She's never been the type to enjoy confrontation or arguments, but growing up, she has always known how to get her way; she just had a much quieter way of doing so. Instead of temper tantrums or demanding things go right for her, she'll use manipulation and deceit to get something she wants. Usually, she'll be inclined to lie if it means it'll benefit her or the people she loves. She would rather lie than tell the truth, especially if the truth would make people think less of her. She has always had very strong opinions and values that she'll very rarely stray from — unless she can be greatly convinced of a different opinion. Her beliefs come from a mixture of her upbringing, but also being able to find her own place in the world. Furthermore, Juliette has always been quite observant — a trait stemming from her naturally quiet demeanour — and she prefers to stay on the sidelines, examining a scene before her until she senses the right time to jump in. A very determined and stubborn girl, she is extremely persistent and won't give up until she reaches her goals, even if it means being selfish in order to achieve them. Yet, there's a part of herself that Juliette will never let others see; one she keeps tucked deep inside, beneath everything else, in the hopes that nobody will uncover it. Her deceitful side only comes out when she desperately wants something to go her way, or if the person she is speaking to does wrong by her first. Juliette can also, quite rarely, have the ability to be charismatic and charming, even if that side of her doesn't come out unless she's around people she can really feel comfortable with. Still, if you're someone Juliette considers to be a close confidant, you can be assured that she will be loyal to you and she will rarely stray from your side. As of late 2024, Juliette was pulled out of her first year at Hogwarts following a car accident that killed her twin sister, Alexandria Lovelace, and her younger brother, Nathaniel Lovelace. Because of this, she has curled deeper into herself and has become impossibly more quiet. She's dealing with a lot of grief, survivor's guilt, and struggling a lot mentally. Her home life has taken a turn for the worst, following the return of her mother, and she has rarely spoken to anyone since her return to Hogwarts for her second year. Her features — a delicate, upturned button nose, brown, doe-like eyes, and long, soft brown hair, paired with her fair, unblemished skin — have grown to be something Juliette detests. To her, she is a constant reminder of the mother that left four children to pursue a life of fame. Juliette Harper Lovelace was born an unfortunate 3 minutes later than her twin sister, Alexandria, to a family that was most definitely not your ordinary one. The first seven years of her life were spent in Los Angeles with her father, Arthur Lovelace, and her mother, Corinne Fitzroy, along with her twin sister and her two younger siblings, Nathaniel and Clementine. Her father, Arthur, was the second son of an old, wealthy, Muggle family originating from England, and he had moved to California shortly after high school, in the hopes of pursing his career as a professional photographer. Her mother, Corinne, hailed from a prestigious Pureblood family originating in America, and shocked all of them when she moved to Los Angeles in the hopes of becoming a singer. When they were both first settling down in their prospective careers, the two met and soon began to fall in love. As they grew closer, Arthur learned of Corinne's magical heritage, and he was little shocked of this new revelation —much to Corinne's surprise and relief. It was revealed that Arthur had already known partially of the wizarding world due to having a magical cousin who had attended Hogwarts named Alexandra Prince, the mother of Dealla Prince, a student currently attending Hogwarts. Corinne had been both relieved and grateful that Arthur did not make a big deal about her being magical, since it was part of her she couldn't hide. Later, once their careers began to really take off and America was introduced to Arthur's concert photography and Corinne's beautiful voice, they became a power couple within the industry, gaining the attention of record labels and the love of adoring fans worldwide. So, at the time and shortly after Corinne had discovered she was pregnant, it had made the utmost sense to the both of them that they get married quickly and start building this new life together. As her parents needed to live in Los Angeles for their careers, she spent the first seven years of her life in the city alongside her twin sister, Lexie, and her younger siblings. Despite their fame, privacy was immensely important to the Lovelaces', due partially to Corinne's magical background, and Juliette's parents took great care in ensuring that their kids' lives were kept private — away from the prying eyes of fans and the media. This meant that Juliette grew up with a relatively normal childhood, and she would not be considered famous or recognisable in either the Muggle or magical world. Growing up, Juliette learned about both sides of her family: the magical and Muggle side. She would learn basic Muggle subjects in school and then wizarding subjects at home, allowing herself to have the best of both worlds and to be prepared for her wizarding education should she turn out to be magical. She was never as active as her sister was, but she still participated in sports only sometimes (admittedly, mainly when Lexie would drag her along). She always had somebody to hang out with, whether that was her twin, friends, or her cousins, and she was generally quite a happy child growing up. Therefore, from an outside perspective, it would appear that she and her siblings had a perfect life. In actuality, this was far from the truth, as these things tended to be. Throughout the years, Arthur and Corinne's marriage had started to grow increasingly tense and strained; the reasoning could be attributed to the stress of their careers and getting married too young and too quickly. Slowly, but noticeably, they started falling out of love with each other. Plus, the differences in their upbringing and lifestyles had created a divide between the two — it was becoming increasingly obvious that they would never be able to fully understand each other. Even while things were falling apart in private, Arthur and Corinne still had their careers to worry about, which the 'power couple' reputation had greatly helped, so they decided to keep up the appearance of being in love in public. In January 2020, Arthur had to move back to England after receiving news that his older brother had died in a sailing accident. The entire family travelled with him to attend the funeral. After the funeral, Arthur was convinced by his parents to stay in England for the foreseeable future, since he was now the heir to the Lovelace title, and they needed him close after his brother's death. He had agreed to stay, but had forgotten about Corinne and their life back in America in the midst of it all. It appeared that this would be the breaking point in their marriage, as Corinne didn't want to give up her life and career in America, or say goodbye to her family. So, one night after the funeral, she packed her bags and left, leaving only a note behind to explain her departure. The divorce papers were signed quietly and efficiently in the months after; Arthur and Corinne had officially split after eight years of marriage. For obvious reasons, this was an extremely hard and confusing time for Juliette and her siblings. Her father had made the decision to send them to boarding school, in an effort to remove them from the messy situation at home and to avoid the American press that were still trying to hound Arthur for answers about the divorce. Despite the situation, Jules didn't particularly mind boarding school, and found she quite enjoyed it. She fit in with the others quite well and it had been easy enough for her to make friends, but her twin sister had some trouble clashing with teachers and the authoritative figures at the school. The need to stick by her twin sister and defend her — even if she was, admittedly, acting out —meant that Jules would often end up in trouble with her teachers and staff at the school, as she always had something to say when they tried to give Lexie detention. By the time Jules and Lexie were eleven and had received their Hogwarts acceptance letters, they hadn't been surrounded by magic in years. With only receiving Muggle education for the last few years, their knowledge of it had become quite limited and though they were still aware of its existence, they hadn't given it much further thought. As they had lived in America for the majority of their childhood, it had always been a possibility that they would've ended up at the American wizarding school, Ilvermorny, instead. Though, since they now lived in England, it turned out that they would be attending Hogwarts. So, on 1st September 2024, Juliette stepped onto the Hogwarts Express with her sister Lexie to begin her Hogwarts journey. Juliette's first instance of magic occurred at boarding school when she was nine years old. It was shortly after classes had ended for the day and the sun had started to break through after a morning of heavy rain, so she wanted to play outside with her friends and Lexie. The puddles still on the ground did not bother them at the time, and it had been a fun afternoon of playing. That was until Juliette had unfortunately slipped on some mud and tumbled into a puddle during a game of tag, causing her hair and clothes to be ruined by the muddy water. Just as Jules felt the beginnings of tears in her eyes and the simmering of a temper tantrum beginning to erupt, something unexplainable happened: she stood up and found herself magically dry, with not a hint of water on her. She decided not to think too much of it, and returned to playing with her friends.
