Meet & Greet PV Healer Interns

The Hospital Wing was usually a busy place, students constantly coming in and out for injuries or sickness. It was rather calm at the moment though, not a student in sight for once. That was a rather good thing for Nancy though, as she had invited the Healer Interns to the Hospital Wing for a small get together. The goal was for the students to be able to get to know the Hospital Wing a bit better and to hopefully get more comfortable with each other. There was never a guarantee they would be working with someone they liked, but they at least needed to be able to work with each other.

As the Interns entered, they would find Nancy flittering around the room with Emrys close on her heels, occasionally biting the right side of her skirt like some kind of puppy. The young woman was not wearing the usual robes, instead having on an orangish-yellow skirt, patterned shirt, and silver flats. She had prepared a small portion of snacks and drinks for the students, allowing them to snack on something while the interacted, as well as moved the chairs from along the beds to the edge of the room so they had somewhere to sit if they pleased.

This event was not a requirement for the Interns. They did not have to come meet each other if they did not want to, but it would help them if they knew each other even just a little bit. Nancy was sure it would all be okay though. There was always the chance they could be interrupted during their small gathering, by someone injured or sick, but it would be good practice for them to know that these things could happen at any time.

The day of the meet and greet had indeed arrived and Ally Craig couldn't have been happier when she had finally made it to the Hospital Wing dressed in her little nurse outfit her gran had bought her for occasions like these. Even though Ally wasn't a nurse and she knew this she just loved to come prepared for anything as her gran would always tell her.

When Ally finally had entered the Hospital Wing, she had noticed Nancy the school nurse flittering around the room, Ally had noticed that Nancy wasn't wearing the usual nurse's garments, so Ally started to feel silly and self-conscious for wearing such attire herself.

Ally had also noticed there were snacks and drinks prepared and there were some chairs for the other interns to sit in if they pleased.

Ally felt like she should start doing stuff outside of her comfort zone so she decided to come to this event to try out small events first before the fall ball that was happening in few days time.

I can at least get to know miss Nancy better! Ally thought to herself first. What's the harm in that Ally also thinking to herself.

Ally finally grabbing enough courage walked slowly up to miss Nancy and introduced herself saying Hello miss Nancy! My name is Ally Craig, and I am a first year Ravenclaw, I hope I get to learn a lot from you and this internship!!!

From a young age, Lyanna had strived to become an auror, to fight for justice and drive away all evil in the world. Growing up, those goals became more reasonable, but her benevolent nature continued to lead her to pursue goals to help others, for a sunchild cannot stand to see others' pain and not be able to help them. Therefore, when the healing internship opened back up again when nurse McLoughlin was handed the position, Lyanna didn't hesitate to sign up once more.

When the former Nurse and then History of Magic professor, Octavius Kennedy (formerly Baird) had reestablished the healing internship, he had given each of his interns a task based on their year. By mere coincidence, Lyanna had received the task on making something creative based on one of a list of illnesses provided, one of which she had been falsely diagnosed of having herself at a younger age. Now, only a year after the never-ending fatigue had ended, she was ever so grateful of having done that assignment. Because when she had received the news of her mother's disappearance, the sleepless nights returned. And then came the healing internship, only a few months later.

The knowledge about narcolepsy that Lyanna had acquired during that visit to the library seemed like nothing more than a few facts. But the following nights got better, and when she took a moment to wonder why, her thoughts went back to that day, that poster. It had taught her that the tossing and turning was all in her mind, that she didn't have an illness and that she could stop her thoughts from going haywire. Her sleep was in her hands.

All of these things led to Lyanna grabbing her satchel on September 27th and making her way to the third floor. The first event was merely meant for introductions, and although it was rather unnecessary, the young Hufflepuff hadn't met the new nurse yet and deemed this a good occasion to do so. After all, first impressions are always important, and if she didn't go she would've had to spend her only Saturday of the week studying. And honestly, there's only one of each day in a year, so best to make the best of every one of them.

Once arrived, the sunchild cheerfully smiled at the new nurse, and noticed that there was only one other girl who had arrived before her- meaning either everyone was late, or she was early. The former made more sense, but her enthusiasm made up for it as she greeted the duo. "Hello! I'm Lyanna Oak, second year Hufflepuff, here for the Healing Internship event. It's a pleasure."

