The first meeting of the newly revamped Hogwarts wizarding photography club, better known as LUMOS, led by Simon was unfolding in the Courtyard beneat a glowing afternoon sky. Some students were already gathered around, holding cameras that clicked and lenses that zoomed. Simon stood with his own vintage brass and leather camera slung over his shoulder near a sign that read "Welcome to LUMOS! Capture the magic! Frame the wonder!" It stood propped up by an easel.
"Hello, everyone. Welcome - or should I say welcome back, to LUMOS. I'm Simon, Simon Kincaid, sixth-year Hufflepuff and founder of the club. I'm here to help us all discover the world of wizarding photography - whether you're already great with a camera or don't know which end is the lens. We will capture moments, tell stories, learn magical photo techniques, work on personal projects, and hopefully participate in a showcase towards the end of the year. We're here to have fun, experiement, and see Hogwarts in ways that others might miss."
Simon held up his camera. Everyone there could have access to one. There had been a cloth set down near his sign with several that he had borrowed from others and were lending out to those that wanted to be part of the club but didn't have their own yet or just wanted to give a trial run. "First, remember - magical photography isn't merely about taking a picture, it's about activating one. A regular photograph captures a moment but a magical photo remembers it - it breaths and moves and changes depending on the emotion or spellwork involved in the shot. As the year goes on, we will discuss various techniques and spells that can enchance our photoraphs but for now, please, just get comfortable with the camera and take a look at the Back to Hogwarts Photo Scavenger Hunt that I'm passing around to each of you," and he spoke as he walked around, ensuring that everyone in attendance was given one. "I encourage each of you to share at least one entry with the club that is included on the list. I am available to meet with or assist anyone who needs help getting their photographs in physical form, and there is a list of places one can send their magical film off to be processed on the back of the scavenger hunt list."
He had been thorough.
"Remember, timing is everything. The best wizarding photos aren't always planned. Be patient. Let the magic happen naturally. This castle is full of surprises - moving staircases, ghosts, weather that changes in an instant. You're now not only photographers but you're magical observers - go and see Hogwarts in a way that others might miss. Your time here goes fast, trust me. Don't miss out on a thing."
Simon is open to interaction.

***NOTE: Being a wizarding photography club, it makes most sense for the image you select to be a .gif file for a more 'real' wizarding photo experience. Ensure that it has nothing in it that wouldn't be found at Hogwarts (example something to do with modern technology) and that it is on the list. Be creative, topics can be open to interpretation. If someone else has already selected the one that you picked, you'll have to find another. You can also submit a non-moving image and find one off the internet or have an AI image built to your specifications, https://perchance.org/ai-text-to-image-generator is a good resource.
In character, these photographs would be placed on display inside the LUMOS! Camera Club's Headquarters in the Room of Requirement or placed up near the Bulletin Board near the Great Hall if granted permission.

