Glancing at Kaitlyn, Devon playfully nudged her shoulder. She was thankful to have her friend with her for this experience. ‘I’m glad to know someone, at least,’ she observed. It was certainly better than trying to meet a bunch of strangers for the first time … even with her extroverted nature.
A giggle crossed Devon’s lips as a girl that Kaitlyn called Brook came over to hug her friend. And then offered her a handshake. With a friendly smile, Devon reached over to shake Brookline’s hand confidently. “Hi, Brookline. It’s nice to meet you, I’m Devon Wallen, from Ilvermorny. Yes, Kaitlyn and I are besties,” she beamed, happy to meet some of Kaitlyn’s friends.
And then, there seemed to be a parade of people entering the tent. Devon didn’t recognize a soul, but that didn’t stop her from greeting each and every single one of them. She enjoyed talking, even if it was just as a simple ‘hello.’ It gave her a new connection, which she loved to have.
There was a boy, two more girls that Kaitlyn knew, a girl with a foreign accent, and a boy with a similar foreign accent. Once they were all in the tent, Devon beamed and waved. “Hi everyone, I’m Devon Wallen from Ilvermorny. It’s nice to meet all of you,” she said to everyone there with a friendly tone. She considered mentioning her house at Ilvermorny, but decided against it for now. Why confuse everyone?
Her green eyes followed a few of the pets in the tent. Apparently, many of them had pets, and it seemed like many of their pets knew the other pets! Or that their pets were friendly. Crouching a little, Devon took her crup, Ginger, out of her crate. By now, her little crup had woken up … likely due to the commotion surrounding so many people entering. Not to mention, all of the new pets for Ginger to meet.
While she had purchased Ginger roughly a month ago, Devon could already tell that her pet was very friendly. They played around together every day. Hopefully, her crup would continue being super friendly. “This cutie is my crup, Ginger,” she pet Ginger on her head, before Ginger sniffed and rubbed against her ankles.Reducio

Oh...pets. Harvey cast a side-eyed glance to all of the furry creatures that were in attendance as well. It was quite the unpopular opinion considering it seemed that everyone that attended Hogwarts had an animal companion, but he really didn't care for that school policy. It wasn't that animals couldn't serve a purpose. Dogs were faithful, cats kept the vermin away, heck, even rabbits would at least take care of the vegetable scraps, but should they really be at a boarding school? Harvey thought they were quite distracting. Wizards for whatever reason still relied on owls to deliver mail. Noisy, messy beasts. However, there was nothing to do but to accept it now. At least all those present looked well groomed and behaved.
Another thing that Harvey had to get used to while attending Hogwarts was the rather disproportionate amount of female students. It seemed they outnumbered the males two to one! That surely wasn't a terrible thing. Harvey often found that he got along better with the opposite sex than he did his own. Boys were often loud and messy. Not to mention the bravado and egos to deal with. He had met a few that were acceptable. One that he even called friend, but for the most part the girls had drawn him in and when he looked around it would seem that this group was no exception. Until the one other male made his appearance, but still it seemed like Harvey had found good company. Something he was grateful for as he had been dreading who he might be grouped with.
"Well, isn't this lovely? Again, very nice to meet you all. And what a pleasure to have some of the international students in attendance. I hope you two have enjoyed London so far." Harvey thought the Valentine events at Beauxbatons had been a wild success and he was thrilled to have people here from all over the magical community. Partly because he liked to socialize, but mostly because it presented a chance to make some connections outside of the U.K. As the group gathered around, Harvey was struck by a bit of inspiration. The boy had recently acquired a magical camera and couldn't wait to put it to use. He rummaged in his bag for just a moment before retrieving it. "Do you all mind if I take photographs? Something to document the occasion?" Harvey would begin taking pictures of the scene, respectfully avoiding anyone who refused.

