Camille almost felt compelled to laugh at his bunkmate’s comment that revealed a little too much about his restricted social life. As pathetic as it was — and frankly, tragic— that he needed extra tutoring to motivate him to get out of the common room, the Frenchman could have scoffed at him to speak for himself; his “friends” might be few and far between, but out of the problems he had, being stuck rolling his thumbs in waiting for life to sweep him off his feet was definitely not one of them. If there was something he had proven good at, except for his multitude of talents, it was finding ways to occupy himself when his surroundings failed to stimulate his restless mind and body. Exchanging his training days for the boarding school routine had been a major change, and not for the better; the moment he stopped moving, he feared he’d begin to climb the walls. Back home, loitering was not a problem, however, here it was social death. Social interactions, both pleasant and unpleasant, was not a shortcoming in his life currently.

Puzzled, Camille glanced over at the boy from the corner of his eye, partially hidden on the other side of Damien. He spoke so casually of it, acting as if one was not supposed to pity him. If that was him, he wouldn't have dreamed of exposing himself like that. Ever. Since Camille rarely spent time in the Ravenclaw tower if he could help it, naturally, he had not paid attention to his nemesis routines, if he had any friends or what not. The possibility that Lorenzo might actually be lonely had never even crossed his mind. Then again, no wonder, with all his flaws. Before anything resembling pity could take root, he abruptly stopped himself from thinking about it. Perhaps Lorenzo needed these meetings to save his life, whether he realized it or not, while Camille did not. Shoving any feelings of sympathy aside, for he did not think Lorenzo deserved it, he interrupted his train of speech with his own burning questions, regarding the schedule of these gatherings.

Apparently, his questions fell on deaf ears. Damien answered Lorenzo’s questions first, forcing Camille to sit there and let his impatience simmer while waiting to be graced with his turn. Lips pressed together, stiffly he leaned back in his chair again. In contrast, Damien didn’t seem to have any need to turn his words inside and out, showing no other reaction than excitement for Lorenzo’s enthusiasm. Since he was forced to listen to their conversation, he latched on to the only relevant thing said; someone had to stay behind to clean— and in no world would that be Camille. There was only one reasonable answer. If the Italian boy enjoyed this so much, it only made sense for him to offer himself to help with the cleaning post-session. Being forced to attend was a cruel enough fate without spending two nights a week, first being tutored at Lorenzo’s side, and then having to polish telescopes afterward.

Before he could open his mouth to comment on these plans, Damien abruptly moved on to show them another one of his personalized astronomy books. Blinking, Camille shot forward, thinking that another postpone was not happening. Seizing his chance before he was, once again, reduced to sitting around listening to their pathetic excitement like a puppet, Camille reached out a hand between them and the book, cutting them off before they could get too sucked into the material. As much as he was grateful for Damien’s previously shown generosity a few months back, he’d been waiting for long enough.

“Two times a week is out of the question,” he said sharply, leaving no doubt that his mind would not be changed. “Once every two weeks… fine.” The boy sighed. If he must. Supposedly, he had no choice. As for what Lorenzo chose to do with his time, it didn't concern him at all.

“Considering your enthusiasm, Lorenzo, it only makes sense for you to stay behind and help with the cleaning.” Camille smirked, self-satisfied. “It’s not like you have better things to do, in the common room. Some, ah, extra socializing might serve you well.” Considering the two of them seemed rather friendly, the youngest Ravenclaw couldn’t imagine Lorenzo complaining about spending extra time with Damien. In his own case, he had no such desire.

Lorenzo must not wait long for a reply. As his shoulders eased once more, he let his weight settle quietly into his wooden seat. Damien, meanwhile, turned toward him and at last met him with a smile upon his lips. The younger student lowered his gaze. The blue eyes fastened themselves innocently and curious upon those lips. Upon closer inspection, he deemed Damien‘s expression to be kind. The answer awoke the room.
«There you go, Lorenzo!» Damien’s voice rang. He seemed to partake in Lorenzo’s earlier euphoria, or at least support the notion.
The breath Lorenzo had held slipped, as though relief were the key to the very door the smile had kept closed. The corners of his mouth slowly lifted. Of course they would have to treat the equipment with respect — yet to clean it as well? It surprised him, and sank into his ears, filling his thoughts.
Even as Damien turned away, the rigid smile could not be driven from Lorenzo’s face. It was fueled, as he was far too occupied imagining all that they might observe through the telescope. There would be no queue, no imposed groups of students or assigned partners pressing themselves between him and the night. There would be Camille, certainly, yet even his presence can not dim the stars. Since it did so already, without ever needing to force itself.