LUMOS - September 2025 Meeting

6 September 2025 -- Saturday
School had been in session for a week and none of it felt real. AngelFyre was moving through her days... somewhat in a daze... in the aftermath of her abduction by orders of Adrian Hawthorne, Simon's father. Her parents were not at all keen on her returning to school so soon, but staying away from Simon for even one minute more would have just made everything worse for her. They did not like the idea of knowing they had almost lost her only to have her leave for another four months, but she was insistent she wanted to go.
Truth was, she really did not want to come back. The only reason she was here is because Simon was here. And Colin. But she was honestly confused. She knew she was traumatized, and she knew Simon had to be as well, but he seemed to be handling everything just a little too well.
Looking at him moving through his first week of school, he seemed to be the same Simon anyone would have expected to see, but she knew better. She was worried for both of them, but decided that participating in his Lumos! scavenger hunt would be a welcome distraction for her as she desperately tried sorting things out in her mind.
Feeling sluggish, mentally as well as physically, she still managed to get to the Courtyard early. She was happy to see they were alone, for the moment at least, and without saying a word, she walked right over to him.
"Apologies, but I need arms around me right now, and not just any arms," she said in as cheerful a voice as possible while removing a vintage camera carefully from his hand and setting it down. With his hands now free, Simon wasted no time in wrapping her in an embrace the second she turned back around. Her attempt at cheerfulness had sounded more needy than she wanted it to, and Simon picked up on it too because this hug was like all of the others over the past week... completely void of flirtation.
And that was fine. Better than fine. It was an I-have-you-now-and-I-am-not-EVER-letting-you-go protective cloaking, and it was the only time anything felt right as of late.
They stood there, just holding onto each other, until they both knew they had to let go and let him finish preparing for the first meeting of the Lumos! club for the year. He tapped her forehead with his before releasing her, and when he stepped back, he had that patented, klieg-light like smile of his lighting up everything within her as only he could.
"Now, what can I do to help you?"
AngelFyre did not move far after Simon released her. She stayed close, watching him adjust the easel, straighten the sign, and check the borrowed cameras with the same care he had shown her. It was soothing, in a way—his quiet rituals, his attention to detail. Like he was stitching the world back together one lens at a time.
Once the meeting started, her pride in him began to swell. She did not speak to anyone. She did not need to. She was here, and for now, that was enough.
When he began his welcome speech, she drifted to the edge of the group, listening but not hearing anything new just yet as she had been a member since its inception. Words like patience, emotion, and magic floated past her like leaves swirling in wind. She clutched her camera unknowingly when he spoke the word capture. Goosebumps raised on her neck and arms almost immediately. She turned her face away from him and towards the pillar she was leaning against, trying to catch her breath.
Thankfully it passed before he reached her to give her her copy of the scavenger hunt list. Simon handed it to her with a quiet glance, but no commentary. She could tell he knew something was up, but she smiled at him and told him through their binding mark that she was fine. He lingered just a few seconds, watching her to make sure, and moved on, never missing a beat.
She scanned the list slowly. It was quite intriguing and would keep everyone engaged. Even her. She already had an idea brewing when Simon approached her after the meeting broke up and he had answered all questions.
"You don’t have to take a photo today,” he said gently. “You have time so there is no pressure.”
AngelFyre nodded, but the tinge of excitement in her voice surprised her. “I think I want to try. I already have an idea,” and she gently shoulder bumped him.
Simon did not answer. He just reached out and brushed a strand of hair behind her ear, then reached for her hand. "Why am I not surprised? Besides, it will be fun having you chase down things off of my scavenger list this time."
That actually did make her smile. "That might very well be, but what I want to know is if there is an international trip awaiting me at the end of this particular hunt?" and she laughed as she squeezed his hand three times.

LUMOS Camera club meetingBailey, having finished her archery club meeting, headed to her next obligation - her friend Simon's camera club. Bailey loved Simon, and did want to be at least simi present with her friends so they didn't get (too) concerned about her.
It was a gorgeous afternoon, the skies having cleared from the morning's dreariness. Any other year, bailey would be thrilled about the weather, and would be smiling, and almost frolicking in the sunshine. This year, this was not true. Bailey trudged up to the courtyard from the outdoor archery area, her bag over her shoulder. Dressed in loose pair of dark jeans, a tight black t shirt, and her black boots, her outfit was simple, put together, and completely devoid of emotion.
Showing up the meeting, bailey was not surprised to also see her friend @AngelFyre McCubbin at the meeting. Her and Simon were the cutest couple ever, in bailey's mind at least, and seeing them made her crack a tiny smile.
"hey guys" Bailey said, forcing a bigger smile.
Bailey listened to the instructions, and it seemed like Simon had put a lot of thought into the revamping of the club. It seemed really legit, and bailey felt the beginning twinges of excitement in her stomach.
Looking around, bailey searched for a familiar face amongst the other club members, potentially someone to do the scavenger hunt with.