She was glad that the internship existed, not only so that she could help others, but also because it had helped her.

XXXA meet and greet for the Healers' Internship! It didn't sound like something you'd ever find at Hogwarts, but Eonaria supposed it made sense if the Internship was similar to a club. She was quite excited for this event, as she had been quite a bit disappointed at the disbandment of the program shortly after she joined this year. Eonaria was very excited to meet their new Nurse and possibly hear about the new Healers' Internship.

XXXShe arrived late in the morning, peering in curiously. "Good morning!" she announced sweetly, looking around. Her gaze first landed on Nurse McLoughlin's colourful skirt, and then a flash of movement caught her eye: ferret! Eonaria's expression brightened further upon seeing the little animal. "Hello," she said happily to the ferret. It seemed that she was a bit early, considering there was only two other interns in the room. "Oh!" she murmured, recognising the blonde first year. It was Ally Craig, a Ravenclaw she had met just yesterday and was actually going to tutor later that day. "Hi, Ally! How are you doing?"

XXXThe Hospital Wing seemed to have been rearranged from the way it looked the few times Eonaria came here, usually for headaches. The nurse looked like a very nice person, which she hoped was true. She also waved at the other girl, wondering if they knew each other or not. Eonaria was sure she looked familiar, but didn't think they had ever met properly or interacted before. Hmm, was she in Hufflepuff? She tried to remember, but couldn't really put her finger on it. "Hello! What's your name? I'm Eonaria Kabukimono." She spoke to the second year before stepping further into the room, surveying the Hospital Wing again.

Having been focused on Emrys, Nancy glanced up quickly and greeted the entering students with a bright smile. "Hello, hello. Welcome!" The woman called out to them happily as she quickly leaned over and pulled Emrys off the ground. She did not want the little creature to accidentally be stepped on or hurt himself somehow, it was also preventing him from putting more holes in the bottom of her skirt. "Chat amongst yourself, take some drinks or snacks. If you need anything, just let me know."

Nancy had been concerned at first, afraid no one was actually going to show up, but she should have known that she just needed to wait a bit longer for the students to actually show up. The nurse did make sure to pay attention to the students as they introduced themselves, attempting to commit their names and faces to memory. She wanted to try to memorize the students' names, knowing it would be helpful to be able to identify the interns in case she needed them for any reason. There was always the chance she could need assistance with an injured student when not in the office or potentially at one of the various sports events the school had. It also never hurt to actually know the names of the students.

Slowly she made her way behind the desk, setting the squirming ferret down as he quickly ran off to the hammock she had set up under the corner of the desk. He would be fine there, probably finding random treats Nancy had hidden in different toys, something that would entertain him for ours. With a soft smile, Nancy picked up her own cup of tea as she looked at the students in the Hospital Wing with a gentle smile, she really hoped some of these students would go on to become great Healers in the future.

When Kaitlyn heard that Hogwarts’ newest school nurse was reestablishing the healer internship, she jumped at the opportunity. As a young third-year, she had no idea what she would eventually want to pursue upon graduation. It felt so far away. And yet, oh so near, too. She wasn’t stressed, or really too fussed, to identify what she thought she’d be good at. Why attempt to second-guess the future? Especially, when considering that there were still so many years before the inevitable would happen?

And yet, Kaitlyn knew what a good opportunity this was, similar in idea to how important the Astronomy internship was. It gave her another avenue to explore. She’d be the first to admit that she was unsure if healing was for her. But, she knew that she wanted to try, and trying in a controlled environment like this would be best. Depending on how this intership would eventually go, it could help point her to potential career fields. No matter what, however, this young Slytherin knew one thing for certain. She wanted to do something that helps people. Healing appeared to be a good example of that.

Young Kaitlyn was often pretty shy and kept to herself a lot. Becoming a prefect naturally meant that she had to expand socially, especially if she wished to help her fellow students … at least that was what she desired. As important as that was, she still needed to learn. As it was, she was only thirteen and had plenty more time to learn even more magic.

