The moderator could tell the gears were turning in their heads, a calculation of what spell could inflict the most damage or set them up for the next rounds well. Yet the ideas never turned to actions, both teams faltering with wands outstretched but no pattern carved into the air and no incantations loudly proclaimed across the piste. It was a stand off rather than a duel, although one side was already significantly worse for wear than the other. Perhaps that was how Phelan managed to break out of this strange spell despite the bogey bats still flapping in the corners of his vision.

His wand aimed towards the fellow Third Year with a sharp cast of the Tickling Charm as he easily ignoring the flying distractions nearby and kept his focus on the contemplating target. His wand aimed true, a speedy strike that under other circumstances would have surely hit. But Ariam was faster and with no distractions of their own, they swiftly turned to let the charm fly past before dissipating. And that would be all. The moment of action gone, everyone remained stuck in their ponderings. Hopefully it'd be worth it, the moderator curious as to what they might be cooking up or if this strange rest would continue.

Phelan cursed. What was with him today? He just could not get in a hit. Though his rictusempra was seemingly well placed, Ariam dodged it yet again. Phelan was confused as to why he was the only one casting, but he wasn’t complaining about the lack of action on team Castelobruxo.

Saturday 16th of August, 2025

The trance kept hold, although yet another broke from its grasp as Ariana joined Phelan in the world of the living. The gears started to turn in everyone else's head, a bit more life and yet no words continued to be uttered or wands directed. Both Ariana and Phelan would go for those who remained still, as though their supposed stupor would also limit their dodging capabilities.

For Ariana, that meant only one possible target of Geneviève as the Castelobruxo student opted for a hard hit with Flipendo. The wand movement was shaky, mind scattered and eyes occasionally darting towards Phelan and the strange danger that seemed to surround him. Despite it all, the spell shot forth with Geneviève noticing a bit too late as she could only step away enough to take the hit in her non-dominant arm, a stinging sensation reverberating along the limb. Phelan would find the same answer as his last round's question of if he could strike Ariam with the Tickling Charm. The cast looked sharper, some more confidence in the form and incantation, but aim grew a little sloppy as Ariam outpaced the spell tossed in their direction. A little more than half way through but with everyone fading in and out of action, the moderator didn't know how this would end.

Phelan was speechless. Once again his spell was dodged by the Castelobruxo student. Genevieve faced yet another attack from Ariana, who seemed to be the only one from her team with enough sense to continue. Was the rest of the match just going to be Ariana versus Phelan? Only time would tell.

One action could make a big impact as the moderator was soon to find out. Phelan still acted, fighting against the strange current as he switched targets from Ariam to the nearly fallen Ariana. She too seemed to be aiming her wand or preparing yet fell short at the last moment as she realized her status as the new opponent.

After the last two rounds with the same spell, switching to the Dancing Feet Spell required more concentration than Phelan initially realized, especially so as the gross bats continued to peck. Yet the Beauxbatons held on long enough, sparks flickering to life at the tip of his wand before flinging themselves towards Ariana. A straight path flight, many could decipher where the spell headed yet the speed caught the Castelobruxo student off guard as she stumbled yet not nearly enough to keep out of reach. Soon enough her feet took up a jig on their own but the impact had been enough to topple Ariana, taking only a few steps before collapsing to the ground unconscious.

"STOP!" The shout rang out, walking forward although a physical barrier wasn't much needed as the duellists and moderator waited for medical help to arrive. The Bat Bogey Hex dissipated in this time, Phelan finally free from one distraction and one target. "Ready? And- continue!"

Merda. Shit. Manu had zoned out for a moment, perhaps overtaken by the immense insanity of it all - when had she ever duelled such youths? - and when she snapped back into focusing on the duel in front of her, one of her teammates had been escorted off the piste.

She would not let herself be beaten by a ragtag group of French children. Manu steeled herself to get back into the swing of things, casting a glance at her lone remaining teammate. Together, the two of them would certainly be able to end this.
