What's the difference between a DM and a message?![]()
See, my tutor was asking us for availability for taking performance workshops and she was saying, "send me a message (in which she means a private one to her) or a DM" and I'm kinda thinking aren't they... The same thing?![]()

Like, she'll go "I requested a DM for [...]" when someone just sends a public response in a group chat... Even when it's something as trivial as availability.
And then the flip side is that she describes a message and a DM as the same thing (sometimes!) or different (most of the time)

So, the reason they block all those, as annoying and infuriating as it may be, is to reduce your distractions and to try and keep your attention on your school work and on your teacher (and their lesson).Ellie Randensmith wrote: 17 Dec 2025, 20:15same, my school blocked all music websites like spotifyAvery Gray wrote: 17 Dec 2025, 19:50 Same here. So like, I remember getting a chromebook in 2017, the first year I mainstreamed, and I was excited and was able to pretty much have unrestricted access. Over the years though, about maybe 80% of the sites became blocked and if the teacher deemed a specific site necessary, they'd reach out to IT and IT would unlock the site for that class period.
(well, that isn't the only reason some sites are blocked, others are due to the content that may be displayed on their sites that may not be appropriate for school environments)
