"Oh motherf—" Avis muttered as the cold, clean sound of a whistle blew into the air. She groaned in defeat and wheeled her broom around to start on what would hopefully be a quick penalty lap.

It had been a truly miserable attempt at a blatch but being spotted was what was really frustrating, not to mention embarrassing herself in front of her former broommate @Percival Rainwood. He'd probably get a quick laugh out of that. What made her think she could budge a big, bad seventh year anyway? She'd read a solid opportunity to foul at least but the execution...the girl grimaced. Too competitive for her own good it seemed.

The only thing that seemed to lighten the whole mangled situation was the Ravenclaw captain's @Aly Salinger encouragement from high above and Avis returned her kind words with a wan smile and a shaky thumbs up before she shot off to circle the pitch.

Charlie watched the game from atop her beloved silver arrow. The quaffle was across the field in Winne’s hands. Charlie watched as her teammate scored 40 points for Ravenclaw. “Yeah Ravenclaw!” Charlie exclaimed, even though no one could hear her. She kept her eyes locked on the quaffle promising herself she wouldn’t let it through her 3 golden hoops. What she didn’t see was the amazing Aly as well as the other seeker spotting the snittch.

Unfortunately for them, the Ravenclaw team finally seemed to be warmed up. The dark-haired girl sitting on the bench cringed every time she saw the quaffle go through the hoops. This was starting to become a much more exciting game than she signed up for. She secretly wished it was her up in the air, scoring points for Slytherin, but alas. All she could do was cheer on her teammates or boo the enemy team. It seemed the other benched players had other ideas, for all she'd seen Aamon do was.. snack? Well, at least she had her priorities straight. "Go get 'em, Violeta!"

Percival wasn't too sure what exactly changed from this round to the other one as he watched his bludger utterly miss his target so horrendously. Percival brought his arm up to wipe the sweat away from his forehead. Letting out a grunt of annoyance as he gripped his bat a bit harder. Though, it was only made worse as he watched his old broom buddy had tried to foul him. Percival would give the girl a scowl, before morphing into a smirk, as the loud whistle blew through the air. Have fun taking a lap, he would think smugly.

1. In the role of Beater, if you hit an opponent with a bludger the bludger will then ricochet off that user and target a second opponent of choice (must be declared, if not declared the target will be random and can be an ally but not yourself).

2. In the role of Beater, if an ALLY dodges a bludger during the round, there is a 20% chance that you catch that bludger with your bat and you send it at a RANDOM enemy target.

3. In the role of Beater, if you critically hit with a bludger, instead of doing double-damage you do 2.5x damage. If you critically fail with your bludger attempt to hit, rather than having your bludger randomly target another user (including yourself or an ally) the bludger cannot target you on a critical fail (but it can still target your allies). On a re-target, there is a random roll for target and then a fresh accuracy roll.

The benched players near her appeared to ward the field of spirits. How obnoxious... to yell as if their voices, that depended on something so fickle, would be able to keep monsters at bay. Within the fog, the creature lurked, its mouth open without a noise heard.

Nabi's indifferent chanting faded amongst the rukus.

Oh crap. Aston thought as he sees who his bludger was aimed at. He was running on instinct more then logic in that moment, seeing the bludger racing towards the older seeker he rushed to defend her against it. After all the team will be in real trouble if Aly gets out, Aston instinctive tried to redirect the bludger back to sender, not realizing it was his own teammate. Luckily he did miss, with a exhale Aston continued on, hopefully there won't be anymore of accidentally aiming at teammates.

At least they were winning, even if only by the narrowest sliver of competence. It wasn't his competence, of course. He had little to do besides eat, look decorative, and watch his sister-in-law Winnie (@Winnie Athanatos) score in what was thankfully a PG sort of way. A drastic improvement from his elder brother's tales that might or might not have been true Aamon lounged like a prince in exile, crisps in hand, quietly grateful he wasn't being forced onto the pitch.

