russian's life that he could no longer envision a world without him. The distance had been torturous, but the reunion would burn all that away. The smile on Nikolai's face grew tenfold as he spun around, lightly pushing Hans off him in false protest before grabbing him by the scruff of his shirt or jacket and pulling him into the tightest hug imaginable. Desperation clinging in each finger, begging that they never let go, ever again. It wasn't just a hug, it was a lifeline, a thank you, an I've missed you so much.
When he pulled away Nikolai's eyes were already glassy with tears, but not like the ones he had grown knowing, that Hans had dabbed away more times than he could count. These tears were nothing but happiness. Fumbling over his words he spoke with a slightly thicker, older Russian accent than he used to have, "Привет, Ганс" The longing stare between them spoke so many words and while his mouth was barely able to speak under the boy of their reunion he knew the words he had hoped to use as they had laced his dreams for months. "мы никогда не расстанемся, не разлей вода". It was combination of two Russian proverbs that spoke of the inseparability of the pair and a devotion that they would never part again. More than a promise or a declaration, it was a hope and a wish, a need to be preserved. Nikolai had plenty to let go from his past, but Hans Jenssen was most certainly not one of them.

Reyna hadn’t been particularly inclined to come to Teñusa but when she had heard that her parents would be over at her grandmas place to help comfort her at the end of the holidays, she immediately told her parents that she would be going on the trip to Teñusa. There was no way she could stand being in the same house as her Grandpa had been before he died. Too many memories. She hoped that the trip to Teñusa would clear her mind, bring back her happiness. And she was going with her best friend Linda, so that was a plus. As Reyna approached the homestead where she would be staying with Linda Reyna smiled. The old her would have been screaming from joy because this place was hands down gorgeous. The homesteads in particular were gorgeous. There were three options but her dorm mates had decided on the high houses option. And now she was standing in front of them. The high houses matched their name. They were high, almost like a treehouse, nestled in the branches. Made from timber, woven thatch and stone they were attached to the mountain. From where she was standing it did not look very comfortable, however Reyna was sure due to some magic, it would be very comfortable inside. Those were the beauties of magic. As Reyna stepped inside she realized that she was right. The place was very comfortable inside. Linda was not quite here yet but Reyna recognized Hans, from her grandpas funeral, from the ball in the autumn. He seemed to be with his friend from Durmstrang so she just offered him a small smile. The rest of the people in the dorm Reyna did not quite recognize, the friend of Hans, an older guy, and a younger, cheery girl, but she hoped that maybe she would get to know them. For now, she settled in one of beds with a sigh and a small smile. She was just waiting for Linda now. She prayed that she would have fun, that this would be worth it, and that she would find herself feeling better than she had before. |

Hans was fully prepared to fake offence as Nikolai pushed him off. A playful scowl already played at his lips and he was about to throw out a good natured insult but Nikolai, as always, cut it all off without even being aggravated. He was so good at it it was infuriating. Grabbed by the scruff of his shirt Hans would have never have allowed himself to be handled in such a manner if it were not for Nikolai on the other end. Instead, his eyes only glimmered under the sunlight, piercing blue reflecting in their rich brown. Pulled into the tightest hug of his life he offered no protest and wrapped both arms around the boy immediately as if he were the only thing that existed anymore. Heads locking into the crooks of each other’s necks as if they were a pair made conjoined together, they seemed to be a perfect, sole figure in the late afternoon sun. His lips parted once more, this time lighter, quieter, but with the same fervour only for the obvious to spill out. Yet as Hans pressed his body against Nikolai’s with the same brotherly love that had never died, it was worth the extra breath. “Я скучал по тебе, Николай. 1”
After a long embrace, the two finally pulled away.
“Привет, Ганс.”
His accent had gotten thicker, deeper, and despite still fumbling over his words at their reunion the maturity that had snuck up on him over their separation was the first thing about his brother Hans noticed. The boisterous, energetic greeting returned by a heartfelt, heavy counterpart, his features no longer carried the same boyish grin it did as solemnity washed over him. Yet there was not a touch of love lost to the tropical winds as something softer crept into his eyes—something rawer. Something that reduced him to the same boy who had comforted him on the many sleepless nights.
With a touch of yearning still in the air between them they locked gazes, as they had countless times before. Vision falling over the sheen of gloss over Nikolai’s eyes of such a beautiful blue, his heart melted just as the boy had into Hans’ arms. “Weine nicht, Niko, 2” came the soft words in his mother tongue. They were not the reassurance that had slipped out of his lips each disparaging night as he cradled him in his arms but as a lump built up in his own throat a gentle reminder that he did not want his own tears to fall today. As a single drop streaked down from the corner of Nikolai’s eye Hans raised one hand, shaking slightly with elation, to brush it away. It was the familiar motion of his thumb lightly over his bottom lid, yet it no longer carried the same burden that had always weighed them down. Hans’ lips spread into a smile, small, gentle, genuine. Tone tender, voice slow, he whispered, “Bewahre sie für einen anderen Tag auf. 3”
A glint of gold struck across deep chocolate brown eyes as words that seemed to be long rehearsed slipped out of Nikolai’s lips. “Не разлей вода,” he agreed, voice firm as the Russian proverb settled between them—you can’t spill water. A silence lingered between them, the same silence that had hung there as Hans had hugged him, wracked with sobs, all those months ago; a comfort with so much trust engrained into it it need not be expressed in such a thing as words.
Hope was such a fickle thing. So easily was it shattered yet it was everything while it was in tact. There was still a wariness that lingered invisibly in Nikolai yet if there was one thing Hans knew about his brother it was that he always knew how to turn towards the light. The only way to step out of the darkness was to have faith in life, to see beauty where others only acknowledged rot. Despite being born out of unforgiving midnight he had clawed his way up through the abyss and into the brightness of a sun as radiant as today’s. In exchange for an unimaginable pit of dull nothingness he had found a plethora of colour, and the future only promised a forecast of double rainbows ahead. The storm had passed, and with the raindrops it had left in the earth, out grew a garden of flowers. If hope was truly as fragile, then Hans was determined to protect the helpless.
So, instead of settling on the past and the time they had lost, Hans took a few steps away from Nikolai as a playful grin tugged his the sides of his lips upwards. He extended a hand and bowed dramatically as they fell back into their song and dance of jests and teases, “Do I have the honour of walking you indoors, mein Eisprinz 4?”

