Gryffindor Vs Hufflepuff Fall 2025

Oonagh had gotten a lot of practice in her Quidditch game as of late and was excited to put this newfound routine to the test in an official capacity. Obnoxiously smug as she was born to be, she strode across the pitch and headed for the benches.

Pax gave their speech and Oonagh only half listened to it as she regarded the other team and their own. She was not necessarily someone who was a tactical genius, but her brain ran on instinct and to her Quidditch and most aspects of it felt instinctive. So the cogs in her brain set into motion, shaking off the heavy dust, revived by the sheer drive for victory.

Oonagh was not blind to see that many of the other team's players were taller by a lot and seemed older too, that would not however mean to her, that they were behind them in skill. On her way to said bench, she lightly shouldered one of the opposing players, (@Landon Matthews) some kid with sun-bleached brown hair, carrying a Silver Arrow.

Daphne felt quite energized this year, it was her goal for Hufflepuff to win this game and hopefully many more. She couldn’t help but be cheerful- four years at Hogwarts and she was in a place where she felt like she belonged and could leave a mark on her house. It only helped that she had been really practicing in the summer, so she could only hope to be able to evade any bludgers better than the last times. Grabbing her broom, she took to the skies, looking around for the snitch.

Prodigal DADA Learner: Able to learn Defense Against the Dark Arts 1 year ahead of their actual school year. You may only choose a spell taught in DADA classes. At end game they learn 1 restricted spell. This can also serve as an alternative means to learning spells besides earning them through DADA class.

Scream: The scream can be disorienting (-1 accuracy and -1 evasion), requiring a full action to perform but does not require a wand. This can stack indefinitely and persist until the end of the encounter. This scream can target a single user or it can target up to five users (as an AOE attack). Alternatively, this spell can be used to temporarily deafen an opponent. So rather than cause the player to become disoriented, they would become deafened (unable to hear) for the next 5 rounds.

Broom: Silver Arrow

First game of the new season. One year on the sports team. This was how Eugenia viewed everything. Differently, quieter, on a more mature position. She was a chaser, not the most important, but not a lost cause either. The team was mostly younger players now, she was one of the oldest. But could that ever stop her? No. Would it? That would be seen when she’d take off.

SECOND STRING

A game between Hufflepuff and Gryffindor made sure it wasn't a dull day in the history of two houses competing. Frederick's shouts ringing through the air, the proverbial daggers striking the hufflepuff target's psyche more than it did their physical form. An attempt to sledge the Gryffindor captain by Pamela only lead towards a misunderstanding with Daphne Saphirus that once again brought the hufflepuff seeker down. Rosaline and Avery sat there on the bench, head in the game with an almost impeccable strategy amidst their brain. Clearly there was something nefarious being prepared by the two of them, same could be said for the Hufflepuffs know as Callum and Gabriele who seemed to be scheming evil deeds of their own. Landon, the once sweet seeming selfish boy decided to heckle Pax, a change so sudden even Pax seemed to take it to heart. Oogie, the ever gluttonous beast, kept herself distracted, nearly choking her own snacks.

The covers of the cottony cloud hit the snitch well, perhaps too well as both Harlan and Daphne missed it's sight, coming out on top of both his seniors was the Gryffindor seeker otherwise known as Aodhan who managed to catch a glimpse of the snitch and fixated on the flying being.

Both sides came for war as Pax intended to bludger Camilla with all their strength, unfortunately for them, they did not quite manage to calculate Sage's flexes to their list of variables as the Hufflepuff prefect swooped in to save their teammate, sending the bludger flying towards Aodhan who doubled down in pain when the bludger connected. Ethan bludgered Avery right out the sky, akin to swatting a fly. To add salt to injury, Avery's broom was broken to pieces as well, this was the closest Ethan could come to clipping Avery's wings. Thankfully for the huffs, the ricochet managed to barely fly past Atlas. As if the previous hit wasn't enough, Avery too had sent a bludger towards Aodhan before being dropped from the sky, the accomplished seeker fell and had no hopes of being saved. Alliasta on the other hand, dodged with ease the bludger that flew towards her.

Atlas quite easily managed to skip this foul from the eyes of the young slytherin moderator who wasn't any wiser either. The match had begun, and that strange blend of excitement and nerves still buzzed inside Fred. He tried to follow everything, but his eyes simply couldn’t keep up with the blur of broomsticks and players darting across the field. Glancing again at the reserve bench around him, he noticed there were more familiar faces there than just Rosaline’s.

“Hey, I don’t think we’ve been properly introduced.” He leaned forward a little, just enough to see Avery still sitting ahead of him as he spoke. “We played on the same team during that wild match. I’m Frederick. And you’re Avery, right?” He smiled warmly, but before he could continue the conversation, the commentator’s voice stole his full attention.

