Kayden had informed his grandmother ahead of time that he was bringing a special girl, but he was still scared out of his wits. No longer dressed in robes, but in jeans and a jacket, he and Sage approached the door. He knew that his Grandmother would embarrass him, he just knew it. He on bright over a friend when he was seven, and his grandma went on a rant about how Kayden once didn't pull out a loose tooth for a month, and it turned rotten. The boy never came back.

He desperately wanted to make an impression on Sage, but he was bracing himself for the worst. He turned to Sage, speaking in a cautious tone. "Look, I love my grandmother,mouth you should know that she can be a bit... eccentric. And loud. And embarrassing. And she really likes to invade your personal space. Once you get to know her, you'll see she's a nice woman, but... Well, just be prepared." He didn't want to frighten Sage, but he did have to be honest. He didn't want her expecting a nice, calm and collected visit.

Taking a deep breath, he knocked on the door, and waited for it to open.

Sage was nervous the entire ride to his Grandma's house. She just wanted the woman to like her. She didn't mind all the other stuff he said about her, having a little said had its perks, such as a long strand of patience. She just nodded as he spoke, completely nervous. They were walking towards the house and she felt herself shaking more. Maybe this was a bad idea. "you have a place for me to sleep right? I doubt she'll let me sleep in your room. Maybe a spare bed or a couch?" She asked him with a nervous smile.

She tried to look calm but her hands were shaking slightly. Meeting her boyfriend's grandma, it was overwhelming to even think about it as they inched closer and closer to the front door. She held onto his hand tightly. It felt like every step she took towards the door the further away it was, like something she completely dreaded. But she had Kayden and that's all that mattered. She let go of his hand when they stood in front of the door and she looked at him. She sucked in a deep breath of her own as she watched his fingers reach up and knock on the door.

"I'm sure we can find somewhere for you to sleep." (I'm gonna god mod the grandmother) The door opened with a soft creak, and a woman, looking to be n her 60's opened the door. She looked from Kayden to Sage, and back again. Letting out a small yelp for joy, she grabbed up Sage, giving her a tight hug. "Oh you must be Sage darling!" She said, clearly ecstatic. "What a beautiful young girl you are!" She gave Kayden a wink out of the corner of her eye. Kayden smiled, then rolled his eyes and laughed. "No hugs for me?" he asked, in a fake sarcastic tone. Grabbing up Kayden the woman said in a slightly drawled tone, "You can call me whatever you want darling, but my given name is Bernice." She was talking to Sage, but Kayden could hear her voice all too loudly in his ear.

Brushing her hands on the apron she was wearing, (she seemed to have been cooking) she looked flushed. "Oh, but where are my manners. Do come in, it's quite cold outside." Shooing them in, she closed the door behind them.

The house had a cozy cabin feel to it, like it was off in the woods, and not placed near the busy muggle streets. There were plenty of decorations around the house, most of them being pictures of children from an older time, or signs with sayings on them. The house smelled strongly of cookies, and, true to that fact, there was a batch sitting on the table, appearing freshly cooked. She motioned for the, to sit down at the table set for three, as she sat on one of the oak chairs. "So, I want to know how you too met. Kayden must have got quite lucky to find such a girl as you." She said as Kayden took a seat next to Sage, and he put a palm to his forehead. He should have expected this.

Sage actually expected way worse. She seemed sweet"I'll just call you Grandma" she smiled sweetly up at her, and she thought it was cute when she picked on Kayden a bit. When they went inside, she put her bags by the couch where she assumed she was sleeping on. She smiled at the woman as she looked around at the clean house with a gentle smile. She pushed some hair out of her face and flipped her curls over her shoulders. She noticed her hair was getting rather long and losing its curliness at the ends, making it look cuter.

"We met at school, we were in the ballroom and he came up to me and another girl, then we went to the lake and had some fun and we've been together ever since. I think he had a crush on me the second he laid his eyes on me" she said, picking on him a bit herself. "But that's okay, I did too" she smiled sweetly at the Grandma. Her accent had gotten thicker for some reason and she noticed that too. She just hoped people could understand whatever she said to them. She was excited to be staying here though with Kayden and his grandma.

Grandma looked between the two of them. She picked u on the playful teasing and laughed. "Well aren't you two just quite the pairing?" She said as she handed Kayden another cookie, which he politely declined.

Grandma walked back into the kitchen with the platter of cookies putting them away. He noticed that Sages hair had grown out a bit, and he thought it looked great. He smiled at her. "Hopefully she's not too crazy for you." And he truly, sincerely hoped. If Sage were to continue dating him, it would mean she would be seeing her a lot.

Grandma and Sage seemed to enjoy teasing him, he noticed. Two peas in a pod they are. He looked out the window, noticing the setting sun. "I'll ask Grandma were you can sleep when she comes back out." He yawned, tired from the days excitement. They would have lots of time to catch up with Grandma, but it should be done once they had gained some rest. He thought he knew of some places she could sleep, but Kayden decided he could probably just take the couch. She could sleep in the bed if she wanted. Kayden would try to be the gentleman in the situation.

"No, she's a sweetheart. I like her, to be honest I was expecting way worse, but she's just like any other grandma" she smiled at him and kissed his cheek as she took out her sketch book. Then she got an idea and she started to draw something. It seemed like three people, two of them looked like kids and the one in the middle was an adult. Then she started drawing in the details and every once in a while she'd look up at Kayden and continue drawing. She didn't have a good image on grandma yet, but she had drawn her and Kayden in as the kids.