11/08/2025, London Quidditch Stadium, Summer CampElisa tucked a strand of loose hair behind her ear. Her left hand grabbed her right arm from the back. Her foot shifted one small inch to the left. These was just some of those many small habits that came up whenever she was nervous. There she was, standing in the middle of lavishly decorated tent, surrounded by strangers... Well, not all strangers, she murmured to herself in an attempt to seek reassurance. Out of all seven other pupils that had arrived in the tent, she knew Brookline and Kaitlyn fairly well, and was acquainted with Ophelia and Harvey. She judged the remaining three members to be from foreign wizarding schools, but if Elisa was unfamiliar with them, they seemed to know some of the party already.
Detaching her eyes from their survey around the room, Elisa was called back to attention by Brookline's voice. "Hi Brookline!", Elisa answered to her friend's greeting, her placid grin now replaced with an earnest smile. "My summer was great, thanks! I did quite a lot of reading." The Slytherin beamed, and had opened her mouth to ask about her interlocutor's summer when a thought made her close it right away. Elisa was convinced she wasn't the type of person who would meddle with others' business, especially when it came to family matters.
The grin that had quickly drooped like a wilted flower was turned upside down again by the greeting of another friend. "Hi Kaitlyn!" Elisa replied, "The pleasure is mine!" And after a slight pause, "It's great to see you again."
"We... uh-" Elisa started once Kaitlyn had walked away, her voice barely a murmur, "Have we decided beds yet?" She would then, after making sure nobody objected, settle on one of those four posters, dragging owl and trunk behind her.

But Brookline definitely wasn't shy. She practically came bounding up to Ophelia, enveloping the young Northwell in a very Brookline-esque hug, which was both suffocating and extremely sweet at the same time. But when Brookline stepped back, allowing Ophelia a bit of space and smiling wide, the Ravenclaw responded with a grin of her own. She'd missed her amazing roommate over the summer, that was for sure.
"My summer was amazing, thank you." She grinned, then nudged her friend back. "Yours?" The drop in her voice was clear, giving Brookline the option to not respond and pretend that Ophelia had never asked the question, since the others couldn't have heard the whisper.
"Yes, I brought my little Doveling-- can't go anywhere without her, can I?" She laughed a little, turning back to find the grey tabby pretty much glaring at her. Oh Dove knew that she was being talked about, and she knew that her best friend was in this tent with them.
Brookline said she'd be right back and went to greet the newest girl who'd entered the tent, a girl who'd introduced herself as Aurélie, with an accent that was definitely French, though her pronunciation of the English words wasn't off in the slightest. While the two conversed, Ophelia turned to Kaitlyn, who'd greeted her as well. She smiled. "Hey, Kaitlyn!"
The final member of their tent arrived soon after, and Ophelia was glad to see that it was a boy, one who introduced himself as Peter. She wouldn't want the other boy-- she believed he'd called himself Harvey?-- to feel left out or alone in their tent.
Ophelia couldn't help but catch the look Aurélie gave Peter as he walked in, as if the moment he arrived, he'd taken up all her attention, that he was all she focused on. Clearly, there was something going on between those two, and Ophelia was sure that she'd keep an eye on their exchanges, try to feel out what had her looking at him that way.
Ophelia smiled as one of the girls she didn't know, Devon as she'd introduced herself, the apparent best friend of Kaitlyn, introduced her cute half-crup as Ginger. Kaitlyn introducing her own bunny as Demeter. The Ravenclaw looked over at Tigeress and Dove on the floor of the tent, already playing now that they were reunited, before looking back at Ginger, Demeter, and the other pets in the tent. Dove had been fine with Galleon, Ophelia's dog at home, but only after being exposed to him for a while. Hopefully she wouldn't cause a ruckus or disturb the other creatures!