Hufflepuff had possession of the Quaffle, and the yellow team’s Seeker streaked through the air close to the reserve benches, clearly searching for the Snitch. Without a second thought, Fred cupped his hands around his mouth to boo the blonde girl, Daphne, as he’d learned during practice. “Boo, you yellowhead!” It was the best he could come up with at the moment. He had nothing against her, of course, but today every Hufflepuff on the pitch was a rival.

In the next moments, everything seemed to happen far too fast. Hufflepuff scored a few goals, making Fred protest loudly, while Gryffindor managed only one. He cheered like mad for it, then deflated when the Seeker was hit and Pax had to be saved by a teammate, only to cheer again when an opposing player was knocked out. It looked like this match would be a roller coaster of emotions for him. He glanced at Avery, knowing it would be her turn to catch the snitch for the Gryffindor team now.

Restless and charged with the energy of the game, Fred turned back to Rosaline, gesturing toward the pitch as he spoke. “Mate, Quidditch is the best sport in the world, no doubt about it. Are you staying to watch the next match? Even if I wanted to, I don’t think I could make it back up to the castle.” As his attention briefly shifted to the other players on the bench, Fred noticed a third familiar face sitting with the opposing team, Gabriele, one of the first people he’d practiced flying with when he’d arrived at Hogwarts. He let out a short laugh, thinking how fun it would be to face him in a match someday, before turning his full attention back to the game.

Avery was calculating with Rosaline for this round. A girl Avery herself had taught the ropes of Quidditch to and here they were at a real match strategizing together. Avery couldn't believe it. It was surreal and not what she had expected. She had hoped that the two of them would play together soon, but she didn't realize how soon that really would be.

"Okay. Looks like today's going to be an interesting match." Avery commented to Rosaline as she watched the chaos unfold. "You see that move there? That was quite the backfire." Avery winced as she watched her fellow Seeker, Aodhan get smacked by the bludger. Knocking him out of the game and pushing Avery in.

Before she rose to the challenge of becoming a Seeker so early in the game, she realized Frederick, a boy she had captained in a chaotic unofficial Quidditch match, had just recognized her. "Yeah. I'm Avery. See you later!" She felt bad for being brief, but she had a game to play and the clock was ticking.

Avery mounted her broom and took to the sky. Ready to face Hufflepuff and hopefully lead her team to victory.

While hovering in midair to look for a firstie to give a friendly physical greeting, Mamori found the task unexpectedly challenging — the Gryffs were full of pipsqueaks that either matched his height or stood even shorter than him, making it damn near impossible to tell who the first-years were just by looking. He couldn't exactly target every short player on sight, for all he knew, they could be seasoned third-years just waiting to hand his ass back to him. A sickening crack shattered the air as Avery’s broom snapped clean in half from a direct bludger hit, thus sending her into a skydiving demonstration without a parachute. Despite Mamori's rushed attempt at a rescue mission, gravity proved itself the faster competitor. Perhaps this was a reminder that plotting for blatching while on save duty never works. He succeeded in neither.

Just as the game was about to begin, he glanced towards the spectators booths to see if he recognized anyone. By the Ravenclaws, he saw Avis Greymond, the ice queen herself, already glaring at him. There were quite a distance between them, yet he thought he saw her clearly. Unsure of if she saw him or not, Gabriele flashed her a shit-eating grin from his benched spot and waved. Sure, he was benched, but it was still hilarious to imagine her surprise, seeing him on the team. One day (hopefully not too far away), he was kicking her ass of her broom on this very pitch. That was a promise. And threat.

He glanced away to focus on the game as the Hufflepuff and Gryffindor players claimed the sky on their brooms. Within the first few minutes, Hufflepuff was doing decently. No one had caught the snitch yet. The only guy who seemed to be on its tail was some Gryffindor guy, though he was knocked out by a bludger before he could make a grab for it. Meanwhile another Gryffindor girl had her broom destroyed and was unable to keep playing. Gabriele made an 'ooof' sound as he watched it all unfold, albeit still grinning with all of his teeth visible. The Italian didn't have anything against them personally, except that they were opponents. He was loving this action!

Gabriele scooted closer to some other benched Hufflepuff player, who was stand-in seeker, if he remembered right. Camilla had scored 40 points for Hufflepuff, but with not much else to do on the bench, he leaned in with a smirk on his face, looking like he was up to not good. “Bro, we need a strategy.”

Shifting her hold on her broom and bat, her eyes scanned the stadium. Keep your head in the game, she reminded herself. You already got their seeker out, keep focused.