Tenūsa event came out of nowhere and Linda didn't have any intention to go. However, soon she changed her mind. Her bestie was going to be there and so she had to go too. She had a weird feeling, for once not feeling that happy. There was something with Rey and while Linda was guessing what happened, it was only a guess. She didn't know anything.
This trip Linda didn't take much with her. Just a small gift for Rey, her favorite blanket and everything for drawing. She arrived quickly to the place where they'll be staying at. Wearing sweatshirt and trousers she didn't look happy. Her eyes were looking tired and worried. Her face didn't carry any expression. However, it changed to a light smile once she stepped inside.
The place looked good. She got used to magic that makes the place look more spacious from the inside. Nothing was outstanding for her, or perhaps it was just because she didn't feel like looking around. She stood there for a second, placing the light smile on her face and hoping to look happier than she felt. After that she looked around, feeling confident that Reyna was already somewhere here.
She found Rey and sighed in relief when noticed a free bed near her. There were other people too, none of them that she knew. It was going to be challenging. But maybe she'd spend happy time with Rey. She put her things near the bed and took out a small bracelet, along with a small bouquet of knitted flowers and a knitted toy in the shape of a dog. Hey bestie. This is a small gift for you. Sorry if you had to wait for me. With a light smile and her hand outstretched to Reyna, Linda spoke softly, hoping her eyes were showing something warm and at least somewhat happy. It was a chance to know what happened, but more than that, it was a chance to spend time together again. And she didn't know what she was waiting for more.

As Reyna unpacked her things on the bed she had claimed, her toiletries, some clothes, her small blanket and her favorite stuffed animal, she saw Linda enter the room with her things and she smiled. Linda took the bed beside her and began to unpack her own things. It was nice that she was here with her and Reyna was excited that they could be together, and hopefully relax. She wasn’t sure she would be able to sleep, since she could never sleep nowadays, but she hoped that maybe she could push all the bad, depressing thoughts out of her brain, and have a few fun, happy days. That was pushing it though. As Reyna finished unpacking her things, Linda approached her and handed her a small gift. She was so sweet. “Thank you Li,” she said, softly and she sat down on the bed, motioning to the space beside her for Linda to sit as well. She held the gift in her hand, feeling grateful that she had a friend who cared about her. She wished she had thought of giving her a gift. “Sorry, I didn’t bring you a gift.” She added. “But how was your trip here? And how are you?” She wasn’t quite ready to talk about her grief, and her pain, but she was ready to talk to her best friend. However, she was going to tell her, because she needed to. She needed to rid herself of this pain. And she would. However, challenging it would be, Linda deserved to know. After all they were besties, and Reyna hoped, prayed that would never change. |

While the young American teenager was well aware that she didn’t know anyone specifically, that didn’t mean that she’d be closed off and completely useless. No. She knew this would be a prime opportunity to make new friends! It appeared it would even be an opportunity to be friends with students from a few of the foreign schools. She couldn’t be immediately aware of everyone’s nationality, but she figured they could potentially be a wide variety. Although it wasn’t like it was something that she needed to pay particularly close attention to.
Being so energetic, Devon found herself forgetting names and faces very easily. But, she could remember the Durmstrang boy was a broom racer, like her. She was one of the last people to be considered competitive. Frankly, she didn’t care to make the broom racing matches a competition. Despite that fact, she wasn’t going to run around and proclaim her views. That was the last thing that she wished to do. Instead, she smiled brightly at him. “Hi! It’s great to see another broom racer here,” she greeted him in her normal bubbly fashion.
Her green eyes flicked to the other boy, who started to greet her, then at his extended hand. Devon smiled as he spoke, swiftly shaking his hand and nearly bouncing on the spot. She was definitely excited, as ever. This was clearly not her first time going on a foreign trip, but it was her first time visiting Tenūsa … and a definite Divination hotbed. Hopefully, good things would come from such a trip. But, now was not the time to let her mind wander. There was plenty of time for that … like late at night if she was unable to sleep.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, as well, Nikolai. I’m Devon. I’m also looking forward to this weekend, and I hope to become friends,” she replied, happily. With a glance at her outfit, she laughed. “Thanks! I relish the times I don’t have to wear a uniform.” Frankly, she didn’t mind the uniform in the slightest. Yet, who was she to deny an opportunity to express her individuality? Besides, this was also a few moments away from her brothers and sister, which certainly helped!
Devon turned her attention to the beds around the homestead and nodded. The alcoves were a delight. “Thank you. I’m not fussy, but, yes, that view does sound fantastic!” She agreed. Even though she knew no-Maj electronics would not work around all the magic, she wished she had her camera with her. Or even her smartphone. But, alas, it was a price to pay to come to such a wonderful magical school! With her graceful movements, she slid over to a nearby bed to begin unpacking a few necessities for now. There would be plenty of time to fully unpack!
As she pulled out a few items from her bag, Devon saw two older girls come into the homestead, one at a time. It appeared they already knew each other. She smiled at them and finished taking out a few towels.Note: 514 words