Perhaps Aurélie had been wrong and it wouldn't have been odd or awkward to go up to everyone and offer a hand in introduction, because it seemed that everyone did that to her. She smiled and nodded at those who chose to shake her hand, the maneuver controlled by Aurélie with one strong pump and two lighter ones. She memorised their names, matching them to the faces. Eight people wasn't all that much to remember, she had many more in her head already. Plus, she loved seeing new faces, meeting new people. Speaking of eight people, where was their eight tentmate...
It was like the thought summoned him. In walked the eight tentmate that was later than Aurélie herself and also the one not-stranger in this tent. Aurélie eyes widened as Peter Smith entered, a half-crup and trunks in his possession. The French girl watched as his eyes took in his surroundings, the people in this tent with him. She waited for him to recognise her, to give her that smile of his and greet her. She waited and she kept waiting, for his gaze found hers, rested on hers for a moment, and then kept going. Hello? Not even a "Oh hi Aurélie, it's nice to know we're in the same tent?" She kept her eyes on him, now in annoyance. It was only due to this that she caught his eyes lingering on one of the others too. Brookline, her name was Brookline.
She had been one of the first to come up to Aurélie, shake her hand, and introduce herself, with all the energy and excitement of the resident tent greeter. Aurélie stopped herself from narrowing her eyes at the girl. Why do you even care anyway? Peter can have other friends, Peter can choose not to say hi. He's his own person. And yet, petty Aurélie decided that she wouldn't greet him either, turning her body just slightly away.
Harvey, one of the other tentmates, posed a quite interesting question, one that Aurélie had an exciting answer to. "You photograph too?" She pulled out her own wizarding camera, always just a reach away. "I'd love to see some of your pictures sometime!"
She caught one of the other girls in the tent staring at her curiously-- her name was Ophelia, as Aurélie remembered. When everyone seemed to calm down, an exciting thought entered her mind, and, in classic Aurélie Duval fashion, she did not wait for a clear opening to share the thought, just blurted it out for anyone to hear.
"You know what would be really fun? A game night! It'll be like a slumber party!" An exciting idea indeed. She'd never actually attended a slumber party before, mostly due to her mother's blatant insistence that it wouldn't be good for her daughter, but they seemed quite fun.

𝓟eter turned to the girl who introduced herself to him. Kaitlyn. A Hogwarts girl, guessing by the accent, and perhaps a friend of Brookline's. Maybe he could ask about her coldness, and her distance. And what really happened. Yet, Peter smiled at Kaitlyn, and nodded. "Pleasure to meet you as well. Kaitlyn is a nice name, it suits you."
Just as Peter was to approach Aurélie, the small girl turned herself away from him. His eyes crinkled as he realized he insulted her, by not saying hi to her. That was a horrible mistake. His eyes lingered on her a moment longer until he looked around the colorful tent, in regret.
The other boy, younger than him, grabbed a wizardry camera, and asked if others minded photographs. As soon as the words left the part-golbin's lips, a soft voice exclaimed, "Please, no photographs!" Peter spun over and saw Brookline on her bunk, tears already pricking at her eyes, even though she tried her best to swallow them. Her hair looked like a mess.
"I don't mind. Photographs are okay!"
And from the entrance of the tent, Peter walked to the remaining bunk, dropping his heavy belongings by the side of the bunk, making sure he could keep a careful eye on his best friend, and also that he could still talk with Aurélie if he ever wanted to. Which, that was most of the time, if not all. He quite liked talking to that energetic girl.
He placed Carmel's crate by the mattress, grabbing a treat and unlocking her crate. Then just as he finished giving Carmel a treat, he stood up and heard Aurélie burst her words out, like she did always.
A huge smile would reach his lips, and he nodded to Aurélie and the group. "That would be really fun! Did anyone bring any games or know any games to play?" Then in a undertone, where Aurélie could still hear, he uttered to the group, "Whenever Aurélie has a idea, we should listen to her. Her ideas are always pretty good!"
He would smirk and turned his gaze back to Aurélie. He would gladly participate in a games night, he just wasn't sure if Brookline would even engage in half of them. But then again, Brookline would shove herself into a hard challenge just to prove to everyone and herself, that she was fine.
She wasn't fine, though, Peter knew that much.