She laughed as she showed him "think she'll like it?" She asked him and sat next to him and put the book and drawing in his lap as she continued to look around. As of this moment, she didn't miss Hogwarts. Sometimes big places made her nervous, so going to school everyday in a big castle made her feel a little empty. But the house was nice and small and cozy and she liked it, especially since she was with Kayden and his grandma. She could get used to this and hoped she did.

He looked down at the paper. "Tis' a true work of art." He said, in a exaggerated British tone. In truth, it did look great. He came to a sad realization that this must be the first time Sage had ever really had a parental figure, considering she was Muggle born, and magic was shunned by most muggles. There was a soft clank as Grandma put the dishes away. She came back in, smiling at the drawing. "Very good dear! You're quite the artist!" She sat back down, but she seemed a bit more tired than usual. "Hey Grandma, an we have all break to catch up, do you mind if me and Sage could get some sleep? Today was quite tiring." The old woman nodded, and stood up.

"Of course dear. I understand perfectly." "Where can she sleep? I was thinking she might be able to take the room, and I could sleep on the couch." At this, Grandma took a moment to think, in which they all sat there awkwardly. "I trust you Kayden. And you too Sage. I think it's fine if you were to sleep in the same room. On two conditions, however. Kayden must sleep on the floor, and Sage can take the bed. And all clothes must remain me hundred percent on. And I will check in on you from time to time, just as a precaution."

Kayden thought this sounded lke a good idea, as he would be in the same room as Sage, and there wouldn't be risk of anything funny happening. He didn't want to make her uncomfortable however. He looked over and awaited her response.

Sage smiled and nodded "I one hundred percent agree, I'm excited too. Thanks Grandma" Sage said and hugged her and then drew in her face for the adult and gave it to her with the brightest smile. She grabbed her suitcases and let Kayden lead the way. Her heart was racing but she was excited, and wasn't at all expecting the woman to let them sleep in the same room. But then that way they could talk together and laugh, she was okay with sleeping in his bed and him on the floor next to her. She agreed with what Grandma said, it seemed fair too.

When he led her to the bedroom she looked around and set down her suitcases before turning and looking at him. She squealed excitedly and ran over to hug him "I'm so excited to be here with you! I can't believe this is happening, a place to call home!" She giggled and looked around as she smiled again. She couldn't believe this was happening and that she was actually here. For the first time in a while, she felt like everything was gonna be okay, and she had Kayden to thank for all of that.

The room was nicer than Kayden had expected it to be. Grandma had clearly tidied the lace up a bit so he wouldn't seem as a slob in front of Sage. There was the four poster twin bed with red sheets, (they couldn't afford anything fancier) and a small dresser with a lamp, a Captain America comic book Kayden remembered buying, and some clothes in the drawer that no longer fitted him. He had grabbed a blanket and cushion from the couch, and settled them on the floor.

He smiled. I'm glad. Trust me, I'm already beggining to think you've become Grandmas favorite. He sat on his small, makeshift bed on the floor, and deduced the carpet felt just fine. They began talking, and at one point Grandma walked in. "Lights out kiddos." She flipped the switch, leaving them in darkness. Kayden slipped his shirt off, as he normally did while sleeping, figuring it didn't apply with the clothes rule.

That night he dreamt of horrific things. The dream began quite nicely, eluding to the fact he might be free of nightmares. He and Sage were two grown people, having left Hogwarts. Kayden was an Aurora, tracking down dark wizards, and Sage was the zoologist she claimed she wanted to be. One day, he returned home from work, and two small children ran out of the house, and latched onto his leg. One was a young girl with Sages reddish hair, and deep blue eyes. The other was a boy, who had brown hair and piercing blue eyes.

The children squealed with happiness, as they grasped onto him. The little girl smiled up at him and said, "Did you get any bad guys today daddy?" The boy pulled himself off and threw a karate move. "I bet he karate chopped them into tomorrow!" Sage came up and kissed him quickly, to which the children let out a loud Ewwwwww. Kayden laughed, and a centaur that Sage had welcomed walked up and greeted them. "Welcome back Sir Dragoon. Was all fine and well today?" It said in a deep booming voice. Kayden quickly informed everyone that all had been fine at work.

That's when things turned for the worst. They were all walking back inside the house, as the clouds began to turn a frothy grey. Dismissing it as a change of weather, they moved in. Suddenly, lightning struck the ground, and a dark wizard Kayden had been hunting suddenly appeared on the ground before him. A quick spell crippled Kayden, and sent his wand flying. The children screamed, as the centaur pulled out a sword and raced at the wizard. He wasn't quick enough, as a quick spell struck the centaur down. The children were screaming, and began running around. They were frozen, with terrified looks on their faces, and Kayden was helpless to do anything. He tried some wandless magic, but felt his mind becoming drowsy. Looking up, he heard the words CRUCIO. Yelled into the air.

Kayden woke up with a loud gasp, sweating immensely. The dream had stopped a moment before Sage being killed. He looked over to her, hoping he hadn't woke her up.

"Yes Nana" Sage said as she walked into the room from the bathroom and was now in some shorts and a tank top. Sage was nervous, but she smiled and laid down and closed her eyes. Her dreams started out like Kayden's, good things, such as children and having their dream jobs and their own house. But instead of a dark wizard, it was her parents, handing her her sister and casting Delilah out just like they had with her. Sage started to cry in her sleep, and her eyes shot open when she heard Kayden mumbling in his sleep and she sat up, about a minute before he jumped up and was panting and sweating.

"Are you okay?" She asked him, her face filled with worry as she looked at him with concerned eyes, the way she looked when she made that face, just worry and anxiety but still cute somehow all together. "Bad dream? Do you want to talk about it?" She asked him. She didn't want him to think he was alone so she scooted over for him on the bed so he could sit down next to her. If he did then she would proceed to wipe the sweat off his face.
