Deletion removes everything. And it does come with a ban, as others have said.

If you have RPed with anyone, choosing deletion will remove your part of those shared stories.

I'm sorry that you're feeling Hio isn't a good fit for you. I would recomnend the least permanent choices:

1. Just step away from the site. There is no rule that says you have to delete or even deactivate! Maybe in a year or two you'll want to try again! Doing this will allow you to come back without hassle.

2. Deactivate. This solution leaves your writing here intact but also removes your character from the active roster. If you ever decide to come back, you can easily reactivate! If you want to return as a different character, that option eould also be open to you.

Idk about a hiatus… I just feel like I don’t want to be part of this site anymore…

It is wholly up to you, but like Colin said, if you think there is even the slightest chance you might return, I would recommend just deactivating. Otherwise, if you ever desire to come back, you will not be able to, as deletions come with bans. We do check for multi-accounts, so if you attempted to come back after a deletion, you would be banned again.

I do hope everything is alright – if you need to talk, my owls/DMs are open.

But for deactivation I would have to wait 6 months no?

Sage, I have a question. My elder sister saw me on site, and since she had finished all her college stuff to do, she decided to join the site. But all her own devices are mainly for work, so I want to step away from the site and give her my device to use for the site. So, should I give her my account and re-index, or delete my account and let her start over?

There are several ways a user may leave the site, and it is important to understand the differences, as some decisions are permanent and irreversible.

1. Deletion at the Request of a Parent or Guardian (Minors)

If an account is deleted at the request of a parent or legal guardian, this decision is final and cannot be reversed.

• The account is permanently removed.
• An IP ban is applied.
• Attempts to return using alternate accounts, VPNs, or proxies will be identified.
• We will honor the parent or guardian's expectation of full removal.

While many parents choose to use parental controls instead, if a removal request is made, we will comply fully. The consequence is complete and permanent removal from the community.

2. Permanent (“Soft”) Deletion

Some users request permanent soft deletion of their own account because they want their presence fully erased. While the term "soft deletion" may sound reversible, it is not.

• The account is permanently removed.
• An IP ban is applied.
• There is no reinstatement under any circumstances.
• Friends or family attempting to join from the same devices or networks may be flagged as ban evasion.
• Once this option is chosen, it cannot be undone.

3. Leaving Without Deactivation

• The most common option.
• The account remains intact.
• No action is required.

The user simply stops participating.

This preserves the option to return in the future, whether months or years later, without complications. The vast majority of users choose this route.

4. Account Deactivation

This option disables the current account so the user may later create a new one.

• Some staff enforce waiting periods for deactivation, I do not. If you made this account 2 months ago and want to deactivate today, I will deactivate you. However you will not be eligible to make a new account until your 6 months is up.
• The user is responsible for understanding the implications.
• Once deactivated, the account cannot be accessed for questions, appeals, or clarification.

So, deactivation is allowed, but it is often not the most practical choice.



If you are unhappy, the safest and most flexible option is simply to step away. Leaving preserves your agency and future options.

Permanent deletion forfeits that control entirely. While it is available, it is not a decision we encourage lightly.
