Vladislav was honestly still astonished about the fact that this girl was still standing. She'd probably outrank Elton John based on how long she's been lasting. Vlad really wanted to heal her, to do something beneficial, but no, the gods didn't work in his favor, they never really seemed to love him. Based on his cast against Moray, he needed more training, more focus on improving himself.

Camp, 2025  Summer Duels: Match 3
Nikolai was growing restless at the limitations his team had been put under, mostly due to himself. Every time he wanted to help he just felt himself grow more useless or faced failure each time. Durmstrang were not known for their defeatist spirit but rather their determination, yet, as his spells continued to go awry and with his attention span still loft adrift he wondered if there was any purpose in him being here at all. The boy had been more hinderance than useful and unless he got his act together, they seemed destined to lose. At the very least the girl on the opposing team looked positively worse for wear but the other still stood tall. If he could just gather his strength and rely on his magic perhaps he could make a difference, but such things were far easier said than done.

Moray decided against casting a spell this time, still in pain after tanking three hits. She needed the moment to regroup her thoughts. Even so, the Australian braced herself for more spells cast at her. She could see something from Vlad coming her way, but her lack of focus on casting in response allowed her to step aside safely.

When it came to any sport needing strategy, it felt like a game of chess. Except, in this game of firework sparkler chess, no one (not even the players) could have predicted what would happen next.

Since the Koldovstoretz girl had to recover from being sniffly for several rounds, her partner had to make up for the lack of manpower with continuous pressure. But rather than take the opportunity to knock down the Tenūsa girl, the Koldovstoretz boy shifted his focus to her partner who had come back to his senses again. The Tenūsa girl remained alert, which would've been smart if there was actually something headed her way. Thinking the opposing team would target her, the Durmstrang boy took the opportunity to make up for his inaction with firepower.

In the end, it didn't quite work. Both boys were quick on their feet even with firing spells at one another. When the dust cleared, they were back at the beginning, slightly beaten and definitely sweating from the heat, and still unharmed by the storm cloud that had been menacingly hovering over Koldovstoretz since round one.

The moderator looked at the clock, then back at the players. "Alright, duellists. We're running out of time. Make this last spell count!"

Huh. Okay, Vladislav needed to push back harder. He needed to channel the rage of a thousand men... somehow... and get them down. That was important. It really was. He looked at his partner and hoped she could help this round, more than anything. His aiming was about as good as a child learning to shoot for the first time, and he wished he was not alone in this ideology.

The Mucus ad Nauseam was awful. Simply awful. But after all this torment, Irina also had to recover from it. Recovering from illness was usually quick for her, but with this spell she took long. And her delayed recovery round came now, as Ashe fought trying to stay conscious. Her pride was in tatters. But she had to persevere. This little thing would not stop her. One more round. And she needed to make an exit.

Camp, 2025  Summer Duels: Match 3
They had both been too fast, spells flew through the air with disastrous intent but neither of the pair would suffer the blows. There was a fragment of disappointment that flickered in his mind, a train of thought he ought to derail but still it sped on. Nikolai had always been so proficient in duels, but he couldn't say that with any real certainty anymore. Magic was just different, he was different, but at least it was almost over. One more round and he could leave this piste determined to never step foot on it again, just one more round.

The piste was decidedly not quiet, but for all their efforts, nothing really budged. Moray's body still ached, but she'd taken no more hits in the past couple of minutes. Even worse, she'd spent those precious seconds trying to avoid anything coming her way instead of casting. The time limit was fast approaching, and it seemed like both her and the Durmstrang boy were about ready for this to be over.

The moderator raised a hand. "Stop! Put your wands down!"

Looking up and down the piste, determining the winner was slightly difficult. Both teams looked worse for wear, though, the fact that Koldovstoretz still had one member (almost) unscathed and the other (barely) alive, compared to Durmstrang-Tenūsa who both took nasty hits meant that there was a winner.

"Well, congratulations to Koldovstoretz! A round of applause for all of our duellists today!"

And by some miracle, Koldovstoretz pulled through with a decisive finish and won the whole game. Even after nearly losing a teammate to the Bogies' Curse and getting pummeled by an insane number of Knockback Jinxes, they did it. All it took was just holding back on flinging spells and dodging everything that came their way. Though, both of the opposing team's spells were only really headed in one person's direction.

Unfortunately, for the interschool team, they couldn't quite make it in the end. As the moderator looked up and down the piste, it was a close game. The storm cloud had been a good setup in theory, and the Bogies' Curse was absolutely brutal. But, well, not everything always went to plan—especially not that Knockback Jinx that was meant to be for the other team and ended up backfiring to themselves.

"That concludes all of our summer duels for this season! Thank you for tagging along. Now, enjoy the rest of your day! As for the duellists who participated, please go get yourself checked out with our medical team before you run off somewhere."
Koldovstoretz wins!