This body, he was rapidly discovering, was as fragile in flesh as it had been in heart.

He lifted his gaze toward the stands, offering a lazy wave to the students cheering as if he were doing something. Spoiler: he wasn't. He was merely being beautiful and available for public consumption.

A second-string beater, benched but aesthetically pleasing. Truly the backbone of the team.

Honestly, he wondered why the spectators didn't help: draw a wand, hex someone, throw a little chaos into the sky. Legal or not, who would hold a spectator responsible? He pondered it idly, crunching another crisp, watching the match continue without him.

Quinn fly around the pitch, looking for any falling teammates. She could hear her friends from below her. As the score began to even up Quinn pumped her fists. She knew that they were still behind but she hoped that they could come back. The seekers suddenly seemed to both see something-the snitch!

DEBUFF FOULS

The game had truly started and plays were getting riskier as anticipation bubbled over, rash decisions prompting risky actions. All of Slytherin's chasers felt it, pressing closer to a couple of the Ravenclaws. Ripley rushed towards Aston, the protector of the eagles' Seeker, wide jabs with his elbow that only connected with the air. The intent was clear though, a sharp whistle soon following. "Ripley Cunning! Penalty lap!" Karina faced the same fate as she rushed the other beater instead, Ebony's quick lean away highlighting the attempted foul as elbows jutted out. "Karina Eaglewood! Penalty lap to you, too!"

It would be those that actually succeeded that found no punishment, their maneuvers hidden amidst the jumble of two people vying for the same airspace. Rafal finished what Karina started, the distraction of one attack leaving Ebony vulnerable to the next as he just barely stopped himself from crashing into her before ramming an elbow into her stomach. She keeled over, the pulsing pain contesting a will to sit upright and properly concentrate on the game for the next few minutes. Aly would also succeed in her trick- knowing where the snitch was herself, she flew directly in the line of sight between the golden ball and Violeta, a constant buzzing distraction. The Slytherin, also taking over the Chaser position temporarily, couldn't switch her attention enough as she lost both the snitch and quaffle.

SECOND STRING

The cheering and jeering continued. This time, Ebony would gain the support of her bench with Damien and Ophelia, while the Slytherins loudly protested Aly's plays and strange movement. Mikey would be the sole hater of Percival, able to rattle the Slytherin beater slightly even amidst all the other shouts and noise. Aamon, still not done with all the snacks brought, seemed determined to finish them all off himself. Truly a test for his stomach on how he would feel flying after it all.

CHASERS

With Aly on distraction duty and no one guarding the Slytherin hoops, this round was almost even less contest than the last. Violeta could barely keep track of the snitch, fumbling the quaffle as she tried to catch another glimpse before Aly blocked her view. Winnie snatched it as though it were willingly handed, gliding towards the hoops and tossing it through. She made it seem effortless despite the years of training it had taken, only a few hesitations of her own that didn't stop points from being scored. "And the points keep climbing! That's another 50 for Ravenclaw, bringing them to 90 while Slytherin sits at 50! But will the snakes get their lead back?"

BEATERS

The beaters were far more careful, the blood thirstiness left to their Seekers and Chasers instead as one Beater from each side hovered nearby to keep their Seekers safe. Aston and Oliver were the ones on duty, Oliver finding little action as Ebony looked towards Percival instead. The pain still echoed across her core, the other Slytherins looking more like threats than targets after the foul had gone unnoticed. Try as she might to brush that moment off, it clung like sap and slowed her movements too much to do anything this round. Percival found far more success, lining up with Aly and Winnie to rocket a bludger in their direction. Aston had just enough time to rush in front with no chance to connect his bat in time. Calculated, the ball crushed into the defender before spiraling towards Winnie as her attention remained on getting the quaffle swiftly through the hoops. The quaffle clipped into her, crashing more into her broom to send the Ravenclaw into a spin- disorienting for a moment but far less damage than it could have done. Neither Aston nor Winnie fell, but it wouldn't take nearly as much to make them tumble the next time.
