He heard Sages voice from the darkness. "Why is she even awake?" He thought, as she scooted over on th bed. He sat down next to her. He looked at her and saw she had been crying. Her eyes were red, and there were marks from where the tears had slipped down her face. They sat there in silence, for quite a long time. Then he grabbed her hand, intertwining their fingers. Something was troubling him. He knew that visions of the future sometimes came to wizards by dream. He knew this happend often, but in this case, he hoped it wasn't true.

Kayden relayed the dream to her, not leaving anything out. He didn't want to frighten her, but he knew he had to be honest. He almost didn't speak of the part with the children dying, but he decided it was necessary. He was starting to calm himself, and he wondered why Sage was awake. It could have been possible they both had dreams, but that could lead to another problem. Somebody magically controlling their minds. He didn't want to think of it, so he decided to shut the idea out. Pale moonlight drifted in from the window, giving the room a odd haze.

Sage seemed to start crying again and she covered her mouth with her hands when he spoke about his dream. She hugged him tightly and cried softly before pulling away. She told him about her dreams too, about how they started and then seeing her parents and Delilah. She wiped her eyes as she sniffled "we should go back to bed before Nana comes in here and sees us" she said with a sigh. "We can go to a park and talk about this more after breakfast tomorrow" she put a hand on his cheek, her touch was soft and gentle "ok?" She asked him.

She went back under the covers with a sigh, she wanted him to sleep in the bed with her but that went against the rules they agreed to. She put her head down on the pillow and faced away from him and closed her eyes, flipping her hair over her shoulder before going back to sleep. She didn't want to talk about it, hearing about his dream broke her heart. Then she started thinking that him being an Auror wasn't the best idea, and now she was thinking against it. She had read that wizards sometimes of dreams of the future and she didn't want to risk it ever coming true.

As much as he wanted to spend the rest of the night with her, it was against the rules. He flopped back down onto his bed on the floor, as he tried to forget the dream. He sat there thinking, as the hours went on. At around three in the morning, a bump awoke him. Not a soft one, which could be dismissed as a raccoon in the alley, or a squirrel on the roof, but a loud, jarring thud. He rolled over, wondering if he should investigate. Was Sage even awake? He didn't want to leave her. There had been enough thrills for one night, and Kayden wanted her to get some rest.

He tried to fall back asleep, but at the sound of a loud creak, such as a door being opened, he awoke, sitting up. He slipped on a shirt, and looked over at Sage. She seemed to be sleeping, which was all fine and well, so he wouldn't disturb her. He had once seen Sage without sleep, and it didn't go well at all.

He didn't know why, but he grabbed a baseball bat that had been stuck in the corner for protection. If there happend to be an intruder, he wouldn't be able to use magic. He slipped out of the room quickly and walked down the hall.

Sage was sleeping during this night. She was dreaming good dreams this time and so she was smiling softly as she slept. It wasn't until she heard Kayden get up, that's when she rolled over so she could squint her eyes so she could find out why he was awake. When she saw him grab the baseball bat. That's when she gasped softly and sat up "don't" she said in her normal voice. She got up and grabbed a bed robe and wrapped it around her. "Why are you awake? Did you hear something? Maybe Nana is getting a snack or drink?" She suggested.

She looked at the door and saw that it had a lock, just in case, she tip-toed over to the door and locked it slowly in case the intruder or whoever was close nearby couldn't hear the door lock.

She backed up slowly as she watched the door, then she went and stood behind Kayden. Now she was scared as she grabbed his arm. She didn't know who or what was outside the door, but she tried hard not to scream and so she decided to cover her mouth if need be. She didn't want to give away their position and watch Kayden get hurt.

He had kind of wished that she had stayed behind, but it was of no use now. Walking down the hall, and into the living room, he saw a opened window, a cold draft filling the room. He grinned the baseball bat tighter, and hoped slightly that it was just a coincidence. But part of him knew. Deep down inside of him, there was a part that knew that this was not a normal event. The worst part was, he couldn't use magic. If there was really someone here, he would have to use his bare hands.

Walking out of the living room, he entered the kitchen. He noticed that the finer ortaments were no longer there, and Kaydens worst suspicions had been confirmed. It was a break in. He scoured the room, and noticed, with a feeling of impending dread, that Grandmas door was open. He opened the door completely, and the sight before him was one he wouldn't forget. His Grandmother always kept a gun for self defense, or in case of a break in lying around.

Her body, lying on the floor, held this gun loosely. She had a bloody knife in her back, revealing torn cartilage. There was a mess of blood over the floor, which made Kayden sick to his stomach. There was a trail of bloody footprints leading out of the open window.