When she received word about the Meet and Greet invitation for the Healer Internship, Kaitlyn knew that she’d attend. It wouldn’t hurt to meet the other interns. It was certainly possible that meeting the other students could be beneficial at some point. How that would look remained to be seen. For now, however, she figured it would be best to try her best socially.

The young Snake arrived in her Slytherin uniform, and the gentle echo of her low-heeled Mary Janes filled the space around her. Her footsteps were careful and graceful, as always. Her wand was safely tucked behind her ear, and her enchanted satchel bounced on her hip.

Entering the Hospital Wing, Kaitlyn’s blue eyes danced to Nurse McLoughlin, then to Lyanna and two younger girls. It appeared that she wasn’t too late to this activity. That was always greatly appreciated. “Hi, Miss McLouglin,” she greeted her with a smile. She turned to the other students already in the Hospital Wing. “Hi, Lyanna,” she beamed at the younger Hufflepuff girl. Then, she smiled kindly at the other two girls. “Hi! I’m Kaitlyn. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” Politeness seemed to be her immediate reaction to most things.

xxxxxxxx𝔓unctuality was proving to be a difficult concept for Cecilia to grasp. Was it the third or fourth time this week that she was late? The count – much like the time – had slipped her mind. Somehow, she found herself entangled in various detours on her way to the hospital wing. They were nothing of great importance – a lost pet, a peculiar ghost encounter, all recurring events within the castle. Any efforts to depart early proved to be futile, and this time, the young witch had no clever excuse. Only a tale regarding a string of silly little distractions that culminated in lost time. Thirty minutes to be precise.

It was not as though Cecilia was stalling – she would never. She certainly was not nervous either, that would be ridiculous. Nor was she doubting her potential as healer. Though she had a penchant for destruction whenever she handled delicate objects or matters, this did not have to prove true with those who were sick or injured. Right?

The internship did not seem too daunting. No unsupervised healing and no dealing with major wounds or ailments meant that the expectations were lower than an actual healer’s and the responsibilities were few. But they were responsibilities nonetheless. To make matters worse, she knew very little about healing spells, let alone healing. Would she truly be of any use here, or would she simply be a hindrance? The thought terrified her. However, if she were to succeed, perhaps she would finally be of use to someone. Now that possibility enticed her. Though it would only come true if she did not hold back.

With that in mind, she lingered behind the wooden doors for a moment until another predicament crept into her thoughts. One that further risked jeopardising her success – her squeamish nature. Although she was not one to immediately faint at the sight of blood, excessive amounts as well as certain injuries induced some nausea. Whether it was her lack of familiarity or her intolerance to witnessing pain, it did not matter. This was a weakness, and she was determined to stamp it out. Failure to do so would only create more inconveniences down the road.

Endure it, she insisted firmly to herself and drew a deep breath before stepping inside the hospital wing.
────𓃦────
Immediately, her gaze fixed on the group of students ahead. Her eyebrows arched when she realised that there were only four of them. How were their numbers this few? Recalling that the event was not compulsory, she deduced that either they were the only ones who cared enough to show, or for once, Cecilia was not the last to arrive. Their appearance – healthy and beaming – suggested that they were also interns, especially the witch in the nurse costume. There was no turning back now. With a confident stride, she approached them.

As she strode, her gaze fixed on Nurse McLoughlin, who sat behind her desk, sipping on her cup of tea. “Hello, thank you for hosting us,” she greeted the older witch with a faint smile and a small wave before turning her focus to her peers.

“I assume you’re all here for the internship,” she noted, giving each of them a nod of acknowledgement. “I’m Cecilia,” she introduced herself briefly. There was no need to share her last name. Regardless of whether they recognised it or not, Cecilia was determined to be known for her own merit and nothing else.

She then took a moment to get a closer look at her peers. All four seemed rather young, most likely first years like her or a year or two above her, at most. Cecilia did not exactly tower over them, but she was noticeably taller than one.