Then, all at once, Damien’s voice rang louder than all day dreams combined. Lorenzo’s thoughts of burning suns sank back into the firmament, exchanged for new information. Damien would like to meet twice a week. Such a preference would be shaped by their schedule, yet the mere fact that it had been spoken into the room was soothing enough to let the smile drift gently from Lorenzo’s lips. The frequency could surely be increased. Still, the suggestion gave way to a more contemplative gaze. There was nothing in his memory that stood in opposition to the wish for weekly two meetings.
Aside from his regular excursions through the library, Lorenzo was almost always to be found in the Ravenclaw common room, there, where everything possessed its structure, and where the world made an effort not to torment his senses with colour and noise.

«Hmm… », Lorenzo murmured, for just then Damien set a book upon the table. It came to rest precisely between Lorenzo and Camille. Unlike his own, it bore the marks of use, as though a veil of knowledge had withdrawn into it, already beckoning him to conquest its content. Damien explained, «Y’all are free to look inside my book, just be careful, please!», granting them access to to share all that lay within.
Hearing this, Lorenzo’s heart quickened. His breath sank deeper into his lungs, only to be held there, awaiting his own hands to reach for the book. Camille surged forward first. That the devil proved swifter surprised him only for the brief moment in which Lorenzo released his breath. Spite unfurled itself through every tale — through those that spoke of fallen angels, of demons and monsters. They were ever the quicker ones, driven by some dark, otherworldly force. How fitting, Lorenzo thought, his gaze now fixed upon Camille’s hand.
Sharp and sudden, Camilles‘s voice shot from the young throat: «Two times a week is out of the question.» Once every two, however, would suit him well. Accompanied by Camille’s sigh, Lorenzo found himself leaning forward. His brows drew together in quiet scrutiny at the thought of not making full use of such a truly remarkable opportunity. Once every two weeks seemed far too little, but the devil had boundaries.
«That would be terribly brief…», Lorenzo whispered his reply, too softly to count as opposition — more alike a thought that had slipped from his tongue.
Camille continued speaking. In his new posture, half over the table, Lorenzo could at least observe the source of all mischief. Camille’s full lips curved into a grin. It all but invited removal by a well-placed fist, whereby Lorenzo was anything but eager for physical contact. It itched in his fingers.
With a French lilt, his bunkmate remarked that Lorenzo ought to remain behind and attend to the cleaning.

Like a spell, Camille‘s words rolled through Lorenzo’s mind. His fingers curled into one another, thumbs brushing along his forefingers. The rest of Camille’s speech drifted through the room like birds without a home. Lorenzo’s imagination took to the fore.
If he were to tend to the cleaning, he would have time alone with the equipment. Solitude would cover his usual concerns. Perhaps even Damien would not be there. The young Italian might steal extra minutes. Possibly even hours with the telescope to himself. If only for the fleeting moments in which he beheld them, the stars would shine for Lorenzo alone. His pupils slowly widened, until Camille’s features before him dissolved into an unimportant blur. Lorenzo sank back into his seat. The smile too blissful to be mistaken for anything but genuine.
«—might serve you well», Camille’s voice reached him from the side.
«You are right», Lorenzo replied. His voice calm, and markedly more confident than before. «What a good idea, Camille. Thank you for the suggestion!»

Damien noticed his Lorenzo seemed to frown a bit at Camille commanding that once every two weeks was much shorter than what he had hopped, Damien himself did think that too but he knew arguing with Camille would no be ideal. Damien truly didn’t understand how a kid could be so sassy and stuck up at the same time but then he thought about his father when he possible was a kid and it helped him imagine Camille acting the same way his father did as a child which wasn’t very pleasant.

Did Damien still have hope Camille could be a good person and not someone who seemed to be noting more than a stuck up asshole. Yes he believed that without a doubt, it just would take someone strong willed to give that right push so he wouldn’t give up on the boy at least not yet. He looked over at Lorenzo again before giving him a small smile before speaking. “Hm..once every two weeks is fine with me so I see no point in arguing with you Camille, however if you or especially you Lorenzo feel that is too short just send me an owl or find me around school and I’ll gladly make time for you.” He nods his head as he smile, his words were more so pointed at Lorenzo but he knew it wouldn’t be fair or improper to extend that invitation to Camille as well.

The tension between the two could be felt inside the room waiting to pop at any moment, Damien didn’t know if Lorenzo understood Camille snide comments or did and decided to turn them into kind things which if that was the case he applauded the boy for not letting someone comments get him down, though Damien wouldn’t lie and say it made him side eye Camille a bit. “Well I’m glad to see one of you is at least, excited to learn more about the stars.” He chuckled and just smiled as at least one of them would be interested in the stars so he at least accomplished something.

“Well you both are free to go and I shall owl you when we start these meetings and if either one of you want to hold my book to learn about a few things that may interest you I’m happy to let you burrow it as long a it is returned to me!” He smiles brightly at them as he found himself somewhat enjoying teaching.