Kayden didn't move. His eyes were plastered on the body, and his hands released the baseball bat, and it dropped to the floor with a loud noise. He dropped to his knees and he grabbed the body in his arms, as he felt tears welling up.

Sage covered her mouth when she saw the horrific scene and tears streamed down her face. The woman she was just beginning to love was now dead. She felt sick to her stomach as she sobbed, she couldn't stop staring "we have to call the police" she said, but only before she ran to the bathroom and threw up. She sobbed as she did, this could've been all her fault. She didn't know what her or Kayden did to deserve this. There still could've been a chance maybe. Maybe she was still alive. She ran to the phone after throwing up and called the police and gave them the address because luckily there was a letter nearby that was on it. Sage continued to sob as the woman over the phone told her everything was gonna be alright, but she didn't believe the stranger. Now her and Kayden might be separated and it broke her heart just thinking about being lonely all the time.

Sage went and unlocked the front door to let the police and paramedics in and pointed to the room Kayden and Nana were in. She prayed to whatever was listening that Nana would still be alive.

Kayden refused to let go of the body, which led to see paramedic who was much stronger than him dragging hs away. A police officer knelt down to hs level. "What happend here son?" Although the Kayden didn't want to talk about it, he stammered out the words. "Where- Where am I gonna go now?" He would have to ur up with this charade, even though he knew he and Sage would be spending the rest of their breaks at Hogwarts.

He watched as a group of medics burst into the house, and hey began checking her pulse. One of them looked up to Sage and Kayden. "She's gone." He said regretfully. Kayden knew he had to do something, but he felt useless. There was nothing he could do. A police officer began wrapping yellow police tape around the room, and Kayden grabbed Sages hand and helped her duck under. He walked them into their room and locked the door. It was still dark outside.

He sat down on the bed, knowing that Grandmas rules didn't matter much anymore. There was no way in hell he would get some sleep, so he just sat there, not crying, just staring off into the distance.

Sage was crying and she could hardly move. When he brought her to their room and just sobbed out loud. She kept blaming herself too but she couldn't speak and apologize. She felt depressed and terrible. She felt her knees begin to shake so she sat on the floor and sobbed. She curled into a ball, hiding her face from Kayden and the world.

She was shaking, and after throwing up she felt like she was going to again. Tears streamed down her face. She wasn't even thinking about Kayden and how much he needed her. The horrific scene she had just witnessed, and this being her first time there. She couldn't take it. She didn't know what the two were going to do, probably spend the breaks at Hogwarts whenever they could. Otherwise they'd have to either go to her parents house, which she doubted they would let them. So where else were they going to go?

So many things ran through her mind that she wasn't even paying attention to the world around her. So she just sat there, crying and shaking in her little comfort ball. She was scared for the future now, and she wished she could say something.

He heard Sage crying, and he wondered why he wasn't able to break down for his only parental figure he ever had. Maybe by now he was beyond tears. He wanted to help her, but couldn't. All he did was wrap an arm around her shoulder, and listen to her crying softly. What did they do now?

He heard sirens wailing outside, and heard loud shouting as paramedics lifted his Grandmother away. There was nothing they could do now. He held Sage tightly, coming to the realization that she was all he had left. He felt tears slip down his face, and the sound of the house being searched ensured. He had locked the door, and as of now, the police wouldn't be able to get in. And he didn't really want them to. What would they do then? Go to an orphanage? Return to Hogwarts? What were they going to do, tell the orphanage, "Sorry but we must be off to our magical school! Nice knowing you suckers!" Sage obviously didn't have good relations with her parents, so they couldn't go there.

They were all alone in the world now. There was a forensics team outside the house, marking space off.

Sage realized that they only had each other and she hugged him tightly as she continued to cry. They couldn't stay here and they needed to talk to the police who she knew would ask questions that she didn't want them to ask. She stood up and looked at him "we have to go" was all she could say as she started calming down slightly. She went over and unlocked the door and opened it, where she was greeted by an officer who looked very gentle and kind. He sighed softly and knelt down in front of her and she kind of took a few steps back very shyly before he sighed again and smiled softly. "What are your names?" He asked softly.

"S-Sage, and the boy is Kayden." She said shyly.

"I know you don't want to talk about what happened, that's fine. But we need to ask questions so we can figure out what happened and how we can help both of you okay?"

Sage nodded, she hoped Kayden wouldn't get mad at her talking to the man. He was right, if they were going to figure out who ended the old lady's life, then they had to face the truth and talk to them about it. She looked at Kayden and smiled a sad and depressed smile and held out her hand to him.