Her gaze moved to the blonde witch. Her nurse costume caught Cecilia’s eye. She was either very excited to be here or simply delighted in dressing up. Then her gaze shifted to the shorter girl. Her black waves cascaded, and a single green streak popped out. She appeared to be frowning. Perhaps she was not pleased to be here, or maybe something weighed on her mind. Though none of that was her business. Her attention shifted to the brunette who wore pigtails. Cecilia was not yet acquainted with this snake but quickly recognised her as one of the prefects. Her composure seemed fitting for her position and perhaps this would be well reflected during the internship. Finally, she turned to the girl with chestnut brown waves that fell past her shoulders and brown-green eyes brimming with determination. Instinct told her that she most likely had a strong purpose for being here. How interesting, she mused before reaching for a snack.

All were unfamiliar faces, but that would have to change if they were going to be peers. Her lips then curled slightly as she looked back at the four.

“Tell me, what inspired you all to become interns?” she said before taking a bite of the snack. Her tone was kept light yet insistent – friendly enough that they may feel compelled to answer, and with enough conviction that they may feel a need to. Names were hardly a pressing matter to her; they would eventually be revealed. What Cecilia truly needed to understand was what drove them. This was her chance to gauge their capabilities and mindset. Was she standing among promising witches or the indolent?

A boy with a dark brown shirt and denim pants ran from his dorm to the Hospital Wing. He couldn't believe he was late to the gathering from being too deep to his own mini research. His breath was heavy, a sign from his lungs that it was struggling to get more oxygen to keep up with the sudden loss of energy. The boy drifted for some time before he stopped at the front of the door. He took a deep breath before pushing the door to see a group of students around Professor McLoughlin, or perhaps, he should call her Nurse McLoughlin now.

The boy walked steadily, trying to hide his shortness of breath, though it was an impossible task to do. "I'm sorry, I'm late," the boy said while scratching the back of his head. He immediately sat on any chair provided there. He looked at the School Nurse. It has been a long time since he saw her again. She used to teach Herbology when he was a First Year until she left the school for an unknown reason. Her departure made him sad, he couldn't forget it. "It's nice to see you are back here again, Professor McLoughlin. I mean, Nurse McLoughlin," he corrected immediately. His face showed his innate awkwardness, compounded by the mistake he just made.

The boy looked at the interns through his silver glasses. He had never interacted with them before. Exciting. It felt like starting a new character and adaptation. He just hopes someone he knows will come from the door at least. However, it seemed he came at the very wrong time or maybe very late. His mind was full of thoughts. He wondered if he had disturbed some interactions with his late arrival.

The boy once again smiled awkwardly. He wanted to apologise and asked if he had disrupted anything and what they were talking about before he arrived. "Uh... Sorry. What are we talking about?" Not long after that, he just remembered that he hadn't introduced himself yet. "I'm Zach Zaphiere, by the way. A Fourth Year. Ravenclaw," he forced a smile. What a chaotic day to restart his healer internship.

𝔄s more students filtered into the well-lit room, Lyanna registered each one take their place and forming a scattered cluster of interns. First came a lively second year by the name Eonaria Kabukimono, as she presented herself. With a sweet smile, the sunchild directed a few words toward her peer; "I'm Lyanna, Lyanna Oak. It's a pleasure to meet you, Eonaria!" Once her dulcet words had been delivered, she turned to the door once more, wondering who would walk in next.

The following intern proved to be none other than Kaitlyn Connor, a kind Slytherin who had helped her when she had fallen off her broom and had aided her in researching the matter. The creature that Lyanna had collided into had turned out to be a thestral, invisible to all but those who had witnessed death. The sight of the older girl brought up vivid memories, to which she smiled and greeted her. "Hello! How have you been?" Kaitlyn could become an amazing Healer one day, given her caring personality and determination to help those in need. "It's lovely to see you here."

Cecilia; that was what the fox had called herself as she entered the room only moments later. Something about her immediately captured the sunchild's interest, whether it was the way she presented herself or her obvious attention to detail as she took her time to interpret each intern that had arrived prior to her. Her expression brimmed with quiet expectation, it seemed. If the fox strived towards the prospect of achievement, her ambitious snake-side would take her far. Of the others in the room, Cecilia could be said to expect the same, given her inquiry of why they had signed up. The sunchild saw this as more than a mere icebreaker of sorts, but an analysis of their prowess and dedication.

Lyanna took a moment to ponder over her answer as the others replied. She didn't give the fox a hurried answer, but deliberately organized her thoughts into what could be counted as a promising response. The reason to why she had immediately set quill on paper and written her name on the sign up sheet was clear to her. But what she wished to disclose, was an entirely different matter. At Hogwarts, anything you shared could be taken advantage of, when it came down to it. There was the Headliner — more specifically "Lady Audentia"'s monthly articles — and the never-ending gossip, like a plague spreading far too quickly. Thus, Lyanna formulated a calculated response, but truthful all the same.

The sunchild's thoughtful expression remained as she finally spoke. "I joined this internship because the art of healing has always interested me. I have found myself drawn to it in many ways, some more personal than others. For me, this is an opportunity that I cherish having, an experience worthy of my time." A pause. "I suppose healing is not only about helping others. In a certain sense, healing others is the key to healing oneself, so to speak."

Whether the others deemed her words "silly" was not her concern anymore. Of course Lyanna cared about their opinions. But now, a new face appeared, breaking the spell. Zach Zaphiere, he called himself, a fourth year. Timeliness was apparently not his forte, but she didn't judge him for it. Instead, the sunchild greeted her older peer kindly. "It's a pleasure to meet you. Lyanna Oak, second year Hufflepuff." She had spoken the words at least thrice in the last five minutes, and they were beginning to leave a bitter aftertaste in her mouth. But no matter, for politeness would always lead to prosperity. Speaking of which, the sunchild wondered why Zach had chosen to grace the room with his presence. Not only him, all of them. Cecilia's initial question was indeed a key to the soul.

Whose would be unlocked first?

Was it obnoxious to inform that she was familiar with sign up sheets and extra curricular? No, but it was not necessary to even say the information most people would have assumed the said people who signed up for something was familiar with the concepts of being a volunteer for an example, internship. Yes Angel had been keen on one internship it was the Healer Internship. What piqued her interest was particularly the topic of it being healing you could gain experience from these type of internships. She was confident and grabbed a sheet without hesitation. It was easygoing she knew some spells that could be of use during her time as a healer intern. Now that title did hold a bit of weight to it so the slytherin would make haste. She commited to atten a meet and greet which is held in the Hospital Wing.

There was some time of meet and greet that was optional to attend. Angel did not find it tedious to join events such as these for she believed she could meet new faces definitely. Now being punctual was something she was used to but this time she really did not want to be tardy or it would make a great deal on who she was as a person with a schedule now. Her parents, while not too finicky with how well you can make yourself turn up in something being late frequently will raise eyebrows.

As she brisk walked towards the corridors bringing just herself she would be pleased to know she was not the only one who found it interesting to join this meet and greet. Nancy McLoughlin the nurse could be seen with her gaze as she entered the room whilst turning her head to check her surroundings. Angel perked up as she waved to Ms.McLoughlin.

“Greetings Ms.McLoughlin, thank you for accepting my application as healer intern!” she said with a light remark and nodded promptly

Angel just arrived perhaps late or in time was up to the others. Obvious she would not need to reiterate her status whether she was tardy or not. Angel would not find it beneficial to expound. Now on with the other interns who were present, the raven haired witch could tell she was seeing new faces. Though there was perhaps only one person she could recall and immediately recognized, it was Cecilia Merrick. Being here in a timely manner was Angel's skills, but time was relative so did the wise Einstein said.

Cecilia, while Angel was candid she was puzzled with her presence here but the auburn lass seemed to be diligent but she assumed that Ms.Merrick was diligent or perhaps eager on being approved to be a healer intern. Nevertheless, she would infer based of what she could grasp, introductions were in order and a question was asked: “What made you interested in joining?”

“Hello to you all, I’m Angel Dayes first year Slytherin. Do forgive me for being late I was ways away from being inside the Hospital wing by the time I made my venture here.” she said being informative, the travel made her chipping time unfortunately

“I joined the Healer Internship because, being in the medical field has always piqued my interest and it would for me, I thought it would make a good deal to join as it would help gain experience. I cherish getting this opportunity and I believe it might set my sights on becoming a role somewhere in said field.” she said while smiling though her composure lasted.
